This was my first visit to this particular market. Although the layout seems a little less than fancy, the selection is quite impressive. I was able to find a good variety of Chinese and Vietnamese ingredients that I had been missing from my kitchen for a while. You can find Sichuan broad been paste, cooking wines, noodles and spices, cookware, produce and meats. Nice place overall. I will certainly be visiting again.

Store has a very good variety of items and the pricing of many items is some of the best Ive found in San Antonion.Ive begun going here for many items but especially sauces as they have some of the best prices on things like sesame oil.The front snack area has a always changing variety of candy and snacks. I always end up leaving with a new item Ive never tried before. The store also has a fresh seafood day, but I dont remember what day of the week it is.If you like Asian food, trying new items, or need ingredients to cook your own dishes this is a must visit.

We learned of this place from one of my wifes sons, who frequents here.Parking is a little unusual. A bit run down in appearance. However, some parking is located under a roof, which is much appreciated during these hot Texas days.Inside, the dining rooms are large capacity. Very busy. Fairly clean. Hard to say exactly, as Hung Phong seems to be an older estsblishment.Older style Chinese decor reminds me of the Chinese restaurants I dined years ago.Dine-in and carry out.We were seated immediately. A server promptly took our order. We ordered their lunch specials. Food came quickly. Food was ok. Nothing to brag about. But not bad at all.I watched other tables as we dined. Many people, smiling, chatting and eating. Very laid back feel.In my view, Hung Phong is much like a stereotypical local diner, well known by the local residents. Seemingly very popular. Many regular customers. Not expensive. Quick meals. A comfortable non-assuming place to go for a no-nonsense no-frills meal which wont break-the-bank. And, just maybe, say hi to your server who happens to know you by name. Doesnt hurt that Hung Phong offers a pretty extensive Chinese menu.Highly Recommended

It may look a bit plywood, in an odd location. Go beyond the looks, and they have a great selection of products. The greens are fresh. Prices are great. They had everything you would need to make an authentic bowl of Pho. Beef knuckle bones, culantro, thai basil, bean sprouts, fresh ginger, and rice noodles. Give it a try!

Old, beat up Asian store. Actually its pretty good size and well stocked. you might have a hard time finding it unless you know where is already or you accidentally run into it (which is unlikely because its on a residential Street just off in the middle of nowhere). Look for the Chinese restaurant on the corner.

This market changes inventory quite a bit so every week you could find different items. Thursday is their busiest day as thats when they get their newest inventory and many people come out to get the freshest items. They have a variety of items from different Asian countries. They also sell fresh produce, including Asian fruits and greens. They have a selection of freezer items, like pre-made dumplings, steam buns, desserts, etc. and snack foods. They also have kitchen supplies, like steamers and woks. The location is tucked away and the store looks run down, just heads up. I am glad to have this store but wish I could consistently find the items that we like and use.

Honestly, this is the best Asian grocery in San Antonio. Most importantly, the prices are not bad. In fact, you can get some things cheaper here than in major supermarkets in Houston. It has a wide selection and larger stock than other places like Tims. Also a more stable stock. Tims is always running out of things but this place keeps better stock and is larger. Finally, prices are better here than anywhere else in town. I will travel across town from the Northwest to go here.

Ive been shopping here over 20 years. You can source hard to find items at a very reasonable price. Its mostly S.E. Asia type food products- not very many Japanese or Korean products. But there are other stores for that nearby. Thursdays are market day and it will be very busy and full of people and boxes of fish and produce that you wont see on other days. Yes it smells funny sometimes. Especially on market day. It is not spotless and brightly lit like HEB! They seem to rearrange certain aisles frequently and sometimes it appears disorganized. Sometimes the lady at the register is a bit surly. Sometimes she isnt. But dont let that deter you!

There is a lot of selection here. They actually had lye water which I had been looking for to make ramen noodles. 4 stars because its the only Asian Mkt with a decent variety of fresh veggies in San antonio. Thursday is the day to go if you want fresh. Fresh Durian fills the air, so if you arent prepared for the smell and arent a Durian Afficianado then this probably isnt the place for you. But coming from LA, its nice to have a place to get one. Asian markets are usually no frills so be prepared for low overhead and makeshift shelving. But none of this matters if they have what you need.
