This place is AWESOME! I’m a hobbyist, who has always wanted to build my own vehicle from the ground up.Brady is SUPER informative, well spoken, and incredibly patient. Any engine needs, take here
Great Shop!!! I drive past 7-8 different machine shops to work with these guys! Fair prices, great workmanship, fast turnaround times. Tried a couple places 1 hour closer, wasn’t near as good. Now I drive the extra 2 hrs (there and back) to use these guys! Been going there for over 40 years.
Great, thorough service! At an affordable price!
They did a fantastic job on my fly wheel remachined the surface and pressed on a new ring gear. It looks brand new thank you for the quality and quick service!
I have been going to crankshaft grinders for years, over, 30 I think they are a good shop, I will keep going there
I had them resurface my flywheel. I would come here again. Good prices.
Amazing work, came out like new, will always use this company.
100% good quality and professional. Thank you for rebuilding my 351w.
They milled a head down for me after a blown head gasket. Got my head back the next day. They were very fast and professional. Will be recommending to anyone that needs machine work.
Great job, quick turn around.
These guys are amazing I have gone to Allen for over 20 years and now both of his sons on the shop and they are just as good as he ever was you will not find more personal personable and honest people for a machine shop then you will at this place they have my business 100% I will recommend them every time I have never had any issues with any of their work I have always been on top of informing you of pricing and parts needed and labor right up front they are truly a HomeTown feel which makes you just want to come back anyway
These guys are amazing. Willing to help with everything you need
I order a crankshaft from them for dodge 4.7, this part is hard to find, so when I call them they said they had one on the shelf just tobe polish, so I ordered it and my son picked it up and brought it down, over 300 miles, I installed it ran the engine 800 miles it started like a wrong main main bearing, so I took it back apart found out they did a well on it that made the piston off line, that damaged my piston bore, call them up and all they said was they cant do anything about it, you trust them they do this to you. Probably I wouldve got a better one online.
Curious and professional. There the ones
Had heads milled and valves replaced on 2004 Range Rover with BMW built V8 engine. Put the engine back together and it runs great now. Brady also helped by cleaning some extra parts for me in his parts washer at a reasonable price. They did a great job!
They did wonders with my jet ski cylinder they are fast and awesome to work with
Good people.
As a customer of Crankshaft Grinders I highly recommend them. There prices are great, work gets done in a timely manner, and awesome customer service. Brady is proud of the work that comes out of this shop and stands behind it.
These guys know their stuff! They have always been very professional and very knowledgeable! Can answer any question we have about engines. Weve taken over a dozen engines to get rebuilt and we have never had an issue, whether it was OEM or a custom race engine. They build the best long blocks. They are always friendly and take pride in their work. With that being said, we will always remain good customers for Crankshaft Grinders, would recommend to anybody! 10/10.
Great shop! I would highly recommend for anyone who’s looking for machine work on engine parts. The part I had them do was a 09 Chevy HHr head block. It was in real bad shape due to a engine overheat. Dropped it off and within a week they resurfaced the head and did a valve job. Now I’m pleased to say the car is running once again. Thanks again crankshaft grinders.
Had a mechanic friend go with me here. I took my head gasket, they cleaned it, sanded it, and made it look just like new. They installed some parts that I gave to them. The price was fair and they were confident in what they do. And their employees were nice, helpful, and friendly. I would definitely go to them again.
The dad ran a first class shop. His son took over, and things went downhill after that...Not going back. Prices too high, communication sucks. However, work is still adequate, but they now have gotcha pricing. For example, I bring in a head for a simple resurface, and it suddenly needs a complete $400 head job! And this has happened with the last three heads I have taken in, even though they were removed from good running vehicles. (we were doing gaskets and just wanted a good sealing surface.)We miss you Alan!
Excellent work on a few different engines they built for me
Great prices, and even better service.Tyson does a great job explaining their work, and their processes.I will continue to use their wonderful services, wouldnt hesitate to recommended to friends.
I purchased an engine rebuilt by them from a third party. The pan was already on the engine and sealed with a gasket. The chrome pan had overspray from their paint job. I put the engine in my truck and could not get any oil pressure when trying to start. I drained the oil and pulled the pan and the shaft that runs the oil pump mechanically was missing. Simple rookie mistake by then or the guy I bought it from that could cost a whole new engine. The rest of the engines internals look good. The engine fired second crank and runs great.
Crankshaft grinders has been around for a million years and they are very old school. Ive had them do several things for me over the years and had no real problems. If your looking for state of the art top end work they probably are not what your looking for. If you need a simple weld on a crank or a set of heads worked over there great for that!
Ive used them for years, good quality work, friendly, and helpful.
I walked into this company to drop off parts for my employer and I was immediately greeted and helped. Thank you to your staff and excellent customer service skills I will recommend and use this company for my personal use as well. The inside of this business is incredible!
Crankshaft groovers would be a better name. Gave them specs for oversized bearings, no problem they said. Called to say it was ready for pick up with no mention of issue. They left grooves in the crank and advised us to run it anyway, or of course pay more than the original cost over again to build up the crank, which, again, they verified was not necessary when originally assessing the crank. They will bait you with a good price and tack on as they go. They will not stand behind their bid, or their work. Be careful.
After they rebuilt my engine, I tried to drive across the country, but it developed an overheating problem. All parts which could have impacted the overheating had been replaced correctly by the third-party mechanic who had installed the engine. When I was stranded in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Crankshaft Grinders was unwilling to honor their warranty--claiming that overheating had voided the warranty. In fact I had not allowed it to overheat, but had pulled over every time it was threatening to overheat, and the indicator tabs never melted. I eventually got around the overheating problem by drilling a hole in the thermostat, and the fact that this resolved it (like a band-aid) indicates air was constantly being introduced into the cooling, i.e., internal components were not right. But they used the excuse of overheating to avoid having to honor the warranty. That is, they excused themselves on their own poor workmanship! And now, just a couple months after their meager one-year warranty has expired, there is a much bigger issue: there is a bad bearing on a connecting rod and huge power loss. In other words, the engine is toast and I am once again stranded without my motorhome (which is my only home--they have zero regard for how their selfishness impacts the lives of their customers.)I do not recommend Crankshaft Grinders, but would rather recommend Jasper Engines and Transmissions, which my mechanic has switched to after cutting things off with Crankshaft. Jasper offers a three-year, 100,000 mile warranty, nationwide. If you get stranded in another state, they will do the logical thing which reflects on their integrity: reimburse for the local repairs. Crankshaft Grinders have no such integrity.
Amazingly poor customer service. My shop will NEVER use them again! Unwilling to warranty welded crank. Only put about 50 miles on a rebuilt engine when the rod bearing journal that they welded fell apart. No refund, No offer to repair. Just said tough luck. Took crank to another machine shop who confirmed weld job was junk. Not worth having them fix your crank. Youre better off spending the money for a new one unless you like building your engine twice. My suggestion... look at some of the work they do & compare to other machine shops.
Love this place and so do all my mechanic friends, have been taking car engines to be bored, heads shaved, cranks turned, valve jobs, even motorcycle engines, As for the one star they always give you a quote but will explain to you if YOU LISTEN that if the scratches are too deep and he has to spend more time that it will be more money and this is the same for all machine shops. These guys are awesome and i have used a lot of machine shops, Make sure you ask questions and if your not sure ask more questions.
CLEAN WORK GREAT PRICES!!!! These guys did the machine work on my 327, now all the machine work for my shop Sunburst Automotive will be going here. Thank you so much
They take good care of the engine blocks & do quality work for many years.

**** Crankshaft Grinders SHAME ON YOU to work with this guys and screw good hard working people what if someone did this to your daughter or son when they are just good honest kids you should be ashamed!!!!! *****We are hard working people that were looking for an honest mechanic to help us with our truck repairs, needed an engine rebuild went on KSL found this guy, I wish I had enough room to go into detail on how much run around this Bill gave us but I dont want to waste more of my time on him.. long story made short, our engine is blown AGAIN less than 3mo and 3k miles and he says sue me thats it!!! No help no nothing and the machinist he works with Crankshaft Grinding in SLC says that is Bills responsibility and back and forth all we know is our truck is blown up and we paid $3,500.00 to these guys. Please do not use these people they are crooks and sue I will. We are GOOD HARD WORKING people that trusted these companies one of whom we found here on KSL. P.S they have two other complaints at the BBB we make three and that is just for WB motors and he makes his companies LLC and changes the names to run and hide. KSL you need to remove this crook PLEASE
