A card shop is only as good as the person behind the counter. This card shop has Dominic.Dom (his aka) is superb. It is not often you get someone as knowledgeable, cool, genuine, and legitimately interested in how your day is going and how he can help. It was a pleasure to visit this store on vacation and worth the 45 minute drive to get there.They had the singles I needed, offered me WELL above average for my cards, and had a decent selection amongst MTG packs.If you are in the OC area and need a shop, this is your store. Prices are great, staff is great, and the store is huge + clean.Dom, if you are reading this, you really made my vacation. You rock and so does your store.

Not much in this store at all. They had some boxes of magic cards. 1$ comic books that are really worth it. Some dice. Sleeves for cards and storage boxes. That’s about it right here. Easy on and off in the plaza.

Been coming here since it opened. Staff is helpful and well-informed on their product, with plenty of community events. Kid-friendly.

I remember one time, when me and my friend went here and he bought a couple Magic the Gathering packs, he couldnt afford the tax, and the owner (Im assuming the owner/manager idk what his name is, the guy with red hair glasses and a beard) paid for it out of pocket. If thats not good customer service I dont know what is.

It looked nothing like the pictures in Google. Staff was ok. Board games abundant but l was shocked at how threadbare it looked other than miniatures. I was really looking forward to checking this place out when I came to town on vacation. Maybe next year.

Not a very family oriented place. My teenage daughter likes comics, we dont have a comic shop around where we live. We are from out of town, and she was excited at the prospect of checking out a comic book shop since we were passing through for our vacation. Foul language, rude staring and poor customer service left a bad taste in our mouths. Luckily not EVERYONE in the store came off as outright hostile, but none of it was welcoming. I dont imagine they get many family-based visits like this but since this is a store and not a private clubhouse, I believe they should behold to a higher standard of inclusive customer service.(Response to Manager/Owner: This was before COVID-19 Shutdown. Reviews arent always timely. Get over yourself and run a tighter ship.)

This store is seriously awesome! Really friendly and welcoming atmosphere. They have all sorts of tabletop and board games and comics. Also the Delmarva d&d guild runs games there, and there have been magic the gathering games going on every time Ive been. The people here are super nice and they have cheap snacks and drinks to get while youre playing. If youre into D&D, magic, or looking for other tabletop games or comics, definitely check this place out!

Been going here off and on for the last 4 years, so this review is not a one-time bad experience, more of an accumulation of them.Products: Good variety, good quality, it doesnt seem like they manipulate stock. Products are kept in good condition.Customer Service: There are one or two people in the shop that are friendly and nice to have an interaction with. The head honchos, unsure if owners or management, have terrible customer service skills. They are largely apathetic to borderline hostile, depending on the situation. They give off the air of being inconvenienced by most interactions that do not directly involve their interests (Largely Magic: The Gathering). Inquiring about things or events that are not in the store results at an awkward, dead stop at best. They do not seem to care about people who do not pander to them, which you will see a lot of in the in-store community.In-Store: The store is clean and neat. They have nice decorations (Wall Mural, Posters) that make the store seem friendly and inviting. Ventilation is poor, and if there are a lot of people in-house, it will smell of unwashed bodies and get very warm. In-Store community has a mix of friendly people and toxic people, as is expected of the demographic. Owners contribute largely to a toxic atmosphere, but are liked because of their I dont care attitude, which seems to encourage pandering to impress them. There is no competition for this shop, so they get away with such toxicity. (If you dont like it, you can leave.)Prices: About what you would expect of such a game shop. Markup on boosters and boxes about average, not overcharged. Same for board games and the like. I cannot give you a good estimation for comics.Overall: If you are willing to put up with the discomfort of the usual toxicity with the owners contributing to it, then it is worth going. To me, the whole reason for going to this shop is to seek positive social interaction. I found, over the years, that almost every time I went there I was uncomfortable, so I stopped going. As purely a shop to buy things at, it is not a terrible place, although do not expect the usual support in shopping if you get the wrong cashier.I want to make clear that I do not have any personal vendetta against anyone in this shop, including the owners, and would like to see it change to have a more warm and welcoming atmosphere. I have very little hope of this, however, and that is why am writing this review.

The knowledgeable and friendly staff are always glad to help customers and answer questions regarding products. From the current state of affairs in a myriad of story lines and subplots that dance across the four-color panels of the modern comic book industry to being willing to special order even the most ancillary supporting products for any role-playing game currently in print, these guys are the real deal. They love the width and breadth of comics and gaming, and it shows. Every time I walk into the store, Phoenix Rising Games and Comics clean, well-organized store and amazing staff personify the modern Friendly Local Gaming Store.

I moved to Salisbury Oct 2017. I knew absolutely no one. I became pretty bummed out...Its hard being the new guy. I serendipitously stumbled upon Phoenix Rising and my life has changed for the better. I found a FAMILY. Phoenix Rising offers a fun, competitive, safe environment to game FOR ALL AGES, AND GENDERS. The single best card/hobby/comics shop on the Delmarva Peninsula in terms of selection, staff, appearance/cleanliness, familiarity of product(s), as well as fostering a sense of community. Really a fantastic store!That said, Im hopeful that this store will take the initiative and become sanctioned and/or market to other TCGs rather than MTG. There is always something to do here!

Always friendly service. Huge selection of current comics. Unsold issues are kept on hand and sold at cover price. Just wish they had a larger stock of Silver Age, Golden Age, etc. Great bunch of down to Earth people.

There almost every Thursday and have been going since they have opened. For anyone who plays yugioh and want to be competitive then Thursday and Sunday are the days to go play. Even if they dont have singles there the guy they have in charge for yugioh and can usually help you out with anything you need. Also would like to point out that the main two people who run the store and always willing to help you out with anything else and can get you into MTG if that is your card game of choice. Overall a very good place to hang out and talk to people and enjoy yourself.

This place is awesome, I go about every week, we play dnd, MTG, other people play yugioh, Pokemon, read comics, or play other obscure board games that Ive never heard of. The staff is awesome, theyll help you make decks and characters for varieties of games. And most of the regulars in there are cool too. And if you want to get into magic, but have no money, ask to play the cube. And if u need someone to play with, usually u can ask anyone in the shop if you can play next game, and Ive never gotten a no. Love this place, some of my friends consider it their second home. Try it out, u wont regret it.

Very disappointed with the service I received. I went in the store around 12:15 on 2/27/19 and I went to the counter asking to see if the store had certain Magic cards. The store employee told me that he doesnt handle the Magic cards and he couldnt help me. He told me to come back at 3 when the guy who handles them come in. So I took time out of my day to come to your store and offer my money to your business and you basically turned me away and said come back at 3? I live 40 minutes away, drove all the way to your store and basically got refused service. From now on Ill just purchase my cards online.

I live about a hour away and they dont have card traders on staff always. So I made sure to call before hand to made sure someone could do trades and if they had a booster box for me to buy. I got put on hold 10 minutes and finally told I was good to come up. Ended up not having what he supposedly checked for and wasted my trip. If the manager isnt in the store I dont advise visiting. Not the first time Ive wasted a trip from their mistakes.

Very nice store. A large and wide selection of games and comics. Friendly staff. The staff even gave me a discount for a large purchase that I wasnt expecting that saved me a little over $60. They have a good set up for card games, Wargaming, and RPGs. Highly recommend if in the area.

Was ignored upon entering the store and never received help while the employees talked amongst themselves. My older sister and my best friend, went into this establishment in order to buy some time out of the harsh rain. We were hoping to do some window shopping for dice, pops, and comics. Like any other fellow admirer of dungeons and dragons, magic the gathering, or Marvel and DC. But our browsing automatically turned into an uncomfortable one. As I, a female, heard a customer loudly exclaim, “Why are there women here?” Without any reprimand from the front desk, who was staring at my older sister which made her uncomfortable and us feeling forced out of the store. Let’s just say, we will turn to online shopping for dice and magic decks.

I go here for every comic I buy. Theyve helped me out with unique buys and create a great personable atmosphere. My friends play cards there too and from what I hear, its the place to go for tabletop games of most any variety. Always habe people in there playing games.

Every time I call they provide accurate and honest information. They will not make you drive to their location unless they have exactly what you are looking for. Extremely considerate. Whether its new or collectors grade comics or fun table games like Magic and Warhammer, they usually have whatever you would like. If they do not have it as a smaller business, they are always more than willing to order whatever you need. Great prices, knowledgable staff, and most importantly great customer service.

First off, the store is pretty nice and the owner is a great guy with great customer service. The reason this gets 1 star is bc they have an employee that is constantly rude and down right hateful at times. Me and my friends have been talked down to and ignored a lot when we go. If youre not a constant customer then you get treated differently than, lets say Magic players who go every day.

I wish there was another place on lower Delmarva to buy comics. Phoenix does more of a focus on table gaming than comics and has no back issues. Plus the guy who handles the comics side of the business is quite possibly the rudest person I have ever encountered in any store.

Since I moved here from Tennessee, Ive been looking for a great game and comics shop, with a balance of comics and roleplaying games, within fairly decent access range to where I live. I knew Salisbury was a relatively small town, and was disappointed when I couldnt find one.Then, today, I stumbled across Phoenix Rising. The place is relatively small compared to many of the shops Ive frequented over the years, but they MORE than make up for that with a great, friendly, helpful, honest staff that goes above and beyond to do what they can for you; an incredible selection of new and recent comics from pretty much every taste as much as I could tell just browsing the shelves; the ability to subscribe to comics and order games and materials so you dont miss a copy; plenty of room for good sized groups to roleplay, play TCGs or pretty much anything else; and a fantastic atmosphere.If you enjoy collecting and reading comics, playing roleplaying, board or card games, around knowledgeable and friendly staff and customers, then THIS is the place for you. As someone whos been reading comics and collecting them for over 45 years, and whos been roleplaying since the old original D&D white box from April 1974, I couldnt give a higher recommendation than for these guys. You cant go wrong with them!
