Lovely find on the North end of the main drag in Salina. Stopped in on a long road trip after wandering up and down the street, admiring the buildings and imagining the history (hint: interpretative signs would be wonderful). I always like to help support local businesses and enjoyed both my decaf flat white and locally made molasses cookie. Very diverse crowd of folks along with what seems like a diverse selection of books. Highly recommended!

If you dont go to downtown Salina, you wont think theres much to the town, but fortunately we explored just enough to find their truly lovely, newly renovated downtown district. Its a great place to stop, walk up one side of the street and down the other. Nice shops, restaurants, interesting sculptures. The Ad Astra Coffee House is everything and more you would expect from a really good, cosmopolitan coffee house. Large coffee menu, great local baked goods, and its a bookstore with new and interesting titles to boot!

Long road trips need coffee! Thank goodness this place is just off I-35. Cute place to walk around. Lots of coffee options and bakery options. I think they could make their coffee stronger, it had a tea flavor to it though it was good flavor. They had posters talking about poetry and open mike nights and other events they had there. Overall seems like a fun place to go if you are a resident.

It is very quiet and clean. The owner is definitely environmentally conscious, open and friendly. The shop is designed with everyone in mind from those just looking for a place to study or socialize and also for those that have children or looking for a new read. The coffee is generally more robust than other places however they do have many different selections. This place is for those who truly like coffee. I have been to all of the coffee shops in Salina and I would choose this over the chain stores.

Was just passing through Salina and decided to grab some coffee and breakfast. The lavendar latte was great, with an actual lavender taste. And the toasted bagel with blueberry orange nutmeg cream cheese was delicious! The service was fast and friendly. And to top it all off, the shop itself has an awesome atmosphere that I wish I could go to more often for studying or catching up friends. 👌

Tasty Coffee!! A great selection of coffees and espresso drinks. Pour over and french press or drip or whatever/however you want it. On top of that they have beans from roasters all over Kansas and a good selection at that. All of that being said... this place was also the comfiest coziest quaintest place. its a bookstore and that adds to the appeal since bookstores are always cozy places. MUST GO. cant describe the feeling of it but when you walk in you will feel it. If i could transplant this to be the coffee shop in every town I go to i would.

Lively bookstore and coffeehouse. I drove by and saw the beautiful painting on the side of the building, which caught my attention. Parking was easy as theres a lot right next to it. When I went in, the place was packed with people of all ages playing chess, reading, playing cards and ordering from the cafe. Highly recommend stopping in here, even if you have little ones because theres a quaint little childrens area full of games, toys and books.

Second hand books and a coffee shop with fantastic hot chocolate. I had an almond white hot chocolate, it was rich, frothy and delicious. Even though I dont drink coffee, theres something cozy about the smell of old books and coffee. Ad Astra has the perfect set up: homey atmosphere, board games and cards, used old and new books for sale, simple treats and snacks, and warm drinks.Slip in by yourself or with friends and let time sneak away.

Ad Astra is a homegrown landmark, and has quickly become a staple downtown. Nowhere else in town hosts diverse, multicultural events featuring author readings, music, game nights, political candidate meet and greets, and even spin your own record nights. Come for the events, stay for the delicious treats and drinks. Dont forget to pick up a book on your way out!

Great coffee, great pastries, great atmosphere. The only reason I didnt give a 5 is because some of the tables are too close to the bookshwlves, so I could not look at the books where other patrons were sitting without feeling rude. Might think about moving general fiction to a different section and some of the less - browsed books to the more common seating areas. Great ambience, though!
