First time visiting Underground Books, from Southern California! This Black-owned Bookstore, has been on my list for quite some time! This is a beautiful store, with friendly and helpful Staff!

Love this place so much! They have a great selection of books and the staff are super friendly and helpful. They are a great local resource as well. Highly recommend! Shop local and support this awesome bookstore!

This bookstore has an amazing collection of books. They must have a phenomenal curator. I purchased several books. They have a great discounted section of books and some cost less than used books do! So, definitely check out their clearance area.

This was my first time coming to underground books. This was for a private event . The bookstore is wonderful with a amazing variety/selection of books along with comfortable seating. It is neat and well organized and had plenty of holiday decor and books on display for the season. I will definitely be back to peruse the shelves since I love reading. If you are a person who likes/loves to read and like being able to turn a page or use a bookmark youll enjoy this bookstore.

This bookstore is amazing! They have a wonderful supply of books about feminism, race, and social justice issues, fiction as well as nonfiction. There also have a kids and young adults section. They sell items supporting black-owned businesses - snacks, Oak Park gifts and t-shirts, journals, etc. They have a cozy sitting area and friendly, helpful customer service. One drawback is the #of books stocked (probably due to space limitations) but they will gladly order any book for you. Occasionally book orders take awhile but the staff is very communicative about delays - just dont order from here if youre in a hurry without checking on the delivery date first.

What a lovely shopping experience my 2 friends and I had yesterday at the Underground Bookshop! The ambiance of the shop draws you in and the two young women clerks were so helpful and fun. Well worth the trip from Roseville to Sacramento. Loved it. Following their recommendation to the Oak Park Brewing was the frosting on the cake. Those cold beers & burgers wrapped up the day perfectly. Thank you.

Great place to find books that are related to Sacramento, by either locations or people theres something for everyone here. Also is connected to Sac High so you can find school swag to Rep the Purple and White!!! Dragons 🐉 🐉!!!! Plus my beautiful talented daughter has her art displayed for 2019 Best of Sac High art show!!

Great recommendations online. Purchased online and picked up in the store. Theyre currently remodeling so there is limited in-store shopping, more like pop in for gift vs searching for a specific title. If ordering online, it may take a few days to ship since inventory is minimal during construction, hours are limited as well 12-4pm I believd. Everyone was friendly and helpful, what a treat!

I just visited it for the second time; during my first visit, they were renovating so I didnt get a chance to browse. I loved their new set up and they were kind enough to offer me any help I needed and sent me on my way with a smile on my face and A Promised Land on my hand.

Just moved to sacramento. this store has gotten UK publications shipped to our door and also provided curbside pickup during the pandemic. Theyve gone the distance for us. 5 stars, its where we go for books.

Incredible selection of books by diverse authors and topics! I was thrilled to find a wide array of children’s books too, some familiar favorites, and many more stories that were new to me. Mother Rose has created a lovely bookstore with something for everyone, and I love the local pride in showcasing Sacramento authors and artists! The mugs they sell say, Hot and Literate. Yes, the Underground Books is both.Tons of personalized, hand written cards make book suggestions for you throughout the store. You can tell the staff loves reading, loves books, and their store.

I love it! Mother Rose is friendly, engaging and totally envolved. The atmosphere is intimate, the facility is well organized and clean. The events are awesome, exciting and interesting. I have been to several events there. I loved meeting the authors, the discussion and interactions with other attendees. Underground Books may be small in size but it is heads and tails above the big chains in heart and soul. Never been in that store. I have had the lady who works there come out and yell stuff at me and give me the evil eye. Not sure why. Frankly Im not sure I was the target, but I was the only one around each time its happened. Looks like a nice place and with a name like Underground Books seems like the type of place I would go into, but Im afraid of going in there.

One if the few independent owned bookstores as well as being an African American owned bookstore, which is very rare in America now. Its stocked very well with a wide variety of any selection or genre of 📚 youre looking for. Very helpful staff; amazing art; and a very tranquil space.

Mother Rose always sponsors something with the community or authors to promote and highlight education and reading. I love the annual June Book Fair and Oak Park Speaker Series. I make the drive from Rocklin, CA often to support this business.

Underground books is awesome! They had both of the books I needed for class. The woman working was very nice and gives a discount if you have a school I.d. with you. Ill be back.
