They did a lot of great work to repair/restore my 2006 Mercedes that had sat idle for a few years. And they stood by their work, being very gracious about fixing a couple minor things that werent fixed, at no charge. Theyre all very helpful, personable, and knowledgeable.

BEWARE! Please do not get reeled in by their free AC inspection coupon! Decided to try this place out because of the good reviews and had to go in twice to get the AC fixed and it still did not get fixed here. Basically was misdiagnosed or not completely fixed the first time I brought my car in. When I explained the situation about bringing my car in the first time and that the AC was not fixed they did not honor their workmanship warranty nor did they believe they could have missed something. I called before bringing it in the second time and the gentleman I spoke to on the phone said that I dont understand how cars work (sounded condescending because Im a woman) which I actually know a bit on cars because of my good friends and brother in law being mechanics (but out of town). When I brought it in the second time, they diagnosed it and I was quoted to pay another price. Basically, if youre car is thoroughly diagnosed the first time with time and care, you should know where the leaks are in the AC system the first time because of the dye that is put into your car. Im just so sad they kept defending their work (which I totally understand), but could not be humble and reflective enough to say, you know what since it was just a week ago that you brought your car in, let us get that all checked and fixed for you! Its all about experience and customer service. Feel free to try them out, but Id recommended elsewhere.

Efficient and thorough. Will honor warranty work if they did the diagnosis. Have to get it done there to be sure it falls under warranty work. Not sure at this point what needs to be done but need to address the check engine light regardless.

Excellent services both on ny vehicle as well as customer service. They offer free pick up and drop off, use of a loaner vehicle if your service needs takes several days. They send you text with pictures of what needs repairs, etc.

Ive used UA several times because of all the great reviews, but Ive been disappointed every time. Most recently my car would not start. They kept it for three days and said it had no oil (Had an oil change just a month ago). About a week later Im having the same issue. So I paid $200+ for an oil change that took three days and the problem I wanted fixed didnt get fixed?

Car runs great after repair and mechanics seem really professional. Only issue is that I was charged for other repairs or services without being fully consulted .

So I took car to get the free inspection on AC at 8:50am, and I told him I believe it was my ac compressor which he noted on the invoice... I was contacted around noon and told I had a leak in the condenser which I was aware of. And I told them to fix it and he told me that they would and inspect it again to make sure the leak is fixed. By 5 closing time I told him I need my car I my child has practice. I then came back to retrieve my vehicle and I was told it was still something wrong they needed more time, plus I was charged for the second inspection 209.00$ on top of what was fixed on the vehicle so $699.00 and told to bring car back the next morning. 830 am I did just that by 1 pm they still said they didnt know what was wrong with my AC. Long story short I just got my ac compressor fixed for 195 labor 299 the part and Air is working beautiful.. I felt like I was token advantage of and I am a cancer patient with a job and child. I was very disappointed.I want to say that the owner did reach out to me the same day after I put a review on the business and I was unavailable to speak with him,plus I was just exhausted from the whole experience that I had to let it rest,my nerves are really bad from my health issues and I have not gotten a chance to connect. But I did appreciate the call.

WOW. Finally found my mechanic :) After Big Ol Tires big ol $800 mistake, University Automotive solved the problem within a few hours, and for $60!!! They even offered me a ride home. i love you, Scott and UA.

Had a 10am scheduled since last week. I show up and they’ve informed me they’re booked all day… umm yeah booked because you have my 10 am appointment. No communication, no apology, no attempt to reschedule. I will not be bringing my business to a business with no structure nor competence.

Would give neg five stars if I could. Hated this place. Very inconsiderate and told me. I guess color was a factor.

This place its not a place that I can trust again after going in to have my front brakes check because they fell to check them on my prior appointment the told me that I need new front Rotors I question the service writer but he azure me that were very low after they Installed the new rotors I was having worse problems with my van I took it back the next Day a manager by name Charlie went out for a test drive and agree that their was something wrong we left the van in his possession after the next Day he stared coming up with other excuses and I ask him to put my old parts back and refund my money I took to in other automotive shop and the point out to me that the old rotors were good to resurface but they were damage by this shop when they took them out.,I purchase new rotors they were installed at a new shop the right way and my problem solve I wouldnt trust this company again and I dont recommend them

Update (2021): Had my Chevy Equinox in for service and it appears that they cant duplicate things that I have been able to duplicate on a fairly regular basis. But they were very fair when it came to the invoice at the end. Which I commend them for.(2020) The team here was quick to turn around my Catalytic Converter on my Prius. The prior time I was here my only complaint was that they couldn’t shuttle me back for some reason. Staff are nice and friendly. They charge very average pricing for repairs. Not the cheapest but very main stream pricing.

First time going here. I had a good experience, my car was ready when they said it would be, so far is working great. Very professional and friendly staff.

This place helped me tremendously. I took my car here for a second opinion since the first shop told me my car wasn’t going to make it much further and I should look into selling it. I got a quote from university auto and had the mechanic take a look. Not only did they quote me a price about half the price of the first shop, but they also told me my car was good and could be fixed. I haven’t had any issues with my car and they repaired my car in a day. Employees are professional, take the time to explain everything, and called me to make sure I was okay with the price and when my car would be ready. Great place and service!

So I scheduled an appointment to bring the 2015 Chevy Volt in to have some scheduledMaintenance done, and as a first time client I was informed that my vehicle would need a courtesy inspection prior to the requested work. Ervin scheduled me for Friday stating that the technician would be in that day. We made our arrangements to get the vehicle there and when we arrived, after waiting patiently to check in with Ervin, we were informed that the technician had called in sick. Now, I ran myOwn business for 10 years and I know one thing I know is that if I had a specific staff scheduled for a specific job and that staff called in sick, I would pick up the phone and let the client know that they do not need to come. That’s pretty basic. Doubt if we will be giving them a second shot in this one.

I had to update my review for outstanding service and overall very satisfied with the work completed. I have C-250 Mercedes that had a check engine light came on turns out I needed two camshafts replaced. Nick made sure I was squared and hook me up with a new timing chain as well. Not only did university auto take excellent care of me and my vehicle they provided me with a loaner car for the entire week. As a woman, it nice to feel confident that Im getting the most for my buck and the person on the other side of the counter is on my side and being honest. Thank you, Nick.

Great customer service & always a friendly smile when you walk in, but they will overcharge you so be careful!! I am sad because I really like these people, they quoted me $900 for a job that was $300 average at every other shop in town. They also charged me over $400 in work for an oil leak, and the problem was never fixed. I took it to another mechanic and a oil gasket was replaced for $4 and it was fixed. Just do your research and be careful . As a Woman, many shops will charge you more money because they think you are naïve. It is sad but true. Just call around and get quotes before you get your work done, that is a lesson that I’ve learned.

They never call me back

Went last week for an oil change after getting a coupon in the mail.The coupon advertised $45 synthetic oil change + free tire rotation, 59 multi-point inspection and break pad check.Tire rotation was not done (I marked the wheels). I specifically asked the front desk person when I picked my car if they did the tire rotation and he said it was done.Multi-point inspection not done (no report or summary provided). No report on the break pads. On top of this, the driver seat now has light stains on it.I thought I was saving some money because the dealers coupon offered $75 oil change. When I did the last oil change at the dealer, they provided a report on the multi-point inspection, the tires were actually rotated, they washed the car and vacuumed the interior and they used seat covers to prevent staining.In conclusion, I will not come back to this shop.

I have been going to University Auto for many years now. My trust in their expertise, honesty and judgment remains just as strong as when they salvaged a 2003 Camry that would have otherwise been junked (its still going strong at 300,000 miles) . They do good work, are prompt and organized, and charge fair prices. They diagnosed a hidden, previously undetected defect in a factory installed battery in my 2015 Toyota. This enabled me to get it replaced by the dealer 30 days before the warranty would have expired. They provide rides and have a comfortable waiting space with coffee, water and chips . ( They are also near Panera Bread and bike/walking paths by the river)

I have gone to this shop for years and always been very happy with the result. A family run business like me, their service is top notch. Prompt, helpful and standing by their work. Their location is super easy to find, plenty of parking and they can do hybrids and other types of cars too. They should be a go to for any auto service for your car/truck.

I dropped my car off for an oil change. I was asked what time I needed it back and they were accommodating and had the car ready when I needed it! They identified some additional service items and included actual pictures of the problem parts. Its really nice to be able to see the broken parts before authorizing the service! Overall great experience working with the people at University Auto.

Most efficient and topnotch shop I have ever been too. They had me in and out in less than three hours. A tuneup on a Venza that the Toyota dealer quoted me close to a thousand dollars. Oil change, tuneup and warranty on all parts 5 yrs. Exceptional and polite staff.

I took my diesel to the dealership twice before looking for a REAL mechanic to handle my truck repairs. These guys will be the LAST place you will ever need to find. Theyve found and fixed all the issues I had been having with my truck and have gone above and beyond to make my experience a great one. They have my support now... I took my car in at 8am to get my engine flushed and oil changed. They were more affordable than other places i recieved a quote from. Both Cameron and Nick gave great customer service over the phone as well as in person. I appreciate the fact that they were very direct and professional about their service. They returned my car the same day, and they even cleaned it and left a thank you note with chocolate. I will definitely be returning for future car repair with University Automotive.

I used to got to Jiffy Lube, but have never liked the price for the service received. After reading reviews online, this was one of the best rated ones, so I decided to try this shop out. Needless to say I am always impressed with:-The friendliness of Doc at the front desk. I would have to say that he is probably the number one reason that I come into university automotive. He always remembers my name and genuinely asks how I am doing, and I never feel like he is pressuring me into buying something I dont need. He is comfortable advising me on where to get a specialty service that they dont provide.- A free car wash is a really nice perk because the inside and outside of my car both look great. Its not just a hose down and then send the car on the way, they actually do a nice job.- The price is really great. I get several mail offers for a discounted oil change if I bring in the coupon and I received a ten dollar rebate for the next time I went in. Referred my girlfriend and I received twenty dollars in the mail with a thank you, so that was very nice.- I always forget they leave a bag of candy in the car with a thank you. Always makes my day.Overall, I would definitely recommend this shop if you are on a budget and want a smaller place that will pay more attention to your car.

I took my 2013 VW Passat SE in do a power steering leak.University Automotive diagnostics said... it was the return hose on my power steering sytem, wich was incorrect it was the reservoir for the fluid. This is hundreds of dollars cheaper.

It gave urgent and non urgent issues that needed attention. I did not feel any pressure to fix anything right away and I appreciated all the extra information. I really dont care about a car wash if i wanted a car wash i would go to one or do it myself. What I do care about is FAIR PRICES, EXCELLENT REPAIR WORK and Reliable information even when speaking to a female or an obviously uninformed male about auto motive repair. Most people google repair problems before going to a shop to see if they are even giving you close to truthful information I know I do.Oil changes no big deal...if they scam something off your car like a fuse cover or something you will not notice till you look for it shame on everyone. This is a tricky business and I only pray if I take my cars here it will be a good experience

Thank you to University Automobile for being the most accessible and most responsive shop in my recent experience! We needed a quick oil change, and when they found another necessary repair they were able to get us in the next morning, which was excellent as we were on a short leash, time-wise. I had a complication the morning I came in for the oil change, but they worked with my schedule and still got me to my next appointment on time. Throughout it all they were professional and understanding. I will definitely recommend UA to people I know and use you again in the future. Car maintenance and repairs are never fun. Went here today for the first time and Im so impressed with their customer service. I am not a fan of being treated overly nice, I just want to be treated like a person. University Automative does that right. Irvine(forgive me for the spelling) and Mark(again, might be wrong) were both great employees.Also Sac State students! They will shuttle you to campus! So if you have some morning classes, this place is perfect for you.

We had a breakdown on our way up to Washington. They fit us in despite how busy they were. They were very professional and kept us posted on the progress. They also provided us a ride back to our hotel while they worked on the truck. They got our truck fixed within the day and charged a very fair price.

Saw some raving reviews so I decided to try and schedule an appointment for some work to be done on my truck.I work off of Truxel in Sacramento. I asked if they have shuttle service and the gentleman stated yes. I explained that I would need a ride back to Truxel and he stated that’s to far. Guess I’m taking my business elsewhere.. I guess 16 miles is too far..

I love this place! I had just taken my car to the dealer to have some recall issues addressed. They proceeded to tell me that there were many things that needed to be replaced on my car after they did their 28 point inspection. I took it to University Automotive two days later just to get a second opinion and get the brakes done and guess what? They didnt find anything wrong with it! Talk about honest! I highly recommend them!

O m g. This is customer service like we grew up with in the old days! A state of the art car shop with old fashioned great care. Excellent waiting room —-with snacks. And get this— they vacuumed our cars!!!!! I brought my 2013 plug-in Prius for servicing, and my daughter’s 2010 Ford Escape for oil change. Fair price and unlike so many other shops that push the upsell by making you worry that if you don’t get more work done your car will fall apart. I felt confident our cars were taken care of properly, and I feel like we found a great place to bring all 5 of our family cars in the future!

Was looking at a used Toyota Tundra down in the Sacramento area. I am from the state of Washington so I needed a mechanic to inspect this used vehicle. I am so glad that I called these guys. There inspection was thorough, including pictures and a great report. Donald, the tech that inspected the vehicle, called me after the report was sent to my phone. Boy am I glad that I used these guys because the Tundra turned out to be quick the problem child. Had many hidden issues that I could not have seen, and the dealership was not willing to disclose. I am so thankful for the great service and honesty!

After my husband and I reached the end of our rope with our previous technician, I was referred to University by a friend of mine. Even though University was a little out of our way, I trusted her judgment and decided to check them out. After a few conversations with Donald (on the phone and in person) and Craig (on the phone) about my situation and services, I found them to be, not only knowledgeable, but trustworthy, timely, and responsive. Thats basically what I want in an automotive service; I dont expect much more. However, University takes it to the next step. Their shop is immaculate (outside of the dealership, Ive never seen an immaculate automotive shop), their employees are genuinely polite and helpful, they have a shuttle service, AND they left me with a thank you note and tasty goodies in my car. I am very happy to find such a repair shop, my Toyota Camry 1990 was in a horrible condition when I took it to that shop, they diagnosed all the major problems relating Struts, Timing Belt, serious oil leaking in many places, changing the Gaskets, and many other issues and when they do repair or change any part they do it 100% correct, reliable service they do offer, they are very serious when they work and they tell you whats wrong with the car before changing any part and its up to you whether you give your order to repair it or not.They are friendly, polite, efficient, use new parts, very trusted staff.Thank you very much for your honesty, and professional achievements.

Just had oil/filter change along with 40-point inspection completed today. I must say, I was absolutely pleased with the friendliness and service received. The front staff, Doc, was very helpful and courteous. Beyond my expectations, I also received a free car wash for my SUV, including vacuuming, tires were checked and topped off with air. I also received an unexpected package of girl scout cookies to express their appreciations. This complete service was performed under a $10 Groupon offer purchased nearly a year ago. This is the first time Ive use them and am so glad I found them. I found their staff to be trustworthy and took the time to explain the results and current condition of the vehicle. I was completely satisfied (A+) and do highly recommend University Automotive for future work.

As we girls we probably dont even know anything about mechanics or car fixing. There is tons of car repair shops but not all of them will support you in a great service and assistance and at a very good prices so you wont have to pay 3000 dollars for a basic problem. University Automotive is always reliable, friendly, and honest! They arent pushy, they offer great services (repair, transportation while your car is in the shop, etc), and they leave your car looking better than they found it (with goodies in the seat)! :) This is the best car shop in Sacramento!

Great place to take your car for oil changes, tune-ups, or major work. They might be a bit expensive, but its worth it. They do quality work.. which you definitely want for your car. Most recently I brought my Audi in for turn signal problem on my. They fixed it in no time. They also wash your car for you! Will definitely come back!
