It is always a pleasure to walk into Sacramento Specialty Auto. This visit was no different from my usual experience -- an efficient analysis of the issue with my A/C system and much personal attention and service along the way. They make sure that I understand the issue and the plan for a fix. By early afternoon they had obtained and installed a required part and I was able to drive away most pleased. The special treat for me was the return of the shop dog Dozer after an absence of three years. He welcomed me as an old friend and literally made my day. Thanks to everyone at SSA.

This was my first time here so of course I was skeptical and Im used to taking my car to a different shop. I want to start by saying I will be coming to this shop from now on. I love how they do there invoices. They are very detailed and organized. Which is important because I want to know what Im paying for. When they ran the diagnostic on my car they sent me this electronic inspection that tells me what they found wrong. I really like this feature because it gave me proof of what was going on with my car instead of verbally telling me. They also had no problem with giving me a ride home when I dropped my car off to them. Krissy gave superb customer service. She helped me when I was stressed with the grand total of the cost on my car and help me through the whole process of providing me with a price that was within my budget. She gave excellent recommendations and explained everything. This made me feel safe and I didnt feel like I was getting ripped off, which is a great feeling to have when youre trying out a automotive shop. I got a quote here they told me $941 to do a lower control arm and the service your mechanic said they would come to my house and do the same job for $318 the same exact thing only the difference is your mechanic guaranteed me a Toyota part from the dealership with lifetime warranty, I wonder what they were using for $941 on Richards Blvd? Gold?, platinum? Fraud? Who knows but I think the other 5 star reviews are fake

So far so great! Just got it serviced yesterday. Smoother, minimal rattle/ sound and feels great. Sarah took care of me from the get go. I think they have a great value in their oil change, I have a Toyota Prius 2011 full synthetic, plus a 60+ point inspection diagnostic included when leaving the car there, 78 bucks out the door.Also got my air filters replaced which was long overdue, cabin and engine which were dirty due to the smoke and fires. Also completely & safely cleaned out the piping and inner tube system of the air circulatory system. Cost of filters, system clean plus labor was around $100.They got me in when everybody else was full, kept in touch, texted a full diagnostic report with photos. The more information, clarity and detail the better. We all know the classic crooked mechanic has screwed it up for everybody else that’s why honesty and service is so paramount in any industry, let alone the automotive. Do your due diligence, I’m glad I found this place!

I have been bringing both of my cars here for servicing for a number of years. They are located close to my job and also close to my home which is a bonus. Subaru Specialities has been my “go to” shop for 15+ years. The front office and mechanics have been forthright in what is needed to be done. I trust them completely with my Subaru which now has over 150,000 miles.

I ended up taking my car here because I saw the great reviews and i’m new to the sacramento area. I wanted to find a good car repair place. My car was making some noises (probably the transmission) and they revised the entire car which was great. However, I took my car back on Friday (didn’t drive it at all saturday) and drove a few blocks on Sunday to get groceries. My car was heating up and was smoking from the hood. Turns out they either forgot to put the coolant cap on or didn’t tighten it enough. I had no coolant when I opened the hood of my car. Luckily for me I was going back home and had the chance to park my car before it can get worse.

Great experience getting my car maintained for its manufacturer routine maintenance. They explain all of their work before, during, and after. I recommend!

I dropped my car off on Tuesday morning. Kristy called me Tuesday afternoon and stated that they were short workers and she would have an diagnosis and estimate later in the day, which I really appreciate. However, Kristy never called on Tuesday.On Wednesday afternoon I called and John answered. I explained to him that I was calling about my car and he told me that Kristy would call me back. By 3:30pm I did not hear from Kristy.I was concerned so I stopped by the shop. Kristy was not there. John greeted me and went on to explain that Kristy was going to call but she had to leave. John then explains to me they were slammed with work and that he would have my car ready tomorrow.Why couldn’t he have told me this on the phone when I called?Why would I leave my car with a shop that is trying to complete more repairs then they can handle.!John was a real duche bag. Very rude and could careless about communication with the customer.John,You should consider working on your customer service skills. Being mean and rude is a reflection of what you thought of me. It must be easy to be mean and rude to someone when you think less of them..

Well I could write a whole page about there lack of detail, There lack of being a pro!!.How they dont finish the work order.and how they just ASSUMED stuff works and check ok!!!but basically the 45 point inspections is not done professionally.or with any real testing.As I had multiple stuff that has not worked in a while yet they say they tested and marked ok.¿¿I was highly disappointed,I tried to discuss this with them and I got well thats free.!!!!!OK so since its free it doesnt matter if its true!!!!! Wow and thats a professional shop they claim .for the money its def not worth going to have something trouble shot.or anything that requires skill and good management. Go to the dealer .

The shop was very clean. Smitty was very helpful & efficient. As the work to be performed was going to take some time, Smitty arranged to have a worker (Alex) drive my wife and I home, and then pick us up when the work on the car was completed. Alex is very personable and was easy to talk to. There were no surprises on the bill - what Smitty quoted was the final price. The shop performed a multi-point inspection on the car at no cost. Happily, only a minor item was found. Overall, we were very pleased with the service we received. We would use this shop again.

The shop squeezed me in this morning without a fixed appointment to reattach the plastic shield under the car. It was dragging on the ground. They didnt charge for this service. I will schedule an appointment to have them replace that unit, as it is pretty beaten up, I understand. Love these folks! Cant recommend them highly enough.

Had broken transmission mount which they fixed, thus allowing us to drive to Reno and back with no worries. Also got tires -- which we bought there some time ago -- rotated. Will be bringing it back in on Tuesday. June 1st for additional work there was insufficient time from us to complete then. Well satisfied!

I found this shop after my trusty mechanic of 25 years retired, based on recommendations from folks on NextDoor. I have an old Subaru with 220k miles on it, and have done lots of work on it, and want it to get to 300k, which Scott assured me we could do! Scott and Krissy know how explain things so well -- Krissy is a Jeeper and knows cars!! (go girl!) -- and both of them are reasonable with what customers want. I never feel upsold to pushed to do things that I dont want to do. I appreciate honesty and integrity, and will keep coming back!

Ive been here twice. Im so glad I found this place. Its near my office and not too far from my home. Customer service is always great. I came for 1) an oil change and 2) a tire repair. During the oil change, I was told that an alignment was needed so it was good timing, and their pricing is reasonable. The tire had a a screw in it, in between the tire treads. They fixed it - no charge. And even vacuumed my car and wiped my window! So happy.Note: Ive tried making online appointments. Its best to call because sometimes the online appointment application is not working well.

Had an inspection done on a recent purchase here. Turnaround was relatively quick, and the inspection was extremely thorough (it included pictures, measurements, hand written notes, etc.). I would absolutely take a car here for a PPI. That said, based on their quote for repairs Im guessing their labor rate is slightly above average for Sac. That isnt necessarily a criticism, quality work generates a price premium. But its good to know what youre getting in to going in.

After our 2015 Outbacks warranty expired, we looked for a shop nearby and found this one. So glad theyre around. Professional, clean, fast, and fair. We bought our Outback because pound-for-pound, and dollar-for-dollar, it does exactly what we expect and comfortably. So when we take it to a shop, we want it taken care of right so we dont have to worry about anything down the road. Well be going here for the life of our Subie.

I had the best mechanic but he moved out of state so I needed to find a new one. I looked at reviews, then called and asked to speak to a manager or owner. The owner was very articulate and explained how they are very transparent. The day I brought my car in to be checked the service writer was very nice (he asked me “would you like me to wear a mask; we want you to feel comfortable”). Although the man had excellent customer service skills he wrote up an estimate that was over $2000! This was after I explained that I don’t have money. I asked the service manager to review the estimate and I explained my situation to him; he understood and went through the estimate. In the end the service manager was able to significantly decrease the price. I might go back I’m not sure yet... I will say that when I drove my car after they did the inspection and prior to doing the service, the inside was dusty because they left a window open. I also sent the owner an email and he didn’t respond to it which I’m my humble opinion does not demonstrate good customer service skills. We will have to see how the car does before I decide whether I will be a repeat customer...

Scott my service advisor was awesome and informed me every step of the way as to what was going on with my vehicle.. I really appreciate how detailed the inspection report is. The report really gives you insight and helps you make a informed decision on the priority of care your vehicle needs.

I like the place. It is very near my place. It is kind of pricey but Scott gave me some discount. I would have given you a five star but the supposedly one day service took 3 days. I know it is not your fault because the tires need to be ordered and it did not come on time but at least had given me a heads up so I can rent a car and plan my day accordingly.

Usually a good experience here, I came in for an oil change, was told it’ll likely take 1-1 1/2 hour for it to be done and I was ok with that but, my car has been sitting outside for awhile meaning it’s been done but they just haven’t processed the paperwork so all in all it took 2.5 hours. Was quoted for a cabin filter which my old car doesn’t even have. Then when I came home to check under the hood, the dipsticks for the engine oil and transmission oil both were not latched. Was told that I’ll be needing a rear drum replacement but up to now I still haven’t received the quote that the guy told me he was going to email. They’re not usually this sloppy but I don’t know what happened that day.

The mechanics at Specialty Automotive do a great job on all repairs, and I wouldn’t take my Subaru to anyone else. The people in the front office are very professional, even taking pictures of the items that need repair and explaining how they will proceed. I rely on them to keep my vehicle running and give them my highest recommendation.

I just moved into the Davis area from Texas and was looking for a extremely reliable and trustworthy shop to do a pre buy inspection on a Subaru Forester. I was blown away by how polite and friendly Alex was, and how he actually set me down and went through everything on the car, even tho it was all in great condition. After talking about the car, it turns out that they actually specialize in Subarus and are direct competition with the subi dealers! I have a feeling that if I need anything, Im going to come back to them!

Took my car in cause my battery died. Those mechanics said my cable was corroded and had to be replaced. Everything was $500. Now I thought about it, it wasnt even corroded. Should have went my mechanic. Will never go back there

I had a problem with a turbo charger on my Subaru. It occurred during the 3 year shop warranty period and they replaced the turbo at no cost. My Subaru dealer only has a 1 year warranty for a similar service. I am very happy I had Sacramento Specialty Auto do the work for me. They picked me up at the airport where I had to leave my rental and even filled the tank for my trip north. Great customer service!

Part stores kept telling me my battery was fine, but instead of getting 10 hours of radio play with the engine off, I was barely getting 10 minutes! They told me to get a thorough electrical diagnostic. I turned to Specialty Auto Repair and they did a very thorough diagnosis and told me there was no problem with the electrical system. I got a new battery but if I need it I will certainly go back to them to get a new alternator! Did I mention that they did not charge me for the diagnosis? Well they didn’t! Can’t recommend anyone better! I can trust them and that’s saying a lot!!!

The pricing is fair and they set you up with an account that rewards you points with every service so you can earn free services. This was a “Great Experience” of which I received professional customer service starting with my 1st phone call of which, I spoke with Scott the service manager. He was able to get my car into their shop quickly. They followed through with everything they said they were going to do and fixed the problem regarding my radiator that had started to over heat from time to time. They made it very easy to drop off my car and they also provided me a ride back to work in a timely manner. They diagnosed the problem, contacted me to discuss what they had found was the problem and fixed it at a reasonable price and was able to pick up car by the end of the day!!! We asked Sacramento Specialty Automotive to inspect our car and provide a complete list of repairs need. Throughout the process, I felt that the staff was thorough and honest about the major and minor repairs needed. Because we have an older car, we had a good discussion about the repairs that were needed and whether the car was worth the investment. They provided good advice and were helpful throughout the process.

These people are amazing. They were something really strange wrong with my car. It has been fixed by the prior owner. I just bought the car.Sacramento Specialty Auto Repair totally! Stood behind their prior work of a couple months back. They tested the bushings on the sway bar. Found it really dude need to be replaced. They replaced it free of charge because it was under warranty.Its not often a company will stand behind their work, like these people do.I wouldnt take my car anywhere else but to Sacramento specialty Automotive.The staff are extremely friendly helpful and a pleasure to work with.

Synthetic oil change, tire rotation and 21 point check for $105 and I waited at the shop and it took less than the hour estimate with a clean bathroom and waiting area with snacks and power outlet.I didnt have to fend off a bunch of up selling like the uncomfortable business model at Jiffy Lube.Im fairly confident their 21 point check is a little more in depth and professional than the high school kids at Jiffy Lube who cant have years of experience as those kids are just getting started in their career.Thanks again for the great work and peace of mind.Kale

I first visited Sacramento Speciality Automotive last week and I am so satisfied with the service they provided! I took my Subaru in knowing that it would likely need many repairs. After the crew looked it over, Krissy approached me with a list of the recommended repairs, their prices, and explained the warranty on the repairs (3 years or 36,000 miles). Krissy also assured me that they use OEM parts where required. My car had to be kept over the weekend and I didn’t have a ride home, so an employee drove me home for free. The work on my car was finished when they said it would be. When I came to pay and pick up my car, my debit card was declined and it took 40 minutes to resolve the issue. Even though it was after hours by this point, Krissy patiently stayed with me until I could pay, and she was very nice about it all. YOU ROCK, KRISSY. When I finally got into my car, I was pleased to find that they had vacuumed the interior for me. I’m very happy with the car and customer service at this place, and I’m so glad that I’ve found a trustworthy auto shop that specializes in Subarus.

I’ve had several oil changes and other maintenance done on my Subaru at this service shop and I will never go anywhere else. The overall check is thorough, they send you text updates on your service progress, they email pictures of their findings. Never once did I feel I was pressured into a maintenance that wasn’t needed. They finish on time and do quality work. Prices are of course better than at the dealership and you have access to your car maintenance records. Very professional.

I was so impressed with the service I received and even more grateful at the outcome! Alex took the best care to explain everything a detail and answer my many questions. He took extra steps to make sure he was getting me the best value and not wasting my money or time but also making sure that my daughter was back on the road safely! Great place just down the street from work, too. Can’t believe I never realized they were there! Very accommodating, efficient and honest. I called and was able to get in the same day. I just got a new set of tires so wanted to check the alignment. No charge for the inspection and received an honest diagnosis. Will definitely be a repeat/regular customer!

Sacramento Specialty Automotive is wonderful. Ive had my Honda in for big and small services now, and each time theyve taken wonderful care of me and my car. Their pricing is fair and the quality of work is top-notch. They communicate well from start to finish, and made great recommendations. Im from a small town, and have found nothing like these guys elsewhere outside my home town. I was sent to them by a friend, and have sent friends along to them. A great mechanic is hard to find, and Sacramento Specialty Automotive is a gem.

Great experience! I had A/C trouble but the car wouldnt display the problem in the shop so they offered to give me the car back with no charge and said I could bring it back in anytime, no hassle at all. Very friendly people.

My head gasket on my Subaru Outback blew, and I needed a Subaru specialist. I looked up SSA and they were so friendly, honest and helpful during this process. We ended up fixing my whole car up so it’s good to go from here on out. I highly recommend them, and thank you Tanner for your help!!!!

I never usually take my car to shops because it makes me worry, but for lack of tools I had to stop in for some work on my Subaru. Everyone was very friendly and professional and there was everything from unique sports cars to everyday commuters being worked on inside. They saved me money and took care of some things I was unaware of! Thank you guys I definitely will be returning for my cars needs.
