Heres a five star review for Johns Auto Express. Ive taken several cars to this guy over several years and its always been great. I took my car in recently for an oil change and a brake check. They looked at my brakes and determined they were fine and the sound was probably the result of rain. I truly appreciate honesty in a mechanic and the good folks of Auto Express are exactly that. Always great service here! I have been coming to John for a few years, first with my 2001 Honda CR-V and now with my 2016 CR-V. John is always friendly and honest, and will tell you if something needs to be done right away or if it can wait. Prices are very reasonable and they always provide an estimate so there are no surprises. Needed an oil change today and John also fixed my squeaky brakes and helped me with a tire issue, and the car was ready right when I needed it. Definitely recommend!

They were available so I took a chance. The work was done well and quickly, and they were friendly and professional. Also, I was able to drop my car off and go to work and come back later in the day, so I didnt have to deal with arranging a shuttle. I just took the light rail, which is right around the corner, to my work.

Oil changed quickly. Owner seems nice. Some lady came in while I was chilling and argued with the owner about the price he quoted for a diagnostic on her internal a/c issue. She didnt see the difference in difficulty compared to some other issue she had at a separate other time and then she was yelling and threatening him. She left and threw garbage all over the lot. Bad behavior on her part. He handled it as best as anyone could given her manners.

This is a great shop to use in sacramento. He was honest and told me I still had some time left on my brakes. I went ahead and got them done because I have a crazy schedule. The price was great and he was quick. Will definitely come back.

John was so helpful! I brought my vehicle in after a failed smog test at a test only station. He was able to help me understand what was going on with my vehicle and actually helped me avoid getting ripped off in the future. The smog center I had chosen had apparently been testing my vehicle cold in an attempt to make more money through restests. They got me on 2 failed tests, it cost me over $110. John was able to go through a detailed diagnosis with me and in the end I didnt need to have any repairs done to my vehicle and it passed smog at Auto Express with John on the first try. Today, my car blew the spark plugs while driving down the highway. This shop, was the closest place I could get my car to, and Im glad I ended up here! From the start, the owner jumped right in to figuring out the issue. He explained why my spark plugs blew, how much it would cost for everything, and all while dealing with a county inspector at the same time! These guys are fast, honest, and they got it done right.

I’ve been going to this place for over 25 years. The owner John has been taking care of my family’s and my vehicles in a very honest and professional manner. He keeps his price reasonable but his job is always excellent. He does the best brakes in town and John is very knowledgeable. If he can’t fix it... he will let you know. Guy answers the phone, I told him my name and that I was a previous customer and tried to explain there was some kind of electrical issue because something keeps draining the battery. He could care less what I had to say over the phone. Just bring it in, we dont have computers for customer records. I should have known right then not to take it in...Since I work full-time, I asked a friend to drop off the truck.. Auto Express guy starts asking questions, my friend proceeds to try and explain what I already told him on the phone. The lights and hvac systems not turning off and the engine doesnt start evem though its a new battery. Dude straight up says, why did you tell me it was this, that doesnt make any sense, why didnt you just be quiet and let me figure it out? 😳 WHAT?? You are the one who was asking questions!! Then the mechanic says, well maybe you should take it somewhere else. GLADLY SIR! PoS

I took my car to the dealership for an oil leak and they gave me a quote for approximately $4000 worth of repairs where oil could come from. I declined the service and took my car to this guy and he basically said that the dealership was trying to rip me off and proceeded to check my car for the list of things the car dealership said was wrong with the car. He only agreed with one thing and it wasnt the oil leak. Which seemed to have resolved itself after my latest oil change. We let the car sit for an hour! No leak. Then run for an hour! No leak. He was very straightforward and showed me where my problems were located on my car. He doesnt try to add extra unnecessary services. I appreciated the straightforward approach. My new repair quote was $720. Go figure.

Jon is absolutely amazing. His prices are very reasonable as he does not try to rip you off. He is very honest and upfront with any problems your car might have instead of these other places that try to milk the most dollars out of you. Ive used him for replacing brake pads and oil changes, and I will happily go back to him when Im in need of his services again. You will not go wrong coming here!

John and his partner does great work in a timely fashion. they inspect your auto and inform you of repair that are required to make auto safe. They repaired my air, repaired left front wheel replaced brakes on my 1998 S10 and did a great job.

Took my truck here before for a smog and they got me in and I was done within 10-15 minutes. Went back to fix an the issue I had regarding my other truck, and the guys were able to take care of it. I was able to get my vehicle back the following day. Very friendly and honest about the job they do. I will most definitely be going back to them for vehicle services.

I arrived yesterday around 1:00 pm. To see why my A/C stopped working. They came up with the answer and explained to me. Air compressor had went out. I agreed to get it fixed. This morning about 9:30 a.m . I was called that its all done and ready to go. I arrived. He showed me all the work they did. Very friendly and I was very pleased with the fast good work they did. These guys are so great. They have great prices and work so quickly and efficiently. I needed my tail light to be replaced on my 2017 Hyundai Sonata. They were finished so fast and didnt break my wallet.

We went there to get our AC diagnosis. Whats 39.99 to have our AC diagnosis. We sat there we waited he thoroughly went through looking at pressures. When he was done, the man told us it was going to cost us $1,200. $600 for a cheap AC condenser $800 for a better one. 350 for labor. That was outrageous price. We found a lifetime warranty AC condenser for $90 online. Im sure his condenser would not be warranted lifetime. After I looked up AC condensers, I felt he was trying to scam us. Found a mechanic todays labor Hangar 50 bucks $200 tops. Please beware before you having to have him to work. Call around first very disappointed. The only positive note was forty bucks for a AC diagnosis.

John was great! I showed up first thing in the morning to get my smog test done on my F150 and was out by 720. It worked out so well that I quick turned at home and brought my focus in for a smog check shortly there after and again was out in about 15 min. Besides the quick service, and advice on CA registration rules, the early opening, 7 am, was a huge win. Thank you John!

My car began to break down on my trip, and in a huge time crunch to make our reservation we stopped at Auto Express. Told John about our situation and he was ON IT! My bearing and drum was completely shot and within forty minutes not only did he get the part, but got it on my car very quickly. He also topped off my fluids and made sure my tire pressure was good. He told me what he was doing the entire time too and was happy to explain it all to me without me even having to ask. I have always worked on my own cars and have a great deal of automotive knowledge, but no longer have a garage to work on my car. I found Auto Express on 16th & S St through a co-worker and met John and he really knows cars and is a great teacher. John explains everything and will show you what he is talking about...no one at a dealership has ever expressed their expertise like he does. Ive had this shop do several jobs on my car and Ill never take it back to the dealership which is just out to gouge...IMO. Johns prices are the cheapest Ive found and they perform a myriad of services like Smog Cert, diagnostics, tune-ups, oil changes, general maintenance, transmission and drive train work, cooling system and brakes and just about everything. A 5-star automotive shop!

I just found my new mechanic. I showed up there unannounced at 4:30 they close at 5:30. I knew I didn’t have time to get my brakes fixed just an oil change, but I asked about the brakes and they were able to get both done and I was out the door by 5:15! All for a great price. Awesome! I know where I’m going for my next smog check and any other problems.

They were very honest with me. They werent like the last auto shop that I went to that ripped me off just because Im a woman. These guys are very honest and walked me through the process of what they planned to do with my car. If they walked me through it and I understood it, they would probably do the same to you! The AC problem was very common and simple and I was quoted by a Honda dealership more than $1,000 above what John charged to fix. Loved the service that I received here. I somehow never noticed their location on the corner of 16th st. and S St. (even though theyve been in business there for 30 years), but Im very happy that I found them. I went in for a smog check which was taken care of right away, and it was cheaper than the other places that Ive been to. John seems like a very friendly/knowledgeable guy, and I will most likely take my car back in if I need repairs on it in the future.

Came in for a simple hose replacement. I brought the part myself, then John and his team installed it literally within 5 minutes of arriving. Fastest service Ive ever seen, and Ive been to several different mechanics in the area. Not only that, but he charged me far less than I expected. Auto Express offers great service. Easily my most favorite mechanic in town now. I used to go the dealership when I had problems, but this is a clearly better choice. I went to Auto Express seeking a smog check and oil change, and ended up leaving with smog check, oil change, brake pad replacements (a problem that John identified, thankfully), AND fixed wiper fluid hose (a problem that Ive had for >1 year). John was amazing. Went to Ford dealership twice and I feel like they didnt even know my car was an SUV. Charged a boatload to fix nothing and took a week each time. If you need a fancy showroom this isnt it...If you want your car repaired at a very reasonable price give John a call...Today i called every shop i could find and all wanted $200-$350 just to look at the Mercedes and diagnose it...Johns std price is $59.00 for a complete diagnosis and his advise was spot on..

This place is walking distance from my work so I can drop it off in the morning and walk over to pick it up later. They have real quality service, reasonable prices, and HONEST. I had them replace my battery a while ago and the owner even took photos of everything and showed me the box of the new battery so I knew what I was getting. I didnt even know enough to know what I was looking at, but the fact that he wanted me to know what I was getting and took the time to really demonstrate trustworthiness. I will take my car here every time and i recommend them to people frequently.

I brought my Ford Ranger to John. He did an awesome job fixing the transmission, air conditioning, power steering, and engine! This guy knows everything about everything when it comes to cars. Came in recently for emergency brake repair and they had me back on the road in less than 2 hours.Back when it was time for a timing belt change, they charged a solid $500 less than another local shop, and repaired a power steering pump leak without charging labor.

John and the guys here are great. When I drop off my car they tell me all of the up front costs that they already know about. They are also the best car mechanic I have ever been to in regards to calling me throughout the day with updates. Most car places I have to call to find out when my car is done but at Auto Express they update me every time they find something new or need a decision on if I want to replace a part. All of that aside, they are honest and helpful and explain everything to me and walk through every item of the receipt and costs before I sign and pay. The lot might not look fancy but I have been taking my car here for multiple years and they are wonderful!

I had a very good experience with this shop. I spoke with two different people at the shop, both were kind and courteous. They were flexible with the drop-off and pick-up of my vehicle. They also provided a very fair price for what I needed.

My oil indictor popped on late at night. Being from out of town and knowing I had a two-plus-hour drive home the next day, I went to my hotel and did a search of shops in the vicinity. Auto Express was near my hotel and opened early! I was there promptly at 7 am, but they were a little slow getting in. Im not a morning person, so I cut them some slack. I tried to find a coffee shop nearby and called them a couple of times. Someone finally arrived and I got back over there around 7:20. Phil was helpful and pointed me in the direction of a nearby warm coffee shop to wait. He called me about 25 minutes later to tell me my oil change was done and my car was ready. I made it on time to my 8:30 meeting and had an uneventful, but long drive back home later that afternoon. Great, speedy service!

Auto Express took me right in when I had a problem with my brakes. The service manager, or probably the owner, was very friendly and didn’t try to sell me a bunch of stuff I didn’t really need. He was so honest, he told me exactly what was wrong and also what I might want to get fixed in the future. He said I had been in danger and was so glad I came in for the repair. I knew he was right. I had absolutely no brake fluid. The light had been on for some time and when I had it checked by someone else they said I was fine. When my brake pedal went all the way to the floor, I knew that other person was wrong. He also fixed my back brakes when I thought there was a problem with my front brakes. The pads were worn to the metal. I can’t express enough how impressed I was with this kind man. His prices were also very reasonable. I highly recommend this service shop. I’m from out of town but come here frequently and I will always come back to Auto Express in the future whenever I’m in town and have any problems with my car. He was excellent! Especially being a women, a lot of car shops try to take advantage of our lack of knowledge about cars. And it didn’t take long!!! Thank you!!!

John is the best! I took my Nissan Altima for service at the suggestion of a friend and previous happy customer. John diagnosed the problem immediately and quickly fixed the problems. He replaced my motor mount, fixed the engine oil leak and replaced power steering pump. Not only did he do a great job, he has great customer service. He requested I bring it in a few days later to ensure things are running smoothly. Things have been great! My car runs like new again. The next time I brought my car in he replaced my headlight!! Its not an ordinary headlight. Usually the dealers have to special order it and charge an arm and a leg for it. John was able to obtain the lamp the same day, within minutes. Also, he did not charge for labor, just for the cost of the light. Johns prices are fair (below dealers), his attitude is great, hes really knowledgeable and his work is reliable. I definitely recommend him and his shop, Auto Express. I will definitely continue to bring my car here! No more dealers for me.
