Cant tell you how amazing this place is. Thomas was very helpful and a joy to talk to. I cant wait to go back and grab some more.
Excellent repair department. An interesting mix of old lamps, shades, and advert signs.
👍👍A+++ ANTIQUE SHOP LOTS OF TREASURES
The owner spent time with us to find the right pipe and finials for 2 lamps. She was terrific. Customer service was phenomenal.
I live in Houston and ordered hanging globes from the Lighting Palace in 2018. I give them 5+ stars for texting me so many options and helping me figure out what size globes fit my entryway. The craftsmanship of these fixtures is beautiful. Ive gotten countless compliments on them. Thank you, Lighting Palace!
The socket in an older brass lamp I’ve had for years failed. Changing a socket is usually simple, but not in this case,. After more than an hour of frustration, I brought the lamp to the Lighting Palace, a referral from a friend. Picking up the lamp a week later, I was happy to see that the new socket matched the original perfectly. These guys love lamps and talk about them enthusiastically. They specialize in repairing and restoring antique lamps and also handle consignments. When you go in, take time to check out their ornate and beautiful lamps.
This is a review for the Lamp repair side of The Lighting Palace.Ive brought lamps to be repaired in the past, only ever worked with Thomas. He is efficient and honest, listens to his customers, and loves lamps. Recently I took a mid-century lamp in whose wires had gotten crossed. Unfortunately, Thomas was out, but Tina was in.Dont take your lamp to Tina:1. Doesnt take notes2. Doesnt listen3. Minimal customer service skills4. Attempts to charge hidden fees5. Will tell you your lamp needs more work then it does, over-quotes the cost of replacement lamp parts !!!!I explained that the 3rd socket had gotten its wires crossed and was dead, and asked if the 1st socket could be tightened in its base. She did not listen to me AT ALL. After telling me all the things about the lamp the COULDNT fix (none of which was what was broken, btw) She wrote me a quote for 250-350, did not write anything down on the ticket except fix lamp $250-$350 and said Id receive a call about the final quote the next day, and also that they dont like repairing Mid-Century lamps.A week later I call and Thomas tells me the lamp is being worked on. I express surprise that they started repairing it as Id never gotten a call about the final quote. He apologizes, and says hell call me back when he finds out what happened.I hear back from Tina via VM. She says its a $25 fee to open the lamp up and see whats going on.NEVER MENTIONED THAT WHEN I DROPPED IT OFFOh, and by the way, the middle socket is dead. The wires got crossed. When we speak on the phone I tell her that if the middle socket is now broken, then someone at her store did it after I dropped it off. I remind her that my 3RD socket was broken when I brought it in. She immediately tells me that she resents the accusation that the store broke my lamp. I tell her that if the 2ND socket is actually broken, then Light Palace DID BREAK IT. She tells me to come get my lamp, basically that because I corrected her and reminded her why the lamp was brought in the first place that Im a difficult customer.I let her know when Ill be back in town and ask her when I can come get it. She says she doesnt know. I have to ask her if shes holding my lamp hostage. I tell her she can text me when I can come get it and she again says she has no idea when I can get my property. We hang up.I get a series of calls and texts later, she apologies for telling me the wrong info: the 3rd socket is broken, not the 2nd. They are not able to fix my lamp after all. Even offer to Shrink wrap the exposed cable for $150. In putting it back together, they completely ruin the wires, so now the entire lamp is dead. Oh joy.I go to pick up my now ruined lamp and she doesnt even want me in the store, because there are Happy Customers inside. She even asks me to apologize because she apologized to me. I let her know that this whole problem could have been avoided if she had just written down what I had told her when I dropped the lamp off in the first place. She tells me she never writes stuff down and that its always been fine, and she didnt want Thomas to work on my lamp in the first place. She refuses to let me speak with Thomas and try to get things sorted out.I like Thomas, and I like the work he does. Hes always treated me as a valued customer. Hes even created pieces from lamp parts for my costume shop that are unique and beautiful. The Lighting Palace has a wonderful selection of unique lamps, just dont take anything in to Tina, who never writes things down, will tell you your lamp needs more work then it does, attempts to charge fees that were never discussed, and expects apologies from the customer for her own bad behavior.Make sure the concerns are written down on the ticket.
The lady who seems like she is the boss is super rude. She treats customers as if they are bothering her. When I walked in, she was already helping a couple so I waited for her or the other employee to finish. She immediately dual tasked and said Yes which was I guess her desire to say can I help you. I asked for if they carried a certain product of which they did not have yet she proceeds to show me all the regular versions of that product that carry and named them all, in unnecessary detail, all the while then ignoring the customers she had already. I then inquired about a valuable antique they were selling for several thousand dollars which was priced at the market value. I said I remember when I was a young man how common they were as they only cost a couple to several hundred dollars but I still like them. She said I dont want to hear it. If I had a penny for everyone who comes in with some kinda story like that, Id be rich! and then walked off with original customer she interrupted helping to assist (that is a stretch saying that BTW). If you hate your job, quit. Otherwise I think she should look into stand up comedy, teaching kindergarten or being a suicide prevention representative because she has a real gift in empathy and treating others with kind cubn rtesy. Great Job! NOT
Rude rude rude RUDE!!! I have been here twice and that lady that owns the place is SO RUDE. The first time she yelled at customers for walking into the back-room. They didnt know it was her back-room, she didnt have a sign up or a rope blocking the room. The second time she yelled at me for taking pictures. She gave me some lame excuse that people copy her antiques...she is just rude. If someone wanted to copy something she had they can just Google it! Nothing is a secret these days, we all have the internet. She knew she was wrong for what she said because she had the nerve to say I didnt want to tell you to stop taking pictures in front of my customer. I was your customer!!! I have no idea how she stays in business. She seemed clueless. If you are reading this try to be a nicer to your customers!
Very friendly owners. Good competitive prices.
Walked in looking for a replacement lampshade, some parts, a chandelier for a client and a few crystals. I was patiently waiting for the front desk person to wrap up her non work related gossip session but I guess she was too busy to help me. Found a lamp that a client may have been interested in an went to snap a picture. Suddenly the worker acknowledged my existence and said we dont allow pictures here... And went back to her conversation with a sigh and an anyway. Needless to say, I will gladly take my business elsewhere.
Good selection but very expensive. I’ve been here twice and the owner was annoyed and unhelpful both times. She was too busy to helpme the first time, the second she made it seem like she was doing me a big favor by agreeing to sell a lampshade. I was also looking for a candle cover and a glass diffuser to go under a lamp shade. She had the candle covers but wouldn’t sell one me, saying she needed them for repairs. She was charging $45 for a diffuser that I’ve purchased at other stores for $15.
Have known Tom for years. Great guy! Willing to help with the smallest projects. Call in advance to see when he is available.
They have everything antique lighting. They also have antique gas pumps occasionally. Lighting palace also has huge antique whale ship anchors . Love it
Lady was very rude and didnt want to help me. Ignored me because I didnt have a photo of the lamp I was trying to replace fixture for. Cut me off when I was trying to explain how it looked dismissed me and then ignored.
Great place for vintage lighting!
Very disappointed! Asked for all parts to be replaced and to add a new cord with extended length. They extended the cord but did nothing else. They took almost 3 weeks and charged me almost $48.I wouldnt have mind the length of time it took if theyd kept me informed, but there was no communication from them, nor did they consult with me about not fulfilling my work request as I expected.
So many amazing lamps and lights!
Great place..friendly owner.
