Books and Beans is a fairly new establishment located in Rocky Mount Mills.There was a cool atmosphere with a minimalist decorating style going on. I think that it’s displayed perfectly.The barista was super friendly and nice. She made a wonderful vanilla latte, and the price was reasonable. The cashier was very social & nice. I am looking forward to coming back and trying more items on the menu.

My friend and I went here this morning and it is such an amazing place. The food was define and the staff were so nice. We have plans to come here again, I highly recommend.

Very calm and historic coffee shop, the decor and set up was super cute, the baristas were very friendly and seemed to enjoy their jobs (I asked for something cute, and they attempted to do some art on my latte) so I give them an A+ for effort!!Would most definitely go back!!

Love the location and the atmosphere and service! This place is a gem with the kindest baristas. The flavor of their roast tastes pleasant but way too light so I have to ask for an extra shot in any espresso beverage I get here. I love that they serve Around The Table baked goods!

Very nice atmosphere, clean and wonderful employees. Latte was not so good and so hot I scorched my mouth. The bagel wasn’t fresh or toasted fully and my drink never really cooled down to be drinkable. Maybe try checking the temp on the hot drinks as I’ve read other reviews about the temps. My friend however enjoyed his iced coffee and breakfast sandwich very much.

We were in Rocky Mount for a 2 night stay on our way to Charleston, SC. We stayed at the nearby tiny houses which was cute! We needed breakfast and Books and Beans was a short stroll away. Super cute place! My husband and I had the best egg breakfast sandwich ever! Brioche bun, turkey sausage by choice, good amount of cheese,Delivered hot to our table! Wish we had more time to try their sandwiches!

Books and Beans is a great little find. I have been here twice on my way through to get my Covid Vaccine. The location is in a nice little industrial complex, that looks like they repurposed an old building and gave it some great character.The sandwiches are amazing, and all named after famous authors and novels. The coffees are great too, but something I normally wouldnt get when grabbing a coffee surprised me, their chai.Probably the best chai Ive tasted very well made! If youre looking for a great sandwiches and good drinks this is a great spot to try.

This is a cool modern rustic place with great coffee and food. The interior is spacious. The service was great. The atmosphere was super chill. You can grab a book to read while you sip and unwind.

Stopped here for coffee/breakfast while driving through Rocky Mount. Excellent food and coffee, great service, reasonably priced, and nice atmosphere. Sandwiches are excellent and the staff is flexible about substitutions. Visited on a Saturday morning and it wasn’t overly busy — easily found a table and didn’t wait too long for food. Definitely recommend!

Cute place to eat. The hot drinks came out too hot to drink though, even after venting the drink through my whole meal.

This is such a lovely, clean, friendly little cafe. We stopped in on our way back to Raleigh from OBX for a bathroom, coffee and snack and we loved the experience.Family own and run, adorable theme and decor. You should absolutely stop in if you’re nearby!!

This is a small cafe at The Mills at Rocky Mount. The food was delicious and I was pleased the had sugar free coffee flavor options!

What a cool coffee shop! Very nice ladies behind the counter. Bright interior with a variety of tables, couch, bar at the window, and outside tables. Of course the coffee was great, and they have books available if you need one!

Excellent and friendly barista there. Delicious egg/bacon/cheese on a fresh roll.I forgot to ask, but it appears that the books are there for a person to read while there, not to purchase. But Good idea!

I wish this place was closer to home! The food was wonderful (I had the Great Gatsby sandwich), lattes were great and the space/decor are so cute! We had read A Woman is no Man, written by the shop owner, so it was a treat to get to meet her as well! She was lovely and so friendly. Although it is a good drive from home, I will definitely be back!

Books and Beans is literally one of my favorite places to be. The coffee is amazing, the baristas take their time with each latte. They use Counter Culture coffee, which tastes great. Their sandwiches have so much flavor! The owners happen to be pretty cool too.

What a gem! If I lived in Rocky Mount, Id be sure to be a regular here. Fantastic vibe, coffee, and (best of all?) selection of books! I love the library idea... wish I were around to take advantage of it.

Books and Beans is such a refreshing place to stop and grab a bite and a cup of coffee. The atmosphere is so light and inviting, and the dirty chai latte is otherworldly. I met the owner on my most recent visit, and she is an absolute delight - so it’s not surprising her shop is too! I just wish I lived closer so I could stop in more often!

Coffee was far too hot and lacked any real flavor. It tasted like it came out of a button pressed machine instead of actually being mixed together. The sandwiches themselves were pretty good, so try those. They really need some sort of music for background noise to cut through the clatter of plates and other patrons. Id also ask them to work with The Mills for better signage. We simply wandered in and had no idea what was in the building, unlike the other breweries and food places.This is a place that I wish existed back when I lived in Rocky Mount. If they would work on their coffee drinks, and not serve them is hot as they do, they would certainly be a contender regardless of the city they exist in. If you miss the coffee shop on Sunset, this is certainly a replacement.

Stopped here on my way through town and I was blown away. The staff were wonderfully pleasant and incredibly accommodating, coffee was exceptional, and the food... Oh the food. Honestly this was one of the most pleasant accidental discoveries Ive had, and I encourage anyone passing through or living nearby to make this a regular stop on your journey or daily routine.

Its not every day that you get to enjoy the best latte of your life while chatting with a New York Times Bestselling author. I drive to Books and Beans about once a month from Wake Forest for the dirty chai and the beautiful, light atmosphere. Ive tried to find an equivalent latte in Raleigh but have yet to find it. This place is truly a gem and worth a day trip to enjoy the food (The Hemingway is my favorite sandwich though the Hamlet is a close second and they have amazing GF bread) and walk around the amazing Rocky Mount Mills campus.

The atmosphere is very calm and relaxing. It’s a great place to relax during the day or to start off your morning. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.

A vibrantly, fresh, minimalist-style coffeehouse. I just moved here from GSO which has coffeehouses on every corner all throughout town, and I am ecstatic to see more locally owned coffeehouses populating RM. I think the way this place could really make a step up is if they were to get their coffee beans/grounds locally sourced from NC (different types dark roast, medium roast, light roast, etc.). This shows support to other local businesses, and who doesnt like fresh beans? The service was great, interior pristine, and convenient location. Kudos!Edit: Id love to hear about variety of roast updates! Not sure if the coffee I had was over-roasted, but I would love to see options of roasts to pick from on a countertop menu or something? Just as an option of feedback.

I love coming here for a variety of reasons, whether it’s to do some school work or meet with a friend, the atmosphere is always pleasant, inside or outside. Everything is delicious, but the lattes, chai tea, and great gatsby sandwich are my favorites. Staff are always friendly and keep the place nice and clean. Love having this place in our community.

Amazing experience! Got the great gatsby sandwich, the chipotle aioli was AMAZING!! Chai tea latte was great too! Great, welcoming environment and great decorations. The encouragement to read a book (wide variety) was really cute! Staff were super kind and service was quick! Great price for the food!!

I was very excited about trying this cafe but I was deeply disappointed and disgusted by the atmosphere of this establishment. My family and I felt uncomfortable with the environment and ultimately ended up leaving. Not inclusive. Do not recommend.

I really love Books and Beans, not just because my mama owns it. Everything is delicious, especially the Hemingway sandwich and the Iced Taro latte. My favorite thing about Books and Beans is the books. It is an amazing place to go read! Also, there is ice cream! They have inside and outside seating. I highly recommend Books and Beans! The staff is so nice and friendly. Can’t say anything negative about this place. It is a must to dine in soon.

Great Venue for a private event!Had the first event here for our friends baby shower and it was perfect! Brandon and Etaf were so easy to work with and helped us create a menu based on the (picky) baby mamas needs. The space is gorgeous so we needed very little decoration. Highly recommend - and excited to come back to buy a book and have a cup of coffee in the future :)

Its a great little place in a cool little area. We also got to talk with the owner, and NY Times Bestselling author, Etaf Rum. She was the reason for the visit and shes very gracious and humble in person.This place is a treat and I will definitely make the hour drive out to this place and the area in general again.

Books and Beans is unlike any other coffee shop I’ve ever visited that truly combines amazing pieces of literature with equally exquisite coffee. I’ve never had a latte so smooth as the ones served up by Etaf and her staff. Speaking on the staff, they’re customer service is of the same aforementioned quality.

I stopped here in passing, hangry and tired. The other restaurants were packed, closed, or expensive, so I searched for a different option for a simple lunch. I found this little shop and had a glorified grilled cheese sandwich, which was delicious. The decor is adorable as well.

I stumbled upon this gem while visiting from Asheville and was taken away by how beautiful it was. The energy in the space is so serene with the gorgeous mix of white minimalism and historic charm, plus the books add another layer of coziness. The cappuccino with the house made caramel sauce was perfect and the Rueben tasted delicious— and all the sandwiches are named after books! The owners are adorable and super friendly, and it was nice seeing how much they cared about their customers. I can’t recommend this place enough and will definitely stop whenever I’m in the area!

We were here for the tower lighting. We came in, knew it would be crowded and knew we would have to wait. We were okay with the fact that they were out of certain drinks. As we were waiting for our drink to be made, a guy came in behind us and she made several drinks for him very clearly because this was someone they knew. This is unacceptable and worthy of their first one star review. This added time to our already long wait and really, really put a damper on what was otherwise, a really great evening. Also, they really shouldnt be loudly talking about how busy it is, how unprepared they were and how they were making us wait without speaking to us directly until the very end when they handed us our drinks.
