Visited the diner that everyone talks about. Great experience. Helpers greet you like family as soon as you walk in.. Ordered the eggs benedict with hash browns. Helpers are very attentive. Got there early (8-ish) to beat the crowd and Im glad I did because it gets busy.

Service was poor. Food was great. Sunday lunch with the wife.We were seated promptly but left to our own devices to find a server to take our order. While there seemed to be plenty of severs, our server was somewhere out of sight for the first 20 minutes of our visit. We finally asked for our server and twin 2 appeared from the back to take our order. Both of us ordered chicken fried chicken with gravy on the side. With a cup of brocolli cheese soup. We were asked if we wanted our soup with the meal or in advance to which we asked for in advance.Hostess came out of the back carrying a piece of bacon she munched on while walking through the dining room to the front. Some pieces broke off and were kicked about in the high traffic dining room.About 15 minutes later someone else brought us two generous plate of chicken smothered in white cream gravy. Twin 2 admitted her mistake and whisked the plates to the back. A few minutes later she remembered our soup. It was delivered without crackers so we had to ask for them. The soup was delicious.Sometime later our chicken fried chicken arrived as ordered. It was excellent as were the garlic mashed potatoes.Presumed manager Lenny never greeted us or asked about our service. He did clean up some tables while the bus boy was socializing with servers making up silverware.Soft drinks sold by the can at all can drink prices. We opted for Lake Ray Hubbard tap water. We will not be returning anytime soon. There is no excuse for poor service when there is plenty of staff.Prices were average with the exception of the soft drinks.

Good place for classic diner food. The sign tells you this. If you want classic diner food with breakfast lunch and dinner, this is your place. It’s a casual place that would be please many pallets. That being said, as a minor foodie, this place was just okay for me. At the most basic of places, I feel like their should be something special that makes them unique. Nothing on the menu stood out to me. Nothing makes this place special. It is a menu you will find at any diner in the US.I had the garden omelet. It was good. I wish there had been an option besides cheddar cheese. I think a white cheese would have made it so much better. My friend just had a fruit cup and toast. Toast cake pre-buttered which was nice as that meant it was put on while the toast was still warm. The staff was friendly. We sat and talked a good while and we were not neglected. We were checked up on sporadically which was nice. Our waitress even took my card to the cashier instead of making us do it on our way out. This is a HUGE improvement from the only other time I’ve been there. Years ago my husband and I attempted going on a busy weekend morning only to leave after fifteen minutes of no service and watching another later-arriving table get served right away. So I can definitely say this experience made up for that!I’d go here when I’m in the mood for a simple breakfast date with friends.

Should have shut this place down along with Route 66 years ago. Enough grease inside the chicken tenders to grease a 1989 Buick, could have played hockey with the cornbread muffin and the eggs looked like intestines of an alien. Raw steak twice! I ordered steak and extra eggs with biscuits and gravy. I was very hungry due to the extra long wait for the food. I was served the steak and it must have been frozen solid and only cooked for 30 seconds. The first cut was dark red and bloody. I ordered it medium. It was sent back and it came back almost as bad. They only took off that portion of the meal and no other compensation. I wont be back.

The food is pretty good and the portions are large. I could not get over the overwhelming odor when I walked in the door. I wanted to leave immediately, but the people I was with wanted to eat. Its also a little dirty inside. All the seats were dirty and split open. They could use some new furniture. If this place hired a cleaning crew to come in everyday and used an air purifier, I would give them 4 stars.

Both the food and the service were excellent. Server was upbeat and friendly. The place was busy and the wait for the food was reasonable considering the tiny kitchen in which they cook for 20+ tables. I had Migas and they were excellent. Seats are torn and dirty. The waitresses stack food plates to carry them to customers. This means your food is touch the plate above it. The burger patty only took up half the bun. The fries were undercooked. The chicken salad was warm. The sodas were nasty. This was a very expensive adventure into tacky decor, lackluster food and a possible encounter with food poisoning. For a “restaurant” that averages $12 a person, I would expect the quality to be at least that of an IHOP or Whataburger. We would have been better off eating from a gas station. We will never enter this place again.

Excellent food with McDonald’s customer service. This place clearly has their favorite customers and yes they get tended to first. My wife and I always have to sit for 10-12 minutes before we are acknowledged at our table. Even walking through the front door is UNWELCOMING. None of the servers or employees say “Hi” or “Good Morning” they just keep they’re heads down like nothing is going on. I understand that it’s a busy diner but it literally takes five seconds to greet someone That’s walking through the front door. NO ONE AT ROUTE 66 CARES ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY JIST WANT TO GET THE CUSTOMERS OUT THE DOOR AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. (The coffee refil guy is pretty cool though, and very persistent lol)
