Their customer service skills are horrible. Theyre unfriendly. Theyre grumpy when you call. They got mad at me for calling for an update on service a week after I dropped off the mower. They could have just said were really busy and havent had a chance to look at it. But to be annoyed that I called to check in? Also, I dont think theyve ever heard of Loctite or a torque wrench -- nuts and bolts keep falling off my mower after theyve serviced it.

I purchased my lawn mower at Brighton Mower Service years ago, and have had it serviced there ever since. I have always been pleased with the service. But this year, in the midst of social distancing, the owner Dave went above and beyond in terms of service. And thanks to him, I was able to get the grass cut today before the rain arrived. Thank you very much, Brighton Mower!

Brought in my brand new CS-590 because it wouldnt start right out of the box. After two days I called to see if they found anything ( I really wanted to use my new saw ). They said they hadnt looked at it yet. After three more days I called again. They said they still hadnt looked at it but they would be working on two cycles this week. After another week I went to pick it up. They said they still hadnt looked at it but they would be working on two cycles this week (same thing they said last week).I bought a new saw so I had reliability and didnt have delays in my work schedule. Whats the point if your brand new equipment is sitting on their shelf?

UPDATE: After a phone call the owner was prompt in helping out. Although Im a little disappointed I had to call. I will update the review once service is complete.I called on 10/25 about having a snow blower serviced. They said it was still Fall so theyd have to prioritize lawn mowers first. Okay, thats fine. The person on the phone said they would look at it in the following 2 weeks.3 weeks passed since that initial phone call and Ive heard nothing from them. We had a snow storm this week so I called them up and they mentioned they were swamped (likely due to the storm). I told them its been three weeks since our chat and over 2 weeks since they picked the device up.The owner said hed move us to the front of the line because [I] sounded anxious. The owner was helpful, had it looked at on Thursday, called Friday with an update and then again today after a full assessment. While Im disappointed I had to call things seem to have moved quickly since then.

Just from my phone call, I knew I would not do business with this Co.The man on the phone was arrogant and condescending. Any questionI asked was answered with an abrupt response and I was made to feelas though I were ignorant and somehow bothering this employee by asking a question! If this is how they treat customers on the phone,I can only imagine how bad it would be to work with them, and after reading other reviews, I see I might be right. I Do not recommend.

Brighton mower service INC- dishonest? Incompetent? part 1Cliff note:I was swindled out of $63 after I was quoted $21 for a simple diagnosis. I ended up diagnosing the issue myself which cost me $49 for parts plus my time. I question everything this guy says. Nothing he told me was true. He tried to swindle my brother out of $49 as well, but he chose to forfeit his mower to this guy instead.DiagnosisJohn deere- 1) V-idler pulley 2) New Belt 3) tune up…….Yard machine- 1)New carburetor 2) Tune up 3) New battery……….Dishonest? Incompetent? You be the judgeI personally will NEVER go here again. I would rather pay more for ACCURATE HONEST work.Full story:At the end of the 2019 season my John deere stopped moving. It would turn on and stay running, but would not move. There was a loud clanking noise that sounded like was coming from the rear. I have never worked on any lawn mower push or ride-on. I however do all my own work on my vehicles. I did not want to take the time to tear it apart myself since I had no experience with mowers, so I put it in the shed.Fast forward to march 18 2020, my brother picked up a yard machine riding lawn mower that he wanted to flip. It started, but did not stay running. I figured it was good as any time to get both the riding mowers diagnosed. I called around to local mower businesses. Brighton mower service had the cheaper hourly rate and they were the closest to me. The owner quoted me $21 each mower for diagnosis, so I loaded them up and dropped them both off same day March 18. When I arrived, the owner met me and I explained I was the guy that just called about the diagnosis for the riding mowers. I continued to explain to the owner that both started, one stays running but would not move (john deere), the other would not stay running (yard machine). He asked what I would like done. I thought this was strange since I told him I just wanted a diagnosis. I said diagnosis, both would probably need a tune up, I wasn’t sure how to answer since I was dropping them off for a simple diagnosis. He told me they were looking 2.5 weeks out. I was getting worried that he did not understand that I simply wanted a diagnosis and nothing more at this time. I called March 23rd to verify that they do NOT OD ANY work just the diagnosis on both machines, which he reiterated back to me in a question form. He then told me that they were backed up 3 weeks. So that was the 3rd time I told him I wanted nothing more than a diagnosis on the machines.I called back on Wednesday April 15th, the mower issues had been diagnosed. The John Deere would cost $455, the Yard machine would cost $400. I explained that neither of the mowers were worth those values to fix them. The owner told me they had to do “necessary” work to get the mowers running for diagnosis. I asked the totals for the work done up to that point, john deere- $63, Yard machine- $49. At that point I was a bit confused since he quoted $21 for diagnosis, and I specifically asked him not to do any work on the machines other than diagnosis. I expected it would be more than $21 each, but not 3 times what was quoted. He explained that the mechanic put in OVER 1 hour into each of the machines and he was only charging me 30 minutes. The mechanic also drained the gas and “fixed” the wiring to get them started. Things started to seem off, since I knew both machines started when I dropped them off. When I saw the john deere nothing was different with the wiring, I know because I had wired it myself. I explained that the yard machine was my brothers and he would call him about it. I paid for the john deere and took it home that day.Continued Part 2

These are the most unfriendly, uncivilized, rude people one can find in a service store. My first interaction with them was fine. I did bring in my mower for service, they took my data and told me that it would be ready in about two to three weeks. They called me back right on time and I picked up my mower. So far so good. My mistake was not to ask them to start it there in front of me and check the oil and gas tanks for content. I drove home, started mowing and half way through the mower got over heated, stopped running and started smoking. That is when I checked the gas and oil tanks. Even though they charged me $4 for the new oil they never put it in.I had to go to a hardware store, buy oil and put it in myself. The mower would not re-start.The following morning the mower started but I called them anyway to see if there was any further damage. That is when the problems started. Joe received my mower and the first thing he did was to scold me because I had over filled the oil tank. False: the mower had been in a tilted position in the trunk of the car and that is why it showed to be over filled. The second thing he said to me, as if I were stupid, is that new oil is clear and that is why I didnt see it. I mentioned to him that somebody else had answered the phone and had agreed to take a look right away so he went in and looked for somebody else to come out and talk to me. After a second not very friendly conversation I left the mower in for the day.Joe called me back at the end of the day to tell me that the mower runs fine, that he had it running for about an hour and there was no smoke. When I picked it up I mentioned that if everything was alright and there was no smoke it was because I had put in the oil that they had forgotten. I also said that to err is human, but to acknowledge mistakes and errors takes some sophistication. It is not worth adding here what he said at the end, suffice it to say that I didnt even get the $4 back.If you can avoid them, avoid them. They are not worth your time and effort.

Bought a new Lawn Boy mower here. Also purchase parts here, as I do my own repairs. The dealings I have had with the owner have been fine. The other man that works there, who I’m guessing is the lead mechanic, should not be allowed to work the counter. As other reviewers have stated, he is as rude and unpleasant as they come. Every time! Consistently! As I was driving over there to get some snowblower parts earlier this winter, I was hoping that it would be the owner who waited on me. Well, It was my buddy again.....as surly as ever. Tried to make conversation with the guy and he literally grunted at me. If he was my employee, he would be gone. It’s a dilemma for me, as the shop is about 8 min. from my house.

Get your mower serviced elsewhere. Weve purchased two mowers from Brighton Mower and have occasionally had them serviced there over the past 20 years, but our experience has been that repairs are done poorly and they dont care about or understand customer service. Most recently, we took a walk-behind mower in for some work on its drive mechanism. The estimate they provided was high enough that it didnt make sense to get it repaired so I told them wed likely buy a new one and would pick the mower up. A while after picking it up (and paying $20 for the estimate they provided) I flipped it up to clean under the deck prior to mowing and found that they didnt replace the parts they had removed to assess the work needed; significant parts like a large plate that holds some of the drive components, a belt and a cover, at least. We took it back and asked them to make it whole. Imagine our surprise when, after several weeks, they called to say they had the parts and we went in only to be given our mower and a box full of parts. Apparently, we were expected to reassemble it. We said we felt the mower should be returned to us in the condition in which it was brought in. After several more weeks we were finally given the mower with the parts installed. Hard to believe, but the owner seemed to be miffed about having to return the mower in the same condition it was in when dropped off. Guess hes used to taking his car in for an estimate only to find it up on blocks with missing rotors and calipers because it needed brake work.Wed had some experiences prior to this where wed take the mower in for a spring tune-up only to have a belt break immediately upon starting it which indicated that they had not inspected the belts since its easy to see if theyre cracked and worn. One time after picking our mower up they called to see if theyd given us someone elses mower. (They hadnt.)And, as other reviewers have noted, your mower will sit out in the rain and snow the entire time its there. Its just been long-term bad service and bad attitude. We wont be buying our next mower there.Remove review

Shoddy service! Would not recommend to anyone, poor customer service and dont stand behind their work! Why would anyone use RED threadlocker on oil valve bolt?Update: Way to pat yourself on the back with your response and not address the problem. I would welcome the opportunity to see your or Toros manuals where they recommend using RED threadlocker on oil valve bolts. I did reach out and you were glad to charge me $25 each way for pickup and return of the riding mower. If you really wanted and cared about customer service you would have offered a way to remove the bolt...

After a short phone call I decided to take my Honda snowblower in for repairs. I had forgotten to empty or run out my gas the year before. My brother in law tried helping me but to no avail. He felt that the carburator may have been clogged due to the bad gas. For all I knew it was at least a good cleaning or a rebuild or a new carburator. With a major snowstorm fast approaching I was nervous that 3 or 4 days would not be enough time to get it done. Much to my surprise I received a call 2 days after dropping it off that it was repaired. We couldnt be more appreciative of the level of service we received. Their honesty was also amazing. Not sure of the issue it was repaired at a unbelievable price. They could have ripped me off at double or triple the price and I would have been non the wiser. My friends go there all the time because the have a lawn mowing business. I can only say thanks again for your great service and honesty. And for all of your negative reviewers I can and wonder if any of them are in business for themselves like I am. Maybe call the owners and explain your experience before leaving a negative review!!!!

Never had a problem until after I took my J.D. in for a tune-up in the fall after mowing season. In the Spring it wouldnt start after the $230 tune-up. After another $100 plus for a new fuel pump it again died the following week. Something with the wires under the seat. With in a few months it would not start again. This time they wanted $400 to take the engine out to do work. This LX150 does not even have 100hrs on it !So after putting almost $400 into it and wanting $400 more they offered to fix and sell it for me asking $800 . If they got that it would be the money I would have paid them in services over the past year ! I would actually get nothing out of it. Will NOT be back for service..

Just came here today to have them fix my front tire on my mower. Everything appeared ok and i drove it on my trailer. Soon as i got home i noticed the tire was flat again. They didnt fix my tire at all they put a tube inside it and its the wrong tube because the valve stem will not align with the hole in the rim. All they did was inflate the tube a little bit and under the pressure of being strapped down on the trailer the valve stem retracted all the way back into the rim because they just had it stretched to reach the hole. What a terrible job they did i cannot believe these scam artists got my money. Now i have to waste another day this time i will go to a more competent shop to have it done Right. Learn from my mistake stay away from these jokers!! The bald guy at the counter was rude as can be now im thinking this was intentional..

Zero stars!!!!! Made me pick 1 to post. They Literally STOLE our 5 month old mower!! We dropped off for one simple service, and after months of no return calls it is now spring and we went to pick up our mower. The owner George informed us he had tried calling us, but had zero record of calls on file and never did actually call. He then stated your mower was a piece of crap anyways. We had only bought the mower 5 months ago brand new, and I do not believe it is his judgement call to decide if our mowers crap and throw out to begin with. We then stated, that we think he sold our lawn mower. Georges reply was Wouldnt be the first time Ive wanted to sell someones mower. We were so confused and beside ourselves, we were unsure what to do next... My boyfriend then stated he will take him to small claims court, and the owner was trying to push someone elses mower out on the lawn on us. We actually were given a different very used older mower to replace ours by this man. We were so shocked we didnt really know what to do, so we took the so called replacement one. It is not as nice or new and makes zero sense. He did not feel bad, he was the rudest business owner i have EVER met. Please advise, this man George who stated he owns this business had no qualms about ripping us off, and was even laughing in our face!! They are scammers and out to rip people off!!! Do not leave your mower with them. There is a great chance you will never get it back and they are clearly getting away with this!!!!! And to Boot he tried charging us $20 for the work on the mower that no longer exists before hed give us a replacement!! He wanted very adimitley to make us pay for work on our stolen mower!!! Unbelievable.
