LDR is an authentic Diner/Drive-in classic adjacent to Ontario Beach Park... where good old fashioned Hots, Beef, Rochester style garbage plates, Homemade Onion Rings and family friendly atmosphere and prompt thoughtful service collide. They were so busy, they could have used an extra staff member just to sweep up inside and out. It was a great experience, well be back.TIPS:+ 2 sides are plenty for 2 adults..:)+ The meat sauce is excellent!+ Hahaha! Plan a long saunter on thepier to work off a lil dinner...
I come form Florida to visit, and that one of the first places I go! I love the hot-sauce! I hope they do an update on the inside a bit, its pretty dated, but the staff is efficient and the food quality is great. Its also very nice to put as many pickles on your late as you wish! I have gone there for 30 years.
Hot beef sandwich with fries n gravy. Tasted amazing. Great portion size. Meat was on the tough side, but it was actual meat not processed deli roast beef but very thin sliced steak.
This is the only place to get that perfect char broiled burger. Ive been going here since I was little. I also brought my kids when they were little. This is a tradition in my family and will continue to be for as long as they are around.
One of the best family restaurant experiences I have had. Really good food! I had wonderful lunch with my family and as usual, we had a great time. Their food is absolutely delicious and their portions are huge. I love the atmosphere ... very relaxed. The service was outstanding.
Pretty good food, atmosphere is lackluster, kitchen seems to be run my teenagers. Food was still fine. Definitely a diner atmosphere and great spot for cheap fast breakfast.
Never have a bad meal at this place and have been going on and off since 2013. (I had moved and am now back again for a travel assignment). Love the old school diner feel/“greasy spoon” feel of the place. Didn’t know they changed their hours so we got there in time before their closing at 3pm on Sunday. Portions were huge and my husband was pleased as this was his first time. Great view of the water and friendly atmosphere. Love the chili sauce they make and condiments you can put on your food. This place never disappoints and prices are decent for the portions.
This wonderful place has been in my life for 60 years. Went there when I was a kid with my family and return usually 3 time a month over the years.Great food nice people.
Staff is friendly and prompt. I like the counter service. You can watch your food being prepared right in front of you. The place is old but has character. The food is good and fresh. I really like the fried egg sandwiches. My coke was just right, not watery or syrupy. The french fries are always just right.Prices are very reasonable.This is one of those places to visit for a tasty bite and refreshing drink after visiting the beach or walking the pier.
A classic Rochester burger joint. A little slow taking our order, but it came in a fair amount of time. They actually cook your food... Not sitting under heat lamps for hours. Prices are fair. The history on the walls in articles and photos is amazing! A definite spot to go!
Love it here! My family has been coming here for years. One of the waitresses actually knows us now from going so often! The steak sandwich is the best on the menu!

Walked in and sat at a dirty table because thats all there was. Had to wipe our own table with napkins. Waited 15 min wondering if we had a server, as I saw 3 different servers walk past my table. An older gentleman walked in and he was served IMMEDIATELY!?!? So finally a server came to our table and said do you need to order? ????? Not even a hello. ( No, Susan were here for the a/c.). We placed our order, and 30 sec later she comes back and said they were out of roast beef. ????? So I said cancel everything and left. Wont be returning.

Absolutely wonderful, the food is great its handicap accessible and there is so much history in that building you can spend two hours reading the walls a definite must-see must stop must eat I will be back again service was quick and friendly and there was absolutely no weight although the parking lot was very full...they grind all their meat for their burgers theyre themselves and the steak sandwiches are absolutely fresh steaks 👌
My husband and I go every Thursday night. The wait staff are very friendly and great service. The food is very good. Have developed a lot of friends there. Highly recommend!!!!!
Order staff more interested in chatting with co worker than taking orders. 1 person running around polite doing everything then another 1 playing the waiting game to see how long I would stand there while she kept chatting with co worker and looking at me waiting. My patience wasnt there and I went across street to hot dog place that greeted me and took my order promptly. This was 2pm on a Thursday
I had a wonderful meal at the Char Pit today. This is a historic place well known in Monroe county. Since 1945 this eatery has been a destination for many. It has the appearance of a 1950s truck stop with a beautiful counter and restaurant. LDR are the initial of the children of the owners Linda, Donald and Rick.
Favorable Family Restaurant...Love this place!! the staff is super kind and professional. The food is stunning! unforgettable taste of Broiled Haddock, really amazing! And the servers are very nice......never wait.
What a wonderful place to eat with family, service was quick and friendly! We had fried chicken fingers with french fries which were fantastic. Awesome experience from start to end, perfect family style meals! and everything was served family style.
Great Place for family dinner, and as other said great environment! Chicken is Awesome!! We tried Chicken Mushroom Swiss and Grilled Chicken Breast....and both really must try for everyone..Price- I would say reasonable compared to other similar places in Rochester.Great service and Value for Money!
Terrible dirty place. Rude and wait staff ignores you. Finally after waiting 30 min and Being ignored. A customer who had nothing to do with the situation interfered and mocked for being disabled. Mgr let him stay and run wild . Disgusting service. Never again here. Dont waste your money and its not for disabled people.
Had the burger with dry bacon and mushrooms. I never tasted meat like this very odd flavour. The fries were good and the waitress nice.

Ive passed this place lots of times. This time my curiosity got the better of me. But the disappointment... the burgers were dry and not seasoned at all. The service is slow and the pricing didnt match the menu. First and last time going there. Spent $60 on 5 burgers and 3 fries.

I grew up in Rochester and have been eating at the ldr more years than I care to admit, went there again with my old high school friends when I was visiting in the area, and it didnt disappoint I had the beef barbecue which was always good and is the same recipe I remember. My friend had a steak sandwich and it had no fat on it at all the place was hopping as it always is, my only complaint was the air conditioning was broken. Ill definitely go again next time Im in town!
Growing up in Charlotte I ate here a lot. Fish fry used to be the best. Back and forth between the fish coatings, no more buttered hard roll, French fries are always changing. Just bring back the original. Stop messing with what once was the freaking best.

We had high hopes after reading other positive reviews. We were not impressed.Atmosphere was OK with old retro feeling.Burgers were underseasoned and a bit bland. Roll was good.Onion rings were overcooked with hard batter crust (maybe cornmeal based?) not like beer batter type.Milkshake was OK. Fairly thin which was the only way possible to drink it through the skinny straw.Overall, once is enough for the trio who visited.

I used to love this restaurant but every time I go there they decide to close early... (735pm they turned me away) or they are not open at all. close at 3pm Sunday thru Thursday!? At this rate I dont see this restaurant staying in business too much longer.
Best homemade onion rings west of the Genesee. Pies. Burgers. Hots. All with or without buns. Much more goodies. Friendly servers. Table or counter service.
Great diner with very friendly service and probably the biggest menu around of good food and some of the best milkshakes in town.Only downside is the cooks are pretty rigid about when you can and cannot get certain items.

Last time/ last chance for the Pit. Several times in the past year the food has been mediocre at best. Why is it our food cannot be served fresh as opposed to food that probably was left over from lunch. How expensive is Onion rings? Throw them out and cook fresh. Same with the Double cheeseburger. When the food is brought to your table in less than 5 minutes, question why. I regret not returning the food and why did I leave a tip at all. McDonalds here I come for fresh food.

Some people think you can get a good steak sandwich at Campis, or DiBellas. If you think that, Its painfully obvious you havent had a rib steak at the LDR char pit. With home cut and ground beef, cooked to order - you cant go wrong. I get mine Mooing, and its still as tender as Fillet Mignon. Meat Hot sauce is no extra charge, and is on the toppings buffet.

Very 80s dinerish. The burger was decent but a bit pricey for what it was. Id second think coming back. If you go in with low expectations you wont be dissapointed. Other than that think twice before going.

Took 1 bite of my burger and spit it out. God aweful. Tasted like burnt chemicals. I told them I wasnt paying for the burger and no one seemed surprised, nor did they try to make it right. Frozen patties and terrible hot sauce. This place was supposed to be a staple of charlotte. Avoid.
