I came into the shop last weekend with very little knowledge about skateboards. Andrew took the time to explain each component of the skateboard, brands, hardware, etc. He not only answered all of my questions, but he was kind and patient with my younger cousins who were very curious about everything in the shop. The board that Andrew built for us is great! Amazing service! Owner and staff were very welcoming! This was such a positive experience and we will definitely be coming back in the near future!!

I am old guy who hasnt skated in 40 years and knows nothing about modern boards. I wanted something to skate on paved trails for exercise and also a more playful board for my grandkids. They were amazingly patient and explaining what options were available and what would work for my body type. I settled on a pre-built for my cruiser and had them slap together a transition board for the kids who skate quite a bit. Super nice, never made a guy who knows nothing uncomfortable and walked out with some beauties. I wish I lived closer.

Super cool shop! Bought a sweet board for my daughter...they helped pick everything to customize it and they put the whole thing together for us! Really nice selection of everything. She is a beginner and they helped with everything. Everyone in the shop was super nice and knowledgeable. Had a kids pack of pads too! Clothing was super fun and cute quirky stuff everywhere!

The customer service here is outstanding. Some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Been going here with my husband for years and refuse to go anywhere else for his skating needs!! Love you guys!!!

Got in and out very quickly.Edit: Im taking off one star because when I went to go skate my board afterwards, and made a turn, one of the wheels came off. Im hoping to get this resolved soon, but I was surprised that the wheel was able to come off.

Saw this shop on the news one morning. Headed out all the way from Detroit to give in to my daughters request for a skateboard. The girls in the shop happily educated me on beginners skateboards. I am super happy with my purchase. They even gift wrapped my boards and offered to walk them a block to my car. I will be a repeat customer. First class service and so friendly.

Bought a longboard about two weeks ago and noticed it was a little warped after riding it, brought it in after some thought, and was was refunded entirely. Spent the money on a new board and got some extra store credit. Love the atmosphere of the store, all the employees are friendly, definitely will recommend to my friends if theyre interested in any and all things skate related. I plan to be a returning customer for years down the road.

I’ve purchased two boards here. The first one was my first ever skateboard so I could start learning how to skate.I was looking to start learning on a long board and the owners and staff were really supportive and understood that I was a newbie when It came to choosing a brand and the right hardware. Some of the staff are very experienced skaters and at no point did they make me feel embarrassed that I didn’t know much about what to get in terms of hardware.A year later, after putting hundreds of hours on my first board, doing research and finding out what I like in terms of a board and ride style I came back in May 2017 for my second board. At this point I knew a lot more about how different boards ride and the difference between the better and lesser hardware. I came in and decided to get a top mount Land Yacht. The staff was even more supportive even with all the knowledge I obtained they still showed me and explained to me things I did not know. I was looking for a board that rides better down hill at high speeds and they set me up with the best hardware that would suit that ride style.Thank you South Street. I’ll be back for my 3rd board.

We love this shop. The owners and staff are so helpful every time we go in there. Recently we went in to buy our son his first skateboard. They made the experience so much fun and interactive for his 1st skateboard build. They are very informative and let you know what each piece costs so you know what the final cost will be and also have different price options. We had fun and it made our son’s birthday special. We love that it family owned and operated.

Went there yesterday really late and had a fantastic experience. The two people working there were so kind and the nice man put together a beautiful board for me. The nice lady working the register found and pullwd all the shoes in my size, too, even though it was so late. I do not recommend going close to closing time unless you must because that is generally rude, but know that they are super cool and will totally help you out. Also, they have amazing wares in their shop! 10/10 will definitely return

The owners and employees of the South Street Skateshop is awesome!The employees showed me how to change my wheels and even talked about the difference between all the wheels.As a brand new skateboarder I felt very welcome within the shop and the popcorn offer was very kind and nice.If youve never been to South Street Skateshop in Michigan I highly recommend visiting right now! I went here with my cousin over the winter and loved it. So I went back today and got an awesome shirt. The owner was so nice and even showed me to the dressing room. They have the best prices too.

This place is awesome! So many cool items to choose from they have a huge selection for the size of the shop. Very personable staff was at the shop when we were in as well.

I didnt catch her name but the lady working was amazing. She helped me pick out the parts I needed for my board and put it together for me. Which was great because I have zero skateboard knowledge.

The ladies that own the store are very warm and friendly. On our last visit, they even popped us all fresh popcorn. The items for sale are a bit pricey, but its mostly due to their high quality.

I live about 30 miles away and was picking up skateboards for the deck art event. Went online and it said it opens at 10am but when I arrived at 10:15 and paid to park to my surprise on the door said did not open till 11. I sat in my cold car and waited for them to open. The staff is very friendly and polite.

1st skate shop I have visited. My 8 year old son wanted a board. They listened to him and got him a board that fit and could grow with him. Not sure the vibe in most skate shops, but I would say this place is mature. I did not feel out of place.

Great socks, cool pins, i like skating but not enough to invest in fancy gear so i cant really review their boards and trucks but they got some real cool boards in there. Burning incense, employees are always good for a conversation if you want one. a bit pricey but nothing outrageous.

Great owners, overall awesome experience. Didnt know anything about longboards walking in, but they helped me every step of the way in selecting what I needed. High quality for fair prices, would definitely recommend.
