Beautiful store and the nicest people you will find. I only come here to get my gear and to get answers to all questions. Easy 5 stars.
Great quality casual wear, love their products
Always helpful and friendly sales associates to assist me in shopping and tips for catching fish!
The staff were very competent and helpful. Orvis is VERY expensive. But they have excellent products that last. You get what you pay for.
The salesman Jim was awesome. Incredibly knowledgeable on everything. A little on the pricey side. But you get what you pay for.
Calm professional environment and friendly staff.
Had a good conversation about fly fishing with Bernies wife. She stopped by while I was there with my dog. Picked up a few flies and a quick-dry dog towel for the beastie. Thanks for your help, fellas; and for the lovely conversation, fellow friendly lady fly fisher!
I love the assortment and the quality of the clothes at Orvis. You are always welcomed and the assistants are very helpful and friendly. It is one of my very favorite shops.
Really nice and knowledgeable staff. Solid selection of fly fishing rods/reels/flies and ancillary supplies. Like most quality products... definitely not cheap. Staff has been extremely helpful.
I was actually a little reluctant about going into the store, I am brand new to fly fishing and thought they would be snooty or not receptive to lots of newbie questions. Nothing could be further from the truth. Everyone I’ve met is very friendly and helpful, lots of good advice about gear and techniques and what flies work well on local waters. And my 2 dogs are always welcome and look forward to the treats. Many thanks to Jim and his team! Tight lines!
Excellent customer service and excellent products
Ethan and Jim are great!!They helped us put together a last minute fishing trip by ordering youth waders and gear in stock! They made our trip possible and we made memories that will last a lifetime.Thank you Orvis. From a few years ago but holds true! The the fishing department is outstanding!Sales is great too but the crew in the back is the best. Thank you.
Always friendly and a wealth of knowledge on everything fly fishing.
High quality, great staff. Good selection. The one image if of the floor which is made of trucked in pebbles and epoxy. People come to just see that. Orvis also donates back to the environment and is a business partner with Trout Unlimited who meets there on the 3rd Wednesday of each month (open to join!).
Despite a negative review about Jim, he took his time with me buying my first fly rod. Took me out to the parking lot to try multiple rods of what felt good and pretty much give me a basic lesson on fly casting. The new fishing manager there is extremely knowledgeable and picked the right nymph to catch several brown trout that day. Been there at least 10 times and the service every time has been top notch
The crew is outstanding!! They are all super helpful and knowledgeable about fly fishing and out local waters. The group outings have always helped my technique, especially the spey classes.Love it!! Keep it up! Orvis is a great addition to Rochester and has brought a ton of people together.
Can always find something unique for that special person. (Or myself)
They were really helpful with my husbands Barbour jacket. They are always very friendly. And free fly fishing lessons!
An extremely well run purveyor of Orvis, Kuhl, and other quality brands. All the fly fishing essentials are also available. Limited inventory due to size of store, but a very friendly staff to help you order desired merchandise.
As an Orvis Endorsed guide with numerous clients from this area I continually hear nothing other than great feedback from anglers that visit this store. It is great to have a trusted location to send anglers to before visiting the Lake Placid area.
Always get great service and help in the fishing department. Free classes are great, too.
Typical with the Orvis tradition, great store, knowledgeable and never pushy staff, great products and the best guarantee in the business. Were so fortunate to have a quality store like this in Rochester.
I liked the service for all the fly fishing stuff, they gave me lots of advice on fly fishing and even offered to give me a free fly tying lesson
I was fishing the Genesee River in Rochester when I had a spey casting class from the Orvis Rochester store basically force me off the water. Now granted that I understand that there is a limited amount of water to do this type of casting and teaching on, but at the same time, the 2 clowns who were the instructors of this class not only limed their group of 7 students all within 30 feet of one another, but the fact that I am fishing a stretch of water IN FRONT OF THEM, they still had the audacity to have each of the students tie on an actual hook and then proceed to cast at me (60 feet in front of them). Now Combat fishing is pretty much the norm for the Lake Ontario Tributaries, but this is the first time I have had real hooks cast at the back of my head, my backpack, neck, etc. I was so upset at this I even called the Orvis Corporate office in Vermont to register the complaint. They of course did nothing. The jokes that run this store and their classes are nothing but dregs on the society of fly-fishing. There is no way I will ever visit this store again, purchase materials from Orvis or even recommend them for anything.
Spectacular. ating, cooking, talking--the mood is relaxed.
Great Orvis store with some of the nicest; helpful and knowable sales people within miles!!!
I have always felt right at home walking in this store. Being greeted everytime by the kind and knowledgeable staff has been so great. Signing up and taking the classes has improved my skills and im catching a lot more fish. Recently taking the afternoon spey clinic was great, and im definitely hooked. I hope to attend more spey classes in the future by the orvis team.
Very poor experience I would recommend avoiding this store. The store manager Jim Wallace insulted my intelligence after I asked a question regarding their warranty policy. I read online that Orvis has a 100% satisfaction guarantee. I asked about the details of this warranty and how conditional it was and this was his response. Well you have to use common sense. If it unravels after 3 days and one use than sure we will replace it. But if you try to return it after three months of use and thier all grimy then OBVIOUSLY not. Well actually Jim there are companies that stand by their products regardless of time and amount of use. Some companies like Patagonia, L.L Bean, Osprey, Darn Tough, ESEE, Outdoor Research, Mountain Hardware, MSR, Gregory, and many more. I have nothing against Orvis as a company Im sure their products are great but Jim, has really spoiled this store specifically for me.
Good stuff quite pricey.
Very helpful and informative.
Great outdoor gear
Shockingly not super knowledgeable on fly tying. Material, styles or basics.
Great service!
Its ok.
