Its was a great experience and was very helpful. They answered all of the questions I had. They also made sure I knew what was going on. They ensured I knew everything that needed to be fixed. From the moment I called in to get an estimate, Vanessas vibes was at 100... I had a serious problem with my SUVs transmission/universals - I thought, so I went to AAMCO on Mt. Read Blvd. in Rochester, NY. Shaun there was very pleasant and business-like. He called me later to say they had found the problem was with my rear suspension: a trailing arm had broken -- it was not at all what I thought it was. My regular auto mechanic could not find the problem, as serious as it was. I authorized the repair and it was done in a very timely manner. Shaun was very competent and gracious and the shop provided very good turn-around. I was certainly pleased with the whole transaction and Ill definitely recommend this AAMCO shop to my friends!

This is a top 10 transmission shop! They fixed my jeep when no one else could. I took it to be serviced 3 different places but, this were the only shop that could fix it. Yes,they Rock!!!

The service was amazing. Me and my husband took our car to a competitor before we came to AAMCO and they had our car for almost a month before diagnosing it. They said it would cost almost $4,000 to fix our transmission. We were stressing about how we were going to pay for it. We ended up paying $140 for a diagnostic and decided to look elsewhere. When we brought our car to AAMCO…they looked at the transmission and said nothing was wrong it was just a cable in the wrong spot. We was so relieved! These guys turned a $4,000 job into a $200.00 job! Thanks Vanessa for your excellent customer service and for following up with us afterwards…we’ll definitely be back soon!

Very professional! Made an appointment to get my car test driven. I was given alot of useful info about my car.... the mechanic then noticed i was low on transmission fluid & filled me up, also other minor fixings (my headlight was pushed in & he noticed it and popped it out) all Free of charge! Really appreciate this very reliable auto shop, will most definitely be back for future services!

I would highly recommend this AAMCO. It is the BEST mechanic shop in upstate NY. Why???The people!!! The owner/office manager is incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and generous. She knew we would be at the shop for several hours while they diagnosed and fixed our vehicle. She offered to drive us to the mall so we wouldn’t have to sit in their shop. She came back to pick us up afterwards.Best part...Dave, their highly trained and very skilled mechanic informed us that we didn’t need a transmission, but we did need some transmission oil. He explained, in detail, what he found and what he did to make it right. Very few mechanic shops will go to the lengths this shop has gone.Oh, and about a week later we brought our Cadillac to their shop thinking we had blown third gear and would need a new transmission (we haven’t had much luck these days). Again, Dave came through. He explained that it wasn’t our transmission, but rather the drive shaft and rear differential.Could they have taken advantage of us...sure they could have. We didn’t know what was wrong. But did they take advantage of us?? NO!! They used their expertise and experience to properly diagnose our vehicles and fixed only what was wrong.Forever appreciative!!! Thank you to the entire team at Mt. Read Rd AAMCO!!

Everyone at AAMCO were absolutely amazing and professional. My truck was misdiagnosed for a long time until I brought my vehicle here. They figured out the true issue and handled it immediately. Very Professional, caring and honest... I took my SUV here fearing the transmission was slipping, 1st off they don’t charge to diagnose the vehicle... It turned out that my transmission was ok it was a electrical problem but they went the extra mile and sent my vehicle to a professional Auto-shop to be properly diagnosed.. Ive been taking my vehicle to AAMCO for about a year and a half now. Theyre great at getting back to you, fast workers and fair pricing. A bunch of good people for sure. As long as I live close by, I will be going to them for all my car needs.

I have never had someone go so above and beyond their job for me. When in with a bad transmission. Then found out my all wheel drive system was also bad. Vanessa (best person ever!) went way above & beyond by calling my car warranty company MANY, many times until she found someone there who actually was helpful. (God knows how hard its to deal with warranty people). She also kept calling around for the best price for my all wheel drive system, and due to what i had to pay out of pocket they went and took off labor cost for what my warranty didnt covered. Wow! I will recommend this place over n over again. They really do care and are extremely professional. 100% satisfied customer.

Aamco is the ONLY mechanic who shows sympathy and put there all into their work. They treat you like family and work w you when they need to! I recommend aamco and EVERYONE I interact w that needs a place to take their car!!! If I could I would rate 10 stars. Ive been going here for year and plan on staying w them as my mechanic shop!! Had to get the clutch replaced in my 2012 Audi S4, went to the dealer they quoted me over $4k to do the job. Took it to AAMCO and they did the same job for less than half the price the dealer quoted and twice the warranty. Thanks guys!!

These guys installed a transmission in our 2006 Acura TL earlier this year as we were from out of town.The check engine light came back on after a while, I spoke to the guys in the Rochester location and they advised me to take it to my local AAMCO and they would get it sorted out. It turned out it was a simple fix that has nothing to do with the transmission even though the transmission was still under warranty. I picked up my car and did not have to pay a penny even though it was an sensor completely unrelated to the transmission. I am pleased to say this is my first experience with AAMCO and it certainly won’t be my last, they have proven to be a solid company that went above and beyond and paid for out of warranty expenses.Thank you guys!!!

I went in with potential brake issues, a rattle under the car, and I also needed an oil change. When I went to pick up my vehicle, I was informed that the brakes were absolutely fine and that the rattling was just something loose that was an easy fix. I could have easily walked into a huge bill but was shocked when mine was $50. Truly the best experience. I have been using these guys for years now and I have never met anybody more honest or trustworthy in the business. AAMCO in Rochester has earned my respect, and my business, for a lifetime. I took my Volvo to the east Rochester site. Turned out I needed a new transmission and the assured me they could do a great job over the dealer and save me money. Long and short, they botched it so bad I had to take it to dealer. Additionally when I went to pick it up they wouldn’t take a credit card or check only cash. Why? Because they are crooks and know if it’s on a card once you figure out the job they did was shoddy they don’t want you to contest it. Owner is terrible and runs these in Rochester and Buffalo. Stay away by all means. My experience cost me thousands to repair after they did the work. They should be shut down.

I brought in an aged car that I just bought and the guys were straight forward and looked everything over and came up with a few repairs that would make it safe and reliable. The final price was slightly cheaper than what they quoted me, they found one other small thing in the process that needed to be replaced. They did the repairs the same day as promised. Hard to find mechanics like this!

AAMCO was highly recommended by a coworker so I gave them a shot. The communication was top notch. They looked over the car while there and made some recommendations on some past due maintenance all which were spot on. I do tend to do the light maintenance myself, so I know that they were honest with me. They also informed me about the upcoming manufacturers recommended maintenance all of which was accurate and no extra. They gladly fixed what I brought it in for and were not pushy about the maintenance work. The work they did looks nice and clean and the price seemed very fair. Would definitely recommend them and use them again in the future.

I dont usually write reviews however wanted to give credit where credit is due. My car Transmission was leaking along with the engine Main seal. I called around to different shops and decided to go with AAMCO. They were completely different from the other shops, they explained everything in details for me, took me in the shop and show me the issue and what needs to get done. the experience from start to finish was very pleasant. i would highly recommend this shop over any other shops in the Rochester area. Keep up the good work.

My family and I were visiting friends in Rochester and was due to leave on the Monday arriving Friday night . Our car was slipping in and out of gears constantly on the final leg of our journey with no apparent lights to indicate what was happening .I called Shaun from Aamco late that afternoon and was delighted that he took the call and happily arranged for the vehicle to be transported to their workshop on West Commercial Street . Both Shaun and Rick worked over the weekend and had our car ready Sunday afternoon In order for us to make the 6 hour journey back to the city . Shaun even offered us a courtesy vehicle at no extra cost to use while the work was being completed .I would highly recommend Shaun and his team to anyone . I was a ford dealer for 10 years and a used car dealer for 15 years. I was fortunate enough to be directed to this facility for a noise in the drive line while I was in Rochester. I had the opportunity to meet the owner, manager and staff. The years of mechanical experience in this shop is awesome. A couple guys more than 25 years working on transmissions. The Manager Joe is awesome! He got my 1986 Monte Carlo SS right in and addressed the problems it had, very good guy and his team are amazing! Most shops wont work on 30 year old cars like this or have any clue on how to work on them, Joe knows classic cars.

Alex at AAMCO on Mt Read Blvd is absolutely amazing! My car was out of commission for a month because my transmission blew in it, we got the financing approved and within two days my car was running like brand new! With me calling everyday my car was in the shop just to check in on the financing and to check in with my car, never once did he get annoyed with me (and I’m sure I was annoying, lol). And with some left over money on my financing he changed my oil and changed my headlight (on 2011 Malibu- which is a total pain). I’m so beyond grateful! I will swear by this place and I will tell ANYONE AND EVERYONE I know who has car troubles to go to AAMCO on Mt Read Blvd!

I called around looking for some help with my 02 S10 as it just threw a check engine light for the transmission. Joe walked me through their process on dealing with issues and how they come up with solutions which put my mind at ease. After taking a look at my problems we came up with a game plan that worked for me and my budget. Just one and a half day after my initialPhone call my truck was done! The turn around time and professionalism was on point and Im happy to have worked with the crew at Aamco, I would recommend them to anyone!

Definitely will come again, though I hope I wont need too of course! Dealership kept my daughter waiting 2 months saying theyll fix problem...The guys at Aamco did it $350 cheaper and fixed it the same day. They were flexible with drop-off and pick-up times too!

I decided to take me car to this shop after my CV Axle on my 04 Acura TL went. I can honestly say out of all the mechanic shops in Rochester, AAMCO has given me the upmost customer service I have ever received. The Mount Read shop Manager Alex was so professional and greeted me with the most respect. He wasn’t like other shops managers where they just want you to pay and get out. He shown that he cares about the customers that come in and treats the shop like it is his own. I will continue to use this shop for my mechanic needs, highly recommend.

Worst service ever. Joe and his team constantly misdiagnose problems to suck money out of you. Also they like to tell you the transmission has to relearn itself but dont get your hopes up. It wont. Dont waste your money here.

Why cant all mechanic shops be like this one!! Joseph at the counter was able to get my car in on a busy day to let me know what was wrong with it. Once they diagnosed the issue, they were able to get my car fixed by the end of the day. Joseph also pointed out where the big dealership around the corner messed up my car and could of caused extreme damage. I owe him more than the bill was worth. You dont get service like this anymore. Seems like all they want is your money.

My experience at Aamco was top notch, the manager (Joe) was great. He seemed as if he genuinely cared about my transmission issues and me. Something that seems kind of rare in this day and age, especially in car repair. He offered to tow my vehicle in since it wasnt shifting all that well, saying that if there is a transmission problem we didnt want to make it any worse trying to drive it in. After asking how much the tow charge was he said, If they did end up having to rebuild or replace the transmission that he would pay for the tow. I did wind up needing transmission work and when Joe called he told me exactly what went wrong and gave me options on different ways we could go about fixing my car, used, rebuild and remanufactured. I had them rebuild my transmission and had my car back in 4 days which wasnt too bad. I even got to see the parts that failed when I went to pick up my car. Thanks Joe and crew, you guys are great!

Be cautious! These guys are scammers. They replaced my Tranny and called me to replace other stuff. Like one of my driveshaft u-joints. They only did the one. I asked them why not both? He said it was fine. 2 months later I blow the lower u-joint. The tech that repaired my driveshaft told me that none of the u joints look like they were replaced.I had to get another shaft. But I called Aamco and talked to them about it. I said I was gonna bring in the shaft. His answer:Well how do I know that the shaft came out of your truck?Seriously? Guess what? You will never see me again in that place. I spent $2500 there and thats the last $2500 Ill ever spend there.Complete crooks. Inspect the work they do!!!! BEFORE YOU TAKE YOUR VEHICLE!!!!!

Brought my 04 F-250 SuperDuty to the AAMCO on Mt. Read for an extremely loud noise coming from my transmission when the truck shifts certain gears. (I generally do all my own work on my vehicle, but not all that knowledgeable when it comes to the transmission/drivetrain)These guys were honest and to the point. Come to find out there was no issue with the transmission as the u-joints and driveshaft had went bad. After replacing my u-joints and having my driveshaft re-balanced; the truck drives great again and the work they did looks mint.If youre looking for a good reputable mechanic that actually charges the job fairly, these guys are it. They know what theyre doing.

I was in Rochester NY visiting my relatives and my transmission on my Honda Accord went out. I met the new owner and really liked him. He was helpfull and recomended a rebuild with the Lifetime Nationwide Warranty since I was from Elpaso, Texas. The car shifts like new. Very good experience at AAmco at Rochester NY.

Sept 20 2012 i took my 4l80e trans to aamco in pieces for rebuild . (long story) rebuilt trans to std specs. took six weeks, $3500 and worked for three weeks . took it back and three weeks later thy said nothing was wrong with it .?. they replaced the trans shift module in glove box without giving quote (this is a habit for them. thy also ask for your ss# for approval of bill) $500 changing this part did nothing for the truck and charged me anyway. then thy said i need to get my dash cluster rebuilt for another $750 . i refused and picked up the truck and found exhaust manifold broken, exhaust leaking, and rear main brake line broken, (repairs were over$1500 some place else ) and engine now has a ticking noise and leaks trans fluid, not fixed. i feel ive been wronged to the 10th degree. i dont recommend aamco for anything .ive invested over $5500 in this matter.the 94 truck isnt worth that much and cant afford to get ride of it.so all in all, it took way to long, cost way to much and still doesnt work ...thanks jeff (ps) A NEW 4l80e trans costs 2750 to your door by reputable manufacture ...do some homework if you can it might be helpful. .
