Love this store. Its close to me and they have a lot of stuff. Like more than your average convenience store AND they let me bring in my doggo so she doesnt have to stay alone in the car so I dig it I go in all the time
This is a dying breed... But not dead! This is an actual mom&pop grocery store in the heart of Old Southwest in Roanoke. Its not a convenience store, its a real grocery.Yes, you can get cigs and candy bars, but also bread, milk, frozen food, canned food, fresh veggies, paper products, dog and cat food, (and treats) much of it local. And, their deli serves up Boars Head brand meats and cheeses as well as hot dogs and bbq and other lunch items. See Vivian, shes in charge of that! She makes a mean chili dog!Parking is on street, but Ive never had a problem being within 100 of the store. Dog dish outside near the ice. Pet friendly. Bring your pup or kitty inside! (I dont know their policy on pet snakes, rodents or horses)Theres a scooter rental spot out front. (were talking about the puke green rental foot scooters here, like motorised skateboards with handles)Small but well stocked. Staff is super friendly. Prices are competitive. If you live in the Noke this is like the Texas Tavern of groceries. Give it a try!
I love the people that work there and they always get you whatever you need! always give my dog buddah treats and treat us like family
Grabbed the chicken salad sandwich and a drink. In and out really quickly, and prices are reasonable. The chicken salad was delicious
Been going there since I was a kid the employees especially Thomas are awsome
Basic corner store. Locally owned. For your basic in beer, cigarette and lottery tickets.
The best oldschool little market around... Makes me feel like a kid again...Tomorrow Tomorrow, Sunnyside Market tomorrow Its only a block away
Great place. Deli food and sandwich specials are awesome. Nice sized sandwiches for the price. Viv, Steve and Thomas are the best! Shop there frequently!
Great service awesome owner they give out dog treats my dog loves going here and on of few American stores thats left thank you for your service 💜💜
This little Corner Grocery has become my go-to for anything I ever need. Not to mention, the staff is always very friendly, ready to help, and always fun to talk to. Would recommend to anybody.
Remind me of my old school childhood neighborhood store Steve is a good guy
This little store is amazing!! Great stop for locals and most definitely for people passing through town! It quaint with hints of OLD SOUTHWEST. It is not only a convience store but you are able to get most all your shopping needs done locally! No need for a special trip to large superstores. Old fashioned candies (great for Christmas) or anytime and deli meats cheeses and desserts from Boars Head cut fresh for you! The staff is fast and friendly and if they dont have what you are looking for the owner will go out of his way to make sure you get it! SHOP LOCAL! 🙂🙂
Love the place! Been going there for over 40 years. Great service and the best hotdogs in town.
I live near this store. Its the friendliest neighborhood market i think ive frequented in a long time. They always have a different variety of things each week on the shelves that always change from week to week. I make a point to go in there at least once a week just to see what they have different on the walls and shelves. Their prices are very reasonable. They carry just about everything you may need from groceries to household items, cleaning supplies, tools, self care, oddball things such as paint products, auto needs, i mean literally everything! It isnt a big store and it isnt a huge stock of everything, but they definitely have a modest amount of about everything you could possibly be looking for and need, but not expect to find without having to drive out of the way to get. Its not like a convenience store at all, but more like a small local marketplace. Their prices are very modest in comparison to the high convenience store prices. The employees are very friendly and remind you of shopping with a neighbor and not a stranger. The store is well kept & clean. The inventory is new, not outdated. The environment is warm, friendly and all smiles.
Wonderful Store! They remind me of the local stores I grew up with in St. Louis and Chicago as a kid. You may pay a little more but its the small businesses that make America Great! Thank you Steve and all your employees for being there during this troubled time. You all are wonderful.
It is very nice little market in hot dogs are good but when you order two separate orders on your hot dogs make sure to check it out because the person who puts it in the bag is not bright enough to separate the orders correctly
A little pricey, but super convenient location. The staff is always very nice as well.
Always loved this store, Perfect location for a neighborhood especially when youre walking and nice people. EDIT: Dont forget to try their homemade food in the deli area, those sandwiches are GREAT!!
Hometown country feel. Delicious macaroni salad 😋. Friendly service. Affordable and efficient!
So lucky to have a neighborhood market where the folks are friendly and the place is clean. They are eager to please and willing to stock requested items. I love being able to support local, small businesses and they make it an easy choice. Thumbs up!
Convenient, well stocked and very nice staff.
Nice bodega with a large selection of shelf stable products, a small variety of fresh produce, and a small deli counter. Good selection of beer and wine. Local VA cheeses in the fridge!
An Old Southwest treasure with just about anything you need...prepared food available as well. 💜
I love going into this old type neighborhood convenience store. Takes me back to the 50s. A diversity of customers who are friendly to each other. Makes me feel good about the world for a short time, if you get my drift.
Nicest store in town.
Great hometown corner market store. Used to shop there all the time when i lived down the street years ago, was in the neighborhood and decided to stop in and the lady behind the register actually remembered me.
This place is SO quirky and cute. Prices are higher than grocery stores - typical for this kind of market. Some fun hard-to-find candies, sodas, and beers. I wish they had a little better hot coffee set up, but other than that I was completely charmed.
Wasnt the first time I have been to the establishment. Was surprised to see that they carried everything that I needed. They had tomato, lettuce, cucumber. Went to the other corner stores first, they did not carry fresh produce.
I went into this locally historic little market today just to check it out. Its in the old SW Roanoke neighborhood. I was told by the shoppe keeper that it opened in 1929. My grandparents lived just a few blocks from here when they were first married. I thought it was neat to still be able to shop in a market that my grandparents probably shopped in so many years ago. Charming little market with squeaky floors. One of the oldest, if not the oldest in Roanoke.
Ive only lived in old Southwest six years but this place is great. Often shop there for cigarettes or wine even though it costs a little more. When we get a big snow and you cant drive, you can walk up to Sunnyside and somehow they are open. Velda and Virginia are two hardworking ladies always there to help you. I was sad when Bill passed and the store might have closed permanently. Thank goodness his mother and wife were so strong they found the strength to re open. Ill shop there forever. They only close Sunday. God bless them
Lovely home baked goods at the check out counter.
Great little neighborhood store that has a bit of everything for everyone. Staff are always smiling and you can tell they enjoy their job and their store.
Have been going here for years. Friendly local market that has a little of everything. From grocery, frozen foods, pet foods, canned foods, some fresh meats, made sandwiches, car products, gadgets, beer wine and more.
A good small grocery store in old southwest neighborhood in Roanoke. My emergency grocer.
Love this store super nice people! Stop there everytime my dog and i walk!
Its like stepping back in time
Ive been shopping at Sunnyside for over 20 years. It is truly a landmark in Old Southwest. The new owners are doing a great job of carrying on the friendly, community-oriented vibe this store is famous for.
Just your friendly neighborhood store.the twist is these guys will get basically anything for you.ive seen items in this store that i swore havent came out yet.staff is extra friendly and knows everyone .prices are well below the prices of your average neighborhood store.
Friendly store has most needs in stock

Good all around neighborhood market. Steve really does a great job constantly making improvements.
New friendly owners who are making changes for the better and adding more items daily. A great locally owned business and a great place to shop. Beer, cigs and lottery sold as well... the essentials.
LOVE THERE hot dogs but process hav really gone up
Family owned and always friendly. Feels like a visit with my cousins everytime I go there. Love these ladies!
A corner store in the city that looks and is stocked much like an olde small country roadside byway establishment of past days! Owner operated, open late even (usually for 18 hours).
Fantastic little neighborhood market. The prices and selection here are shockingly great for such a small convenient location.
This place has EVERYTHING you could imagine... The best corner store around ROA. The owner and the two women employees are friendly and exceptionally helpful.I love this place!

Owners are nice, but the products that used to be sold are no longer there. That means I have no use to shop there.

History baby.... No 40 oz malt liquor allowed in this neighborhood and its cleaned it up considerably compared to neighborhood in 80s and 90s.
Nice people here and not to expensive
Excellent food
Cashier was nice and store was quiet
Employees like to close early and refuse service. Arrived at 9:55 WITH CASH, and employee just mouths sorry. Live in community and won’t be back. Not first time i’ve come to it being closed early/locked “during business “
Quaint little corner store

Nice little store to get what you cant make it to the grocery stores but the prices do leave more to be desired, a bit pricey on most items there
