My friends and I had such high expectations when we first walked in. The bakery itself Is very beautiful and nice to look at. The cupcakes looked super cute and unique. However after buying a couple different flavors we realized that it tasted exactly like store bought cupcakes. Each frosting tasted exactly the same and nothing special about the cake itself. The cupcakes were overly sweet. We couldn’t finish it. I would not recommend.

Never place custom orders with this place. Me and my wife had placed galaxy themed cup cake orders from them, for my daughters 10th birthday, based on a previous work that they had done. When we went to pick them up, the icing was BLACK and literally no other shades were visible. Also the icing material was so cheap that the color black stain would not even come off my hands and mouth when I tried the cake.The employees told us that the colors mix got wrong, well if it got wrong then they should have at least contacted us and we could have may be asked for different icing when there was time. But no one called from them. I also emailed their store email about this issue and still no response after 3 weeks.This place is already over priced and for the price I paid for these custom cakes it was outrageously bad. Never I am ordering anything from this place.

I was so excited about trying these cupcakes. When it comes to presentation; this bakery is spot on from the perfectly piped frosting to the adorable to-go cupcake boxes.I had to give a 2 star review because of the cupcake itself. I love moist cupcakes.. But these were not moist, they were under baked. It was so bad that the middle was still gooey. I had to throw mine away. What a shame for the price I paid for it. The frosting was also way too sweet for me but that is just personal preference. I usually just scoop most of it off but it was still too sweet.Ill come back and give it another try another day.

They have made the cupcakes so tiny! Augh! I absolutely loved this place and would drive out of my way just to go get some gluten free cupcakes! I ordered cupcakes from here for a party and my husband picked up a couple cupcakes from the smallcakes by our house. I was shocked to find the tiny cupcakes in my box. Ridiculous! I had both of the cupcakes next to each other and I couldn’t believe they were both from a smallcakes(two locations). I called and complained and the owner did make it right and had me pick up some new cupcakes(that were larger) I do appreciate that. I was over by the store and decided to stop in again and got mad all over again! They are called Smallcakes not Tiny Cupcakes although that name fits them better now...

This Cupcake place was recommended by our niece. We needed to get cupcakes for a baby shower and they were happy yo accommodate. Despite not giving them 24 hours notice, the staff still made things work for us. The cupcakes were moist with a sweet frosting. I hate cupcakes that seem stale or dry. These were not the case. Will come back to try other flavors!

If Im in this area I will always stop and get a cupcake and a cookie. They are the best.

Omg! These cupcakes were so gooood!They stayed moist for 5 days. (I’m not sure if they stay moist over 5 days because I ate them all before I could find out) lol.I am so mad I’ve been going to sprinkles all this time. NEVER AGAIN!But the cupcakes were great! I hope to receive the same results with the next batch I purchase.

This is my favorite small cakes in Houston. Great shop, well lit and always a great selection. This chain can be hit or miss, some of the locations are dark and cramped, but not this location. It is definitely a hit.

Place too expensive for the taste and quality of cup cake

If I could leave a review without giving any stars I would have but I had to share this awful experience. Poor customer service by Sharla, she provided a quote and stated that they could do all these things such as pink icing at no extra charge. She said she could take an order and have it done the same day. She would never return emails or phone calls. Within days the price quoted changed 3 times, suddenly the pink icing became a customized order. The vanilla cupcakes were hard and obviously burnt, looked nothing like what you see in the store or the ones we taste tested when we made the decision to use SmallCakes Richmond TX. They were clearly thrown together and rushed. Yes, Sharla did offer to refund our money however she knew this was not an option for this important day. The birthday party going on in the store seemed more important to her than anything else and the store surely was not properly staffed to free Sharla to explain the awful job she did on the order that we were required to pay for in advance. Will never recommend much less go back!I selected slow service because there was no option to fit how horrible this all turned out!

For 2 years Ive passed by but havent stopped until today when we needed a pick me up after a doctors visit. So good! The frosting and moist cake were amazing! Best pick me up today.

The last time we purchased 3 of these expensive cupcakes, they were dry and not as nice as they used to be. Maybe we got an old batch or something. I dont know... awfully expensive to risk in the future. Ill just go buy a smallish cake at HEB next time.

Small cakes used to have the best cupcakes with a wide variety of flavors always in stock, however the last couple times my wife and I have visisted the store has been empty with only one or two flavors to choose from. Also, the cupcakes are the same...if not a little bit more expensive and they are TINY. Almost $4 for something half the size of a home baked cupcake is ridiculous.

First let me say the young women behind the counter was excellent. She was very friendly and helpful. She took the time to explain what each cupcake was. When I asked what she would recommend. She said you cant go wrong with any of the cupcakes, then pointed out her favorites. I came in for a few cupcakes and walk out with eight based on her suggestions......Now for the cupcakes, let me tell you what. Each and everyone was perfectly moist with excellent flavor. I drive all over houston looking for great cupcakes. After eating these we dont have to look anymore. Its was worth the drive and we will be back.

I have gone to this location once a month or so since they opened and never had a negative experience. Their cupcakes and treats are great and they are so nice.I go in with my two kids (3 and 1) and they are always so understanding if they are being loud and excited, or if they make a mess. Its such a treat for my kids.Love love love

Just left the store after a very tasty cupcake..but. other little things reduced this possibly 4/5 rating...was asked if it was for her or to go and when replied here was handed a large cupcake on a cocktail napkin times 3...my guests had to handle there own since I dont have 3 hands ..even at McDonalds you get a tray or small plate..and also no napkin dispenser any table. And then 9.75 for 2 bottles of water and a coke.!!!!! Why they may have perfected cupcakes...the whole package of service AND quality is expected for me to be a consistent patron.

The cupcakes are delicious. Red Velvet and Strawberries & Cream are my favorites. I have had five cupcakes in the last two weeks which is not very good for my waistline. The staff is exceptionally nice. I give it Five Stars *****

First time visiting Smallcakes Richmond! I actually met the new owners, and they are super nice. The place is super cute and a very happy place. Very super friendly staff, and the cupcakes are fabulous! Fresh and huge, well worth the price. They even have KETO cupcakes and treats! I have already recommended this clean establishment to all my friends and family!

We ordered cupcakes from here for the first time in July and they were awesome. Super moist and all the flavors we ordered were a big hit with the staff. It was so good we have ordered some for another birthday celebration for tomorrow!

Great cupcakes, Id personally say its better than Crave and heres why:1) better creme topping. Its not too sweet and not hard after being stored in the fridge2) the cake is again just the right amount of sweet thats not I need to brush my teeth and go in for a Dental cleaning bc Ive just consumed my weight in sugar good.3) flavors and variety in store are unique and fresh

Amazing i wish i could rate higher this place is like the heaven of cupcakes. it had gluten free options and they are all very good. Some times i wish i could live in the cupcake heaver aka small cakes

Very disappointing. The cupcakes have gotten smaller and the prices higher. Maybe they have changed owners but even the flavor and moistness of the cake has decreased. They are no different than the cupcakes you get from HEB or Kroger now. I know the cupcake craze is over with but at least go out with a bang...and give me a bang for my buck!

Used to love this place. Lots of flavors, big cupcakes, and helpful staff. About a year ago, they shrank their cupcakes substantially. They are way overpriced now at $3.75. They don’t change up the flavors as much as they used to, and often run out completely 3-4 hours before they close. This has happened several times over the past 3-4 months. Obviously I’m not unique in this. I get that their rent is expensive, but this isn’t good business practice.

Cupcakes are delicious! My kids and I tried three different ones and loved them all! We will be back to try many more, especially strawberry and wedding cake!

My daughter works at another branch, so I am very familiar with this brand. This location puts a very minimal amount of icing on their cupcakes. At the one in Cypress and in Rosenberg, the icing is about 4X as much on the cupcakes. When u pay the same, u should get the same.

When this first opened up this was our favorite store and go to place. Then they started changing the prices and would charge us for an extra box when it was a gift for teachers. We couldn’t put them all in one box. The cupcakes are really good

Please disregard the bad reviews I’ve been ordering cupcakes from the baker since they opened this location. I drive over an hour away and will continue as long as the same baker remains. Cupcakes here are delicious! I’ve been to other small cakes locations but they are nothing compared to the quality of this location.

First time visiting and I thought the cupcakes were great. My only concern was that the lady that handled our food used her fingers to package our cookies without gloves while handling money in between customers.

The Peanut butter cup is one of my favorites! Good stuff! Ill try red velvet next time around.

This was a 5 star place a few months ago. Now the cupcakes are smaller, more expensive and not as good quality. There are other cupcake bakeries in the area, but I used to go out of my way to go to SmallCakes, but now it is not worth it when there are better cupcake places closer to me with a much better price.

Had a Lemon Drop and it was VERY good. BUT the cupcakes are really Smallcakes. Theyre so freaking small for $3.75!!!! That was a huge disappointment. 3 bites and it was gone!!! Ill stick with Crave, GiGis, or someone else.

No consistancy! When you spend this much for a cupcake you expect it to be like the one you bought last time. Bought a lemon cupcake today. Told the clerk it didnt look the same as before. She said, oh we have a new baker. Well the new baker sucks. Not one thing about this cupcake tasted like lemon except for the artifical yellow drop of goop on top. Like they have at grocery store bakeries. Before the cake was super moist and icing cream cheese with lemon zest. Now not moist and icing tasted artifical and no lemon flavor at all! No lemon zest in sight. Done with this store!

This place is absolutely wonderful but I do have a complaint.I work at a nearby business and we are constantly bombarded by Smallcakes customers asking for forks. Why dont you supply your customers with plastic ware? For as much as pay for a cupcake we should at least get a fork if requested

Wont deny that the cakes are delecious, I absolutely adore the pupcakes. However, I wouldnt count on them being able to make you a cake without having to jump through a million hoops to place the order. In 2016 it was easy, walk into the store or place the order online but last year I tried to place an order from Hawaii to pick up at this location later in the month (i figured the earlier in the month the better) and they wouldnt allow me to place the order over the phone. They told me to email them, I did and waited about a week until I got fed up with waiting for a response. So I called and asked why they havnt replied, said it was the wrong email. Which confused me because there was only ONE email on the site. I finally got the CORRECT email, tried to place my order again and they tried to work with my time zone change. We decide on a cake flavor and size and I never heard from them again. I get to the location about a week later after trying for 2 weeks to place an order and I assumed the cake would be ready for pick up on the day I specified they said I could not be reached. Only issue is I left them several forms of contact and I recieved none, no missed calls, no voicemail no e-mail. The poor girl called the manager at the store and the manager offered me nothing to make up for their horrible customers service. I tried so hard to get my son a cake only for it to have been ruined by issues on their part and very little to apologize for.

Every day they have new flavors. Also, knowing that the cupcakes they have out were made that day is huge.

After several weeks of disorganization (losing orders and terrible communication) on their part and rude service, they cancelled a 5 year olds birthday cake today. His party is TOMORROW. They charge their customers tax, which according to the comptroller is not legal in Texas. When this was brought to their attention they cancelled his cake claiming that the individual was not comfortable paying for the cake. Ironically, they allowed the customer to pay for a cake just yesterday when this issue was brought to their attention. They are vindictively refusing to make a childs birthday cake and that is just awful.

Pricey, poor service and not that great tasting. Ordered a cake for our son and the manager canceled the order a day before his birthday. I would recommend you try Nothng Bundt Cakes in La Centera.
