Very friendly people. Heard that Marvel was doing a collaboration and releasing a new Ultraman comic, so wanted to check it not. Not the biggest place and limited back copies, but its a good little place. I have talked with them before at some of the Galaxy-Cons that have come to Richmond. Very bright place, decent supply of new released comics. Looks like they might do some card games or D&D role playing here. My son grabbed a new comic and my daughter picked a graphic novel out. Good place maybe to get a subscription service. When I was walking out few guys walked in and they seemed to know who they were and said they would grab there comics. Great little local place, worth checking them out and support a small local biz!

When I go out of town I enjoy checking out the comic stores. I went to this store today for the first time. It was one of my better comic book experiences ever. Mainly because the people who were working there were super nice. Very friendly and had a passion for what they were doing. It was a great experience and thank you Alpha for your kindness and letting me enjoy your store.

The staff is incredibly helpful and patient. They take the time to make valid recommendations based on the customers level. They are quick to order special interests. They have a great selection of tabletops and accessories Truly, they are kind and wonderful people.

If you remember there was a comic book store here before which was great in that classic 80s style comic book den. The new owners have not only spruced it up but have created news storage patterns and expanded the collection to house everything you could possibly need and still own that incredible degree of sophistication and knowledge that will help you find exactly what youre looking for. Its an amazing place with great service anytime you go.

This store was very nice! The people that work here are very friendly and informative of their selection. They had quite a diverse selection for such a small space, from the mainstream to the very obscure. It was also quite well organized as each section of the shelf was dedicated to a specific character, series, or publisher.Even though this store is a comic shop first and foremost, they have a healthy selection of figurines, board games, and card games that I believe you can even settle down and play inside if you want (I’m not quite sure of that since I don’t play those kinds of games, but from what I’ve heard that seems to be the case). They also have a selection of art supplies and guide books to creating and writing comics! They even have a little local artist section too! So any aspiring comic creators out there should definitely come check it out.Overall, this store is very welcoming to newcomers and fans alike! Definitely worth visiting again and again!

Stopped in for some Magic: The Gathering cards. Nice selection of organized binders and under-the-glass showpieces. The staff was super friendly and prices were good. Even pulled a pair of mythic rare Griefs from a pack of MH2. If youre having trouble finding the place: its behind the iHop. Highly recommend stopping in.

They were so nice! We were checking out a bunch of comic and book stores in Richmond and they are definitely one wed love to come back to. Their comic selection is huge and very well organized. And the employees are very knowledgeable, they seem to care about their regulars and their new customers.

My son was in heaven here and the gentleman and his daughter was so knowledgeable, helpful and pleasant.

Love this comic book store. It has great customer service and I find all my comics here. They are so nice to the kids that come in to get pokemon cards.

The staff is great and have been going there for years. They are happy to talk shop with you and discuss characters or series that you like. They have a good selection and even have books for the younger readers so my daughter can have something.

Friendly, clean, organized, and bright environment! Everyone who works here is great, and goes out of their way to help you if you need a recommendation for a comic, or would like to learn to play one of the games they sell. This store also hosts special events such as mommy and me days (with the mall), and just this past month they did a magical girl month with local artists! They showcase books, toys and statues to tie in with each new movie that is coming out. Great selection of graphic novels, cards, new and back issues. Definitely check out this store!

Having given this store a chance after its transition from Nostalgia Plus, it this new this, sadly... I miss Marvin. Comics, some collectibles, back issues... Not interested in card games in any way... I hope Marvin is doing well though..

A small shop, but they have a lot of neat stuff. Staff is really friendly. When the guy who rang me up saw what I was buying, he went ahead and pulled the next few issues for me and held them behind the front desk so I can come back and get them when Im ready -- a really nice gesture that didnt need to be done! A friend of mine also noticed something they didnt have, and they reserved a copy for him from their next shipment. They also had a lot of flyers for local comic-related events out-- nice to see community involvement. Will definitely shop again!

Does this store actually open? I came by here during business hours. People were inside moving around. I was at the door but the door was locked from the outside. They saw me moving around their door this was like the middle of the day. I tried calling twice while outside.. no one ever answered the door or phone. Just a weird place not wasting gas anymore I’ll just shop online.Later, I also asked a few people abojt this place and they had the same experience so yah, good luck 🤷🏽‍♂️

Alpha Comics is always super quick to help me out with whatever I’m looking for. The owners Alex and Bri have clearly put a lot of effort into hiring and organizing the space to be as welcoming as possible. I’ve had multiple lengthy conversations with most of the staff about various facets of nerd culture, which are always a delight.TL;DR Awesome place, awesome people, surprisingly good selection given the limitations of the space.

Great selection of comics and games whether youre into sci-fi, horror, fantasy, or any other genre. Great staff that is friendly and will help you out with anything youre not sure with. The staff will talk to you about anything theyre knowledgeable on. Theres also lots of tabletop gaming and other things the staff will be happy to help you with, come in and check this place out. If the staff here doesnt have what youre looking for they will point you to someone who does.

Small but very organized comic shop. Not a lot of back issues but what they do have is easy to find and since they dont get very shopped, I find items here that are not at my usual spot.

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. There really is something for everyone in this comic shop. From books to banks to figures to trading cards and accessories, this is a great stop. Theyve even offered to order things for me.

Absolutely lovely little comic book shop. Store owners were immensely helpful and personally helped my girlfriend obtain several cards for her deck. The store owner was amazingly knowledgable on every caveat of the shop she runs, from comics to all the major card games. She even got into a deep lore discussion about Magic the Gathering with my SO. 100% worth a visit and Ill be going again next time Im in Richmond.

Even when the store is crowded, they always make you feel like you are the only customer. The shop is well organized for cards and comics. And if you do have trouble finding something, they will point you in the right direction. As an added bonus, they are extremely nice to children coming in looking for their first comic or to build their first deck.

Comic shops are just specialized Libraries or Museums, you should feel comfortable and relaxed. Able to look around and feel your way around with some helpful guidance. This place does that.

Ive been nervous about going into comic stores for a while, after hearing some horror stories about newbies trying to dive in. After a visit here, all those worries are entirely gone. The owners are incredible, both in being friendly and in being incredibly knowledgeable about the store. I had a lovely conversation with the woman working there, and felt incredibly welcomed. Not only did I find what I had been looking for, I picked up a few other things as well on recommendation, and Ive loved it! If i could give more stars, I absolutely would.

Smaller comic shop. Poor selection of newer comics. Not quite sure how this place makes money. On one visit the owner refused to offer a plastic bag to carry my purchase although it was raining and I purchased 7 comics. Older items way over priced. Staff is unapproachable they are too worried about watching TV than assisting customers. I expect the typical comic book geek or nerd troll but these guys are bad. Save your money and time. If its raining bring your own bag. Good location Poorly managed.

I love the new owners. Ive been twice within the past month and both girls working were extremely helpful and I really enjoyed talking with them. I even left my number for a comic that I was searching for and they called me the next week to say that they had it!

It was my first time at this comic store and O came because it was free comic day! The store is small, but clean and bright with friendly employees. I was able to find eight back issues of a series I have been trying to complete for years - most had multiple copies in both cover variants! Needless to say, I will be back to this comic store!

I have good memories of this store when I was a kid in the 90s. If you want excellent customer service I dont know what to tell ya lol. But these are nice people and they have a cool store. I am very sad to hear that Dave of Daves Comics recently passed away. His shop and Nostalgia Plus are the best in Richmond. Miss my old city. One day when I visit I will bring my kids into this store and buy them whatever they want. Just like my Parents did for me when I was a boy at this very store. Nostalgia Plus keep going strong!

Been trying to find a comic shop that felt like home for about 2 years now. I remember this place being called Nostalgia Comics, and didnt care for it. Its been taken over by new owners and it is AMAZING! Today, I have found that place. Amazing store and staff. Easily the best ive EVER been in. This is now my shop!

A very cute little comic book shop that is very much claustrophobic due to material but in a very nostalgic way to me. Who doesnt remember sitting amongst a pile of comic books and reveling in the fact that you collected and read through them all? I have no complaints and the staff was very friendly. I highly recommend you try it.

Ive been buying comics here for the past 20 years and is always a treat when I can make it in. Members of the staff can be unapproachable at times but they keep the store pretty well stocked. Comics, statues and trade paperbacks are plentiful and they have a decent selection of back stock. That being said, Id love to see this store live on and some fresh blood or a social media presence (akin to Velocitys) might help bring in some new traffic and introduce comics to younger generations (who will become the more mature audience eventually). Website also needs updating as it appears to be largely untouched in the past decade. Great store though, check them out!

Decent selection here, but unfortunately did not carry the type of graphic novels I was looking for. The person on staff was very kind, but claimed there were Marvel omnibus on a shelf when there was none there. I will have to find a reason to come back here versus others in the area for what I am looking for.

Easily one of my favorite comic stores in Virginia. Marvin is one of the friendlist people you will ever meet and he will never turn down an opportunity to talk about comic book characters and story lines. The store has a lot to offer in both comic books, graphic novels, and action figures. Highly recommended!

Nice little shop, but only one table for playing games. No public restrooms. People were very nice and enthusiastic, but there are better shops in the area to sit down and spend hours playing games.

Wife and I visited while grabbing something for Duck Donuts across the parking lot. We were greeted and asked if we were looking for anything in particular, I was but they didnt have it (not surprising as it was an older collection from Vertigo), however they had plenty of other comics and we made a couple of purchases. Their organization technique is much like what you would fine at a convention, just boxes of comics poorly labeled that require a bit of effort to search through. But we didnt mind and while it looked like madness the owners knew where everything was located and helped my wife find something quickly.Neither of us are hard core comic collectors but we do enjoy them and have added nostalgia plus to our list of regular stops when on the hunt.

Incredible staff who understand the fun for novices as well as the serious notes for the most finicky collector. From comics, CCG, to table-top gaming - I highly recommend these wonderful people and their store and wares!

Amazing place to come to. I not only get my weekly comic pulls from them, but have also bought RPG books and found a lot of cards for MTG commander decks Ive been looking to build there. Im not as knowledgeable on the subject, but they do seem to have quite a large collection of Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon cards as well.The staff is incredibly knowledgable and strives for a level of accessibility that that completely debunks that Simpsons comic guy stereotype who made me so apprehensive when I first started. This store is owned and operated by some amazing people who really seem to love what they do, and I cant recommend it enough.

Small old comics pile and selection of other stuff. Good for occasional new release or variant cover. Has pushy policy about not reading the books so dont look at any one comic too long and you should be OK. Made a good suggestion once before letting me in on vibe harshing policy.

So I had heard from a couple of people that it was a little cramped and they arent kidding. Theres SO much stuff here. I just wish I could go through all of it. Luckily what I was looking for was newer and on display, but this place could use some good organizing. If theres even a little bit more organization this store will be awesome. Great potential, but needs some work on the execution. The staff is very friendly as well.

Alpha is a great comics ship worth checking out if you are in the Willow Lawn area. The staff is always helpful and nice, they have a diverse and interesting stock of items, and they are very well organized.

Regarding the response of the owner to the complaints I can only say yikes just yikes. I guess his older crowd that he claims to cater to are in the morgue or close to it. Learn to cater to all crowds if you want to make money. When you go out of business I sure hope you are not going to ask why. I guess watching cat videos on YouTube is a good stress reducer after moving. What does being an older/newer comic reader have to do with giving or not giving a guy a bag for his comics when it is raining?

It is a wonderful game shop me and my friends were interested in learning dnd and moments after entering the staff were super helpful and let us set up a day to come and have a teaching session, they were incredibly understanding and taught us how to play, they even recommended groups where we could go and play

I came about a year ago and had difficulty even moving in the store because of clutter. I like digging through issues and finding what I am looking for... but the sheer mass of the clutter was daunting.Now though its organized! A large selection that fits in a smaller space is hard to get right. There are still boxes around but they are better organized - I can find something if Im looking for it! Or I can browse the large selection.It came under new ownership and I think they are doing a fantastic job updating the place while keeping the spirit of the old shop around.

A Classic Comic Book store. Disorganized in many ways, though the new comics are set up exactly alphabetical for easy perusal. Ive found many surprises on the shelves. Broad selection of things Ive not seen at any other Richmond VA area shop. I happen to like this store quite a lot for the breadth of selection, particularly book collections.
