Not just a bakeryGET THE CANELÉS!! this place is has so many gluten free and vegan options!! I have loved them for years even got my wedding cake here! They are so good at what they do and their staple item the caneles are so delicious!! The atmosphere is cozy to sit down if you wanna stay a while. With outdoor seating too. I got the last slice of amaretto cake and I will say it was DELICIOUS 😋!!! It was so light and the icing wasnt too sweet. I would definitely recommend if you ever get the urge to get something sweet. 🧁🧁🎂 #wpaisthebomb

If I could give 6 stars I would! I stopped in 20 minutes before close on my way out of Richmond and mentioned to the cashier that I live in a small town 3 hours away where I dont have much access to gluten free sweets as someone with a gluten allergy. There wasnt much left to choose from understandably since I was there so late so the lovely cashier gave me a heaping slice of the coffee cake I ordered. I didnt get her name but she was so sweet and I am deeply appreciative. Also got a large helping of the mixed berry pie. Both are phenomenal! Cant wait to stop by again next time Im in the area.

Not great for custom cakes. We ordered a cake over the phone. We picked it up and the writing was perfect; but when we cut into it later, we discovered that they didnt get the fruit filling correct. That would have been fine (maybe a phone miscommunication), but the quality of the cake was just average as well.

We tried several Gluten-Free and glutenous treats and we had breakfast sandwiches as well. Everything was superb! Just really outstanding. So many Gluten-Free choices, really incredible. The idea coffee was very nice too. The service was fast friendly and did a great job when I wasnt very good at ordering.

I placed an order in person to get my birthday cake, with 3 days in advance, I expected for today Oct 20th, I just came again to pick it up, and the cashier just said that my order was took it for another day, since my birthday is today Oct 20th! And I didn’t get anything finally! She didn’t care AT ALL!!. And she did not do anything to fix her mistake! Very disappointed!!

WPA is sensational! We got our wedding desserts here - the key lime pie, lemon chess pie, coconut cream pie, sticky bun cheesecake, and a bunch of cake. It was soo SO GOOD and David communicated often and thoroughly. It’s so nice to find a delicious consistent reliable bakery - WPA is just that! And did I mention everything was gluten free?? We’ve gone there have a dozen times now and it’s always delicious. Try the muffins, too!

For my gluten-free son, this is his favorite bakery anywhere. Even for us non-gluten-free people, their baked goods are excellent. Their caneles are to die for.

As a GF vegetarian, I’m so lucky that WPA is in Richmond. They have delicious V&GF pastries (my favorites are the muffins, scones, and English muffins). Perfect for breakfast and brunch!

I’m an EMT and I go here about once a week for something and I’ve never had anything bad. They have the most phenomenal muffins (blueberry is my favorite) and I once got a vegan blueberry muffin and almost didn’t because I didn’t think a vegan pastry could be that good and boy did they prove me wrong. Friendly staff, quick service and really cozy vibe. This gem is one of my favorite cafes/bakeries in Richmond!

They didnt have enough chocolate bakery items and as a chocolate well caramel skin color I didnt feel very welcomed...ir maybe the counterperson is just not very welcoming...😒

Come here and get some iced coffee. They have simple syrup and vanilla syrup to sweeten you up or not, the way you like it. And eat some canales (cahn-a-lay) which are a carmelized crepe batter like a tiny popover, omg, so good.

The wonderful people of WPA went above and beyond to make my husband’s birthday special. They made an absolutely amazing cheesecake and even customized it. It was super yummy too. They’re now my go-to bakery whenever I’m in Richmond!

I got a vegan cake here for my bridal shower. It was delicious and beautifully decorated with raspberry filling. We didn’t tell the non-vegans that it was vegan and no one could tell. They all liked it. I want to come back and check out their other goodies.

Cant find a bad item. My favorite are the paquets,dough will fillings like ham and cheese or peppers and pesto. Yum. Pies are really good.

I picked up a lemon cake for my wifes birthday. I did not realized when I ordered it that WPA specializes in vegan, gluten free, etc. The lemon cake that I got was not the typical artificially colored, artificially flavored lemon cake that we love and are used to getting. This cake had a less intense, but a more natural lemon flavor and color. It was a bit unexpected, but the more of it I ate, the more I enjoyed it. It was very moist and had a homemade quality. I would definitely go back to try some of the their other offerings. Knowing they have healthier options that are just as tasty make them all the more appealing.

Kind of minimal (just one brewed coffee, no espresso machine) but the coffee was good and the blueberry muffin was the best Ive ever had (and thats coming from a baker. I thought mine was good but this blew mine out of the water).

My birthday cake was really good, first time ever tasting their cakes,only thing I felt was wrong is the way it was packaged, Ive never seen a birthday cake where just clear wrap covered it, whether than just using a cake box,I didnt like that part of it at all &I feel when my girlfriend picked it up a box shouldve been offered if we preferred one,if I ever chose to get any cake from there again I want that option or Ill go somewhere else for a cake

I ordered a cake for my wifes birthday and WPA made probably the single best chocolate cake (with chocolate whipped cream icing) Ive ever had. Everyone loved it and it was my wifes favorite birthday cake! WPA is definitely my new go-to spot for cakes.

This was my first time here, so I didnt order that much, and there wasnt much available when I was there, but what I did order was okay.Service was nice and friendlyThe caneles were good but would have been better had I gotten there closer to when they were made. They were tender and not dry and not overly sweet. Nothing I would make a special trip for though.The chocolate muffin was dry and somewhat Bland but had nice notes of spice.The mushroom stuffed pastry needed some moisture and salt, but the breading was excellent.The pies looked really good so Im going to come back and try other things and then adjust my review.

On 4/8 ordered two cakes, one to be picked up on 4/17 and one to be picked up on 4/21. When I went to pick up my cake on 4/17, the cake wasn’t there and there was no signs of my order. I asked the front desk if they had my 4/21 pickup order and they confirmed that one.Definitely call back to re-confirm your order. I will update my review once I have a chance to enjoy one of their cakes, hopefully.

Their focus is on being a bakery and producing some of my favorite pies, cakes, and muffins in the city. They have lots of vegan and gluten free options. They have a small cafe perfect for reading or working while enjoying breakfast or lunch and a cup of coffee. Their table space is small however, so dont plan on getting seating for a group bigger than 2.

I go to WPA several times a week for a muffin or a slice of pie. My wife also loves it. Never loud and always available seating. I would highly recommend it.

My husband and I visited Richmond for the first time and we were very purposeful in trying out Richmonds best rated bakery, WPA Bakery. The line was almost out the door when we got there about 10:30am. Our order was taken at 10:56, so there was a little bit of a wait which gave us time to look around the quaint, no frills shop. We ordered a blueberry muffin which was enough to share between two people but would have been more exciting with a handful more fresh or frozen blueberries inside it. Our delightful surprise was the vegan housemade biscuit sandwich with fresh fluffy scrambled eggs, vegan sausage patty and cheese. HOLY SMOKES! My husband and I shared it and it was beyond delicious. The biscuit came out hot and was so tender and bigger than expected. It deliciously held its shape to correctly sandwich the freshly prepared egg and fillings. SO WORTH THE WAIT! When you serve me something as delicious as this, I can see why the line was out the door. Finally, I, personally am a neat freak, so my rating overall isnt a 5 because it did seem a bit neglected in this area. I understand the rustic feel of Richmonds history, but cleanliness does contribute to an overall enjoyment of the food, vibe, experience, and helps me to feel confident that the kitchen is as clean as the tables I am sitting at. This is totally correctable with a bit of regular TLC, and some maybe wouldnt care as much but to some its why we would rate a place 5 overall.

We didnt even get to try this bakery. Paid two tolls to get downtown and when we got there the bakery had closed early. No note just a locked door and empty bakery.

The buttermilk pie is incredibly smooth and creamy, the crust was fantastic. It’s such a nice little bakery in a neat little neighborhood.

Have you ever had a homemade english muffin?!?!?! Well I need and I promise it will not be my last. It was so soft and I might not ever eat Thomas English Muffins again. This is a hip bakery in Richmond that is patronized by lots of locals and students from the surrounding college and medical school. (You will see lots of laptops out.) They have outdoor tables to enjoy the weather while you eat too.

BEWARE ALLERGY SENSITIVE CUSTOMERS!!!My husband and I stopped in to check out their gluten free pastries. I asked the girl if the apple pie had corn products in it because I am allergic. She said no., I even asked a second time to be sure. She said no it didn’t have any corn products I ordered it. Ate it. Now am having a reaction. I called their other location to ask what was in the GF apple pie. It has corn starch. I am so angry. Now I will be sick for a week because of her not knowing facts and basically lying to me. And besides that- the service by the 2 girls that were working was horrible. You just lost our business.

Great lil bakery

Superb service and scrumptious baked goods. Also, excellent coffee. On my last visit I got an iced coffee, but the star of the show was the vegan blueberry pie. A sweet crumble topping ties together the pastry and a healing helping of giant blueberries. Highly recommend.

The pastries are good, but the service is nonexistent. The people at the front counter could careless if you purchase anything or not. I go there a few times a month because the biscuit breakfast is really good and every time the front desk staff is the worst, not helpful and just act so put-upon that you are asking them for anything. Almost everyone I speak with has the same experience.

My first visit some time back on a food tour was excellent. I was very impressed with the caneles. Since then i have tried a number of caneles at other vendors, and none were even close to the quality of WPA. Sadly, when we visited today, the caneles looked undercooked, and when i bit in, I found both gummy. Our brownie and other pastry were both rather dry. I really hope that i just caught WPA on an off day, during a challenging business environment we are experiencing.

I had a wonderful experience. I called ahead of time to make a special order. My husband has EE and he is severely intolerant to dairy products. It was his birthday and usually I just bake him something. I heard about this bakery from a friend at work, and they told me they have vegan cakes. So I decided to give them a try.When I got to the store to pick it up, it was adorable inside. The staff was very friendly. The cake itself was BEAUTIFUL!! I was so pleased with my order. That night at his party, he was so excited to see it was a store bought cake!! He hasnt had a cake like that in probably 10 years or so. Everyone else was impressed too. It was so delicious!! Thank you so much to the staff for making this wonderful cake. We will be returning for sure!

Simply fantastic!Weve gone there a few time on Sunday mornings for our Sunday School class and gotten the gluten free donuts (we have multiple people in our class that cant have gluten) and they have been amazing! Even those who can eat things w/gluten could not tell the difference. This is a fantastic bakery and we will definitely be back again!

Yum! So good. It is quieter than the much LOUDER coffee house nearby. Both have good food and good coffee, but WPA is where you want to go if you want to have a conversation or want a more relaxing experience.

Its always a fun day when you get to visit WPA. All of their vegan goodies are delicious (I LOVE the vegan breakfast sandwich on a biscuit) and everyone that works there is really nice and welcoming. They also play really great music.

Whether a cookie or a custom cake WPA provides really well-made delicious & creative baked goods. Additionally the staff and owners are extraordinary friendly and helpful. I love going to this place. The people are very friendly and its a very laid back environment and the baked goods are all really good. They are more reasonably priced than many other bakeries and still have excellent quality. Ive become a regular and encourage others to try it out. Excellent baked goods without the pretentious environment.

This is our favorite bakery in Church Hill. Sticky Bun Saturdays are delicious, and their sour cream coffee cake is wonderful!! It is also a great place to go when the vegans in our family come to visit. They have a ton of vegan and gluten free muffin, pie, cake, and cookie options.

Food is good but ambiance is a bit echoey and quiet rather than the homey charm one wants in a building this size - see a much better example right down the street. Staff seemed a little disorganized and not a lot of seating. Not recommended for more than 2 people.
