I have purchased three cars from Hertz in the last 6 years in Richmond VA. The staff are excellent (sales and finance) and the cars are dependable and priced right. If you need a good car at a fair price do not waste your time at Carmax or another dealership. Derek and Nadiya will take care of you and you will get a dependable quality pre-owned car. Even though we didnt have an appointment the Hertz representatives were very attentive to us. They made the car buying process very easy and effortless. Definitely would recommend going there if youre looking for a newer model vehicle for less money.

I called on an advertised car for sale on cars.com. I called location to set up an appointment to see it. The person there said it is not there, she said weve never had that car(location office was in the background of cars pictures), then immediately proceeded to inform me of other cars. It was a bait and switch. Its a common tactic and I realize that. However, if this is how they operate, it shows their business ethics are questionable. Im not saying one shouldnt do business with them, just be sharp and aware. I consider this a 1 star review offense, but will give them a 3, and ask they stop this tactic.

Was really excited about potentially leaving Hertz today with a new car! Walked in and stood for 5 minutes and out of the 5 employees I saw working 20 ft of me, not one greeted me or acknowledged me in anyway. I then took myself on a tour through the lot looking up cars in their website and hunted them down myself. Found 3 cars I was highly interested in so I again entered the lobby. Again I was invisible to the staff, in guess no one had any intention of selling a car today! Now I’m heading to Grace Auto Sales to pick out my new chariot! Hertz hurts!

Went there to purchase a car. Had a 4 pm appt. Got there early and was able to be seen. My salesperson was friendly and willing to work with me. Have to go back in a couple of days to complete the deal. It is worth it. You wont be disappointed.

I called a few times in inquire about a vehicle I could completely pay for out of pocket. They were rude on the phone and gave very poor excuses as to why they could not provide a car fax or even a service record on the vehicle saying I had to find it online. I looked online and couldn’t find any information detailing what had been done to the vehicle. It could have had an accident, how would I know if I bought it online and had it delivered without any paperwork beforehand? I’ve been burned before on that little deal. I think just getting the service record would have put my worries enough at ease to purchase it, but that was too much to ask apparently.

After having my car for almost a week from Hertz auto sale my brakes starting messing up and to remind you only a week of having the car and I called to let them know they was the rudest people after I purchased the car and the guy I was on the phone with was very disrespectful and cussed at my before hanging up this is not the type of service nobody deserve and Hertz should be a shame of the people they hire and yes Im upset because this is a car I have to pay for

I tried to purchase a vehicle from this lot!!! Their customer service is horrible!!! I am 4.5 hrs away and would had to make travel arrangements to get there and told them that. I tried for 3 days to get a color verification of a vehicle that was listed on their website. The reason for the question was that the Colors in the pictures did not match the description color and I was looking for a specific color combination. I spoke with Milton, Derek ( he would not give me his name), Maria, and Meghan. All of them promised to get back with me and I have not heard anything!!!! If its that much trouble trying to spend money with them, I could not imagine if I needed service work done. I hope someone reads this and passes the poor review on.I see the reply from Elyse.... it appears that customer service there is horrible and will not be addressed. The mgmt there is the problem!!!!

Purchased vehicle recently and found the staff to be truthful and helpful. Salesman Charly was great to deal with, when he was out spoke with Manager Al and salesperson Maria. Couldnt have been more friendly or willing to assist. The company needs to better coordinate the rent2buy and sales departments. But the local staff did all they could to assist. History, found a car on the lot but wanted to do more research before purchasing, several says later called the salesman, and the car was still there he advised all sales were first come first serve. As luck would have it I schedule an appointment that evening when I got off work, you guessed someone else bought the car. So he helped me pick a similar car from the r2b, as we waited for the car to be ready he continued to research and called me to suggest I choose a different car as more information had become available to him. This actually happened twice. One additional car actually arrived at their site and he called and said he could not sell me the car. so we looked one more time, this time the car came in and was near perfect (remember it was a used vehicle). This is the car I closed on. Great people, and IF you have time and patience the r2b program can work, it will likely not be for you if you are in a rush.

VERY HAPPY WITH MY EXPERIENCE! Im from Chesapeake so I made sure to have my financing and paperwork squared away beforehand. MARIA was extremely helpful ( please be patient, this is a very busy place! ) She followed up with me and kept me in the loop. When I arrived CAITLYN had my car pulled out, cleaned and waiting for me. It drove very solid as expected. Rental companies keep their fleets in top condition - mechanically and visually - so I was very comfortable driving off with an only one year old car for nearly half the price. KEVIN was very accommodating ( again, considering how busy this place got! ) If youre within a couple hours of this place I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!

The only con is higher mileage however, the prices are AMAZING.... definitely shop here its worth it (they cant lower prices tho) unless u want a brand new car with zero miles etc....give them a call. From a repeat customer

My old car recently died completely and needed to be replaced. I had already been approved for financing through Chase,and Hertz was one of the dealers they use. Hertz made the whole car buying experience very pleasant and easy. And your website made picking out the car I wanted easy to do before I even set foot on the lot. I test drove the two I had my eye on and made my selection. the whole process, from the minute I got there until I drove off in my new car was 3 hours. I am one happy customer.

Appointment required to see cars. Did not see this on the website and drove down only to be told when we got there. They said they’d would grab the keys though and let me sit in the car (which is literally all we wanted). Stood outside for 10 minutes before we decided to bail.

Their customer service is horrible & I suggest you take your business elsewhere. I called 4 times to set up an appointment to come in and purchase a car, which I was directed to do by their staff. After this, I called back multiple times due to the fact I was told their “scheduling manage” would have to call me to do so. I never received a call after I was told 2 days in a row that I would. I called back a few more times during business hours and was ignored. The more troubling thing is the fact that whoever is representing hertz continues to comment on posts such as this one and claims that they will address the issue. Out of the numerous posts I’ve seen and customer reviews I’ve seen regarding similar problems, I can tell you they don’t address it at all. Typically, when a company has a problem with the structure, or lack there of with a specific location, they address the problem at the source. This is not the case here at all.

My husband and I had such a wonderful experience here. Shopping for a car is typically not an experience I enjoy. However, Charly was a pleasure to work with. He was knowledgeable, kind, and not at all pushy. Our paperwork experience was also smooth without pressure to buy extras. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. We plan to come back for our next car!

Disorganized, poor customer service. No record of our appointment despite 3 phone calls to see a specific vehicle. When we arrived gentleman greeted, said he was with a customer and to have a seat. We waited almost 40 minutes before we were helped. The vehicle we had made appointment to see had a very flat tire when we arrived. Solution was drive it to gas station to put air in it.

I purchased a 2018 Toyota Yaris iA from Hertz Richmond. My car buying experience was good overall. Maria was friendly and professional. I secured my own financing through my bank. That made things go more smoothly.As for the Yaris I purchased. I drove over 100 miles to pick it up. Got back home. All four valve stems were missing caps. The engine air filter was filthy. Why wasnt that changed? The windshield wipers streaked. Well at least they changed the oil!Here is Hertz quality statement from their website: “So what is a Hertz Certified vehicle? Most are carefully selected from our rental fleet, and all meet rigorous standards and undergo an extensive pre-delivery inspection. You dont have to worry about what you might find under the hood because weve already thoroughly checked.” Obviously Hertz didnt put much effort into prepping the car for sale. The Richmond sales office evidently could be doing a better job prepping cars for sale.Despite the minor issues, the car I got is pretty nice. And I paid well below blue book.

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM HERTZ CAR SALES!!! I purchased a car froM this place a year ago and Ive been having problems with this car every since. Within the first 3 months of me having the car I was told I needed brakes and rotors. I purchased the maintenance plan during the time I purchased the car and the guys at Pep boys told me I needed them plus more work. I then got a second opinion from the Kia dealership and they were right. After calling the general manager at the West Broad Street location and not getting any results, I got in touch with the corporate office in Florida A guy name Rick,  they got my brakes and rotors done. I didnt do all this damage to this care in the first few months. Its been going down hill every since then. Ive been trying to call them because I still need a lot of work done to this car. Not to mention the day I purchased the car, it wasnt detailed or clean upon doing the paper work. The salesman that assisted us Charly was awesome with assisting us doing the car buying experience. Buying a car new or used should be a great experience, not worrying about how Im going to get this work done to my car. Oh I forgot to mention Ive been trying to call the corporate office because I just had to pay 500.00 to get my inspection done which was ball joints and something else. The car when I purchased it has a 2019 inspection sticker on it, how I dont know. A lot of the things that was on the check list needed to be repair and or was broken like my back seat that rocks back and forth. When I spoke on it to the guys at Hertz they said I was responsible for it. I had to get an inspection this pass September and had to pay for the work the guys at Pep Boys told me needed to be done. I called the corporate office about 2 weeks ago and still havent gotten a response. This place clearly dont take care of their cars or dont stand behind them. When operating a business you have to make sure the customer is satisfied. I will be seeking legal help with this matter. I was only given 1 key that is and has been broken from the day I got the car and I have to pay for it out of pocket. Horrible place.

This is a great place to buy a used car. The cars are low mileage, kept up well, and are priced below Kelley Blue Book. The sales people are not high-pressured.This is the third car we bought from them and were very satisfied.

I give the cars 4 stars, but the customer service/my experience get zero stars. I previously purchased 2 cars from Hertz Car sales, and have no complaints about the cars or those experiences. Not true for this location.Since I live several hours away I started emailing with a person named CHARLY KAMTCHOUM at the Richmond VA location. Her responses have been slow to non-existent. I sent her pictures of my trade, and how much I wanted to get for it. She said shed get back to me after talking to her manager. I waited a day and emailed again. Called and was told she wasnt in. Two more emails and 8 days later - nothing. I now cant locate my desired car, so can only assume it has been sold. This has been an exercise in futility and wasted time. I dont mind buying rental cars, but I will need to rethink this location.

I have to amend my original post, because customer service is a priority to me. Being lied to is unforgivable to me. We were told that a second key to our vehicle was being sent and would be there in a couple of days. We waited days and was told the key had not arrived yet. After 2 more attempts we were told not only is there no second key, but they never told us there was. Now theyre recommending a locksmith at our expense rather than keeping their word. This may seem like a small issue, but trust is a major factor in who you buy used car from.

My first point of contact was with J.J. and he got our financing application processed quickly. He was unavailable the day we went in to finalize our purchase, however Caitlyn took care of my husband and I and was phenomenal. She was transparent with us the whole time and never pushy. Caitlyn obviously knew what she was talking about and we could not have been happier with the process here. Would definitely recommend this Hertz to anyone looking for an affordable, but still nice car to get you around.

I wish I didnt have to give them a star this is the worst dealership ever. Horrible customer service. My mother and I went to purchase a car at this location in August. When we got inside my mother and I stood at the door waiting before anyone approached us to help us. Finally a member of the hertz team approached us. When we sat down with him he didnt seem interested in anything we had to say we told him what we were looking for and I kept having to ask him if there were any cars on the lot that fit our criteria. Finally he gave us a list of 4 cars and we were ready to walk the lot and look at the cars. My mom and I got up and he stayed seated at his desk. We stood by the door and he didnt make any attempt to follow us. My mom and I decided to then get a head start looking at the cars hoping that he would meet us outside with the keys for the cars we discussed, but he never came outside to help us look at any of the cars all of which were locked instead he just stared at my mom and I walking through the lot from the window of the dealership. I spoke with the manager and he seemed as if he didnt care about the poor customer service that his sales person exhibited. Needless to say we went to another dealership and brought two brand new cars off of their lot instead. I would never give my business to this dealership

On the plus side...the cars were reasonably priced and in decent shape, and there was a good selection. The salespeople were all nice and friendly. Just not very...helpful.On the downside, many of their business policies were asinine and Ive never met a bunch of car salesmen less interested in taking our money. Make sure you can get a check the day you visit, or you may lose your car.They will not, under any circumstances take a deposit on a car. You can NOT hold a car - as another reviewer mentioned, you may have a car sold out from under you while youre on the way to the dealership with a cashiers check. You have zero assurance that the car you are coming to buy will be there when you show up to get it. And if you need some time to get a bank check or arrange insurance, when you show up to collect it you may find youve just insured someone elses car...Additionally, they do not accept cash, credit cards, wire transfers, EFT, Paypal, or anything but cashiers/certified checks, money orders, bank financing, or personal checks (??). So if you show up and find a car you like, you cant just buy it, or even hold it with a deposit unless you have a checkbook on you and cash in the bank to cover it. If you have to move money around and get to the bank to get a cashiers check, you may lose your car.We discussed financing with them - not because we needed it, but because we wanted to close quickly and we had to move money out of a brokerage to get a cashiers check, and the financing should have been quick. We told them wed apply through one of our banks (BoA), but we only wanted it if the terms were good. Without going into excessive detail...they said it would be quicker if they did the application, and it did not go well. Applications made for loans from other banks we didnt authorize, no clear communication of terms and needs, etc. etc. A couple of the loans were declined, which given our credit history and financial position means the app they submitted was unclear, incomplete, or inaccurate. They took very minimal information from us.We eventually paid via cashiers check, as the finance process was a mess of poor communication and misunderstanding and absolutely maddening. If wed dealt with our own bank ourselves, it would have been smooth...our mistake.For the closing, we called ahead when we were coming with a cashiers check. When we arrived, we sat for the better part of an hour, check in hand, waiting for someone to help us as the only sales person there was busy when we arrived. We sat a lot. It took about two hours to get the car purchased, most of it was us sitting around waiting.While trying to buy the car and arrange the purchase, we had trouble getting information and getting calls returned. It would have been better if someone had said from the get go If you dont have a check with you, dont waste your time. When someone says Ill call you first thing when I get to work in the morning, it would be nice if they actually did.I do not know if all Hertz sales lots work this way, but this was the most aggravating and stressful car purchase Ive ever made. It seemed there was no real interest in selling me a car, there wasnt much product knowledge shared with us, and some of the sales staff didnt seem to know much and had to keep going to the manager for basic info.Small complaint also - the car we bought had been sitting on the lot for a while, it was dirty on the outside and dusty on the inside. It wasnt filthy or gross, just the usually crud that settles on a car left outside for a while. But when buying a new car - even a used one - it would be nice if you didnt have to go to a car wash right after you left the dealer.Thats one of the problems with not allowing people to secure cars and make appointments to close on them - you cant do things like run a dustcloth over the dash and hose off the dirt before you deliver the car, I guess. Never mind fill out the paperwork before they get there to pick it up.We like the car though, and it checked out mechanically.

Maria is amazing, she dealt with me wandering all over the lot, running back and worth to the office to get keys until I made up my mind, took us for an excellent test drive. At best we spent 2 and half hours there, from time of arrival until we drove off with a new to us vehicle. Thank you so much Maria for your help and your patience, I would recommend you to anyone.Now the reason for only 4 stars is when I started to inquire into buying a vehicle through Hertz, I had spoke with a gentleman who was kind enough, but had flat out lied to me over the phone. I understand Salesmen have a way about them, but if you want to sell some cars and make some money DO NOT JUST STRAIGHT OUT LIE!!! Especially when the customer has fast resources to research the truth. To all fellow shoppers, Hertz Car Sales does honor the AAA discount which takes an average of $300 off the price of the car which helps to pay the dealer fee.

If can rate this establishment 0 stars I WOULD! About a year ago, I went to this location to purchase 2 vehicles for my kids for graduation. We spoke to JJ, the salesman, in regards to getting the vehicles inspected by an auto mechanic shop that was near by. With the manager’s approval, a slim black guy on his period, gave JJ the approval to take the cars to the nearby auto mechanic shop. We PAID to have the vehicles inspected ONLY to have one of the cars sold right under our nose. I was heartbroken. I couldn’t believe that the manager would do that to us. I tried speaking to the ignorant manager but he didn’t care and didn’t want to be bothered. He didn’t try to make things right or give me back my refund for the inspection. We have a business and certainly would not treat our customers that way. Potential buyers, beware DO NOT BUY from this LOCATION. They have 0 integrity! GO TO WHITTEN BROTHERS! I bought 2 mazada and have NO regret.

Worst experience I’ve ever had. My sales woman was constantly trying to talk about other things than the car. I told her upfront I wanted to test drive and then think it over. She immediate says I can’t promise the car will be here in a few days. I said I wouldn’t expect it to be.Once we started the test drive before I even adjusted the seat she was pushing me to drive and not change anything. Once we actually got on the road I obviously asked about the car. She did everything she could to not answer. We get back and she says so are you buying tonight. Of course I say no, I only wanted to test drive and then think it over. She then tries to say if you lose your keys and then find them, why would you keep searching? After she got done explaining it terribly I said, I haven’t lost my keys. I’m upgrading my keys and the key you’ve got isn’t exactly the biggest upgrade. The only reason I’m here is the price and it shows why it’s so low.She then says again she can’t promise the car will still be here. I tell her again, I wouldn’t expect it to be nor expect them to hold it.She then suggests that we run the numbers and then I can go home and think about it.We go through their credit process and she says she can’t show me what they are offering.Obviously I get upset and frustrated and ask her questions to try and understand why. Three words into my questions and she begins speaking over me saying she isn’t a finance person and it would break the law if she told me. I finally can’t take anymore and tell her to let me speak and get my full question out. Btw it was hertz can’t tell me what they are offering in terms of apr and term length until I commit to buying the car? She never answers the question and then a finance guy comes over and tells me not to raise my voice. The only reason I did is so that I could get a word out.I finally realize I’m under no obligation to stay there and say I’m not buying this car please shred and delete all of my information.Oh we can’t do that, if you come back in we would have to run everything again and that would hurt your credit. I said I’m not coming back I promise you. Even if I did the car wouldn’t be here remember.It’s been about a month now and I’ve gotten 3 follow up emails telling me to come in and buy the car...

Priced below KBB is a bit of a misnomer because KBB assumes a condition indicative of normal wear and tear. The cars we looked at were damaged. One had a front bumper cover that was just barely attached. One had the inside of the fender shredded. These were clearly in minor accidents. Now, I know rental car companies are quick to file a claim on the renters car insurance policy. I assume they pocketed the claim check and put the damaged cars on the lot. One last thing--no matter how much you shine up bald tires-they are still bald!

Dont waste your time going in there. I stopped by and talked to Peter Clark, who was so uninterested in us and didnt even look at us for one second while we talked to him.He had no clue about the warranties; if there is anything transferable or not and had absolutely no will to help or give us any information.Do not bother to go there and waste your time!
