Bought a car a few days ago from the Richmond location. We love the car. Sale and Finance were great. However we discovered that the tires were two different sizes, the oil needed to be changed and the air filter was filthy. We called about that and got an attitude from them. I asked for a service appointment to get these things taken care of and the service dept is not open on Saturdays. So now I have to take off work to get these things done or either pay for them myself. I asked about a loaner and was told once the diagnosis is complete they will determine if I need a loaner or not, guessing this means if they are keeping the car for a day or two or if theyll be able to get to it right away. I am also guessing they will not reimburse me for the time I have to take off work for things they didnt check in the first place. So now its a couple weeks since I wrote this review. My husband addressed these issues with the manager and he immediately resolved all of them. Carmax bent over backward to make sure we were satisfied and they were more than fair. I am upgrading my star count and would definitely shop there again.

This place is a joke. I asked for a car to be transferred to a store closer to me. The location is was coming from was 23 miles away. You would think it would take a day, maybe two at the most. No so. Four days later it’s still not ready. When I called to find out the status of it on day four, I was told that they are still inspecting it. What??? Why would it need to be inspected if it was for sale at another location just 23 miles away??? It’s not like it’s coming from a different state. Was also told the receiving location was waiting on the title. Are you serious??? Waiting on a title. Why wasn’t the title sent with the car??? Can you not use a scanner and electronically send one??? Does it take more than four days to ‘send’ a title??? To say that this company is unprofessional would be an understatement. This is why people think the used car industry is nothing but a bunch of stupid vultures.

I am a returning customer of CarMax for many years, trying to buy a new pre-owned for my own use from this site. I have a legal drivers license but the manager of This site requests something very unusual. The request is that I need to have “car insurance” before allowing me to test drive.I am currently on a rental and do not have a insurance attach to me personal then they rejected my test drive.How can a person have car insurance before he owns a car ? This is just not a fair request. This happened yesterday at this site. Never saw this kind of request anywhere before in my life. Does anyone ever ?Is this their discrimination or something ? At CarMax, really ?

For car haulers:1. After 7pm they do not give you a vehicle if it is inside the gate.2. Once you have slip out, you can pick up between 8am to 7pm.3. Unfortunately my vehicles were supposed to be outside, but somehow still were inside the gate, i had to wait their business department to open which is 10 am.4. Pretty much lost almost a day from 7:30pm - till 10 am5. If your vehicle outside their gate you can pick it up, there is a locker.

I drove an hour to look at a truck round trip it was 2 hours. I talked to one of your reps on the phone the night before and sent the buyer order to my credit union. I was all ready to purchase this low milage truck. When I arrived and began inspecting the truck I found touch up paint done in the completely wrong color. The minor scratches to the truck would have been barley notice able but your paint shop decided to ruin a perfectly good truck that would have cost more than 1/3rd the cost of a 30k truck.We decided to try to look at a few other trucks and found the same issue. When the manager came to look at the truck his first statement was that the truck should have never even been on the lot. The inside wasnt cleaned properly and had dirty on the floor and smudges on the dash.When we looked more closely at the truck we also found where they had repairs some damage on the front bumper and left the tape on one of the lights proving they had painted the bumper while it was still on the truck! I have had plenty of work done on cars to know this is not how a professional paints a bumper. The job the body shop did made the truck worthless and wasted hours on my time.I had an appointment, had a buyers order, and gave them from 5pm till 10am the following day and was extremely disappointed with what I saw as a representation of CarMax.The manager did end up giving us half a tank of gas for our troubles but overall I will never trust any work or vehicle from this CarMax.The person who does the inspections as well as whoever painted multiple trucks should be fired

So easy, picked out a car online, got pre-approved online, made an appointment and headed to the dealership. When I got there we did have a bit of a long wait, but once the process got started it was quick and smooth. I am currently waiting on a call back from service for an issue I am having, but other than that best car buying experience I’ve ever had. It does make me feel a lot better knowing about the money back guarantee as well as knowing if anything goes wrong in 90 days they will fix it.

The process was crazy easy, you can take a test drive alone so no worries about social distancing, and I was in and out in 90 minutes. Had car shipped from Georgia. When I asked for a walk around at the Georgia store (Norcross carmax), they performed a walk-around on another car, which was higher mileage. I asked the Rosenberg carmax manager to get in touch with them, and he stated the number to the Georgia store wasnt working. I had to personally get on phone with the Norcross store and have them do a walk-around on the car I requested. When car arrived, the paperwork was ready for me to sign without a test drive. I stated I am not purchasing without a test drive. I was told I had 20 minutes to test drive. But I can say my salesman Robert, who was pretty new did his best. Now just waiting on a few things like decal install, floor mats and owners manual...being a firmer carmax employee I say the quality has gone down

If it was possible to give more than 5 stars, I would! I could not be happier with our experience at CarMax-fort bend. My husband and I could not stop talking about how easy, not stressful and fun our shopping experience was. We had a wonderful sales associate, Nick who went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. Two other employees that I would like to mention that were super friendly and helped us during our car buying process are Gary and Scott. Both of these men were so helpful, fun and just made the process so smooth and enjoyable. We were the last people in the building, as our process kept us until shortly after closing, and not a single employee was upset or frustrated that they were staying late. Every staff member congratulated us on our new purchase and truly made it an exciting evening! This is truly how car buying should be- easy, stress free and fun. We will never go to any other dealership- CarMax will absolutely have our business in the future.

This is the second car I have purchased through car Max. The first was a Jeep Wrangler in 2019 and this past March I purchased a Ford Fusion. These have been the easiest car purchases I’ve ever made. With the Jeep, we knew exactly what we wanted and they found us exactly that. With the fusion, I simply gave them a budget and they showed me all my options. All was done and approved over the phone. When we purchased the Jeep, we were out in about an hour. This time I did a home delivery. With COVID, being able to have the car delivered at home help me feel safe. I will always recommend CarMax to anyone purchasing a car.

I was so pleased with my CarMax experience! Needing a new car during a pandemic is less than ideal, but CarMax made the experience hassle free and safe. I searched their website using advanced filters then saved my search. For weeks the website sent me possible matches. Then I found the car I wanted, had it transferred to my local CarMax, and applied for preapproval...all online from my home! Everyone I dealt with on the phone and in person went above and beyond to help me and keep me safe. Best of all, I love my new car!

I went for an appraisal since I was in the middle of trying to find a new car. My brother told me about them doing it for free, so I thought if its free then it cant be a down since to it. Went in and they guy who serviced me was truly awesome and PATIENT!! I was on the phone with my mom, the insurance company and my former car company within the 2 hours I was there and fresh that guy was patient and understanding. Great staff! They even out a pretty bow on my car to take a pic. Even the finance team was AMAZING. The people are the true definition of southern hospitality

Came in purchased a Chrysler 300 now I feel I’m experiencing transmissions issues. I was told by my salesman it “ learns how you drive “ whatever that means I shift into park I feel a big thud. A 24 hour notice was given and Vehicle was not ready for my drive test due to driver tire replacement. Was given a copy of the post inspection report and information on the report was very generic and no help. If I decide to purchase a vehicle I would choose another location and maybe the my have a different mind set.

4th car Ive bought from Carmax, 3rd from Ft Bend carmax, in the past 15 months. Cars have a lways been of great quality. We had one issue with a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 truck for my son. It was still under warranty and transmission was replaced with no problem. This yr we bought Cadillac SUV for my wife and I just purchased an Audi A6 2.0 Quatro about 3 months apart. Sopond handled both cars for us and was just great. Please continue buying high quality leased vehicles at auction. I knew what I wanted in my Audi and just waited about a year for it become available online. Got a 2017 premium plus Quatro 2.0 with only 12,500 miles on it in excellent condition. Will always recommend Carmax to anyone looking to buy a car or truck.

It wasnt a bad experience, but things could have gone a little better. Somehow they ended up running our credit 4 times, affecting the monthly payment of the car we were trying to buy, and of course affecting our credit. Besides that hiccup, finding and picking out the car went well. The salesperson also helped with getting us out of there as fast as she could when the process started taking a little too long. Shes the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 3.

The entire process was seamless from start to finish. My husband recently purchased his car new and not used, so didnt buy from a CarMax and the entire experience dealing with car salesmen was awful and very frustrating. I am so glad CarMax has a no hassle process. Additionally they took high safety measures by wearing masks, and disinfecting cars before your test drive. I also saw other workers disinfecting chairs and tables after other customers left. Thank you so much for your professionalism, customer service and making the car buying process so easy! The vehicle transfer process was easy. Ismael was awesome! Really went above and beyond. Explained everything clearly and provided email updates until car arrived at fort bend location. Travis in the business office was great too!Just upset that they wouldn’t replace the tires on a car that I bought for 37k. They are worn. I will have to now deal with this expense shortly. Unacceptable honestly. Also when I mentioned a few items that needed to get addressed before I took delivery, my sales associate Mack noted them down but addressed none. It was too late in the evening when I went to pick up the car but Travis still got a few of the items addressed quickly even though many of the employees had left already. I appreciate him for doing that.

Once again I had a wonderful experience with CarMax. My consultan was Matt Feldmiller who was absolutely great. No wasted motion or sales talk. Knew his job well and executed it well. I have been here before and will probably be here again. BTW-my wife and I had spent the previous two days at conventional car lots: Dodge, Ford etc. Sticker shock on both new and used vehicles. We talked to salesman who we explained to what we wanted and how much we were going to pay. ALWAYS got lead to something else. We got appraisal offer 6 days ago(last Saturday) by Gary who is very professional and friendly person, it took 20mins to finish and I got appraisal form which would be valid for 7 days. Courtney helped us to finish our car selling process today and it took another 20mins to finish car sale. She is very polite and explains everything clearly and patiently. I have to say the whole process was really great and efficient.It is very sad day for me to say good bye to my 6 years close buddy: BMW X5. I love the people here! Ive been coming here since they have opened to pay my car bill and Ive had nothing but smiles and great people help me! A month ago we sold a car to them and it was a fast, easy, and painless experience. Charlotte from fiance even made the more legal aspects, seamless and relieving.
