Lilya is amazing! I cannot recommend this boutique enough for alterations, custom made formal wear, and more. For our wedding she altered my dress (including 5 layers of tulle in the underskirt alone) and custom created my gorgeous, tulle cathedral length veil. She even was able to add a lace monogram to the veil that I had purchased separately. Afterwards, she had my dress and veil sent to the dry cleaner for me so it would be pressed and ready for my wedding day. She custom designed my mother’s dress for the event AND created bow ties for my husband and his groomsmen, matching my shoes to her fabrics. It was honestly a dream. Her work was quickly done with incredibly high quality and for a reasonable price.

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!! I mean AH-MA-ZING, TOP NOTCH FOR SURE!I was 3 weeks away from my wedding and still needed to get alterations done to my wedding dress. I knew typically these things take a minimum of 4-6 with my wedding being so soon I was a little stressed and PANICKED thinking I wouldnt be able to get it done it in time. After looking on Google maps for the nearest alterations and a few uneasy phone calls I decided to do more research.LK Design was the FIRST name that popped up on google & after seeing all of the WONDERFUL reviews I decided to reach out. I SERIOUSLY CANNOT THANK THEM ENOUGH for taking me in and getting everything done that needed to be done to my dress (adjusted straps, took a few inches off the bottom, bustled it all up, and the amazing work the did with removing the lace from the bottom that had to be adjusted and then replaced back on the dress...needless to say she is VERY talented.) My dress was done in 2 weeks!!! Not only was I panicked on time, but also how much it would cost to me; She is VERY affordable.JOB WELL DONE! I will definitely recommend her to all my friends, family, co-workers etc!

I just loved working with the shop owner Lilya. She combined my ideas with her expertise in clothing design to create the perfect “Mother of the Groom” dress for me. The dress looks very good on me despite the fact that I have scoliosis (curved spine) because she made the proper adjustments so that it would fit just right. Lylia goes out of her way to make sure you are completely satisfied and truly takes an interest in you. On top of that, she’s just plain fun!There is no other store in the Richmond area quite like Couture By L K Design. It is chocked full of fine quality fabric. While there I never felt rushed even though the shop is very busy. Lylia seemed to juggle everyone seamlessly. On another note, Couture also has a wonderful selection of lace. I am an artist and I purchased several unique pieces to use in my artwork. Although it was probably intended for a bridal gown ;).

I bought a satin ballgown for my wedding and wanted to have a French bustle added and some minor alterations done to better fit me. My mother and I set an appointment and when I arrived there, Lilya was so professional and helpful. She measured every inch of the dress on my body and found all the right bits that need to be altered. The pricing is more than reasonable, not to mention the perfection of the garment upon completion. The dress was an absolute dream come the final fitting and tieing the bustle (she made it with blue ribbon) was so easy to do the day of. My husband said that when he turned around and saw me on our wedding day, he couldnt believe how beautiful I looked in my dress. A+ from us!

BEAUTIFUL apparel fabric store. Im always on the hunt for apparel fabric and it seems to be dying out...not here!! Its the largest selection of apparel fabrics Ive seen next to stores like JoAnns or some other major chain. So many exquisite styles and patterns. Got some really good fabrics on sale, too. The buttons are imported from various countries and are heavy and good quality. These are the kinds of buttons you find on Ralph Lauren blazers and the like--some over $10 apiece! The owner is very knowledgable and excitable, ready to help you with your projects. Definitely will be back when Im in town!

I went to Couture By Lk Design in a pinch. I had previously gone to another seamstress who promised me she could do the alteration. She held the dress for two weeks, then called me and told me she did not feel comfortable doing to alteration and even told me I needed to have a dress custom made. Luckily she referred me to Couture By Lk Design. I needed the dress within a month for a wedding. They were able to do the alteration in time (without having to make a custom dress) and for a fraction of what I had been quoted previously. I recommend this shop to everyone. In fact I have another dress I need to take to them :)

The best place for alterations. My whole family comes here. Lilya knows how clothes should fit and they always come out perfect. I love how confident I feel in my clothes after Lilya has altered them.

Liliya clearly knows quality fabric. Stores like this are so important to support. When I was shopping for my wedding dress fabric I was afraid I would have to make a trip up to New York just to shop for fine fabrics. When I found this store I was floored. A fine quality fabric shop in Richmond!! Not only that but Liliya helped me match 5 fabrics I was searching for in under two minutes. When choosing laces she brought me 3 with the exact qualifications I was looking for, all while giving the same level attention to all the other customers in the store. Oh and her button collection? Warms my heart. Her staff is top notch, her cutter is such a lovely person who is incredibly knowledgeable in choosing fabrics while Liliya is in fittings. Couture by Design took-in and hemmed a formal gown for me. The material was a silk mesh and difficult to work with but the results were seamless and I could not have been happier! I will definitely return to this business for all my future needs. Highly recommended.

This is the place to go for expert dress design, dress making or alterations. They created my daughter’s graduation dress and altered her prom formal. Excellent!

This shop is definitely higher end, so if you are looking for better quality fabrics than those that are sold at corporate stores this is for you. Theres so many fabrics so it is a little overwhelming at first, but Lilya was incredibly helpful with finding exactly what I needed.

Lilya is wonderful and fast - she adjusted my wedding gown, party dress and rehearsal dinner dress all at once and had them done in no time. She even helped me design the rehearsal dress using my mothers wedding gown. Best place in town :)

Lilya is truly amazing!Three weeks before my wedding reception I decided I wanted a whole new custom made outfit. I found Couture through a friend and called her up and explained my situation. Like many other custom tailors in Richmond, she could have told me my timeline was too short and she couldnt help me. Completely the opposite, she invited me in that same day for an appointment. Her store was very busy, but she took time to understand my vision and help me select the perfect fabric.Her fabrics and pieces are very reasonably priced and her work is flawless and so professional. Though I do not recommend waiting until the last minute as I did, she is very speedy.My custom top and pants were more than I could ever have imagined and I got so many compliments at my wedding reception and could not have felt more beautiful.Thank you, Liya, I will definitely be working with you again in the future!

I had my wedding dress altered at LK last year. She did a fantastic job, even for being a rush job. I had had a bad experience with a highly recommended tailor in Northern VA, and so was not sure who to go to. One of my clients recommended LK and I have to say it was worth every penny. She remade my dress to fit me perfectly, and was able to change and add details to customize an off-the-rack dress. I will definitely use their tailoring services again, and recommend them to all my clients!
