Spent a beautiful day with Max on the Capitol Trail. Max showed us areas outside the city we would have never found on our own. He shared with us knowledge of the history of Richmond along with present day attractions. We enjoyed a peaceful ride and a delicious lunch. He rode to our abilities and came prepared. He even repaired our flat tire.

New to town, and needed a spoke replaced that just broke on my ride. Dropped by Riverside and Max took me in and replaced the spoke while I waited. Professional, courteous, a wealth of knowledge, and just a really nice guy....impressed me so much that I decided to have him upgrade my wheels on one bike and plan to do the other as well. The reviews are accurate....Max is awesome and a pleasure to do business with. I see no reason to go any place else.

I had a private lesson today with Riverside Cycling and it was so fun! I was anxious as an adult to learn how to bike, but they made me so comfortable and safe. 10/10 would do it again and would recommend to others!Also, the staff were cool to hangout with :)

Amazing experience. Started with a hearty breakfast at the Huguenot Springs historic property. Reviewed gear and rigging. Confirmed the day’s route and camping plans...and off we went on a bluebird Fall day.I definitely underestimated what a luxury it would be having someone- whose job it was- do all the navigating. I was able to sit back, crank out the miles and take in all the amazing sights. The ride was mostly on paved roads, with 15 miles or so on gravel as the icing on the cake. An awesome 65 mile day capped by a great campfire, dinner, drinks and sound sleep at a state park I never knew existed.The next morning, we went our separate ways and I spent the next two days applying all of Max’s advice and tricks of the trade. Couldn’t have imagined a more perfect tour!! Thanks Max and VBR

He taught me how to ride a mountain bike, starting off slow and offering relevant tips as I got better. I called 3-5 other bike shops and they either didn’t answer or had bad customer service, so when I called Riverside Cycling, I was expecting the same. Luckily I was wrong!!! Max answered quickly & has excellent people skills!!! He answered all my questions, got my bike in right away and had it ready to go within a day or two. The communication was great - he texted me what needed to be done & the costs before working on it to make sure I knew what to expect. While working on it, he texted again to give me updates on the progress & when it was complete. Max remembered me when I arrived to pick up my bike - even with masks on!!! I was impressed by that because it was pouring rain when I dropped it off & we did not spend much time interacting. Such a small thing, but I know how hard it can be to remember every customer when you deal with so many, so it’s actually a BIG thing. This place is over 30 minutes away from my home, but worth the drive and I will absolutely be coming back for all my bike needs and share my positive experience with others. Thank you Max for being yourself - which is TrulyAwesome!!!

After an exhaustive bike search for my sons birthday a friend recommended Max. I was so excited Max responded quickly and had a bike in stock! He was very personable, professional and helpful! Cool new bike shop in Forest Hill area I recently discovered. I ride road and mountain bikes and have been to all the RVA area shops for service. Just had work done on bike at Riverside Cycling and was excellent.Took bike in on a Wednesday, they did a complete tune-up, installed some upgrades, and a did repair on derailleur. Had bike back by Friday AM. All other bike shops in area I called were saying 2-3 weeks! Would highly recommend this shop, small business and the two owners do all the service work, too.Also, they offer MTB classes for all age ranges. I ended up taking an individual lesson. Was great, got some personalized instruction on things I’ve been trying to get better at and definitely will be helping me take my riding up a level.

I got a brand new bike online that needed professional assembly out of the box. During the pandemic, it seemed every bike shop in town was booked for months out. Thankfully, the awesome folks at Riverside Cycling were able to squeeze me in on short notice. Zach, in particular, was an incredible help! He was very understanding about my lack of knowledge with bikes, answered all of the questions my partner had, adjusted everything very nicely, and invited us back very warmly for future visits. I will be recommending all of my friends and family to Riverside Cycling!!!

Max helped me out when nobody else cared about my needs! With the pools being closed, I had to get cycling again for exercise. The other local bike shops would not return my phone calls. I tried to buy a new bike online, but they sent me the wrong bike! I ended up bringing my old Trek mountain bike to Max for a makeover. With his help I was able to select different tires, handlebars, shifters, etc. To convert it to a comfortable ride for my much needed workouts. Throughout the process, Max communicated well, and was respectful of my time and far less than Lance Armstrong fitness level. Like a CONCIERGE BIKE SHOP!

The staff all seem very knowledgeable without being the least snobby. It feels like they are excited about you getting into biking, and genuinely want to help. I’m betting they would be great for experienced riders as well.

Max and his staff are friendly and knowledgeable, bike was in fantastic shape. They gave great advice about where to go. You can just tell that they love what they do and care about the outdoor community. I also appreciate that theyre taking COVID-19 precautions very seriously. Will definitely be back.

I didn’t have a bike and wanted to start riding, so I came to Max and he helped me build a bike using used parts. His ability to do that as well as fix any bike issue is amazing.After that, Max put together such a fun riding experience. He is easygoing, fun and very well organized. Everything was so well planned that all I had to do was enjoy our ride. Max has helped me out with nagging mechanical issues on my first road bike that other bike mechanics never seemed fully fix, all of which have definitely improved my experience on the bike, and helped me to better understand basic bike maintenance. Hey You! Do you have a bike? Well Max can fix it! He can fix it so good you will be like “Whoa I didn’t know this bike could even be fixed this good”. And that’s not all! When he’s done fixing it he’ll show you the best spots to ride it! Who even does that?! Amazon can’t even do that! Take that Bezos!

I first met Max in early 2013 when I moved to Nashville and we became great friends since then. The first thing that connected us was the our passion for biking. He is very knowledgeable about bikes and knows a lot of great places to ride. Max helped me buy 2 bikes and we rode together quite a lot. I was very enthusiastic when I learned he opened his bike shop. I would recommend him to everybody and I hope we can log more miles together.

Max has a great attitude as a mechanic, is a friendly guide and is the kind of character you want to share a bike ride with, long or short. Ive enjoyed a few mountain bike rides as well as city tours with Max and the conversation, ride pace, and local knowledge never leaves me wanting. Plus, I love riding with Max knowing that if something breaks or falls out of true on the ride, hes an experienced wrench so youre taken care of!

Max is fantastic. He did a great job fixing up my bike (including jerry rigging a rack onto the bike I brought that had no mechanism for attachment...). And he took me for a ride after I hadnt been biking and years and didnt remember how to use my gears. He was patient and helpful, adn the ride was really enjoyable. I have so much confidence in him that I have invested in him. If you need anything bike related, hes your guy!
