Attended an in store cooking class at Sur La Table at Stoney Point tonight. The theme was Bold Tuscan Flavors. It was a pleasure creating food w others and have it turn out so delicious. Chef Bills culinary expertise and demos and simply directions helped make it easy. He did a great job at keeping the atmosphere relaxed and the pace brisk. He taught us how to make potato gnocchi w basil pesto, arugula salad w lemon parmesan dressing, and how to sear & properly cut cooked strip streak and make a Chianti red wine sauce. Not to mention ending the night w mint chocolate chip gelato. Helpful hints to improve our kitchen skills were given as well.
Save your time and money and buy from another company. I ordered a bakeware set in the beginning of May 2020, saw it went on sale end of May, but still hadn’t received my set. The confirmation email said “It may take 7-10 days before your order ships and you receive a shipment confirmation.” Over a month later I sent in inquiry in June to find out the status and when it would be shipped. The response was basically worthless as if it was a generic automated email. I called end of June and was told I should receive by July 1; she saw that there was one reserved in my name. I asked why I wasn’t informed it was back ordered and the agent had no answer. Sure enough July came and went and still no bakeware set. I gave the benefit of the doubt because of the holiday and then called beginning of Aug and was told they do not know when I’d receive it, but in the system they still see there’s one available to my name. Today I realized I still hadn’t received it, so I went online only to find out my order was cancelled. Never once did I receive an email about the status changes. So, I call yet again to find out what happened to the order. I was then told it was cancelled due to that item no longer available, even though the earlier two calls I was told it was available, just waiting to receive it from the warehouse. The woman whom I spoke to today was very rude and had the attitude of “oh well sucks for you”. This was my first time dealing with this company and never again will I. The agent didn’t suggest another product or offer a coupon or have an alternative solution. She didnt try to please me as the customer; I could tell she could careless, even after her knowing how many times Ive called, lack of communication on their part and not receiving an item. I understand there’s only so much she can do, but having a basically having “screw you” attitude really just put it over the top for me. Had it not been a supposed gift, I would have cancelled a long time ago. I asked why I was never informed of the cancellation and she said I should have received an email back on Aug 14. Ive checked my email often; both inbox and junk, but I never received an email about the cancellation or status change; however, Ive received many promotion emails. If you want to be left in the unknown, not receive your item, want poor customer service and no communication then buy from this company, otherwise don’t think twice about Sur La Table. (My review is based on an online experience since there is not at storefront in my area.)
A wonderland for anyone needing, or wanting, quality products for home and kitchen. Staff couldn’t be nicer and more welcoming, and I highly recommend shopping here. I hear their cooking class rocks :)
My roommate and I are obsessed with the sur la table silicone cooking fork. We went today to buy more silicone cooking forks (because again, theyre great.) We were stoked to get an email telling us they were open again even though they always tail us through the store like were going to shove le creuset cookware into our t shirts and smuggle it out. Despite this, we are regular customers because my roommate is a professional cook and I bake a lot (less professionally.)Today at checkout, my roommate asked if there was still a discount for cooks as he used to be already registered and in the system for it. He was very casual about it and not at all demanding and totally happy to not receive it when he didnt in the end, but the conversation from there to the end of the transaction was horrifying. The woman who rung us up asked him where he works, he responded with a very well known upscale grocery chain that employs cooks, she repeated it as if shed never heard of it, asked incredulously if they even had cooks, passively attempted to look him up, and then told us since we were already getting an item discounted (their sale) we should just drop it. My roommate handled this super graciously as I stared on in mask-clad horror, wishing i had been there alone so I could have simply left. No silicone forks were worth that level of snobbery.Again, neither of us really cared about the discount. It was just an ask because hey, why not ask? We were perfectly happy not to get it, it was only the manner in which we were declined that was so totally disdain-filled that I left the store befuddled and confused, gripping my forks alone in the dead mall around me. Lets just say Im glad I stocked up on the forks, because I am straight up never going back here. That said, 2 stars for the forks.
This place is great for people that like to cook. I often go in just to browse but often something will catch my eye and Ill get it.The prices are reasonable with somethings seeming high and other things seeming a good value. While some items can definitely be found cheaper online, when it comes to a lot of kitchen and serving stuff, I like to be able to touch it and get a good feel for it, so I dont mind paying a little more for that ability. They also run some pretty good sales from time to time and their house-brand bake-ware has really impressed me.
We had a fabulous class with Brian. The class we took was called Amazing Taste of Tuscany. The food was delicious and the class was very informative! We went on a Monday which was nice and mellow. We are planning to bring some friends next time because we loved it so much! Thanks for an awesome class Brian!!! 👌
Took the date night:French stakehouse class and it was absolutely great (and delicious)! Our instructor Brian was great. Would definitely recommend!
I rate Sur La Table up for having affordable and interesting culinary classes that are always happening. Its not the *best* kitchen Ive ever cooked in but its a decent one and fun for the occasional afternoon practicing. Ive enjoyed the instructors. As to the store itself, Im often overwhelmed by its plethora of different supplies, many of which are conveniently assembled in one easy-to-visit location. Of course, many of the tools and gadgets are found more cheaply with other retailers (and in truth many of them are unnecessary) but its still nice to have such a selection.
Took a French Steakhouse cooking class. Was a great experience, the food was good, the instructor was knowledgable and the overall experience was great as Christmas gift.
Really enjoyed the knife skills class. Learned lots and it was a friendly atmosphere. It was clear they would sell you knives afterwards if you wanted, but no pressure or anything.
I love browsing the store for more kitchen gadgets! The staff is extremely friendly and I always walk out with something fun to further my culinary skills.
My go-to store for anything culinary. Great deals on knife sharpening.
Anything you might need in food preparation or food presentation you can find here. Staff is extremely helpful and very friendly.
Great cooking classes, which are worth the money. I can usually buy the cookware online for much less.
Whats not to love? I could literally walk around all day drooling over what I cant afford to buy.
Very helpful staff with out being annoying.
Everything youre looking for with every kitchen gadget you may need!
I can find anything I need here.
