I have worked in customer service for a majority of my adulthood, and never have I repeatedly told the same person that I “forgot” to call them. Communication is important, especially when you’re dealing with someone’s mode of transportation.My car was taken to the shop Sunday night, and inspected Monday morning. I was told the cluster needed replacement on Tuesday, and that it would be delivered to the shop and installed on Wednesday. Wednesday I got a call saying it was delayed another day until Thursday. No problem. Thursday I called there around noon to verify it would be ready and was told by Chris that the part was en route and would be installed by the end of the day.5pm comes along with no call so I called to check in. He tells me the supplier didn’t have the part anymore and that he “forgot” to call me because they were busy. So at this point I’m confused because I was told that the cluster was already ordered and on its way to the shop for installation, but then told that the supplier didn’t have it ready at all. This doesn’t make any sense.Friday I call at 5pm, after waiting the entire day for a follow up, and the first thing I hear is “sorry I forgot to call you,” once again. But they still don’t have the part and hopefully it comes in on Monday.So here is my thing. If the part is hard to get, I can understand that. What I can’t understand is not communicating effectively.Side note: I was given a 2010 Dodge Avenger loaner car on Thursday evening. It had no gas and I had to fill up before even making it home home, it shook/jolted every time I let off the accelerator, had cobwebs in the front windshield, and torn ceiling fabric that blocked half of the view of the rear view mirror. The seats were also disgusting and wreaked of cigarettes. Even if it’s “all you have,” how much time does it really take to wipe down and vacuum the inside of a car? 10 minutes?All in all, the car is fixed so I’m grateful for that, but y’all can do better. Until they learn how to follow up with their customers, I wouldn’t recommend this place.

My brakes failed on a Friday night. I got my vehicle towed to this shop. I left is over the weekend as they were closed. My vehicle had multiple things wrong with it. By Tuesday I was picking my vehicle up. It now runs like their was never anything wrong. Thank you !

We came here so many times over the course of a year I would say. We even spent our good money on donuts for them. They scammed us out of so much money. When they “fixed” our oil leak it continued to leak multiple other times. Every time we had a problem it would be a thousand dollar fix. It is partially our fault for trusting their friendly faces. But, if you’re thinking of going here, DONT! They scam you even though they seem nice.

I was helping a friend move from Northwest Pennsylvania to Georgetown South Carolina. While going through Richmond Virginia my transmission lost 3rd and 4th gears it was fried beyond repair. I found their shop through Google and limped over there screaming insecond gear. I had no appointment, I never knew of the shop prior to my online search. I explained my situation and the guys at the shop took care of me right away. They not only found me a new Transmission for my truck, but they had me back on the road the very next day before the close of the business day. They not only fixed my transmission, but they also fixed the OBD2 port which shorted out and caught fire (because the previous owner installed a second-rate car starter and used that ports power wire) they not only had me up and running in a day and a half, they also gave me a free loaner car to use while they fixed my Truck. I cannot praise these guys enough. The prices were Fair and considering my situation I could have very easily been stuck there for a week or more. 5 🌟 and then some. Fast, efficient, and took the time to explain my options and costs prior to any work being done. Very professional, two thumbs WAY UP!! I definitely recommend this shop. My truck is running better than ever before.

I had taken my 2011 Grandsport Corvette to other shops in the Williamsburg area. Either they weren’t comfortable working on it or had a 2-4 week wait time. I just needed my AC unit evaluated as it wasn’t working properly. I didn’t want to wait 2 weeks, (at the end of July and into August, with the heat index around 105) to drive my vette. Way too hot! I called on a Friday and was scheduled an appointment the following Tuesday, first thing in the morning. Was told that they provide loaner vehicles just incase, the repairs were going to take a day or so. This was important as I don’t live in Richmond VA.Chris was the customer service representative and he got me in with Tim, the mechanic. I always talk to any mechanic that works on my baby, just to see if they know what they are doing. I am not going to pay for someone to learn n my baby! Tim had an exceptional mechanical Knowledge, listened to my feedback, as I usually do my own repairs, and diagnosed the issue quickly. It turned out to be an easy fix. A little over an hour later, he was done. Great job! I would recommend VA Automotive and Tim to anyone.

I was recommended to go to this place to get my vehicle inspected which I did and it was rejected on two things and possibly could have been a third they told me what it was gave me the paperwork I got all that fixed then I take it back and its been over to two week limit so they had to inspect it again now when they inspect it theyve got more things that are wrong with it that passed with the first initial inspection I was very upset I would not recommend this place to anyone I know I got the things fixed and they all but said to me that I didnt which would make me a liar and I did not appreciate that whatsoever very horrible experience would not recommend going there

I have moved further and further away but I always find myself back there .I trust nobody else as much with my vehicles, they are very professional and they do an amazing job taking care of my vehicles, so that Im never without transportation. Jeff Davis is littered with mechanic shops and car dealerships. Virginia Automotive is one of the most expensive places to get your car serviced in the area. Its not a state of the art facility. Its just like every other worn down shop in the area, but they sport a NAPA banner and they do a heck of a lot of marketing.Unlike many of the automotive service places scattered up and down Jeff Davis, they charge a premium on parts and they dont allow you to bring your own parts like many of the other Service centers. So, buy your own part and go to any of the other automotive locations found on Jeff Davis.Ive tried them on multiple occasions and I have always been disappointed. Youll never get a deal here. If it looks too good to be true, it is (ex: cheap parts, etc).

Ed Shelton and his staff are excellent. I take my care here and nowhere else. The waiting room is awesome, free wifi! I trust them with my car and refer all friends and family here.

My tech person Chris was very friendly, helped me get financed for the job to be done since I didnt have all the up front money for the job, you only pay for the service you asked to have done. Everything is explained clearly to you beforehand before any work/service is done. My car was ready when they said.

I am not originally from this area and did not know where to go when my car recently broke down while I was driving to work on 95. As horrible as you can imagine that was, through Triple A I was able to quickly arrange a tow and they recommended Virginia Automotive Service to repair my vehicle. I have found the staff to always be very professional, extremely courteous, knowledgeable, thorough and competent. As a matter of fact, I have to chosen to use them going forward for all of my automotive needs. They understand the importance of having repairs done quickly and returning my vehicle as soon as possible. I actually decided to take my 2nd car there immediately after pickling up the car that broke down to ensure it would be road ready for my daughter who is getting her license in October. I trust them wholeheartedly and while everyone hates to spend money, my money has been well spent at this shop. I feel safe knowing that my daughter will be driving a car that was certified by them as road ready.

Im always more than happy with the service at Virginia Automotive. They have two convenient locations, which is very important to me. Im a REALTOR® and spend most of my time in the car. If I dont have my car, I dont have my business! When I do have to leave my car at one of their shops, they provide a loaner car for me to use . I had an engine replaced in my truck here. I was given an out the door price before the work began. I know for a fact that the job required extra parts and work. Ed never asked for additional money. Everyone I dealt with was very nice and Im very satisfied with the work. Highly recommended.

I took my vehicle here for annual safety inspection. After all was said and done, it needed some work. I use my SUV to haul a trailer halfway across the country so I’m glad they actually looked at my vehicle instead of just passing it through. It rides great and the little vibration (whatever it was) is gone! The staff were pleasant and work was timely.

I don’t recommend this place to anyone Brian put the alternator on my car and he put it on wrong and broke the alternator! They kept my car for a week just to tell me they couldn’t find the problem. They will recommend things u don’t need just to try to get more money. Oh and after a week they told me to just go to a dealership to get it looked at because they couldn’t find the problem they don’t know how to work on Volkswagen don’t go here

I had the starter go out in my pickup, brought it to them after being referred by AAA.The staff seemed nice. They never gave me a written estimate on anything. I was quoted over the phone for the starter then told a completely different price once there before. Then I asked for a quote on some other repairs I was in need of and the decided to go ahead and do some of them without giving me any prices until after they were done and without my authorization. They gave me a loaner car that had the Service Engine light on with NO gas in it and the engine smokes after driving a few miles. I will NOT be going here again and filed a complaint with AAA.

I had a 12 month warranty and it seems to me that I was being taken advantage of. 3500 for a new motor and the original had roughly 159,000 and the vehicle is an 2004.

Came in for a car inspection and was done in 18 min. That’s great time to me.

Please dont go there, you will save time and specially your money. This was my first time going to that shop, the experience was not that pleasant at all. I made my appointment the day before going in there because I knew that the shop was going to be busy. It was the day before New Years, so I was expecting some delays. I waited for 2 in half hours and I knew that was going to be long wait but not that long. But Im mad about that place, a guy came In 15 after without having an appointment and he was the first one getting his inspection done. That place is bad organized and they are trying to rip you off. My car didnt passed the inspection because they told me that I have the wrong side tires. The next day, I went to a Tire place and they told that my tire were the right ones, the guy who check my tires, he couldnt understand why my inspection didnt pass. The last straw, the owner called me because He wanted to apologize, I explained everything to him but he seemed like he was not caring how bad disorganized his place is. How his employees are trying to rip the clients off. Please dont go there

Virginia Automotive is wonderful!!!!!! I went to two other shops and nobody could determine the problem with my truck!! They diagnosed it quickly, and had it fixed the same day! The customer service was excellent and they really cared about me.... the whole experience was awesome!!

The worst!! Be careful w/ this car shop. Make sure you get a second opinion before accepting their offer. They may greet you w/ smiling faces but it’s only a smile for coverup to pocket extra money. If your first instinct says don’t go w/ it than don’t go w/ it.

This is a great place. They care about their customers. I took my vehicle in to get it inspected and they also let you know about other things that you need to look out for. That let you know about other problems before it gets to bad. I love this place, the service and their employees.

Egregiously overpriced. Not only did they want to overcharge but they neglected to find other issues. Their attitudes were generally patronizing and did not inspire confidence in their honesty. This was after being a repeat customer for two years. They will use the state inspection requirement to pressure you into accepting a bad price, so just avoid them in the first place.

Got an oil change done and managed to squeeze in a state inspection. Was told what things needed to be taken care of on my Chevy Silverado 2500 . Great service.

I advise strong caution in regards to this shops inflated pricing. I was quoted 1,600.00 for replacing a Carburetor on a 1975 model car, And 1,300.00 for rebuilding the stock carburetor. I researched this pricing and no other shops in the Richmond area even came close to this outrageous price. I took my car to another shop they rebuilt my carburetor for 170.00 and I was back on the road with no problems. I also had to pay an 85.00 Diagnostic fee to get my car back, and all they did was open my hood outside of the bay took off air cleaner and started the car. Do not let this happen to you! I will never go back there!

This place SUCKS! I paid for an alignment and two new front tires. Guess what?? I need a new set of tires again! All because these folks cant align a vehicle. Very sorry for doing people like that and charging them. Hope this improves business!!

Awesome auto repair shop! The receptionist was extremely polite and listened to all my concerns and they gave me an honest estimate . They didnt push me to have unnecessary work on my vehicle either. The most honest repair shop Ive ever been to. Ill never go anywhere else!

I was able to take my car there to have it looked at before purchasing it from an independent dealer the 19th. I was given accurate information as to what needed to be replaced. I was pleased with their service from the beginning of the telephone call until I walked out the door.

Brought vehicle in for state inspection. Car sat for a while. So used wipers with fluid to clean windshield. After inspection fail due to a 2 rip on a wiper blade. Funny how it was not there before inspection. Also they look at things not on inspection list. So now my car has a ticking noise. As a veteran I do not recommend this place. If you bring your vehicle in they should not touch things they were not given permission to touch. No Windows to view vehicle so you cannot see what is going on. Also witnessed owner talk trash about a customer bringing in a vehicle before he entered office door. This is just my experience but as a 25 year service tech in Hvac who deals with people everyday. This is not what you do to a first time customer

Weird atmosphere whenever Im there,the entire staff seems odd to me.I had my belongings in the rear of my car,on the last couple of visits and seemed like someone went through my belongings.A few of the workers were really inappropriate to me starring at me,in a weird way,I felt really uncomfortable couldnt wait to get out of there.I waited outside in the cold and snow until my car was ready. Unprofessional all the way!

The worst automotive service i have ever encountered. I recently reported them to the better business bureau. Bad financing options horrible customer service. The owner Ed is despicable as an owner. He is not honest to his word and his professionalism is a joke compared to other business services.

Great job. They bailed me out of problem in the middle of a road trip. Dealer said they needed two days to get the part. These guys did the whole job in two hours!

Its an ok repair station. I do give them credit for trying to work with everyones budget. The bad thing is that the prices seem to always have you needing the help for your budget. I used to go here often but after my vehicle was broken into and nothing was even offered for a discount, I no longer have my vehicles worked on here. When my car was broken into there was nothing but an apology and here is what you owe. My continued experience with funny pricing and car theft leaves a bad taste.

The reason for this review is I took my girlfriends car to this service center for state inspection an they kept failing it for the headlights needing to be adjusted. So I asked to see the machine an where it was out of adjustment. Well for starters the machine looked totally out of date an I asked to see when the machine was last Calibrated. An the reply I received was come on dude were state police. Umm no your a va state inspector not a state police. An second the machine they were using has a aluminum channel that is supposed to be mounted to the floor so the machine is aimed start towards the headlight as it could be not just placed anywhere on the floor.Would not take my car here for state inspection if your not trying to get scammed out of 30 for a headlight adjustment.
