Easy parking in the lot, clean and organized store. Found my fave buckwheat noodles and other random stuff, which is great. Focus is of course Asian but mainly Japanese so if you are looking for less mainstream items like kansui (lye water) or custard powder youll need to look elsewhere. Good spot, though. Recommended at least to look!

I bought a frying pan for 50$ and after I removed the sticker on the bottom of the pan, I noticed that it was rusted (which is extremely unhealthy) I took it back and the manager said she was sorry and couldnt exchange it. After a minute I realized she doesnt actually care, and Im wasting my time, I told her to keep the pan, as its simply trash, and walked out.Glad I knew that cooking on rusty pans is very unhealthy. Or else I would have been paying medical bills on top of losing 50$. DONT NOT BUY THEIR PANS. THEY ARE USED AND THEY RUST.

I love Uwajimaya. This one is smaller than the one in china town/Seattle however it has just about all of the same offerings. They have oasis tea located inside so u can order bubble tea if u want while shopping. They have a small baked goods type area next to the hot deli and produce. On the opposite end there are Korean and Japanese beauty products, housewares and more as well as fresh/live seafood and meat. In the middle you will find frozen foods and things of that nature. My oldest daughter is studying Chinese and is very interested in Chinese, Japanese and Korean culture. I love to bring her random things home to try. The prices are on the high end but this place is a lot of fun and you will find what you need for sure.

Not too busy for the staff to assist you but busy enough to have a medium line at the deli! We went to secure our holiday roasted duck. When it was my turn the associate took my request and came back five minutes later to tell me that it would be ready in fifteen minutes, would I like to wait? R U kidding me!! Fifteen minutes for a fresh, hot, juicy, out of the oven duck? YES PLEASE!!!I went and got some vegetables and aloe drink and then my duck was ready to go home with me. After all, he is the guest of honor!!They treated me like I was the only person in the store, provided personalized service. This is why I go to this store for my Asian specialties.

I have been going to the Uwajimaya in Seattle since 2015 when I worked at the apartment complex on top of it. I even drove to Seattle during the beginning stages of the Covid 19 outbreak even though I don’t live there anymore to give business to the small restaurants when nobody else did. Today I tried the Uwajimaya in Renton for the first time and was asked to leave because I did not have a face mask. I then pointed out several customers also not wearing a mask and asked why they where not asked to leave. The employee said they where asking everyone who is not wearing a mask to leave. So I said why don’t you ask him to leave as there was a person standing right next to her without a face mask. She said nothing, I left and watched several customers leaving the store with groceries from the parking lot with no mask. None of them where white and that’s the only difference that I could see. Don’t wast your time with this regressive store it does not represent the respect of the Uwajimaya family like there Seattle location continues to do. It’s a disgrace to see that name drug in the dirt by the same mind set of the people that Uwajimaya stood against so long ago. I will not return to this location and am very disappointed to see racist behavior amidst the recent events in this nation from a Uwajimaya employee who should know better.

Good selection of foods, but some expiration dates have been questionable, so I always double check those. I do wish the cashiers were courteous to all customers, not just the ones that speak their language. A simple hello and a smile would make a shopping experience muh more enjoyable for those who may be visiting for the first time or not regulars. I usually dont get a response to my greeting to them, even though they are pleasant and chatty with the regular checking out before me...

I’m only writing this review about the poké bowls in their fish department. I had three places in Seattle that I went to for poké when I lived there. This was my favorite of the three. The spicy tuna poké over rice, with a generous shake of furikake could not be beat! I sure do miss eating there, and I will definitely be there as soon as I get back to Seattle.

We went in for a sushi dinner, but it was late & there was only 1 cucumber roll, a mixed bowl & some pre-made sushi rice left in the whole section. We went over to the meat & seafood department where we found salmon, mackerel, shrimp, albacore, blue fin & yellow fin tuna prepped for sashimi. It wasnt the quick and easy meal we were looking for after a long day of hard work, but it was delicious. Only 4/5 stars cuz they close too early.

Its so clean and the produce always looks super fresh! Sometimes I resort to other grocery stores like fred meyers and Safeway simply because theyre closer and open longer. But when I can I go to Uwajimaya for my shopping needs, especially when I want to cook Asian foods like teriyaki, stir fry, ramen, etc. Theyve got almost everything youd need. Though since it is a Japanese store, Chinese and Korean ingredients are a smidge harder to find. They have some but not a large variety. If I need more Korean ingredients, Id likely have to go to H mart or some other Asian market, etc.
