I have been a Lee Valley customer for some years, buying primarily woodworking tools, with an occasional kitchen or gift item. The quality and customer service are exceptional. Its premium stuff for a premium price. For mid-quality stuff at a lower price, I go elsewhere. For tools that need to be first rate, that I know Ill keep, I go to Lee Valley.

I ordered a Veritas Twin Screw Vise from Lee Valley.  I ordered it on a Saturday and Monday at work I was warned I might be laid off.  I called in to Lee Valley to cancel my order and was informed that it had already shipped but that the best way to handle the return would just be to refuse the shipment and it would go back to them and they would return my money.  I did just that and then they never credited me my money.  So far the vise has been back in their warehouse for nearly 6 weeks (confirmed by tracking and by a customer support email) but no money.  I have emailed multiple times with no response and now when I try calling in the phone system is down and will not even record a message... I finally had to refute the charge on my credit card.  I understand these are tough circumstances in the time of Covid, but I think we need to know which businesses are navigating it well and which are not.  Lee Valley unfortunately is not.

Great selection of tools. Super quality. I only wish they would let me order online for Reno pickup! I will be back many times.

Great selection of Festool and Veritas tools on hand, as well as other small and unique items in their storefront. If I go back with the intention of buying planes or spokeshaves, I will definitely try them out on the available hardwood in the shop before I purchase them.
