A wide selection in all the colors: solids, tone on tone, and prints. Well organized and appealing. I had plenty of time to make my selections without a salesperson hovering, but help was available if I wanted it.

So friendly and knowledgeable, I thought my machine was broken and Brian worked his magic, had it fixed in no time!! Lori at the front seemed to know everyone and exceptional quality service. It felt like home and smelled nice too. Made me want to take a class too. Thank you for saving our ninja turtle costumes!!

The staff is very friendly & well educated in what they sell. I was asked what I needed, what I sew, and I was shown the appropriate machine. There was no sales pressure to get me to buy more than I needed, but I ended up with a more expensive model because I asked about it and sold myself on it. Im very pleased. I love that they offer free classes in how to use your new machine.

This is a nice shop. Most of the people that work there are very nice.They have great fabrics. I’m happy to have this store in Reno.If you want to learn how to quit this is a great place to start. I have taken lessons here and have learned a lot from them.

Everyone is so very helpful. Best selection of batik fabrics anywhere. I bought a sewing machine here and had another repaired. I was very happy with both transactions. My only complaint is the heavy sweet air fragrance they use. I dont care for it and it always takes me a while to get used to it when I go in. But then everyone else probably loves it.....

I have been going to Sierra Sewing for 20 years. The service is wonderful and they make you feel at home. They have a great selection of fabrics and notions. I have bought several sewing machines there too. I always take my machines to be serviced and the turn around time is quick.

Having bought both a sewing machine and a vacuum with their knowledgable staff made my experiences very enjoyable. No heavy sales pitches but a lot of questions about what I would use them for and how often. Then a detailed discussion and price comparisons made my decisions easy. I have also spent a lot of time getting materials needed for my projects. I love the variety of cloth, threads and other supplies.

Fabric is fabulous and the Kangaroo Cabinets do not come with a kangaroo...lol.

I bought my Pfaff Icon here because Lauri was upfront and wasnt afraid to tell me her opinions. Ive used my machine every day since I bought it. After about 6 months I was starting to have issues, but it was right in the middle of the covid shut down. I called and Lauri she told me not to worry my warranty will be good no matter what.Well I was able to get my Icon in to the shop in February. Because I was under warranty they fast tracked my service. Parts were replaced but that wasnt solving my issues. Long story short, Jared and Lauri called Pfaff and explained my situation and I received a new machine!! The most important thing when you purchase such an expensive machine is the folks you are doing business with. I am so grateful that Sierra Sewing had my back. I would not hesitate to buy any future machines here. Not only will they do whats right, the store itself is well stocked.

It was such a wonderful experience. They were so helpful. I came back 3 times before I made a decision and not once did they push me to make a purchase. I had a very expensive machine that never really worked, sewing and embroidery. They knew it wasn’t running and still took it in as a trade-in. VERY pleasant staff!!!!

I took my older sewing machine in for a tune up prior to gifting it to my daughter-in-law. They were touched by the gesture and did the maintenance. I was very impressed by the selection of fabric and notions. The staff was very helpful when I asked about technical details of some of the display quilts. They also informed me of the sewing classes that covered what I was asking about. When I picked up the machine, the service quote was the price charged, no surprises. Since that visit, I have bought my quilting fabric from them due to the variety and quality of the fabric, and the positive personalities working there. The fabric selection supports more modern design concepts and classics.

Great place. Service was excellent. They shared their knowledge of vacuum cleaners and have their own repair center in the store.I had such a great experience buying my vacuum that when searching for a new sewing machine I immediately went back to Sierra Sewing and Vacuum. I inherited a vintage sewing machine from my grandma. Since it had been sitting for quite a few years, I wanted to get it properly serviced. Sierra Sewing was excellent. Fast turn around (less than a week), social distancing compliant, friendly employees, and the machine hums right along now. I will definitely give them my business again in the future.

The Salvation Army does not accept working and non-working sewing machines. Shame.So I call around and found this gem. I spoke with Sue, she was helpful and polite in answering my question.They accept old sewing machines that need service, repair it, and donate to organizations that benefit from the machines!While I was there, I browsed the shop. They have a extensive inventory of sewing machines, threads, thing-a-ma-bobs, what-cha-ma-call-its, vacuums, and high quality fabric for quillters. I left inspired as if I could sew a whole quilt and then some. Then I remembered, youre a beginner. Easy there! 😅

My Bernina sewing machine was skipping stitches and the tension was off. So I took it into my local sewing store. Sierra Sewing has an on-site repair shop. My machine was cleaned and fixed and returned to me within the week. It sews wonderfully and I am very pleased that I have a local store that I can trust with all my sewing needs.

I recently took up sewing (making masks.) Everyone is so helpful and nice. They stayed late so I could pick up a sewing machine after hours. The fabric selection is amazing. It’s my new favorite store!

Nice place with good selection of fabrics and machines and accessories. Friendly staff too. The only reason for less than perfect stars is the owner was insistent that he did not have anything (presser foot) that would fit my machine. Strange because it seemed like he wanted to know more than me rather than help me find something. Ive been sewing for 45 years, not a newbie! So I twisted his arm to let me buy a foot and guess what? It fits!Yes I would go back but hopefully he has more of a “can do” attitude.

The second you walk in the door you are greeted by name. All of the employees are pleasant and happy to help. It is a very cheery environment. Always a pleasure for me to shop there. Just an overall awesome experience in every way.

I like so many others I pulled out my sewing machine for making masks. My machine was barely sewing stitches, I called to see if they could look at it and time it up. I dropped it off at 5:30 pm on Monday and told 3-5 days. Thursday morning I was called and it ready to picked up. My 30 year old machine is sewing like it did when it was new. The price was reasonable and I could not be happier with the work that was done. I highly recommend Sierra Sewing for all your sewing needs!

This is a lovely store with a wonderful variety of fabric, machines, and supplies. It offers great classes. The owners, Linda and son Jared, are strong supporters of our local sewing community, including our Truckee Meadows Quilters guild. My favorite place! I began sewing a year ago and the ladies at the store have made the journey so much fun. My classes have been with Cindy Rand and I couldnt be happier. I am afraid of taking a class with anyone else because she is so endearing. I bought my sewing machine from her, I took my first learning to quilt class with her, have taken two other Quilting classes with her and I just cant seem to stop! Sierra sewing has opened up my world and it is wonderful to discover sewing/quilting and new friends.

Superb customer service . I called this am ( april 16th ) to inquire about a basic sewing machine. ( for making masks of course) The phone was answered promptly, different options explained according to my budget and sewing needs . I purchased a machine and my husband picked it up 20 minutes later. They brought it to the car, put it in the trunk- all staff wearing gloves and masks . The machine I purchased was on sale at a very good price. I hope to actually get to visit in person someday .

I purchased a Babylock Regalia long arm quilting machine in August 2019. The new machine successfully quilted two and one-half quilts before the motor froze up from thread intake to the inside of the machine. Sierra Sewing came and picked up the machine at my cost, repaired it at my cost. When the machine was returned it didn’t work because of a computer problem, so they took the machine again. I requested my money back and they refused. When they bought the machine back I finished the one-half of the quilt that had not been completed. The machine skipped one inch in width spots and then the thread broke twice and now Sierra Seeing refuses to service it. I would never recommend that anyone buy from this company and it is clear they sell machines that do no work as they should and then they refuse to take care of the problem and could care less about the consumer. They are are deceptive in their sales. You better beware if you chose to buy from this company.

I absolutely love the family feel of Sierra Sewing...i have bought and brought several machines to them. The last time, they could have taken me to the cleaners. I brought 2 machines in that i thought i broke. They could have charged me an arm and a leg but they brought the repair man to look at it and i had mixed the bobbins. No charge..and he gave me an easy hint on how to keep it straight.. love their honesty and integrity

Fixed up my vintage sewing machine for $99, which is very reasonable. They were able to service it out of its cabinet even with it having a knee pedal and uneven feet. Staff were courteous and attentive, and they were nice on the phone. Helped me get the machine in and out of the car. The fabric here is expensive, but I recognized a lot of designer brands such as Robert Kaufman that you cant get elsewhere in town.

When I started sewing a few years ago, I bought my first machine from Sierra Sewing. The knowledgeable staff, instructors, and varied course offerings provide instruction and support at every level of sewing experience! Ive learned so much and had such an amazing time! The selection is unparalleled - everything you need to get you sewing and to keep you creating!

If I could give zero stars, I would. Brought my shark vacuum in to be fixed and they convinced us that it was not fixable. Which I thought was absolutely not true. In hindsight, they clearly just wanted a sale and our already expensive former vacuum should have been able to be fixed, but I digress. SO, we bought a $400 vacuum with the $100 warranty — with tax we spent well over $500... and AFTER we wrapped up the purchase and our card was charged they stated that there were no returns or exchanges. It was in a very “Oh by the way” manner. Talk about a bait and switch. We used the vacuum twice; and it stopped working. I brought the vacuum back to see if they could help me with it, and the lady who sold it to us very clumsily opened the vacuum also dinging and bending the area that needed to be opened... and said “Oh, it’s the pine needles from your Christmas tree!” I asked if they could unclog it real quick and she stated that they wouldn’t clean the vacuum out for us unless we used our free cleaning that came with our warranty.... And that it would take A WEEK. They said, to go to Home Depot to buy a special “tool” to get the needles out. I’m sorry, I have to buy more junk to help unclog this broken vacuum? The vacuum we wanted, never clogs as we experienced with our older model. Bought the tool and it did nothing, vacuum was still not useable. Seriously? I worked in customer service and retail for years, if someone brought in a new machine that broke after two weeks AND they purchased the warranty? I’d fix it right away, or at least give a reasonable turn around time... AND I wouldn’t make them use the free cleaning... THAT IS REAL CUSTOMER SERVICE... I washed my hands of these people and went to Bed Bath and Beyond to buy a different vacuum, not that I had the money for it. And you know what they did? They took the vacuum and bags we bought and gave us store credit for it because they felt so badly about how we were mistreated by Sierra Vac and Sew. NEVER BUY A VACUUM FROM THESE PEOPLE, they clearly only care about their commission.

Sierra Sewing Reno is the only store that services my sewing machines. And, is also the store I shop for most of my quilting fabric and other quilting needs.

I paid $16 for a general purpose foot and they dont offer refunds even with a receipt. The staff at the counter seemed friendly though.In response to below: I didnt give my name when I bought the foot. No one asked for it either, so Im not sure what you mean by in our system. Also, I dont even necessarily want to return the item. Just stating what it cost. My receipt does say you dont accept returns, which is helpful for people to know! :) Thank you for reaching out to me though!

I have been going to Sierra Sewing for sewing machine purchases maintenance and repair, fabrics, accessories, advice and classes for 25 years; by far they are the best in northern Nevada.

This is a wonderful store! I went in searching for a new vacuum as my Dyson is terrible. They carry Miele brand vacuums and it is absolutely wonderful compared to my Dyson. The staff was very friendly and helped me to find what would work best for me, not just try to sell me something more than I needed. I didnt look around much more but they have a very large fabric and sewing machine selection as well. I will definitely recommend this store to my friends and highly recommend to all others as well! Everyone at Sierra sewing is very helpful and welcoming. I purchased my embroidery machine there and they bundled everything up for me and offered a great price. Every time I go there with my machine they gladly help me get the machine out of my car. I had knee surgery and I have a hard time lifting the machine so this make such a difference for me. When I purchased my machine I got several embroidery patterns but they all came on CDs and I don’t own a computer that has a CD reader on it (who does anymore really). I really wanted to get working on my machine as soon as possible and they downloaded my files onto a USB for me. They always go above and beyond. I highly recommend Sierra Sewing. They also have a great fabric selection and have amazing classes!

Being a new face, gets you zero attention, I was shocked not to get a hello when I walked in, considering the cashier was four feet away from me! chit chatting is more important then customer service. Ive never walked into a sewing store that was so clique-ish.

Very bad Customer Service over the phone at least. Bought a machine on line that was damaged in shipping works fine. Didnt even see what I had and wanted to charge me $65.00 to look for less then 5 minutes for a figure of cost. Tried to explain that they didnt even have to plug it in. Not the first time Ive call and got a response like this. Be aware very aware!! Maybe money hungry!!!
