My son an me drove 1.5 hours to check out the store. I was impressed with such a large catalogue of records. We did not find what we were looking, then in our way out we met the store owner, he asked what we were looking and we got our records right away, but not only that, he gave us a tour of the whole store and also sat down for about half an hour to talk about his personal and business stories at store. He is an amazing man. Will come back for sure!

Ive been to over 50 records stores worldwide, Ive never paid 26$ for a VG- very common second hand record (Styx -Cornerstone). It should be at most most 12-15$. Anyways, Ive got back 2 days later I bought it, and asked for a return. I couldnt find my receipt and they didnt accept. Instead, they issued me a store credit. Once I was buying another record (25$ new, sealed Led Zeppelin - IV), the owner made a new rule in front of me and said I cant buy new records with that store credit. I have to buy a second hand one so get stiffed. I got the Styx record back and I left. PLEASE DONT GO THIS PLACE. A RECORD STORE SHOULD GIVE YOU A JOY, NOT MAKE YOU UPSET!A side note, the store owner claimed that he is in record business for 30 years. Im not even 30 years old and collecting records for 7-8 years, and can easily say this pricing is not reasonable. Id like to ask him if he feels at ease while selling these records at these prices.

This place is not for the newer record collector because their pricing here is at the high end and geared to have you spend a minimum 20 no matter what the record is. And the let you know this as soon as you walk in the door. You need to know what your prices are and conditions before you get ripped off.The younger girl who works here sometimes has a more fairer prices. Just dont be surprised if you typical 5 dollar lp is 25 bucks here. I got super rare limited run printings here for about half the price I would have gotten anywhere else, you just have to do your homework.

Any 5 star reviews have to be fakeThe owner does not wear a mask during covid. Selection is fantastic but nothing is priced, once you take it to the counter you will realize you are being completely ripped off. Owner says that most records are $15-30 which is reasonable for collectable things, not the Incredible String Band album which he had 4 copies of. For reference, he priced it at $26, the discogs median for the same pressing is $9. I ended up getting two records and walked out feeling awful about overpaying. Expensive mistake, will never come back

Wow. This place is so cool. There are so many records in every genre. Where does this guy find all these records? Everything in the front is $15+, but he has a section in the back where the records are all $5. The records here tend to be a bit cleaner than what youd find for less money at Rasputin or Amoeba. And the selection is simply unmatched. The owner gave us a neat little tour as well. Ill definitely be back.

My review echoes what others have said. This is an awesome record store with a huge selection, kind owners, shop dogs, and a turntable to test your records on. I could spend many hours in here. But its ridiculously expensive. The owners seem to cross-check records with prices on eBay or Discogs and charge that. I ended up paying $40 for two VG+ records that I definitely could have gotten cheaper elsewhere.

Either the old owner died or everyone rating it 5-Star must have walked into the WRONG store. If youve ever been inside more than 5 minutes you know the only help you get from owners is a point out to which room each Genre is in.NO PRICES ON ANY RECORD, theyll match the highest price on ebay.Sure they can ask for a little more seeing that they have the product in store. But asking for over 40 when i can get same condition online and have it shipped to me for under $10, I can risk buying 3 broken records online and still come out even.I understand if you buy one record a year, 40 or 50 wont kill you, but for serious buyers....LOOK elsewhere

I am sure that this is pretty much the way most people feel about this place after a single visit:The good: One of the best selections of vinyl anywhere. The Annex in the back has a very good selection, all for $5 (all sales final) and the people are cool to deal with. The BAD: The main front shop with the main inventory: There are no prices on any records. Mike, the scummy, no-personality guy who usually runs the main shop, determines the prices of each selection; right in front of you, while you patiently wait, by going online, apparently checking various sites to determine how much he can rip you off; record by record. He usually doesnt even look at the disc before making his pronouncement on what you will pay. I dont know what sites he uses but its guaranteed that you will pay much more than anywhere else.I now go there maybe once a year, hoping that something has changed there; so far it hasnt. The owner, Gary, is slightly better to deal with but creepy Mike is your main contact. Garys wife is actually very nice when shes there but she defers to Mike and Gary when it comes to the vinyl. Its the most depressing, sometimes condescending experience. I dont like to spend money where I dont feel just slightly appreciated nor where I feel ripped off. This, sadly, is one of the very few businesses, of any type. anywhere, in which I feel this way. Its too bad, because, if they were at all friendly and they charged reasonable prices, they could move their immense inventory and more collectors may actually support the place. What a concept! So many other places to get good vinyl in the Bay Area. Outside of browsing their Annex, I would advise to simply avoid this place.

I went here yesterday for my first time since I got into vinyl collecting recently. The place has many records but very weak selection of hip hop rap for having some many thousands of records. When I find a couple records to buy the guy Mike who looks creepy af doesn’t even check the quality really til I mention it and then he starts looking at online at prices with none of the prices marked on the record before hand. First he tries to use eBay to find prices but I mention to him many sellers sell records way over priced on there. He gave me fair prices using discogs and me using the discogs app on my phone as well. I was going to just walk out because of how he started off at first just trying to rip me off. I might go there again but how it’s ran is not very well. Maybe if they sold records with a better pricing system in place they would sell more records.

Review №34

Agree with other post that this place could be so great. There are some decent finds for $5 in the back - although I caution that many of these titles can be found elsewhere for even less. The front main store is disappointing. They look up the records at the register to charge you top dollar. The owner bragged about picking up the vinyl for next to nothing and claims to have shipping containers full. I suspect if people are smart that he will always have shipping containers full the way he does business. I dont blame him for being a capitalist however there are so many better stores in the Bay Area that care about collectors and music lovers and that are not trying to rip you off on every purchase. If you really want a record or two that they have or find one in pristine condition then maybe this store is worth it and it can be fun to look around - I am not giving one star for these reasons. I made the mistake on my first few visits of not knowing the values and spent a bunch of $$ as someone just getting back into vinyl. When I knew the values I went back for a record I really wanted that they had 3 copies. The owner wanted $30 for the record but I knew it was worth $15. I offered $25 willing to pay a little more for the convenience and trying not to low ball. The owner declined and this was after I had spent hundreds in his store the previous month. I may go back to check out the $5 store. Last, anything that is really rare, like 90s wax, is not to be found. They sell it online.

I liked the thought of looking through a million records initially as I walked by this place. I had to stop in. I was greeted pleasantly and given a tour by a woman and some dogs. After browsing a few minutes I noticed there were no price tags. When I found out about the 15 dollar minimum my mind short circuited for a moment. Did I hear it right? I did, I couldnt do it, I had to leave. I may be back but I dont know.

Enormous selection. Over a million records! Though they have a smaller store in the back of $5 records to accommodate the less monetarily fortunate, its an enormous letdown that all records in store are $15+ nothing lower. Im sure you could probably get a lower price if you purchase a bulk of records but I wasnt gonna stick around to find out. I had a 20 in my pocket and (with their vast selection) I expected to walk out with a stack of wax from a dollar bin, I instead walked out with empty arms and an empty heart. If you got money to blow, come on over...

Wish I could give zero stars. The worst record store, no, the worst store I have ever been. The old man owner is the rudest person I have into in a long time. Had to step over two dogs, one a German Shepherd to get in. The German Shepherd growled at my daughter when she squatted down to look through a box. The owner did not apologize and locked the dog in another roon. The records are spread haphazardly across many dilapidated rooms, one with no lights. The records are not priced. When I asked I was told most are between $15 and $30. No help. Finally my daughter found a record she thought I would like from the box she was looking through. I asked the price. The old man said that one is for the dollar sale. I said GREAT! He then said You cannot buy it because the dollar sale is not happening now. I said okay, how much is is it now? He said you cannot buy anything from that box. I then said...well, the box should be marked.I then asked if they have any classical. He said yes, in the other building out back. I said Another building in the back? Okay. We then went out the back door through their junk yard in the back to the other building. Well.....It was CLOSED. The jerk watched us walk out there and did not say a word.Needless to say, we walked around the building as fast as possible and got the heck out of there. This place deserves to be closed down. Dont shop there!

Do not waste time here. They did have a lot of records, but most good ones are already gone and many junks are left. But more importantly, nothing is price labeled here, after you spend 2 hours here finding two records you like, they will look up price on internet and charge you $30 for an average $12 record. A nightmare for collectors. They would say everting is above $15 here, even for regular dollar records.

Heres the straight facts on this place:• Giganto Selection! Were talking mountains of vinyl. Entire first floor of this old, musty house ist just packed to the gills. Then theres even more upstairs, and an entire separate $5 store out back thats as big as some normal record stores.• Pricing Is Fine: Some people have complained, but listen, if you want to browse go to the $5 store. Chances are youre coming here looking for those 3-4 records that youve wanted for years but never found. You will find them here. Hes not gonna bend you over to get them.• Owners Legit: I spent a good 30 minutes chatting up Gary about butcher covers and some of the great finds hes had in his collection over the years. Chat him up. Smile. Be excited about his store. Hell aptly provide that record store experience that you wont get from some stoned hipster that works at most newer record stores.• Dogs: Pet a dog while you shot. Why not?•Its An F-ing Record Store: At the end of the day, thats what it is. Check off every box, its the total package. Huge selection for you to nerd out over, legit dude with stories to tell working the counter, playing stations to jam out while you look around. Its like what the library would be if it were cool. Embrace the experience and enjoy yourself. You wont be let down.
