Today, I was expected to take a fishing trip with two other people at 7:30am. I arrived at 6:30 as requested. The boat did not go out since 8 people did not show up.I understand the requirement but the operator failed to mention that we were the only 3 that reserved and that there is a requirement of 8 people of any trip. I found this behavior dishonest particularly since I spoke to the operators two times in the previous day. They should have disclosed the information that there was a chance we will not go before we made arrangements that required taking time off from work.I am very disappointed by this behavior.

The food is good lots of sitting. The restrooms need attention 🧹❗️to be clean at least every two hours.

The return to Redondo Beach after 2 years of fishing in San Pedro. I heard the Redondo special was under new ownership, what a surprise when I stepped on board the Redondo special. It was a whole new boat, the crew was awesome the deckhand went above and beyond and kept and Tony shared his knowledge. Morgan you have done one hell of a job turning that boat around. I cant wait to see what you do with the boat and the owners with the landing. The guy inside the shop was helpful and friendly and like before. Congrats to all the new owners down there youre doing an awesome job.

Our trip was cancelled on the spot because not enough people showed up. When talking to the operator the day before, he never told us that we were the only ones who booked the trip and that a minimum is required. Very disappointed by this behavior.

The fishes were a little finicky that day but me and my wife had a blast being the first time on a fishing charter boat. I had a little incident due to heat stroke but the crew were so attentive and even called the Coast Guard just make sure Im fine. The captain and crew Paul, Milo attended to me like Im a VIP, even the people who were also fishing were so concerned about my wellbeing. Russell and Pete whom I never met before immediately put a cold towel on me and that helped me recover quickly. Me and my wife are already planning our next fishing trip and you can be sure its going to be with Redondo Sportfishing, love these guys

Had a great time and caught a number of legal keepers. Knowledgeable captain and staff. They rent rods and you can get a single day fishing license on-site. Would definitely go again.

Had an amazing time on Christmas eve aboard the redondo special morning trip. All of us were first time ocean fishers and the crew and other fishers made the trip just so perfect and easy for us. From setting up our poles for us to helping my mom undo a crazy knot on her pole to one of the fisherman letting me take his pole to get the first catch of the day since he knew we were beginners. We are already planning another trip with these guys because of how awesome they made this trip. We wish we wouldve got the guys name who helped us out the whole time cause I dont think anyone could ask for a better deck hand. Thank you redondo beach sport fishing for making the first Christmas with our mom in 6 years so amazing and special for us.

Favorite half day boat in LA. Great rock fishing. I always seem to land a few nice reds. Capt Morgan super nice guy and gets you on the fish. Minimal boat ride, maximum fishing time.

BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I called last week I called this week! Asked if Sept. 26 was available the both times I called they said yes I said great Ill be there Saturday morning to make a deposit they told me ok will see you on Saturday. Drove an hour to Redondo this morning got there and they said oh we gave that day to someone else theyre on there way now to pay! Never again!!

If you wanna go fishing on a boat, These guys are Awesome. Super friendly, Help you out in any way they can. I always have a spectacular time. Not to mention I limit out every time.

I had a great time aboard the Redondo Special 1/2 day. Went out to fish kelp patties outside of Marina del Rey and there was alot of calico bass and a sheepshead as well. Hooked a giant and broke off was amazing and great atmosphere.

Had a great trip with a friendly crew on a nice sunny day and saw two gray whales and 8 or 10 fin whales plus numerous porpoises and sea lions it was awesome

Best crew on the water. These guys work hard to put you on the fish. Half day boats or 1.5 day boat doesn’t matter the crew and captains always grind.

We felt it was very expensive.I took my daughter and we paid the 115 for the fishing 1/2 day 7:30 to 12:30 and when we went to rent the poles and buy tackle it was another 60.00. I’m not from around here but have used a different charter service in the past and we got everything we needed and a half day for 55 a piece.On the boat itself, it was hard because of all the smoking.So all of this together was unexpected, so we will not be back.

Did the 7:30am to 12:30pm trip, Captain Morgan great guy! Does his best to give you a great experience. Went out for about 50 minutes to the first spot, and moved around every now and then to give you a better chance at catching fish. Crew member Paul very helpful, came to several people’s aid when you got tangled up. Paul also assisted tying up your rig if you needed help. Overall experience was 10/10, very friendly Crew. Catch lots of red grouper, and Rockfish.

Hi, my name is Ryan, and I am 16 years old. I want to tell you that because I am younger than the usual person who goes on this by himself. I had an incredible time catching fish! The staff was super nice, I forgot there names lol, but the guy with black hair and glasses was super cool, that captain was awesome, and the ticket selling guy, incredible person, such a great guy. I’m so happy with my experience with Redondo beach sports fishing and whale watch! I want to address a few things and other complaints brought up, because some of them I don’t think are justified.Some people just left 1 star reviews with no context, and 2 people left 1 star reviews because they were bored and had nothing better to do.One complaint people have, is that the crew also fishes, which yes, that is true, however, from my experience they fish on the other side of the boat away from the passengers. And honestly I kinda like how they do that, it feels like you and the employees are there, not because of money, but because they love fishing.However I do have some minor complaints, it’s a bit misleading to claim you have 5 hours to fish, when in reality it’s around 3 hours. Because one hour is spent filet, and one hour is spent to get to the spot. Another minor complaint is that I wish there was more variety of species, but I also understand that defeats the entire point, I just wish there were more species of fish you can catch. Besides those two things it’s an amazing experience that I would recommend to anyone!-Ryan

Go prepared to fish from the bottom

If there was a zero stars rating, i wouldve chosen it... The first time I booked a trip, the captain left us behind after checking in with the front desk and the captain didnt return to pick us up although we could still see him leave. The second time, I booked a trip and they call me to reschedule the trip since there isnt enough people. I reschedule and the third time they call me while I am on the way to Redondo beach and cancel the trip for the same reason. It doesnt seem like this is a business that cares about its customers. It seems like the captain manages this business... horrible - avoid at all costs.

First time fishing with this company on their inaugural thursday night expedition. The fish were hungry and the crew were incredible!

Really, REALLY BAD. Booked the “sunset cruise” that left the dock after it was already dark!Checked in at the address given and the office was “closed”. The boat is actually located across the water from the address given with NO signs!Got on the boat and NO ONE was wearing a mask!!Music was really, really bad and not child friendly! Even though there were families with children on the boat. People were smoking onboard. Drinks were overpriced. The only snacks they had were Fritos!! Horrible! Do not recommend!! I would give zero stars if I could.

I went on a Sunday AM deep sea fishing trip with several friends. This was my first time fishing (deep sea or anything else). The crew was fantastic, both at the rental store and the boat. They are friendly, helpful and very attentive. They tried hard to keep the boat clean.The reason they are only getting 3 stars from me in spite of the great crew, is the boat itself. Very old and small for a crowd of close to 30 customers plus crew. When we boarded all the experienced guys rushed in so they could score a spot to put down their stuff.The worse issue (in my opinion) is people smoking and vaping all over the boat. I witnessed a guy throwing his lighted butt overboard. The boats deck is so narrow and crowded you cannot get away from the stink of the smoke.Maybe someday Ill give fishing another shot, but not on this boat.

My boyfriend and I had an amazing time with Redondo Beach Sport fishing & Whale Watch. They picked us up and dropped us off at our campsite. Our guide tried his best to cater to what we wanted, and he had a lot of interesting information about wine and wine making. Of our 13 day trip down the coast of RE, this was my favorite day because we had such a good time on our Terrific Tour!! It was such a relaxing and fun day.

This place is a joke

Felt like a cheap fishing experience, on our first round of beers the owner was rude when questioning us about whether or not they came from his bar or not, he should know what beer they are selling right? Could have checked with the kitchen staff or asked politely if we had brought them aboard. Erick was not a polite charter owner, seemed like he hated his job and customer service is not his strong suit. When trying to speak to him he ignores you until you get his direct attention. They charged to filet the fish but never announced it until after they were already done. Cheap cash grab, poor ownership. The young deckhand was a great guy, but the overall experience was tarnished. We wanted to fish again the same day, but I couldn’t give this guy any more of my money. Won’t be returning and advise others to find a higher rated fishing charter. FISH ONNNN!

Went out fishing on Monday aboard the Redondo Special with one of my friends. Why cant other Sportfishing landings be this way? The crew was OUTSTANDING!!!!! Helpful and took the time teaching the new fellow fishermen... The skipper was friendly and always moving around to find better fishing spots...I am very satisfied I highly recommend going out of the Special....

Very disappointed in this company. I had booked a whale watching adventure over a month in advance, the day before our reservation I received an email that they were canceling due to “weather” upon further research through their employees I learned that it had nothing to do with weather, they didn’t have a boat available. I would highly recommend finding a different company to use, someone with more integrity!

I been living in the South Bay all my life and have fished on all the boats from Channel Island to San Diego. But i still love the Redondo Special for the half day runs. Eric is great and so is David of the Indian. All praise to them and their crews!

Great place to catch quality fish. Went out last week and came back with lots of quality rockfish. Crew is really helpful and always have a great time .

This boat is not a good place to fish. Once fish are present, Captain and the crew will fish too. They will even get your spot! Captain and the crew will use live bait and they wont let you use the live squid bait. They wont even give you the frozen squid head. They will enjoy and you will just ending watching them. you paid to watch them having fun. Very dissapointed and you have to pay parking $12. Sorry but this is my experienced in this boat.

Booked a half day trip online. Called early morning on the day of my trip to see if enough people booked so we can go do some fishing, but insted, i was greated with rudeness and was told to call back later. Having to make a 4hr trip to Redondo beach i couldnt spare any time. When i arrived i already knew the answer to my question. These people could have saved me a lot of time and travel. I could have gone fishing somewhere else and had an amazing day instead i spent it traveling back home. Shameful! One star for the refund.

During the week may be hit or miss wether or not they can meet minimum of 8-10ppl, but when it does go out the Captain is on the fish!The dude running the store during the morning shift is usually high, so expect a bit of patience on your part so you can laugh at the comedy while this guy tried to focus on the task at hand. Cool dude, just frustratingly funny.Paul is an amazing deckhand. He made the trip a fun experience. Thank you Paul, even if Ringo is my favorite.

The fishing has gotten a lot worse in the 10 years I have fished on The Tradition And The Redondo Special. But I cant blame them for that. What I do blame them for is letting their friends fish for free (this rigs the jackpot), having the crew fish instead of helping people like they are meant to, and killing wildlife (other than fish). When you have crew there they are supposed to help kids and new anglers rig up but instead the crews fish themselves and act like it is a big problem when people ask for help. Also, when people accidentally catch batrays they no longer net them, they gaff them and let them go. It takes 20 secs to net instead of gaff but they just kill the animals instead. Also I saw them kill an endangered Tern by bashing its neck on the side of the boat. They get so mad at the animals interrupting their fishing they forgot they were there first. I will be taking my business somewhere else and this is after watching it get worse and worse for 10 years. You know SOME of us dont hate animals just because we also fish. Take a moment to just take the hook out, dont break the birds neck.

I came from Visalia, Ca to fish there with NO EXPERIENCE fishing. There was a young man helping everyone that needed help. He help us with the hooks put bait & even un-hooked our fish for us & put in our sacks... very helpful. Was worth the drive & my wife & son caught plenty of fish. I started too also catch but I got sea sick .

Were trying to use the food bait outside, it was not working properly. The staff is very unfriendly, rude, very angry and violent staff. Definitely do not recommend this place to anyone!

I looked at about 15 different companies and settled for this one because of location.... we showed up early and the sales guy was nice. I reserved our spots on the boat about 2 days in advance. Very easy to do online. Then we were afraid the boat would be too packed and wouldnt get a good spot to however when you go they give you a slip with a designated # on it. So we had predetermined spots to fish from... The crew... Im going to be as honest as I can.... there were a couple guys who looked like they were not going to be very personable.... However it was the exact opposite, they were amazing.... So friendly... So helpful... I was so pleased with everything they after buying the tickets and renting the poles and buying the licenses for myself and my kids and paying $1.00 to clean each fish and paying for the great food the cooked down in the galley... I left them a decent tip. I cant express how grateful we all are for the experiences we had... The only thing I had an issue with was the the locals who went out with us brought there own poles and tackle, lures they would cast there lines overhanded, and I cant tell you how many times they almost hooked us, keep in mind we all have pre determined spots we were supposed to be fishing from... But that wasnt a huge problem. We decided if anyone got hooked we would beat that person and throw them overboard LOL.... But seriously the boats too small to be having people cast thier lines in over handed.... Dont let that discurage you from going, we just did a lot of ducking....

I did the redondo special and the only thing i didnt like was that we had to sabiki our own bait so we wasted about an hour trying to snag mackerel. I would of liked it if the crew where to of walked around and checked up on the anglers to see how they where doing..

Was pumped to go fishing.But was shorted by the Hungover captain.I tried to make up the difference of any shortage of people with payment.I lost my one opportunity to fish during my trip....I will not roll the dice again...if there was a boat available in that marina I could have payed cash...

You dont have to pay for parking if you get your stub validated at bait shop. had a great day fishing too

Went fishing for rockfish on Saturday 15.12.12 it was good just bring a reel with over 400 yards of line. Great fishing went once off the coast of Palos Verdes test fishing there. Better when they go for bass and other species off Palos Verdes. Still great fishing.

This place is not a good place to visit for fishing there is this Small Skinny guy who rents out fishing rod Age approx 25 yrs who smokes all the time And Gets Mad a Customer I would not recommend any one coming to visit this place By hey You be the judge of this place
