I always get my hair cut from Olga in the Rapid City Ulta. For 5 years now, she always understands what I want. I’ve come to her for bangs and long layers then to a sleek long bob with my grown out bangs blended in. She was very supportive of the shaggy mullet style i wanted this time and gave me the most beautiful exciting blended layers (in these photos). She always makes me feel like part of her family. Everyone was friendly and helpful, I found everything I needed. Credit card application was quick and easy, excited I got approved and was able to save a little bit of money. Only thing Im bummed about is I got the very last Ulta spring scent vault box and I didnt realize until I got home it had already been opened and the entire middle row of scents are half gone along with a few others which sucks cuz theyre already tiny bottles being sample sizes. I wont return it just because it was the last one and I really wanted to try all these scents.

Do not waste your time going into this store. How does a makeup store expect to sell makeup if you can not use a tester to confirm the shade matches your skin tone. So you can’t test makeup but you can get your makeup done by someone at the store... sounds totally sane.

Needed help with picking out concealer and fountain and they made sure I got the right stuff, very helpful and polite and patient with me. I will go back again

I took my sister and her daughter in here to pick out a shade of the BareMinerals tinted moisturizer, some concealer, brushes, and face wash and Shianne was nothing short of amazing. She was kind and knowledgeable and made sure they had the perfect match!

I love ulta it is spacious and not small and cramped like the other beauty makeup store. Most of the staff has always been helpful and my makeup lady of many years is at ulta ( herbergers was my makeup store and annie w Lancome has been my girl forever. I wish there were more samples of high end foundations to try and with the pandemic it has made it harder to try before you buy Id also like to see more knowledge on different products especially the skin care end not so much on the high-end skin care but more in the drugstore type section I had to research the ordinary because there really wasnt a lot of info and being in the beauty industry it helps to be able to ask an employee what they know about it and I have learned valuable lessons however what works for the 20-something year old employee selling Mia Foundation doesnt necessarily work for the older woman such as myself in her fifties and so when my gal Annie is not there I do kind of struggle but I also like that Annie and then an employee a year ago Riley they also take me over to the drug store makeup and skincare side and point out things that I can get that will be easier on my budget that means a lot to me instead of walking out with one or two products I walk out with my moneys worth Ive also had my makeup professionally done within the last few years there and she did a gorgeous job I dont remember who she was but I was very happy and always happy when I go into Ulta

If I could give zero stars I would. Called earlier in the week and made a brow appointment over the phone for today. We live in rural Nebraska and dont have a brow bar near by. Left early because its a 3 1/2 hours drive and I didnt want to be late in case we hit road construction. Showed up Twenty minutes early, and turns out I wasnt on the schedule, anywhere! The associate I spoke to never put the appointment in when she gave me the details. Extremely frustrated after driving all morning that they were unwilling to squeeze me into the 28 minute window between the next appointment, especially given the scheduling mistake on their end and the drive I made specifically for this appointment.

Update: I can’t believe it, but they did figure out someway to give me credit for the return/immediate purchase that I made. Somehow crediting those points back to last year so that I am still Platinum.I’m amazed and grateful, that was a lot of money to spend to lose my status so easily from a simple misunderstanding of the rules.OP: Be careful not to return anything if you barely made platinum status- you will lose it and they will do nothing to help you.Made platinum this December, but returned an item and because it dropped me under $400- I lost my status and there’s nothing that can supposedly be done. I’m sure this is not true- voiding that return is something I’m sure the computer could have done. But they were unwilling to help at all.

Im always going to love make-up stores, but this particular Ulta is just very limited in what they have available. Having a darker skin tone I frequently struggle to find the right shades and colors for my complexion. Given that there is such a large indigenous population they should try harder.

When I placed my order I accidentally had it sent to an old address. Not only could I not cancel the order but I was told that if the package was to be stolen that I would not receive my money back. Thanks to my local post office I was able to get my package however when I opened the package the cap to one of my sprays was missing to top off this terrible experience. I won’t even get a replacement spray because I am simply tired of dealing with this company. I will never shop at an Ulta store again.

Kinda a hit or a miss for me. Sometimes super friendly, helpful staff who are ready to help you with anything. Other times, you go to check out and if you get a free gift with purchase sometimes the cashiers act like they are annoyed that you ask for your free gift (even though it’s free, and they should just give it to you without asking, and should be happy to do so for that matter). If they are out of something, they can always ship it to you free of charge which is super helpful. Overall I do like shopping here, and they do have a good selection. There is a guy who works here who is always very friendly, kind, and enthusiastic about makeup just as much as I am, so that is refreshing. Also the lady named Annie is super great, knowledgeable, and extremely friendly and helpful too.

Aly at the beauty salon is great! She knows what you are talking about when you tell her or show her a picture and she is able to recreate! She is trendy and can really help you look your best! Go to her! She is amazing at what she does!

I was from out of town and staying in an extended stay when I made an appointment to get highlights, lowlights and a haircut. The color looked great but I couldnt believe when I got home that I still had major roots! What was very disheartening was the fact that I was charged $300 for this service. Ive never paid that much in my life! 😔

Gloria was so so soo sweet but not only that, when I colored my hair in past it used to break but with her good care it just looks healthy. I appreciate that so much, I change my look but my hair is still healthy. Thank youuu!!!

AWESOME!! Its too bad this location has poor ratings. I had EXCELLENT service. I walked in and a lady asked if she could help and I told her what I was looking for. She helped me out and gave me three FREE samples of facial creams and cleansers!

Ulta here in Rapid City has sone of the best employees and they are extremely helpful. My wife is able to find all of here makeup needs and I am able to find plenty of MENS body washes and beard care products. The ladies at the front check out are sometimes not very attentive but I dont want to take away from the others for that!

I don’t typically post negative reviews however after paying $38.00 for a hair cut I feel this review is a must! By far, the absolutely worst haircut I have ever received. I asked for a bob cut, slightly stacked. I should have left with only parts of the back of my hair cut when the stylist asked another stylist how to put layers in a bob cut! Really?! But who am I kidding, I literally left with parts of the back of my hair not cut...!before leaving I told her my hair was uneven... she took a snip at the front... how she was able to miss the 2” difference is beyond me! Oh and I asked for it to be between my shoulders and chin... one side was midway, one side chin! needless to say I came home, looked in a mirror and burst into tears. I called the salon at 6:05 on Sunday when I got home. They would not be able to “fix” my hair until a week from now unless I could come in during my work hours. Hello! This is why I came on a weekend... all in all worst haircut in 34 years... waiting to see if the manager calls me back tomorrow like I was promised... not worth .38 much less $38.00!

The employees have terrible customer service skills and are clearly only interested in fulfilling their credit cards sign-up quotas rather than helping people. At check-out, they demand your phone number, and if you politely decline, be prepared for a barrage of push-back, followed by sneering rudeness. Id rather shop online.

I love Ulta. They are usually friendly. I like the Morphe collection. Ive had good and ok experiences at the salon.

Every type of make up, skin care, hair products n beauty shop under one roof! Not enough staff to help answer your question though. And when your spending upwards of $50 for 1 item in many cases you really want that expert advice. But if its massive selection you crave ULTA is it! Hadnt been there for a long time but after shopping this weekend with my daughter I will make this place one of my regular stops weekly. Love the HUGE SELECTIONS at varrying prices for every budget

I went in there the Saturday before Easter to put together a make up Easter basket for my teenage daughter. I was lost, and had no idea of what I should get. The staff was extremely helpful, walking me through the store, helping me put it all together. My daughter loved everything I got her.

I am not a makeup woman but I want to look like I am😉 Ulta employees have been above&beyond helpful when I come in with questions and Every recommendation has worked out Beautifully for me.

I wanted a natural full coverage foundation in a specific color I needed them to match. Vera took me right to the natural products.in the past, the girl took me all over the store and showed me foundations and said, “I think this is natural”. But they weren’t. Vera saved me lots of time and found exactly what I was looking for!!

Ulta is a great place and good selection of makeup. But I feel everytime I go in there I am getting judged cause I dont wear makeup except on the weekends when I work.

I absolutely love this store. They have so many amazing products and most of the girls are very knowledgeable. I will not however be going back to have my makeup done professionally ever again. The gal who did it glued the false lashes to my actual lashes and it took 20 minutes to get them off even with two different makeup and lash glue removers. I told her I needed a really good lip color that would last all night as well, I didnt even make it to the party before my lipstick was half gone. When she applied it she assured me the lipcolor she was using would last all night. My makeup did look great, too bad it didnt last more than 15 minutes.

Went to go buy some cologne, some of the floor employees were great with helping, but the manager is super rude and almost seems racist. Her management skills are below poor, her facial expressions she makes towards the customers as if we are gross in her eyes, shes hostile against her employees, her attitude needs to be checked, wouldnt be surprised if shes single. Change the management team and maybe Ulta will survive the new incoming store

I see a lot of bad reviews for this store. which I dont understand, I went in for the first time ever at an ulta store last week. I was greeted instantly and asked if I needed any help, more than once. the lady who helped my sister and me was super super helpful (even when it came to our low budget) and so friendly. I didnt run into an employee that wasnt friendly or willing to help. Im very impressed, ill definitely be returning!

I love this store and I find that most of the associates on the floor really know their products. Some times it is difficult to find some one to help you because they are so busy. The only thing I dislike is when I have been in there the last two times, the clerk at the check out was less then personable. She looked young so maybe she was just learning. But it was my birthday and I was excited to get my freebee. She acted like she was handing over a brick of gold to a criminal. Then when I was there the second time I had a fabulous coupon another freebee and it was the same thing. Some of the older staff are more than happy for you and glad that you got a bonus. Overall I love the vast array of products you offer.

I have always had my hair done by Aly. If youre looking for someone to trust, choose her! She has done a wide range of things with my hair, from being black to blonde to burgandy to red... She also takes alot of time and care with her clients. My hair has drastically grown and become more healthier since i went to her! Not to mention, the girls there are all so nice and fun and make you comfortable when you have an appointment. I also recommend doing the 10 minute facials they offer if you deal with severe dry skin or even oily skin. they help me in each season of the year!!-Kassi

I think that ulta has the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER ! I was there two days ago and they had 10 people in line 1 cashier and two other girls just standing behind the counter doing nothing just talking to each other.... I work retail as well but when we have more then 4 people standing in line we get an additional cashier to come help with the customers. Not only is that a problem but most of them have an attitude and talk down to you. They suck and I wish they had more training on their customer service skills.

Absolutely horrible. It would be a much better store if the entire staff was fired and replaced with people who actually understand what customer service is. I am so happy that a Sephora will be opening in March 2016 at the Rushmore Mall. I strongly suggest not coming to this store and just ordering your things online from Sephora. Thats how bad it is, I receive better customer service from a damn website. Its pretty pathetic. The manager, Sarah, is entirely too rude and extremely condescending considering the fact that she is a makeup store manager. The only thing they have going for them are their products. The sales arent great and any free gifts that youre suppose to get with purchase are almost always never found. I will definitely never walk into this sorry excuse of a store ever again.

Employees are not educated at all. I know more than them and find myself teaching them.. Plus they never offer to ask if you want to use reward points, I always have to. Hit or miss on getting help. Excuses are made up of they cant find what your looking for. The employees are rude and do not appear to enjoy their jobs, always talking. Turn over rate is high, they are Always hiring.

Sherri was the most amazing, nice, helpful women I have ever met. Very knowledgeable and respectful. Sarah the manager was in a different world and Im sure she was hallucinating a few times. Alyssa would follow me around and not give me my privacy. When she greeted me a few times. Im not sure if its her voice or what but it was high pitched and I was very uncomfortable with her calling me hunny and sweetie ect. It reminded me of my high school experience when I had a overly obsessed weird girl stalker. I felt as if I was in a day care center since she watched my every move. Hopefully it gets better because I cringe every time I go past the store now...

I got my hair done Friday, May 4th - it was my BIRTHDAY - I spent 7 hours in the salon chair for me to get NOWHERE near what I asked for. My hair was bleached for 3 1/2 hours. It is completely damaged now and breaks off every time I comb it. It was my birthday weekend and I spent all weekend at home because my hair is absolutely horrible and I cannot do anything to it. Sarah - the salon manager - told me I could get a refund or have them fix my hair but they couldnt do both for me. I paid $22 on Thursday for the small amount of bleach that was put in my hair that day and couldnt get that refunded. I couldnt get my tip refunded either after learning that the stylist had been posting on FB that she was annoyed and needed a hydrocodone for her migraine - these were posted WHILE I WAS IN HER CHAIR. Kyle the GM could not even look me in my face or did not apologize. Sarah did not apologize after seeing my hair and after simply looking at it she walked away and that was the last I saw of her yesterday - just a quick look at my hair and she walked away. I do NOT recommend anybody to go to this Ulta.
