Fridge/freezer stopped working, my wife called them and gave them the information about the fridge. model number, what was wrong with it, what it was doing, etc...They came out and looked at it and said that parts for it are not longer made. Ok thats alright, I understand how that goes, no worries. Typically I can still find a part online somewhere in those situations, but if not, I get it, that isnt there fault.What shocked me is that they already had the information about the fridge, and could have already looked up parts availability before hand and let my wife know before coming out.And the deciding factor to never call them again and not recommend them is that they actually charged $100 to drive over and tell my wife what they could have told her on the phone for free...That is very very poor business ethics...In short,They charged $100 to show up and say that parts are no longer made for it and cant fix it, when they already had the information about the fridge over the phone.
When GE used Sears for appliance repair the service was reliable. Since Sears and their service left it went elsewhere. Now K&D Appliance is doing GE appliance repair. Last Thursday we called GE and had a repair for our washer scheduled for 5 days later. On the day of the scheduled repair we get a call from K&D appliance. They tell us they are booked up until June 22 or July. And we would have to pay for our parts. Our washer had a 10 year warranty. If Sears still repaired appliances in Rapid City we would have had our washer repaired on the date given.6/22 the repairman showed up. He had the problem diagnosed in just over 5 minutes. Without opening up the washer. He did several things with the panels. He has me call my wife and tells her that she needs a new washer. He says it would be cheaper to buy a new washer than to fix it. Then he tells her that oil is dripping underneath the washer. He said he noticed this when he lifted the washer. I watched him the whole time and never seen him lift the washer. This guy lied to my wife. He just didn’t want to fix our washer.
Both our HVAC and our refrigerator had issues within months of each other, and K&D were able to help us weeks to months before anyone else could. Both times, the repairmen were very polite and knowledgable, and I never felt that they were trying to oversell me mislead me. They were able to repair my refrigerator and replace my HVAC system in a very timely manner! I would absolutely recommend K&D Appliance to anyone in need of repairs!

Repairing a 26 year old clothes washer...have to admit I checked online sellers at the top of the Google ads list first. Couldnt find what I needed after a frustrating 45 minutes online and on hold. Found K & D and they answered the phone on the first ring. Had what I needed on the shelf and at fair prices. A real shop with real people... places like this are where everyone should be buying instead of online mega retailers. Lets keep the home town folks open and successful!
I had a hot water heater leak and called just after 5 during on the coldest week in modern history. The receptionist answered the phone and was very sweet. I was able to get an appointment the next day. Job complete in 20 minutes! Thanks so much!
The first time I called, the employee was more concerned with visiting than repairing the dishwasher. He did not put all of the parts back on after checking it. He also insisted there wasn’t a problem, even though there was or I wouldn’t have called for service. He said if I called again for service within 90 days I wouldn’t be charged. Within 90 days, we needed service again and were charged $90 for a less than 10 minute assistance. will not call or recommend again. Unprofessional attitudes.
John was so quick, professional, and courteous when it came to fixing our washer issues! This was my first time calling K&D, and I’ll definitely be calling them again if we ever need any future repairs.

Top notch. Service was rescheduled for sooner than original appointment. Technician, John I believe, was super friendly, and took the time to walk through and breakdown my washers inside operations and components. Ill never call anyone else. You shouldnt either.
First thing I want to say is my service from beginning to end was outstanding! I originally called and was booked about a week or so out to have someone come look at my broken washer, but I was called the next day and was offered an opening that came up. This was great because I have two children and it’s not easy going without a washer. I wish I knew the techs name that came because he was VERY professional and polite! He fixed my washer and gave me tips about maintaining and cleaning out the mess from when it was broken. K and D made this very quick and easy on me! Highly recommend this business!

Outstanding service! Central A/C went out on the hottest evening of June so far. Called the next morning, a Sunday, K&D came right out and replaced a part. Worth every penny of the service call charge. Have used them before for frontload washing machine, dishwasher and ice dispenser. Will give them all our future business!
I highly recommend K & D appliance! Our technician was very informative and friendly. We had our refrigerator compressor go out, a part that was under warranty but back ordered, the week before Thanksgiving, with a household of 5 kids, stress overload. K & D took care of all of the warranty inquiries and when the part did come in it was installed very fast. Thank you K & D for helping us get through this holiday headache and saving us thousands!

Cant say enough about these guys! Ive used them in desperate times in the past. In my last house while my wife was very preganant with twins and our air conditioner quit during the heatwave. Money was tight. It was scary buying a $5000 compressor was financially impossible on the spot. You guys took me at my word and allowed me to make payments. That alone was enough for me to thank you for your philanthropic efforts. However, thats not enough. Without needing to, you most recently took on all the risk on warranty work in which you were not guaranteed payment on so that my family of 7 humans and 3 animals didnt have to spend $3000 on a new fridge (which is exactly what I almost did) When 100% of the labor was covered, you had no obligation other than your own integrity to tell me that and save me enough to buy alot of money to buy more gifts for my kids. I would happily pay what was originally agreed upon for labor. But giving me the perspective of spending that money on spoiling my kids was my Christmas present from you to me me. They were timely, courteous and professional. The repairman that came to my house was friendly and explained everything very well. They will be my “go to” repair company and I have already recommended them to others.
I would strongly advise against using this company. I had initially planned to leave them an outstanding review, so glad I got busy and hadn’t yet. I called them to fix my WORKING but squeaky dryer, they scheduled me a week out. Busy, understandable. Came on Halloween, fixed the squeak cost me $184 for labor and the part. Real quiet dryer I was happy. NOT 48 HOURS LATER I HAVE DRYER THATS SILENT BUT NOW DOES NOT WORK, just tosses clothes around no heat! Reviews indicate I need not be concerned, they’ll make it right I thought. WRONG. Charged me $166 for another part to get the heat back! When I told the repairman I found it unique that the dryer only stopped working after he fixed the squeak he shrugged and said “I understand”. THEN as we are having this interaction THE DRYER STARTS SQUEAKING AGAIN! ??????He said “that’s just gonna happen with dryers”....So now folks, $350 later what I have is a dryer that works...but still squeaks WHICH IS LITERALLY THE REASON I CALLED THEM!One star and would leave none if I could.Call this place if you want ripped off.UPDATE: Got a call from the manager the day after this review was submitted. He excused their performance by saying 1) My grooming profession is to blame for the problem 2) its Samsungs fault for selling products to people they dont care about and 3) His technicians just arent that advanced. Pretty much anyones fault but theirs.All of this only after he became defensive of my comment that their receptionist leaved something to be desired (its his mother apparently).I was even reasonable enough to offer to pay for the parts if he just refunded labor cost as his technician only fixed a dryer he was responsible for breaking to begin with. No apology, no refund. He instead attempted to charge me for a potential third visit. WOW!
Our water heater was starting to leak. We purchased a new one and stopped buy to see when we could have it installed. Following day an estimate was given. And much to my surprise, I got a call the next morning for the installation in the afternoon. Very prompt and courteous service. Will certainly call upon them if other repairs are needed.

Outstanding, professional and timely service! I really appreciated how the technician taught me how to perform some preventive maintenance on my furnace.
Somewhat expensive. $235 with tax to fix my ice maker on my fridge. About $70-80 to look at it, which is typical. $100 for the part (functional knockoffs are about $20-30 on Amazon). And then they charged me an addl $40 for labor; for about 5-10 mins worth of labor, about 4 screws in total. Maybe thats how they bill their hours but I dont recall it being explained to me as such over the phone. I was under the impression, perhaps mistakenly, that the service fee would cover minor repairs, less parts.No problem with the service. Scheduling the service was simple and they were able to get out within the same week. Serviceman showed up on time and was professional and quoted the price to me after assessing the repair. There was no wrong doing on the part of the company. Im just a little miffed by the $40 labor charge. Had I known what was involved and how much I could get a replacement part for, I wouldve just let him on his way, paid the service fee, replaced the part myself, and saved myself $100+.TLDR: seems like an okay company and really my fault for letting him continue with the repair. Just left a bad taste in my mouth bc of the $40 labor charge.
We are full time RVers...traveling across the country. We began having cooling issues with our residential refrigerator on Saturday...4 days ago. We made numerous calls from Elkhart, IN to Rapid City, SD for help. K&D Appliance came to our site at the KOA, Rapid City, SD. Repaired our frigerator in less than an hour. So nice...so professional! We are SO thankful! Give them your business! They deserve it! PS. Camping World and others never even returned our call!
