Several years ago I bought my 2012 Escape here; the sales person was good to work with. I always use their service department and they do a great job. The service people are courteous, helpful. The services provided over the years have been done very well.Only once in the 8 years I have dealt with their service department did they did not fully explain to me what was included or not included in the purchase of a set of tires; they do not balance the tires when they install them, unless you tell them to. This led to faster wear on the tires than it should have. Had they told me this when I purchased the set, I would have asked them to balance the tires when installed.Overall, I recommend Shields Auto Center to friends and family.

I purchased a vehicle from Shields Auto-Rantoul on August 17th sight unseen as I live in Central Kentucky. Andy was the sales representative who assisted me in this purchase and he was nothing but professional. He assisted me in acquiring additional photos, answering odd questions, and quickly helping me trouble shoot a factory issue that Dodge wasnt willing to make good on after purchase and delivery of the vehicle. Purchasing the vehicle itself was beyond easy thanks to Theresa in the finance department. Everything was emailed back and forth with the final documents signed once the guys dropped the truck off for me in Kentucky. Once I said my goodbyes and thanked the dealer and the gentleman who drove the truck down I thought that was the end of our client-dealer relationship...boy was I wrong! Kentucky and Illinois do things A LOT differently as far as registering vehicles go. Between the poor communication from my county clerk, the major lag time in getting things processed with my loan agency, Shields was beyond patient and made true on their promise of customer care...even if it did take me nearly 2 months to get everything filled out correctly in order to get my truck registered in Kentucky! Thank you Shields for assisting me in purchasing a BEAUTIFUL vehicle that I absolutely love to drive as such an affordable rate with top tier customer service. I would recommend you to anyone who is in search of their next vehicle!

The service department is a joke. I went in October of 2019 to get my full service completed, that is recommended by the vehicle manufacturer so I can keep up with my Warranty Forever. After they completed the service at the end of the day, the service advisor tells me that there is a crack in my transfer case housing. That they were unsure if it was like that or not. The crack was large(clearly caused by using an impact on aluminum housing and over torqueing it).Since I park in my garage every night I would notice this considerable leak. They told me the tech put JB Weld on it and wait a few days and see if that will fix it. Of course it never did. So then I have to go through the run around with the Service Manager at that time about it. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN DIFFERNT IF THEY WERE HONEST AND ADMITTED TO THE DAMAGE THEY CAUSED!!! I am a very understanding person but that is ridiculous. I will never recommended anyone to get any service done there ever. What a joke. Never got any apologies or anything for what they did.

Our salesman, Andy was very helpful and respectful. The finance team worked their best to keep our payments on our budget and were very kind. Overall we had a great experience at Shields Auto Center and would recommend them for all of your Ford Truck purchasing products and services.

My daughter had horrible experience. I will share her post below:🗣🗣For anyone around Rantoul thinking of going to Shields in Rantoul, DONT. We bought a Tahoe from there middle of June, called the end of June to tell the of issues and never could get through to the service center. A few days later I called and got though and the guy I spoke to came off as extremely arrogant and told me we were out of luck because we were past our two week warranty (when we could could get through we were within the two week). The guys told me he doesnt know whats wrong with it and it needs to be brought in. I wasnt driving 3 hours to bring it in and it not be under warranty. After taking it to the chevy dealership twice here to finally figure out the issue it needs a whole new transmission. I 100 percent belive they knew of the issue prior to selling it. Several people said how bad that place was and now we know first hand.

Bought a used truck. The salesman, Terry, was polite and management was easy to deal with. They even covered a couple of issues we noticed after purchasing to make the deal even better. More honest and upfront than other dealer experiences we have had.

The trade in and buying experience was way better than expected. Kyle Johnson was a friendly, attentive salesman that fulfilled every request I had. I experienced a minor issue with a window leak in my newly purchased vehicle but the Shields team is correcting it without hesitation. Great experience.

This dealer is horrible, planned on looking at and probably ordering/purchasing a Bronco after test driving it. I set up an appointment and they cancelled and wanted me to reschedule all of a sudden because it wasn’t available. Do not waste your time at this dealer. Horrible management practices.

Shields sold my very pregnant daughter a 2013 Nissan Altuma that had a recall on the rear control arms. It broke while she was driving down the road! She could have been hurt seriously cause she is a traveling CNA for Carle. If she had been doing faster than 20 miles an hour the car could have flipped! She has owned it for 6 weeks ! When she called them they told her there was no law that they couldnt sell cars with recalls on them! They also told her they cant look up recalls on foreign car! I call bs cause we looked it up on line! SO DONT BUY A USED car from Shields your loved ones may die cause they dont car if the car is safe!

I always treat buying a vehicle like its a fight, because it usually is. I am 51 years old and my purchase of a new vehicle at Shields was the best buying experience of my life. Prompt and convenient service. I thought Rantoul would be out of the way, but Shields it is located right off the highway and the service technicians are very prompt. The oil changes are less expensive than what I had been paying in Champaign, too. When I call, Shields service representative is very good about scheduling my appointment and he provides a good estimate how long it will take.

Friendly, professional staff however I have to go back for the same issue now four times!

After seven plus times to have my transmission fixed they still have done nothing. This is my third review saying the same thing and of course you havent posted any of them. If youre not going to post the bad reviews along with the good reviews stop doing this. Well it did it again and I am about fed up with driving my truck up to get it fixed. They have not done a thing to fix the problem as it is still not shifting properly. If this is the way Ford treats its customers you will not see me again and any of my friends looking for a new vehicle I will steer them in any direction but Shields. As I stated above you wont publish this review as it is negative

Disabled Retired Senior Citizen Military Veteran here I just purchased a used 2004 Chrysler Concorde this weekend from Shield in Rantoul. Sale Rep Dave was easy to work with, transact all happen smoothly within a few hours. Dave even came to my residents so I could look at car before purchasing, very professional. I would at this moment suggest shop local. UPDATE after less then two months I had a little issue with the vehicle, Daves quick professional response to this issue was outstanding. Shields even sent a representative from the maintenance shop on the same day due to the current C19 Virus situation to my residents, picked up the vehicle, took it to shop and addressed the problem. Again, I would strongly suggest buying from Shields who support Veterans and making them one of the best local car dealership in Rantoul.

Shields Auto Center has an incredibly generous and caring staff. At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, my mother and I were out-of-state and were driving back home. My car was making some awful noises, so we stopped in Shields Auto Center to have my cars fluid levels checked, and we were expecting to pay for the service. Much to our surprise, a Shields Auto Center employee checked our fluid levels and changed our oil for free! So incredibly thoughtful, helpful, and generous. I have never bought a car from Shields, but based on my experience with their employees, I would highly recommend Shields.

An absolutely fantastic experience buying a car here from David Cassout. We will be returning for years to come for service and future car purchases. The room for kids to play is so perfect! Good expierence with staff and felt good with my vehicle I was there to buy. After leaving with my vehicle I had purchased.However, my complaint is that they did not require staff or customers to wear masks on the premise during COVID. I felt this was a safety issue. Seriously had the best buying experience here - all future cars will be purchased at this location. There were no pushy upgrades - they listened to what we wanted and provided! Bought a 2015 Ford Escape from Shields in Paxton a few weeks ago. Worked with Cliff and Butch. Both nice guys. Helped me get financing and explained all the “extras.” Ultimately decided to buy from Shields because it’s convenient in both Rantoul and Paxton and the “Warrenty Forever” that they offer. So far the car has been great and I love it.

Do you know if you take your vehicle to Shields for service and they break out your $500 tail light they advise you to turn it in on YOUR insurance because they don’t carry insurance to cover damage THEY do while in there care!! Makes a very expensive oil change!!!!

Tried to purchase a Ford Sport Trac, was told they could finance me but not for that car as it had too many miles on it (134000), Salesman offered me a few cars that would work, I told him I really wanted an SUV or truck. So he offers me an Avalanche, that was 5 years older than the initial vehicle and had 50,000 miles on it. Even though there was an Avalanche on the lot that fit the limits set out by the Finance company. Seems like they were just trying to clear their lot of junk. When I balked at the older vehicle they tried pushing me to a Buy Here Pay Here lot in Rantoul with higher interest.

This is a small town dealership, they actually care about the customer and their reputation. Service is great they dont hide anything and are honest.

I purchased my car in Champaign il I will not reveal the dealership. I brought the car brand new so I had warranty. My car started over heating and the check engine light came on. I go to the dealership I purchased the car from and was told there was Nothing they could do and that I would have to wait 2 weeks for an appointment. I was heated at this point so I called Shields they got me in the Next Day!! Ordered my part that the other dealership said was on back order.....I was taken care of in 2 days!! Great customer service in the service department friendly staff and I was given a vehicle to drive. Thank you guys so Much! I have recommended shields to all my employees at work and family and friends
