Was going to make about a $1,100 to $1,400 purchase for hunting supplies. Was denied access to store due to not having a mask with me. I can’t in good conscience support any business that is being a crony for illegal government mandates on private property that force people to endure hypoxia.

I like having a small local sports store. They have a wide selection of items. I like how they have some high-quality items but also offer budget friendly items. After all sometimes youre just looking for an item to fill a limited need and you dont want to spend a lot.Their employees can be hit or miss, there are some really good ones who are helpful and knowledgeable. Others will completely ignore you.Recently I purchased two kayaks. Spent $1200 on the kayaks and other supplies. There were 4 or 5 employees standing around the register. They completely ignored me as I was trying to get the kayaks outside. I was trying to be careful and not knock the kayaks into their merchandise and the aisles were quite narrow. Trying to get the kayaks out the door was challenging. Another customer who had left just before me got out of their car and held the door for me, thanks buddy. Meanwhile the employees didnt even look at me.The kayak struggle was a bit of a strange situation, but I have had other similar incidents. Then I stopped in the other day, and an employee approached me and was very helpful and knowledgeable about their shoes.

I have to specifically say that the person who helped me, (I believe his name was John) with selecting shoes for my son, was probably the most helpful of anyone Ive encountered shoe shopping. He was very nice, happy, helpful and patient while my kid tried on several different shoe types and sizes. Just incredible service here from a genuinely nice person. Thank you! And great job!

The store has a very friendly courteous go getter worker that doesnt keep a person waiting and that hustles to and from different shoppers to accommodate to the best of his ability everyone and not leaving anyone hanging.Good prices and variety..Way to go John K. Its plain to see that he likes his job very much.

I love this location. I live about 2 minutes from the one on Arden way but that store doesnt compare to this store. Purchased a bike rack and the manager helped me install it. He was so kind.

The staff was super nice. The computer system, is/was dumb. Asking for my DOB to buy a hammock?The employee had to comply with the computer system, so while surprised? I have nobody specifically to complain to.Please, someone fix the computers?

Nice place, its small but has alot of cool stuff packed in there. Found what I needed really quick and got out within 10 minutes

U can find a good pair of shoes for less than 50 bucks and u can usually find a coupon somewhere to get 5 or 10% off the purchase thats where I go to get my shoes.

Rude. What is going on with this new staff thats getting hired and how the heck are they holding on to these jobs for a year every single time I ask one of these new rude employees how long theyve been there its been a year so ever since this covid stuff has happened. It doesnt matter how your prices are it doesnt even matter how nicely stocked your store is if your employees are rude and just have an air of uglyness about them nobodys going to want to shop at your store

Big 5 is pretty much the last brick and mortar sporting goods store left, so thats one thing its got going for itself to begin with, but it does have a great selection of sporting goods for many different sports. Theyve really packed a lot of stuff into this store, from all the leading brands. Ive purchased shoes, weights, golf stuff, and workout gear here. This store is easy-in, easy-out, and the staff is always helpful, courteous, and professional.

Nothing really sets this location apart from other Big 5 Sporting Goods stores, but every time Ive been here, the staff was knowledgeable. The staff member that helped me wasnt rude, but definitely wasnt friendly either. Big 5 carries slightly less well known, but decent brands. Sort of like the Target of sporting goods.

Staff were so helpful and patient helping me find baseball gear for my new baseball player.

I went to the rancho cordova store to buy Double Burner propane stove, when I asked the manager, he responded in a bad way, He said they did not carry that kind, after touring the store I found what I was looking for, then I asked him about two other things but he also responded very badly, I told him that his way of helping the Customers was not professional at all. I will not buy from this store again.

They canned their old rude staff and have great service now good management very helpful this is now the best big 5!

The store opened at 9. We got there at 8:53. Our son forgot his cleats at home 30 minutes away and needed to be to the field near the store by 9:00. At 8:53 the manager let an employee in. We explained our situation and asked if we could get in a little early he said, no, 9:00. Then proceeded to laugh and chat with the employee right in front of the glass doors until 9. Then he casually walked over and started messing with the windows! We are right outside! He should have let us in at 9:00 but he literally was taunting us. Horrible customer service!!

Very wonderful experience. The main thing that is a big minus was when an employee told me non slip and slip resistant are 2 different things. But that was NOT in Rancho Cordova.

Good prices, good selection. The store is a bit cramped but it is packed with tons of stuff, so I suppose that is a good thing. The staff is nice and it is close to the Target and Walmart shopping centers right off the Zinfandel exit in Rancho Cordova.

Face coverings required to select people. I watched a man walk out without a mask so I asked if he was required to wear one and he said no. I walked up and the lady at the front door refused to let me in. I wont be back.

This seems like one of the smaller locations Ive been to, so not much to choose from. Employees were pleasant. Good for a quick look if you want something right now rather than wait for Amazon.

Fin was awesome helpful with getting a ton of different shoes. Would give it 5 stars but shoes on sale have limited sizes. Nothing worse then finding some you want but they dont have ur size!

Big 5 was my go to sporting goods store even when I was growing up in the Bay Area back in the 70s, 80s and then up to Sac Town in the early 90s. Ouch i just felt old making that comment.The only thing I can say for them to correct is it needs a BIG, HUGE, MAJOR Feng Shui decorator. There has to be a better way to make the store look less jam packed. More shelves, higher up something, anything to help that HUGE clutter feel.
