Cool place in Raleigh. Great ambience. We were there on rescue dog night which helped. Beer was decent if not exceptional. Its a fun place to spend an evening.

Convenient location, good venue. Beers are always good. Just had the Queen’s Harvest, it was a nice light beer with good flavor. They have bingo and trivia nights during the week with good food trucks.

You must try the tidal break IPA. Also, I love the interior/exterior of this brewery. It’s a nice space. Used to go here with coworkers all the time. It was our spot. 💯

Went here the day after Christmas while in Raleigh. The staff was friendly, helpful and professional. They could have used another bartender with the number of people that were there. They have a nice selection of beer. Several that I tried were very good. Not a fan of all the young kids that were present and running around the brewery. Parents, why would your young child want to come watch you drink beer? Leave them at home!

Compass Rose Brewery was the perfect place for our ten-year high school reunion! Joshua and all of the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating and we all had a fantastic time. The beer is delicious and the atmosphere is beautiful but relaxed. I’ll definitely be back!

I love the sheer size of this place! We had the pleasure of hosting friends at the 4th WolfsBayne Brew Crash here at Compass Rose. Excellent beers thanks to Justins ingenuity and always a good food truck around. The table and chairs are meaty and satisfying to relax on. Plenty of space indoor or out too.

Used to be a regular when it first opened but had not been back in a long time. Beers were really good. The Raven Mocker was excellent for a BB stout. Not overly boozy.

They always have a great selection to choose from! If it isnt a sour, then an IPA, or an Imperial Stout!

Highly recommended place! Huge variety of beers and of course Austin will help you to decide what you want. Because of the Austin, we felt here like at home. I wish all of you to have a bartender that makes you to feel welcomed!

Compass Rose has always been a great place to grab a beer and spend time with friends. Theyre protocol, during these times of COVID, requires mask for entry but your mask is not required once your are seated. Table service rather than requesting drinks at the bar but a full menu of what is on tap and bottled is available upon entry. Bonus points for being pet friendly. Pups are welcome.

Great brewery with a lot of good beers on tap. Customer service was on point! Atmosphere was outstanding both inside and outside, and they have a food truck schedule! Moving to the area soon, and Ill be visiting the establishment much more frequently!

This is a nice large space. There beer is great! We really enjoy their Sunday afternoon music performances. They are set up will for social distancing at the bar and have tables well spread out.

When you see it from the main road go little further and take a right. The building is huge, well decorated, and clean. The beer was pretty good too and they have dollar snacks!

Awesome place showcasing a lot of local artist giving them the opportunity to display art. Very nice facilities with the opportunity to bring your own food or have it delivered. They specialize in craft beer and have other interesting events like trivia

My son & wife love going to Compass Rose. I personally have never been, but I love it as well. During the pandemic Compass Rose has allowed my family to play trivia every Thursday night. I live in Connecticut and my children live in Raleigh NC & Wilmington NC, and we all were able to get together through Compass Rose. Thursday is my favorite day of the week now. Thank you Compass Rose!

Nice brewery, but very few beers for people that do not care for lets say; Sours, IPAs, Wheat beers, Stouts(In Summer, when 90 out), Fruity beers, etc.Like many guys(Not under 40), some of us prefer the old school beers like Lagers, Pilsners, Amber Ales, but great, NOT Bud or Coors Light. This place has none of them.I asked a girl there(Blonde hair, acted like a manger,) Where are your Pilsners, or Lagers? She stated Well, we are not really doing those for awhile, maybe down the road later. I know for a fact that a ton of people are going back to Pilsners these days(Especially when HOT outside)Probably not gonna go back due to only 1 beer from menu thats drinkable for a grown man over 40 in the Summer.

I was pleasantly surprised by how large this brewery is. It was packed when we were there on Saturday. There were lots of families and kids. Cool, casual place to hangout. Beer is good!

Went for the 6th Anniversary Bash event, very clean, and I love the art and atmosphere! The staff were super friendly, the band playing live music was awesome outside, and inside the music was pretty good too! The wings by @latinmoments (InstaG) were pretty delicious! Definitely would return again!

They do not serve fresh water! You can only buy bottled water. I am sure there is a good reason for this, but I won’t be going back.

Held our office Christmas party there for 3rd straight year. Fabulous!

I have a group if knitting friends who meet Saturday afternoons at a local bar. We love it there but it has limited inside seating, even pre-covid and when it rains theres just not the space for us. We chose to meet this week at Compass Rose because they have a much larger indoor space. I like amber ales so chose their amber without asking for a sample. I found their amber to be too hoppy for my taste. In no way am I saying it was bad beer, it just wasnt what I expected and I didnt care for it. Their beer was also much more expensive than where we usually go by about 50%. Our usual hangout is not a brewery so they dont have the overhead of Compass Rose. The indoor space is large, they have a wide variety of beer they brew in house. We stepped outside our comfort zone and found an acceptable alternative. Next time Ill do a flight so I can taste their beers and hopefully find something I like. Its a nice place and in addition to a place to gather they host a lot of events.

Really like the atmosphere of Compass Rose, they have a big open space that we were even able to have our engagement party in. The staff is really friendly and theres a big selection of beer too. Highly recommend checking them out.

This was my first review, and my first visit to Compass Rose. The beer they have to offer was excellent, but there were families who did not keep track of their kids, and the noise and activity level got out of hand. After which I suggested placing a sign outside that said pets welcome, children must be leashed.After some discussion with Joshua, their newdirector of taproom operations, I was invited to visit again and tour the brewery. And after further discussion, I decided to expand on my review.The brewerys leadership and employees are committed to providing an excellent experience paired with a variety of delicious beer. Sure, some families take advantage of their hospitality and leave their kids unsupervised. But a business shouldnt be judged based on their clientele.Joshua is already working towards making the brewery safe and welcoming to everyone, and the effort he and the other employees are putting forth should not be taken lightly. Theres no doubt that Compass deserves more recognition than theyre getting, and they deserve a better image than they have. The beer is amazing, and you shouldnt steer away from this place on the threat of another patron being disrespectful.For those of you who have been turned off in the past, I hope you give them another chance. And for those of you who have yet to visit, come see for yourself... And try Devils Demise, its incredible.

Worst experience ever, i have been going there for years .last Saturday my friends and i went there and the bartender screamed at me for going to the men’s bathroom thinking it was next to the women’s. The staff was extremely rude and i will never be going there again . I don’t recommend going there, there are much better breweries around . Do not go thereeee

Extremely large taproom with a great mix of high top tables and normal tables. Numerous selection of beers and vast variety of styles of beers. Good sized parking lot and covered seating with multiple picnic tables outside. Serve snacks inside and have a food truck on premises. Friendly and attentive staff.

This is a great neighborhood brewery. I really appreciate all that they have done during the Covid-19 pandemic - free beer delivery, lots of new beer releases, and helpful updates on their social media pages. The staff is very friendly and helpful, even offering communication and orders via text and phone. My neighbors and I love this place, and are happy to support them through these difficult times. Cant wait for the day when they are able to open for us to come back!

I really like it but stools are high and music is loud. Sometimes the children who are there with parents are very rowdy.

He did a great job in asking about her preferences in order to make recommendations.The brewery itself was comfortable, with plenty of seating and an open feel. While we were they they had entertainment, which was a pleasant surprise.We visited while on a trip to the area to visit family, and would definitely return.

Excellent Beer!! Followed by excellent customer service and ambience. We were souped to find a brewery down the road with great beer, constantly evolving, and with a great place to hang. We enjoy bringing our puppy or solo. Hope you do as well!!

Road past on NYE. I had no idea a brewery was there. Went yesterday to check it out. The atmosphere was great! Super cute and spacious. The beer was great. I loved their cider. They also have wine. They have a food truck but you can also bring your own food. They have games like Jenga and darts. The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable. Can’t wait to try yoga on Sunday! Will be back as much as possible!

We hosted a birthday party at Compass Rose for our brother and it was fabulous! The space is beautiful and wide open, which made it scalable – exactly what we needed since we didn’t know at the onset of planning how large or small our event would be. The event staff was very helpful and accommodating prior to the party and the staff the night-of was friendly and efficient. Their beer selection was, of course, delicious, and the fact that they have a great wine list helped please a wide audience. Everyone had a great time and we’ll definitely be back to enjoy the patio and the live music. Thanks for a great night!!

Fun, good beer and people.

Halfway through our visit, we were told that our table was reserved for 5PM. At 4:30, we were told that we had to leave our table. We had planned on leaving by 5, so we all had half full drinks. I have never had this happen in my life. I recommend if a table is reserved, that a sign should be on the table when the place opens. Also, the actual time should be told when the table needs to be vacated.

We recently celebrated my hubbys 70th birthday party at Compass Rose on a Sunday from 1 to 3 pm. We brought in food, decorated, and had a lunchtime party for family and friends which included kids. The staff were so friendly and helpful with set up, storage, placement, and any other questions we had that it made our event relaxing and fun for all. A number of guests had not been to Compass Rose before and remarked what a great place it was for the party. Thank you to Joshua and others who helped make it a fun memory.

I was there on Sunday afternoon. They only had one bartender. I sat at the bar for 10 minutes before I decided to get up and stand in line to get a beer. I guess if you’re at the bar you still have to wait in line. I guess that’s fine I just have NEVER had to do that at any other brewery. Other people were in line with half full beers because it took so long to get another one.The poor bartender needed help.

I had high hopes for this brewery but unfortunately I did not have a good experience. There is a difference between being family friendly and being a daycare. When I was there on a Saturday afternoon there were more children than adults. I dont mind if children are at a brewery, I want everyone to be able to have a good time but I could not believe the behavior. The children were running around yelling and jumping off tables (if for no other reason this should not be allowed because it is unsafe) and there was even a child running around hitting a ball with a hockey stick! I did not enjoy my experience here but I think it could be a nice place if they made some changes.

We have been going to Compass Rose for quite a while and have always had a great time. The trivia on Thursdays is fun, the staff is awesome, the environment is perfect...really I could go on and on about how much weve enjoyed going there. However, over the last few weeks they have absolutely amazed me at how incredible they really are. My husband and I threw an Engagement Party/Surprise Wedding there yesterday and it was unbelievably perfect. The staff helped me with details to make sure the setup was exactly what we needed, made special accommodations for my grandma who is in a wheelchair, etc. A big shout out to Steve, Brian and Ryan (and everyone else who was there yesterday) for being so amazing! Thank you for the absolutely perfect place for us to have our special day!:)

Stopped by on a business trip to try this place out. Pretty cool location. Lots of space inside and great outdoor seating. Tried the Georgine Saison. Beer had great flavor and was easy to drink. Definitely will revisit next time in town.

A really good looking brewery with plenty of seating and an unobstructed view of the brewery itself through a glass wall. A nice selection of beer on draft, including plenty from the brewery itself.Its kid friendly. Like really, really kid friendly. Also, its large party friendly. And, its game friendly, with a corn hole area set up inside the building.All of the above equals loud and not relaxing, depending when youre there. I get there early and leave early.

Sat in the outdoor area for 10 minutes and a table who sat after us got service before us. I ask the brewery to re-evaluate the service. disappointing first visit.

Compass Rose is lots of fun. Our 2 boys went to a bday party at pro 3:5 next door and my hubby and I went over to compass rose. Lots of craft beers on tap, all brewed by compass rose. They have an open room and good outdoor seating. If I had one suggestion it would be to offer more outdoor seating and set up a mini bar outside. The outdoor space is the unsung hero of this brewery!! You can bring your own food. We purchased food from a food truck. We will be back with the kids. Its kinda like tailgating, which they love.

Fairly crowded. Great beer. Great band. The food truck was good and we also ordered pizza for delivery. Parking is a bit difficult as there arent enough spaces. Overall its a fun place to meet up with friends in a casual setting.

We love going here with other parents and letting the kids play while we have a drink. Theres always a food truck around dinner and the beer selection is always great. Definitely one of our favorite spots!

This place is much nicer inside than I expected. Their beer is good and they have several guest taps as well.Sounds like some people dont appreciate kids being there, and there were some well-behaved kids when I was there, but I appreciate the diverse crowd and the social atmosphere.Its good to know they dont do flights after 6pm-- bummer but understandable during busy times.Definitely a solid brewery to check out!

We had a good time at compass rose brewery and their beer is pretty good... Its a nice place to relax after a long week. It is pretty kid friendly so if that bothers you this is not your place

The beer is good. On the other hand I would rather a business not allow parents let their kids run around and scream like its lunchtime at summer camp. You should come to a brewery to drink and enjoy conversation, not be annoyed by children misbehaving.

I cannot say a bad word about this fine location to grab a well-crafted beverage. I have been coming here for about a year and have found the staff to be incredibly friendly and helpful to both those who are well versed in the fine art of brewing as well as those who could not have a clue about the subtle differences in beer. When I first came to Compass Rose they have a cream ale on tap that both my wife and I enjoyed immensely. Several visits later they had not had this particular brew on tap to our disappointment but were always able to point us in the right direction for a suitable replacement. What truly makes this a great place was that the staff had remembered my wife and I even though we were not a weekly regular and let us know when they expected new brews in the family of the one we originally enjoyed. I truly enjoy visiting here when I have to occasional day off to work on my college classes as well as the occasional Sunday when we can bring the kids to this family friendly environment. I am saddened by the thought that I will be relocating with my family further from this establishment, but will always return from time to time.

Not sure who trained your staff, but if your patrons are able to bully your staff into catering to their music taste & kicking a performer off stage at a planned event, you may want to retrain your staff or hire someone with some balls. Multiple people that are fans of this performer and took the time to come to your event are all completely outraged at the level of disrespect and lack of professionalism that was shown tonight at your facility. You’ve left a big ugly stain on your front doors that will likely discourage other artists from subjecting themselves to a situation like this.

Awesome atmosphere! Good beer! Bartenders last Friday were great. It was 20 minutes until the cut off time to order flights and they didnt mind serving us them. I thought the fridge full of dips was a great idea. Great seating, lighting and Tvs. The only thing that was a little bit of a turn off was the amount of kids that were there. Like a ton of kids! But thats not really something that the owners or managers can really do anything about.

I go every Sunday because it has been the most comfortable atmosphere, served the best variety of beer, and the bartenders are awesome. My friends through my surprise birthday there because they know that its a perfect spot. Honestly Ive been coming since their second month open and Ive loved watching it grow!

Quite literally the best place to grab a pint. If you have a problem with the staff, it is your fault because they are kind/hardworking people. Delicious variety of beers and tons of fun events during the week makes it the local place to be. Do not skip Compass Rose.

Love Compass Rose! Huge open space and great beer! We take our 3 year old sometimes early in the day or evening he loves to run around (respectfully). Great for family or for friends. Friday and Saturday no kids after 8pm so for those complaining about kids thats your time. Craft breweries are known for being family friendly, its part of the culture.. if you dont like it find a bar to go to. Most people dont have young children out past 8pm anyway. Bartenders are always nice and friendly. Highly recommend!

Legitimately horrible. Stay away from this place at all costs. Incredibly rude staff, completely unprofessional manager, the place should honestly be forced to shut down. It’s the worst brewery in the city of Raleigh, in fact, it’s the worst brewery in the entire state of NC. Makes me sick just thinking about it. Absolutely disgusted by these people, never been to such an awful establishment in my life. DO NOT waste your time, energy, or money here. I would rate it -10000 stars if I could. Hope to see this place disappear soon.

Is it okay if I stand on top of the tables? No, but children can.Cheers was a neighborhood bar too, but nobody would have watched it if children hung out there. Why do parents think its ok to bring kids to an establishment that only sells alcohol? And why are breweries so money hungry that they encourage this in spite of adult-only patronage? Because if one brewery does it, others will jump off the irresponsibility bridge. Sad, you could have been good, Compass Rose.

Nice location and ambiance. Beer isn’t great but the big problem is they automatically charged everyone in my group $2 per beer for some fundraiser that we never agreed to! Noticed it after we left and needless to say won’t be back. Bummer.

Very unprofessional place, many community members came out to support an artist/friend performing at their first friday event and the clientele didn’t like the music and the staff ended the performers set early. You should either know your clientele and book someone different or let the artist perform despite complaints. Art is subjective, not for everyone, why punish those who came for this performance? Incredibly unprofessional and shows lack of respect for artists in general.

Love breweries -- particularly this one. Great craft beer in a friendly environment. Kudos to Ron the bartender who gives special attention to his customers....

Great out door area good beer

I really like this place. Its chill and my friends and I like to go there and play board games. Nice tables/ atmosphere. Solid draft selection too.Only caveat: they really need to provide a bottle list. I was trying to decide on a bottled beer and the bar tender informs me that theres no list but that each bottled beer ~$5. Alright. Turns out I ordered a $15 bottle and wasnt told until I asked to close out my tab. Really not cool. I should have said something at the time because thats honestly not acceptable. I dont think the misinformation was intentional; however, having a bottle list would have mitigated that situation entirely.

This would be an awesome place if it wasnt for the fact that people come here with their kids thinking that this is a daycare instead of a brewery. The beer is very good, but the atmosphere is horrible. It would be nice to come here, to an adult establishment and enjoy a craft beer without having to worry about all the little ears and little people running around screaming and generally running amok. There are better places for them to be i.e. the park, home, romper room, Adventure Landing, anywhere but a brewery. In sorry if you can not find a sitter but please refrain from bringing your kids to a bar. Totally ridiculous atmosphere.

Ive only visited once, and it was months ago. Two things that stood out, the noise and ruckus of kids, and below average beers. I wish more breweries would have an 21 and older policy. We had flights, and sampled several beers, they all tasted like pine. Im struggling to go back.

Nice space, but thats about it. Do yourself a favor and go to a brewery that doesnt serve warm beers with a bunch of off flavors.

Family place, lots of parents and kids on an early Friday night. Games and corn hole. And great beer and only $14 to fill a 64oz growler. Pretty impressive.

Nice venue but the beer was very forgettable. They also had trivia and the format made cheating almost inevitable so if youre really into competitive bar trivia, this isnt the place. Ill give it another shot down the road and see if I just came during an off-time for their beer.
