Ordered 1 pound of fudge at 20.00. Was suppose to get another 1/4 lb. free. Bill was 26.75. Asked why it was so expensive. She said well we weight it so whatever it weighs is what we charge. If I asked for 1 lb. of fudge, that’s what I should get and pay for, not whatever they weigh. So technically I paid for what was suppose to be free. Sounds unethical to me. Won’t be going back.
They have seating in the back that is totally disgusting. black rotted peeling paint was all over my friends arm. Horrible experience for the money they charge .the manager could only say I apologize. I was there two weeks before then same thing. . Apparently they refused to do anything about it. Stay awake dirty place.
Expensive as with any candy store. Not a big selection.. I choose a mint truffle and some fudge. Over $35 and I after I left I realized they didnt even give me the truffles I ordered just some random ones!!! Watch your order
First thing you notice is the wonderful smell when you walk in the door. They have gelato, taffy, caramel and popcorn, fudge, asst candies and chocolates (even sugar free), candied nuts and more. I will definitely come back here every time I go to Fishermans Village. You should too!😁
I waited 5 minutes (behind no one) only to have the person behind me served first for some reason. While the other cashier literally talked with her boyfriend at the end of the counter the whole time. Felt bad for the one actually working, even though she made me wait for no reason. The chocolate tasted a little off too.
We along with a few other people walked into this shop about 10 minutes before closing time one of the employees had a huge attitude because they store got busy last minute I assume and she was extremely rude telling the customers they were closing in a few minutes the other girl who was there was very nice and helped everyone to get what they wanted while the rude employee continued to snarl at the customers sadly her attitude gets the shop a bad review someone should tell her when customers enter the store during business hours even if it’s almost closing time that she should smile and help the customers wish I had caight her name she had long brown hair
We used to go to The Good Ole Days Coffee & Ice cream, but noticed they had a bit of an attitude. My daughter wasnt completely satisfied with the coffee, so we decided to try Simply Sweet Confectionary Cafe instead. Extremely satisfied. They were super sweet just like the delicious coffee, and theres a nice patio where you can sit outside and enjoy. Huge variety of yummy sweets and great customer service.
Love this little place and so do my kids
What a dilemma. My spouse loves one of their nearly $20/lb candies. I have been getting it for years, literally. It alone would be a 5 for quality and 3 for price, call it 4 stars. But the workers havent figured out how to interact with customers in an open, friendly, and positive way. If they did, their business would double. Recently, out of the blue, some friends told us that they never go in there anymore because they dont feel welcomed. Exactly! Were not alone. Then today, I stop in to buy the $18 worth of candy I always get for my spouse, always packed into a plain white fudge box as usual. A more senior worker said that the fudge boxes are for fudge only but I can buy a decorative gift box instead. REALLY? Ive done this for years. Her response: Well, I dont know whos doing that because were not supposed to. If my spouse didnt love this candy I would have walked out, and told her so. She finally relents just this once to use a 5 cent fudge box. Keep it, Ill use the one I have at home. To the owner; you really need to figure out how to change the feeling in your store. Please.12/20/2018 update. Stopped by for the quarterly purchase of the one candy she loves. You guessed it, they have all the candies theyve always had, but have stopped carrying the single item I regularly purchased. They have it in dark chocolate, but no longer have the milk chocolate version. Wow. Changing my rating to a 1 star but wish I could give zero.
Chocolate-covered potato chips!
This is a nice little candy shop located in Fishermans Village. They are actually right at the entrance, so you cant miss them. And, it makes it easy to make a quick run in to get some goodies. I have actually been looking for a place that has good fudge in the area, but I hadnt found one that I liked until now. They have a large selection of chocolates, fudge, gelato, and candy. I bought some fudge and they were all fantastic. I also bought some chocolate covered pretzels for the my kids, and they loved them. They have some fun flavors, not just the standard chocolate/white chocolate. The store is a little small on the inside, so it can be hard to move around if it is packed. But, definitely worth the trip, and I will be going back.
Great candy store. was there on Valentines Day and it was packed. In addition to usual handmade candies, fudge and ice cream, the also have many sugar-free and gluten-free options. The staff was very courteous and helpful.
My first experience here was great. The gelato ice cream is heaven, especially the espresso flavor I got.The whole place smells delicious, like pralines. My husband got a selection of chocolates. Children would love the range of toy-like candies. Even I was tempted.Theres outside seating around the corner of the shop thats peaceful and shaded. I dont think a lot of people know about it because the whole building was packed with people (it was a Saturday during peak tourist season) but the seating was kind of tucked away.
I really like all of the candy at the candy shop the gelato is amazing and I will be coming back for more.
Speaking from my own experience, the customer service here was wonderful. I was greeted as soon as I entered by friendly young ladies and I was offered samples and assistance with my decision. In terms of pricing, I expect nothing different. Fisherman’s village is THE tourist attraction of Punta Gorda. You’ll pay $100 for a pair of jeans or $10 for a bath bomb but complain about $5 for a quarter pound block of fudge? (Which is delicious and home made). For those of you leaving such harsh reviews, maybe you should keep an open mind and not be so quick to judge.
Lots of sweet treats here! Lovely little candy store with hand made candies. Florida/tropical specialty candies availiable. A unique shop definitely worth checking out.
After visiting a Venice confectionery shop yesterday, it made me realize how great these guys are! Chocolate fudge & Maple fudge purchased were Extraordinary from here!!!! Definitely will be back (even though we are Englewood now)
Candy is ok but too expensive
Salt water Taffy is amazingly soft and delicious. Caramel corn is the best Ive ever had and didnt get stale after opening it, even after 5 days. Wish I could order some to Michigan.
One of my favourite shops to go into at Fishermans village! A great place to shop for all kinds of goodies (I personally absolutely love their original chocolate fudge!)
Nice place. Full of all kinds of sweet goodies. Store clean & staff friendly & helpful.
I got the chocolates for my Birthday. It is the WORST tasting chocolate ever. They taste stale. I think that one star is too high of a rating. My left over halloween chocolates from 2 years tasted fresher. I would NEVER buy a piece of candy from this place. It gives a terrible name to Home Made. In addition, the price was a complete rip off.
First time trying this place and won’t be coming back. Unwelcoming environment and total lack of customer service. There ice cream was okay but nothing special. Reading other reviews, it seems like they need help training there employees on customer service and communication skills.
Very nice, but the candies are bit to much on the sweet side. (LoL) thus the simply sweet name.... :) ... what I actually mean to say is for sweets to be tasty and sweet they need the sweet in accordance with other ingrediants so in a blind test you can tell one thing from another. And if one over does the sugar, everything starts tasting the same with different texture feel. Basically one cannot tell a difference from eating a spoon of sugar vs truffle chocolate fudge... so in my opinion a good sweet store has mastered the mastery of making sweets, they are not there yet... will go back to try again but for my dollar I will mainly stick with other better places... but customer service was great, and had a very pleasent atmosphere.
Loved the gelato, loved the soft serve ice cream, the block rasberry cheesecake by the pound was good and sweeeet!!!
Super yummy plus very sweet employees!
Such good treats! Would highly recommend this place to anyone.
The ladies working there were very kind and gave us multiple extra things for free with our purchase
Candy is stale and the bottom of one piecehas a whitish color its so old I got a small piece of fudge and it is hard and stale and horribleStear clear of this place
Overpriced and undeserving! I can honestly say I wont return. Ive been a loyal customer several times a year for years, but have never felt appreciated. The fudge is hit or miss, when it is good it is great, when its not, it just tastes old. Sample first (which seems to bother them) or save your money and yourself from awful customer service! Unfortunately customer service is something that is seriously lacking here. I went in for some fudge and gelato. The environment feels very unwelcoming, there are no pleasant hellos, smiles given, or any thank yous for your business. I purchased what I thought was a 1/4lb of fudge (what I asked for) and it was $8.19? That seems insane! Im guessing she gave me a 1/2lb, which is also steep ($16lb is very high, but not unheard of). We also ordered the gelato, the roasted pistachio was very good, but the chocolate mocha tasted off, freezer burnt, with a weird textute. There was no way I was going to complain in what feels like a very stiff and unfriendly establishment. There was one young girl working who was nice enough, smiled, and was polite. Im not sure what got into the rest of the staff, but this was the least busy it has been when Ive visited, so no necessity to act rushed or seem rude to your guests. If you cant offer courteousness, you dont deserve my money. Note to the owner your staff needs some serious attitude adjustment and customer service training towards your paying clientele. This wasnt my first visit, but definitely will be my last. Very disappointed..
It may be $8 for a lb. of taffy, but, it’s the best taffy I’ve ever had. I live here and I will be going back to get more.
Great sweet shop. The fudge was excellent.
Very tasty ice cream with very generous servings!
So many choices of ice cream yogurt candies lot of fun for kids and adults as well
I have shopped at Simply Sweet several times. Staff was friendly and the items I purchased were fresh and tasty! Every time I visit Punta Gorda I shop there! You can spend your money as you choose! If you think the price is too high buy your candy from a vending machine or the checkout at Walmart! It’s a Specialty Store folks and their target market is tourists more than locals! If you think the price is too high it probably is for you! The rest of us will enjoy going to Simply Sweet Confectionary Cafe and enjoying the items they sell!
I was there at 5:30 pmI walked in, the two girls working neverSaid hello or can I help you. WantedDesert for my family . They were more worried about how soon they were done working ( if you call it work ) andTexting . Its sad that there is so muchLack of work ethic .
They even have sugar free chocolates
Dark choc caramel sea salt fudge is fabulous
Nice shop, clean and bright.
When it got busy they stopped giving free samples unless you were going to buy the fudge
$8.00 for one half pound of salt water taffy? Are you serious?
