Not a bad experience. When I went they couldnt quite figure out the sound, so things were muddled and the balance/mixing just wasnt quite right. I didnt expect much though for a hole-in-the-wall place. I think Imagine Dragons and Neon Trees may have gotten their start there. I saw oh!no?ok there and they were really good. One of my favorite places to enjoy a local concert! They’ve definitely suffered a lot because of COVID and could use donations. I think they should start hosting concerts that are online for people to watch on Zoom or something, then charge people for a meet and greet online with people’s favorite musicians for those interested. Then they can get their business up and running again. Just my thoughts.

Provo has a flourishing local music scene, and Velour is the starting point of it all. They do shows most weeknights (open mic on Wednesday currently), but the best ones of course are on the weekends. You can trust that the bands on Friday and Saturday nights will be incredible, even if you havent heard of them :)Family friendly, cool vibes, but be sure to bring cash since they dont run cards.

It‘s hard to adequately encapsulate how much of a treasure Velour is. Nothing in the greater Salt Lake area compares to it.Impeccable taste in bands that are booked at this venue. Simply magical musical events happen here.Other great events like comedy nights, arts fest, film screenings/festival, “sleepover” nights (bring your blanky) - the list goes on.The design of the space is atmospheric, compared with its early days as essentially a black box theater with a stage.Cozy space. No bar, drinks or food. Just music. VIP area to reserve. Weekly open mic night. Minimal parking, street parking only. Get there early or buy tix early for certain events.

No other place in the Valley can boast such a commitment to promoting live, original music. The Velour has such a committed following that many bands have been promoted to take the leap and start up simply because they know they have a great shot at an audience here. The Velour is a great local spot for live music. This was the springboard for many bands including Neon Trees. Great atmosphere with vintage music memorabilia and decorations. I have been there three times now. The first time I wrote it off as a fluke. The second, I thought, hey, maybe they were really busy and they were having a rough day or something. The third time, I decided, nope. The employee there that deal with the patrons have no people skills and are very rude. They do not know how to provide adequate customer service. And the venue is regularly late at starting shows. Last time I went, there were roughly 250 people (yes, I actually counted) standing outside in the cold (it was 21 degrees) over a half hour after the show was supposed to START. Wow. Granted, someone at Velour has either good connections and a good taste in music, or luck, or both to have come across some successful music artists, but as for the facilities and customer service, this place stinks. The atmosphere was kind of interesting, but the place is consistently lacking maintenance and presentation. I have been to house shows lived in and ran by college kids and teenagers that were more respectable and successful than this place. I know a lot of people really like Velour, but this has been my experience and my perspective. I hope they improve.

I really like the Velour. My husband and I go to open mic night a lot and last night we went to battle of the bands. It’s got a cool vibe and stage is cool and the price to see shows is usually pretty cheap. The only thing I don’t like is there’s like two small benches where you can sit. You pretty much have to stand unless you get there first. But I guess usually people like to stand so that’s ok.

This is a great place to see local bands and upcoming musicians. I still remember seeing Imagine Dragons play here for the first time. One of the local favorite concert venues. It is a smaller venue but it does allow for some great concerts. The place has unique decor and I had a good time at the concert I went to. The bathroom is located behind the stage, so if you happen to need to use the restroom while a concert is going, it is like everybody is watching you go into the restroom. Of course that is just psychology because most people are just paying attention to the band on stage and not somebody walking on the side. I was glad I was able to buy my ticket online so I didnt have to worry about getting a ticket at the door.

The establishment is surrounded by great restaurants and antique shops. It gives the feeling that the venue is a part of a bigger community. They always ask for cash only, so hit up an ATM before you arrive so you can pay for cash cover to get in.Inside the venue is like entering one of the neighboring antique shops. There are all sorts of amazing antiques you could stare at for hours and wonder what each ones story is. My favorites were the massive bison head, the old Pepsi mural that is half gone on the now exposed brick wall, and the old childs bike theyve managed to cast a shadow of on the wall. All the bands I have seen here are incredible. Velour really takes the initiative to have a great reputation so the best local talent will want to perform here. They have hosted some big bands when they were still young such as NeoTrees and Imagine Dragons. You will enjoy your concert at the Velour. You will not find alcohol or a lot of seating. But you will find a good sound system and quality music to enjoy. Before you get there feel free to find one of Provos amazing local restaurants and feast away before your musical entertainment as well.

The musicians are great and the ambiance is good too, but you need to pay with cash. There isnt an option to buy food and the drinks are limited. Its a very cool, hipster, groundsy vibe to watch rookie artists with good lighting but it needs a little cleaning up as well as an updated system. Probably could do with a SQUARE card system.

I live close by Velour so I go all of the time and its always been so awesome and fun. Last night my friends and I went, we got there and started to walk in by opening the doors without realizing they were still locked and an employee glared at us until we walked away. Honest mistake. The second band went on stage and the same employee approached us and told us we needed to keep it down or she would have to ask us to leave. We werent even talking when she came over. Also we were using our regular voices (not yelling) and commenting on the music and just having a good time. We decide to just leave after that... the employee then proceeded to glare at us all the way until we walked out of the doors. We were there to support a friend. Literally a huge waste of 10 dollars. Didnt know you werent allowed to talk at Velour 🙄. Other then that its a fun place and cool environment, but I wont be coming back. ✌🏻️

The place is great. Weird really. Strange decorations, but thats the owner for you. Hes got a buffalo head hanging above the desk. Want an idea of what Im talking about? Corey Fox has done so much good for the music scene here in Provo and has sent bands to the national stage with his springboard that is velour. They only downside is that theres just one tiny old bathroom they could definitely renovate a bit but its not a huge deal. Check this place out!

I think the reviews here are of the talent. Yes, the talent that comes here is amazing. Really, second to none. But the the place is horrid. It is dirty, run down, too cold, too hot, terrible sound system, terrible acoustics, horrible lighting. Basically, a goths nightmare that stereotypes Halloween and garage bands as synonymous. Also, dont get me started on the joke of a snack bar... I am afraid to sit on the furniture. And, I wonder, would anyone survive if the place caught on fire? I think the only reason good bands come here is out of respect for a few bands that made it big. I think the place is surviving off their legacy.Seems like they have had an opportunity to make some money by just improving the food options and cleaning it up a bit, but they seem to be fine with not making any changes. I am curious to see how long they will survive on legacy and location alone. Will I go again? Maybe, if it is important to a band that I support. But honestly, if I can see that same band play somewhere else, then Ill likely pass on this joint.
