Lovely tea ceremony experience! highly recommended! The ambiance is wonderful and the host was so charming and pleasant! 🥰 🥰 🥰
Nestled into the corner of Thayer and Angell streets is this amazing café that you absolutely must try (again, and again, and again!) They’re beloved, responsive, and fun on social media, which is a lot more than you can say about so many other places that simply talk AT you, rather than interact WITH you.Known by many for their amazing frozen Teddy, which we delightedly purchased as an (adorable) shot of espresso for each of our lattes, the place is such an incredible standout in so many ways. The interior is definitely your modern, minimalistic, cool café; the warmth is definitely provided by the kindness of the knowledgeable baristas, who assured us which items are vegan. To wit: bravo for providing vegan boba tea, and brilliantly turning that into a delicious and creative boba tea latte! On a day in which so many were carelessly walking around the area without masks, being aggressive to one another, being inside here was such a nice reprieve from the outside world. Especially if you’re a Brown University student, I imagine you’d really get a kick out of seeing your mascot adorably float inside your coffee while it gives you the jolt you need to study extra hours!
Lovely new tea house on the East side. Compared to Shasteâ, the selection is quite small, but I have a feeling that it rotates often. The signature here is a tea ceremony, where a server will bring 3 small pots of a tea of your choice out over the course of your visit. It feels really fancy and is great for a date or catching up with a friend. The atmosphere is very modern and elegant, but the prices are pretty reasonable. Looking forward to being here a lot in the summer!
This place is awesome! It’s a bit pricey but for a reason; their drinks are really good quality. It’s very nice to sit in and the people who work there are fun to be around!
They are still decorating, don’t waste your time. For the owner of this shop, if you are decorating, just update your information to avoid wasting everyone else time. Don’t put store is still open to the public.
Delicious Iced Lavender Matcha! Not to sweet, perfect balance! I need to remember they are moving down the road next time I’m in the area.
The best cafe I’ve been to in years! I was so happy to find this place, they have a great variety of tea and coffee. I was highly impressed with their strawberry matcha and lavender matcha. The staff were so kind! The ambiance of the cafe was also incredible, I didn’t want to leave! If you’re looking for a cafe to get some good Japanese or Chinese teas, this is the place!!
The Tea Ceremony was fantastic! Weve been to tea tastings before (both in the US and Japan), and Im quite particular about my single-estate teas. This was possibly the best one yet! We tried an oolong, black, and thin matcha. All were excellent and Id particularly recommend the black Original Lapsang Souchong. Ive only had the smoked version before, which can be a bit one-note. This one was wonderfully complex, strong and slightly bitter, but also had a berry-sweetness.The owner was also most helpful, and happy to provide expert knowledge on everything tea related. Were definitely coming back!
Many of the items advertised are either not available or only available in the afternoon.
*I originally gave 3 stars and complained about the prices. After visiting again when they reopened, observing their social media, chatting with the owner, and trying even more of their food, I completely misjudged. These folks are a 5 star place, period. They have a huge selection of reasonably priced Asian foods you cannot find anywhere else including dango, huge mochi, hot sauces, wagashi, special teas, milks, pottery, etc. All their food and merch is locally sourced or from carefully selected makers, and the quality shows! Ive had several of their teas and foods and its top notch. I brew my own loose leaf tea from my collection and it doesnt even come close to theirs. Their hot teas are served at a perfect sipping temperature, steeped perfectly, and they offer unique flavors along with it. The ice based teas, lattes, etc, are also wonderful.Lastly, the owner is amazing! Helping out front, answers questions and looks for feedback on social media, and clearly cares about her business and staff. I rarely see a local business owner care this much, its insane! This is a local business you should absolutely support.
My new favorite tea place. Exotic selections. Always delicious.
Strawberry matcha latte was amazing. The homemade strawberry syrup really pairs well with the matcha. Add on a matcha Teddy, frozen matcha that dissolves as you drink, for some fun.
This tea house is simply put amazing- the interior is so gorgeous. If you like tea you have to come here! Their small batch teas are truly some of the best I’ve ever tasted, you can feeL all of the love that has been put into this place. Easily my favorite place to go on Thayer street.
Absolutely love this place. Their matcha is the best Ive had, and they sell it to take home and make yourself as well! Very excited for the espresso and fall drinks theyll have soon 🧡
I am a bubble tea aficionado who recently moved from Boston, and after trying every boba spot in Boston and NYC, did not have high hopes for finding a good place in Providence. My initial Google search for “bubble tea” actually only yielded the Kung Fu/Vivi spots initially, until I stumbled across Ceremony one day. It is now my current favorite boba spot of all the places I’ve tried. They clearly source only the best ingredients and have such delicious and balanced drinks. No crazy sweetness or fake creamers, and such an interesting + delightful rotation of seasonal drinks (I’ve tried them all and love them!). Their Brown Sugar Boba is also the best I’ve had, though I will say that a couple of times it hasn’t been perfectly done, and sometimes it’s not ready (so plan to go mid-later in the day). As someone who makes boba at home, I realize it’s hard to make small batches consistently, so I give them lots of credit for nailing it most of the time. If you happen to go when it’s not perfectly done, give it another try - it is absolutely worth it!
Amazing new tea spot on Thayer Street! Best Matcha I have ever had and the interior is beautiful! The owners truly care about fairly sourcing tea and about giving credit to the farmers overseas. They frequently travel to the farms and have direct relationships with all of the farmers.Such a cool idea to bring tea ceremony culture to Providence!I will definitely be back!
Such an amazing spot! What a great addition to Thayer St and RI in general! You can tell the passion that went into creating this shop and I can’t wait to bring more friends back with me :) I’ve only been twice, but already planning another visit! P.S. the tea cappuccino with oat is to die for!!! The tea ceremonies, too!
Such a great place! We went in just to grab a cup of tea, but ended up staying for a Tea Ceremony, which I highly recommend. It was a beautiful, educational, and delicious experience. The staff were all courteous and knowledgeable. We will definitely be going back!
The staff are sweet as can be, tea is affordable and delicious, and the shop is very relaxing and well put together, definitely coming back when I have the money!
Get the milk tea! Or a latte! Or anything! Seriously, everything is delicious and so well prepared. Price point is great too!
Never disappoints. Highest of quality tea products offered, always friendly service and every single drink on their menu is impossibly delicious.
Best tea house i’ve ever been to! The lavender matcha is amazing 😍
This is such a cute place. I love how modern and clean it is. The people, especially the owner are very knowledgeable about the different teas from Asia. Finally, there is an authentic tea shop close to home! Providence was definitely lacking in this area. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The Adzuki Matcha was delicious! It goes great with the pineapple cake. I highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area!
In Love! I love the uniqueness and fresh-upbeat environment. Oh, the drinks aren’t too shabby either. Seriously though, just try it and get out of your comfort zone with your usual drinks. The lavender matcha tea w/ oat milk and the lavender Keemun latte w/ oat milk are soo good, but there are options to perfect your own unique drink.
Seriously the cutest tea shop with the best atmosphere. Also the Kim K sinks at the bar! Just wow! You will feel transformed after your visit to ceremony! Can’t wait to go back.
I love this place. Their drinks are phenomenal- especially the matcha. My only complaint is the hours- they make it quite difficult to go frequently.
Small but well curated menu. Its evident that the staff is new and still learning but they were very warm and helpful. The tea was delicious and the hospitality was refreshing
Awesome concept! The tea is delicious and the atmosphere is delightful. Stands apart from other tea shops
One of a kind! Beautiful spot with a wonderful menu! Every tea lover should visit.
Awesome spot! Love the atmosphere and the tea is delicious. Providence needed a little tea in her life and Ceremony PVD is the perfect addition to Thayer St.
So glad to have an authentic tea house in Providence! Their ceremonial options are wonderful, the staff is very knowledgeable and the snacks are tasty!
The best Matcha latte you’ll ever have. Providence needed this place for a while. Beautiful esthetic with a great selection of Tea!
Cool spot on Thayer with incredible teas. Really enjoyed the Ceremony experience and the Matcha Lattes!
Such a great addition to Thayer Street. I learned so much about tea during their ceremony service, and their Matcha Latte is amazing!
Best ever teaGreat place and the owner Michelle explan everything she was helpful all staff were friendly
I went in after hearing how good it was and was SEVERELY disappointed in the way they treated me and friends - not going back. The way the owner treated us was entirely uncool and not needed
Good tea and good service. I highly recommend the bug bitten Taiwanese oolong.
The only reason I went there is no longer there- -5 out of 100 if I could. Terrible service the owner was horribly rude
Great tea shop, lovely atmosphere !
Terrible customer service from the owners I should add. Michelle was super condescending
Food is tiny and adorable and the tea was great.
Authentic tea house with gong fu service, the kind you’d be hard pressed to find on the east coast outside of NYC. They source their own teas directly from Chinese farmers so you know it’s legit.
Not cheap, but well worth the money
Tea isnt particularly special or good
Exquisite!
