Terrible employees. Rude and have no customer service skills. Today here was a young lady (Her name started with a C) working self checkout and I asked her if she could scan the 2 cases of water for me since they are heavy and I’m pregnant. She gives me a smug looks and then refuses to make eye contact with me and tells me they dont scan water on that side of self checkout, only at the self checkout by the main entrance and basically have to do it myself. Now I know that’s I lie as I come here very often. As she tells me this she has her arms crossed and she just walks away. She didn’t even offer to pick them up and scan them. She went back to her computer as I struggled trying the scan a case a water twice..while pregnant. Such class that employee had… Do better hiring employees Kroger.

Have a pint before shopping, you can find most anything you are looking for here. Good prices and halfway decent produce and fresh meats. Pickup and delivery available but shop in store and visit the Tap Hunter.

Awesome staff. Everything you could want in this store. Fresh fruits and vegetables, meat and seafood and everything in between. They have clothes and houseware, health and beauty, home goods and even a Starbucks! Stop in and check them out!!! I will be back often!

This store location has a few young ladies that are super professional and polite, if I had a store I would definitely hire them.

This place has really gone down hill since opening a few years ago. It used to be clean and well equipped with a variety of grocery carts and baskets. Went in today and all the shopping carts were gone. Stopped by the front desk to let the representative know. She looked at me and didn’t acknowledge me after telling her the grocery carts needed replenishing, continuing with another transaction instead. I used to enjoy coming to this store to escape the monstrosity that is Walmart across the street. Now I will avoid both and drive further away to enjoy cleaner shopping and nicer customer service.

Sorry customer service. I shop early... 6 to 7 AM. They rarely have a cashier line open. All self check out.At least a third of the time in the last year Ive left my cart load of groceries at the seflcheck out because nobody eas rhere to help with coupon problem or verify sge for alcohol purchase. Today was last straw. Entering self checkout area i told the 3 employees gossiping there Im going to need help. Im buying a can of beer. One said Ill be there in a copule minutes. There was another employer standing beside a self checkout station so i headed there. I scanned my can of beer and alarm sounded for age verification and the employee 2 feet away from me started walking away. I said I need some help here. She said not my job. Thats hers pointing at one of the gossiping group. I left cart load and walked out. Piss poor customer service.

This Kroger is by far my favorite one. The workers are always so nice. They have the freshest and long lasting produce compared to the other ones and their store is ALWAYS super clean! I live in Norfolk so the drive is a bit far but it’s always worth it!!

Store is always clean. Portsmouth Police is present in the evenings which allows safe shopping at night. Store has everything you need for your home at a reasonable price; from clothing, shoes and accessories, animal food and accessories, steam cleaners for your carpet, healthy and organic foods, deli, hot meals,. Starbucks, brands name and Kroger Brand products. Recommend getting the Kroger reward card for added discount which also applied to gas station which is also located at this location

I have been going to the Portsmouth, VA store since it opened. I love Kroger and have had good experiences every time I go, usually 3-4 times a week. For the past few weeks things have been different. There is a always much trash in the parking lot, carts all over the parking lot, uncleanliness and disarray all over the store. I dont know what happened, but I may have to go to another store.

I don’t actually remember the last time I went here and didn’t have to carry my groceries around in my hands due to no carts or baskets. The parking lot is always littered with trash and carts all over the place.

Great place to shop besides Wal-Mart.

I go here very often and have little to no problems getting what I need. The time it takes to get out is always a bit long unless I know exactly what I want and thats because Im always window shopping, theyre doing a great job on staff and a great job on their deals. The exterior is a clean design, Im happy going to a good looking store.

Theyre still reorganizing a bit so its a bit disorienting after shoping there for so long but were getting used to the changes. Theyre keeping it clean, though, like most places, they arent really enforcing social distancing. Friendly staff, good deals, great shopping experience.

We are a military family and have moved and shopped at many locationsKrogers located on Fredrick Avenue in Portsmouth is by far the best shopping experience that we have encountered. They are helpful,curtious and friendlyLast year we saved over $1000 with their combined savings and coupons on the things that we actually use. This combined with the points we get on gas savings is everything that we can ask for. They also have cute clothes at a reasonable price. Returns and exchanges are never a problem.

I was treated so badly at the hot food area that I will never come back ... I was next in line to be waited on and your employee completely ignored me and waited on several others of the same color .... never will be back.... I will also get my gas at Wawa from now on....

Edit: Standards seem to be falling at this store. They are remodeling what used to be the clothing section and jewellery store, but the whole rest of the store has been a mess, too. Even the parking lot has become dirtier. It might be time to start making the drive to Harris Teeter.Original: By far the nicest supermarket in the immediate area; youd have to drive 10-15 minutes to do better. This is a huge store with much more variety in products than a typical supermarket. For example, they have a small clothing section, shoes, housewares, and a large seasonal area. They have a gas station with the best prices in town. The florist is just OK, with a decent selection and good prices but the flowers never last long. The large pharmacy is very good. There is also a money services area, Starbucks, and strangely a jeweler. In the same shopping center is a car wash, a home and clothing store, and several fast food options. Walmart is across the street so you can take care of everything in one trip.

Just moved to the state...sent money by WU yesterday ...the person went to pick up the money today and was given an error report. The money was supposed to be going to (((North))))Carolina. The employee that handled my order appeared to be very young-- sent the money to North ((( Dakota))). This was VERY inconvenient. These younger employees need to stop looking around, stop goofing off and pay attention. People dont play about there money.

As a customer someone lifted her wallet out of her purse yesterday:in her shopping cart while she had her back turned. Credit cards, license, and cash. Total Christmas bummer. Be really careful here in Portsmouth! Don’t let your purse out of site!

Why does it take 4 people to make a sandwich? And why do all of those people openly not know what goes on the sandwiches that are on their own board? They have a paper by the station that says whats on it and its completely different from the advertised board.To top it off, the assistant manager on duty tried to twist it to say they didnt explain themselves correctly but to be real, they flat out put ham on a sandwich that is advertised as a Turkey sandwich, so they knew that they didnt know what they were doing.Just save your energy and dont get a sandwich here before you end up with bread and cheese because they didnt realize that Turkey goes on a Turkey sandwich.

Very unprofessional! I purchased a cake and asked to have, Happy Birthday written on it. I was looking in my phone for the spelling of the name that I needed for the cake and the lady already started writing on the cake. I informed her that I didnt want it written in white I wanted yellow. The manager proceeds to tell her to whosa and then tells me how I should have told her in the first place. Proper customer service she should have asked before she started writing on the cake.

Clean, well lit and new. This location just recently built. Great selection on many areas. Hubby loves the craft beer bar area. They have multiple beers on tap where you can get a sample before purchasing a pint or a growler to take home. They also have growler specials on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. And I love their store brand products. Especially their teas. Happy to have Kroger in the neighborhood!

Love this Kroger. I could spend hours in there. I recently got married. Carrie in the floral department did all my flowers for the ceremony. They were beautiful and very affordable plus I got fuel points with the purchase which helped with gas for the honeymoon.

I really enjoy going to Kroger in general. This location isnt the best of all the locations in Hampton Roads, but it still holds its own.The sales and discounts here are great! There is a nice Beer/Wine Bar and a good selection of the similar for sale.The staff for the most part is friendly and helpful, however there are a couple employees the store could do without; rude and unaware of customers. However, this is the case for most places.

Great super market basically I can get everything I need there. I dont have to go to several stores. Prices are pretty good and plenty of different kinds of fruits and vegetables. There meat department is great never bought a peace of bad meat there its good and tender. You cant go wrong with them.

Krogers has gone above and beyond to kind us safe cleaning carts,keeping areas all clean, and we stay within social distancing bounds. They offer senior hours and have saftey shields for safety for cashiers and customers. Prices are reasonable and you can use points to duscount gas at their pumps.

The meat department needs a better butcher because the slabs of meat are unevenly cut. Also I am big on my Mr goodbars and I know that theyre ordered but it seems like you run out of them as soon as they go on a shelf I feel you should order more of them other than that the store is awesome

Used to be nice when it first opened. Then the started slacking because it’s Portsmouth. I frequently find EXPIRED or near expired food and health and beauty items on the shelves. I hate coming here but it’s close to home so I do it out of convenience. They put in much more effort at the other area stores. Don’t know why corporate allows this location to lag so far behind.

Theres an always helpful staff that drop everything to help you find what youre looking for. Their app is intuitive and helps you get discounts not just on purchases, but on gas after the fact.

Deli was great! Dining area not so much. When I got there at 1300, the tables needed a good going over.

Love it. Has everything you need. Fruits and veggies always look nice and they do have organic options. They have a salad bar and a food bar. If you have never been to a Krogers, i would highly recommend it.

I typically love Kroger, but this location has gone downhill. I utilize the Kroger pharmacy, and even though I typically pay a little bit more for prescriptions than I would at Walmart, I love the customer service and convenience of this Kroger pharmacy and at least I know Im getting a $2 Pharmacy reward coupon and fuel points. The $2 pharmacy reward coupon clearly states that there is a limit to one reward redemption per transaction. I was just at the self-checkout completing the first of what was going to be three transactions I was trying to complete, and I was trying to be kind and letting the lady know when she came over to approve my first coupon transaction that I was going to have two other transactions. She rudely only said, no maam, we had a meeting about that yesterday. Im not a child by any means, she could have used more words to explain that apparently this locations policy had changed, but she didnt. It was just a very rude and unnecessary way to speak to a person when there could have been a more gentle approach. Even if the policy has changed, it didnt need to be presented in that manner. Therefore, I completed my second transaction only because my teenager was at home looking forward to the food items I was purchasing. If it wasnt for that reason, I wouldnt have purchased anything, but since I needed to bring home the food items I went ahead and completed my second transaction and left my basket with all of the other items out of principle. Im very disappointed, and honestly my feelings are a little hurt to have been spoken to in such a rude manner.

I love Kroger but at times I nerd to use the electric buggy. Today was one of those days. 9 out of 10 times the buggy is not charged and it dies before I can finish my shopping. The competition is across the street and the buggies are not as nice but at least they never die on me.

Me and My mother Have shopped in here several times In the Past, Never had any issues. Great Customer Service, Nice Prices, Clean, and Love the Starbucks! However, Earlier Today when we went In there around 3 or 4 PM. When we were on the Beer isle, We noticed a Black Male Employee Staring at us, Like we were going to Steal Cases of Beer. We walked away and got other items, Well when we were in the clearance section in the back, We heard on the Speaker “Security Check In Section D”. We and 2 others were the only people in that Area, So it was Clear that Employee said something to Security. As we were walking to Checkout a White Female employee Walked Fastly in front of us, and Just so happened to Side Eye Our Cart. TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS BETTER!!! If someone is showing signs of stealing, Looking around Nervously, Or Looking Around to see who’s watching. Watch them. If people are minding their business and shopping! LEAVE THEM BE!!! Don’t treat your valued customers like common criminals!! Unsure if we will go back to this Kroger, Do NOT like being made to feel I am a Thief!!!

Easy navigation, the staff will interact with you. Helpful in the meat department and always have someone asking if we are finding what we need. Just a great and comfortable place to shop. I even purchase non food items from there because of the sales and digital coupons.

I love shopping at Kroger great people great prices! I normally shop at collage drive one but I live closer to the Frederick Blvd one so I thought I would just swing in grab what I need and head home. I went through produce first grabbed a few items and I noticed that the ad prices werent there so I thought that was off so I skipped over on a couple of items I was going to get and headed to the meat department again sale prices werent up and when I went to grab a bag of leg quarters I noticed they had new may 21st on top of old may 16th yes today is the 16th but by not rotating that you wont be selling it. So needless to say I wasnt about that, if you arent properly rotating raw chicken what else are you not rotating or properly taking care of. I will continue my shopping at the collage drive one for now on.

I find what I need, with a good number of brand and price point options, service has always been good. I have no complaints.

Dont use the deli kiosk. Its either not working without notice, or the deli personnel just ignore it. My advice is to just get rid of the kiosk service all together. Management did take care of us on the back end, but it shouldnt have had to come to that. Its just not worth it. Other than that, its Kroger as usual! Fresh produce, fair pricing, and the store brands that we know and love!!

I have attempted on several occasions to purchase a product from the cheese bar. But, there is never an employee available to assist me. I have been told repeatedly I must be assisted by a certain female person. I attempted to order by phone this morning, and after 18 minutes of transfers and waiting on hold I was disconnected. In order to post I had to select at least one star. Zero stars would better represent the service I received today.

This store is a lot more quieter and peaceful to shop at then the other kroger stores because theres not a whole lot of annoying and rude customers everyone seems happier here even the employees who work here. Ive seen a lot of stores that have bad management and can tell because of how the employees treat the customers. And I also see a lot of team work at this store. Yeah it might be bad for making money but what matters most is the environment because it makes for a great shopping experience.

This store is consistently filthy, bathrooms are disgusting. The employees walk around like they would rather be in jail than at work. Today I complained to the manager, Omar, about the feces covered bathroom. He took a long time to get there while using a cart as a walker and told us he would take care of the bathrooms. By the time we left there was not even a wet floor sign or closed restroom sign, nothing had been done.

I love this location. The employees are very helpful. Everytime Im having a hard time finding something someone seems to appear out of nowhere and ask if they could assist me. They always have several registers and self checkout open.
