This is your average Food Lion in the area. It’s nothing special, but it has the necessities. During your visit there were only two registers with open lights, but one had no cashier. I could not wait in line behind a full grocery purchase for one item, so I left without making a purchase. The store appeared basically clean and well laid out.

Probably wont return again to this location even though the location is convenient for me. Every time I have gone to this store, I end up going home to find at least 3+ items that are listed on my receipt and that I paid for are not in my bags when I get home. Unfortunately I dont have the time to go back and request those items back so every time I shop here I might as well just throw about $20 each trip in the trash as I leave since Im effectively already doing that.

This location can be hit or miss, one day they have everything, and then another you cant even find 2% milk (like today). Sales are usually good and prices arent as high as Kroger seems to be. Needs to do a better job keeping stock of everyday consumables like milk.

This Food Lion location is so convenient to my Olde Towne, Portsmouth home! I can walk to it in just 12 minutes or ride my bike in a snap. The manager has made lots of improvements and upgrades to the selections and freshness of their products, and he is always open to suggestions. I still drive to the competitor for my big weekly shopping, but find myself taking advantage of my Food Lion more and more often.

My favorite Food lion! Clean, organize, food is always fresh and the workers are always kind and helpful. I will never go to a different location. 🥰

Wal-Mart-esque customer service. Everyone, from the cashier to customer service reps to managers, are short-tempered and clearly hate being there.

This has to be the only food lion in the area with no wing bar or any wings in the hot food. Would had gave a 1 star if not for the bathroom has to be the cleanest in all of Portsmouth.

It wasnt well stock. But the cashier was helpful.

Convenient little store. Prices are a bit higher than elsewhere but thats to be expected. They do a great job keeping it clean and well stocked.

Good produce, decent meat selection (they were waiting for the truck today and had no spare ribs or whole chicken). The staff is terrible, was waiting in line behind a woman who was having trouble with something, no big deal. The cashier at the customer service desk (which was closed) looked aroat my wife and I then proceeded to check out 2 employees in uniform and go back to the other side of the area behind the counter. A few minutes late (still waiting in behind the woman have an issue) she checks out another customer who she seemed to know, when asked if she was open she stated Im closed and went back to the corner of the customer service area and started talking with another employee. Have always liked this store but will be giving my business to Kroger or Farm Fresh from now on.

I go to this particular Food Lion all the time and the experience is usually pleasant. Not today. As I was checking out the cashier seemed to be upset about something. As I watched her aggressively scan my items and send them down the belt without bagging it up it hit me. She was upset about having to bag my groceries. My problem is not with the cashier but the three employees that I saw that could have been helping her.

My local food lion they have some of the rudest no energy attitude cashiers of all time this food lion need an all new staff when I come there no greets from the cashiers or staff at all like nobody wants to be there. Next time I will bring my sage and clear all that bad energy out of there.

Its a good food lion they have a good selection of food. You have to always be on your gard here though because bums & homeless hang around the back of the building. Sometimes they hang out in front of the building & will even approach you for money so theres that to always be on guard for. All & all though its a good food lion. If they fixed the bum problem Id raise my score.

Food Lion is not a fancy, hipster, organic food store where the cool and fabulous shop. The store doesnt have a lot of variety or originality but its the most affordable grocery store in town. The store always has good sales. Its not huge but its not small. I like that it doesnt take three hours to push your cart through the store. I can always find a parking spot pretty close to the front. The store is clean and the staff is friendly. Everything is easy to find. Its a good neighborhood grocery store.

About three weeks ago, one of the day shift managers (not known by name) was very inconsiderate and disrespectful towards me, when she refused to check the swipe machine at the register when it kept malfunctioning and declining my EBT and DIRECT EXPRESS CARDS. And when I showed her how much I had on my cards ($114.00 total between the two cards), she became very impatient and disrespectful towards me for no apparent reason. I will be reporting this to the OWNER of this store, as well as the GENERAL MANAGER.😡

I personally like this Food Lion because it seems to be pretty well stocked and Ive always been able to get decent produce here. also the few times Ive needed help with something the employees actually answered my questions in a friendly way and seemed very willing to help me. Also the prices seem pretty good, I believe in most instances they are comparable to the bigger stores. Also they happen to have a couple of great deals on items I needed the day I stopped by.

Lines are ALWAYS long at this location. im not sure about the marketing dynamics of this area and how much of a profit this location makes due to norcom being closed due to the pandemic, but it definitely seems that this location is very understaffed.VERY tasteless are the reviewers calling out the bum ‘’problem’’....you have a choice to make your community better and to help people. if it is really that much of a problem then proceed to another grocery store in the area

There was a gentleman there that assisted me with putting my two cases of water in my basket and offered to put them in my car for me too. The cashier was pleasant and helpful.I enjoyed my visit and will return.

I was shopping and picked up a container of hummus in the deli... noticed there was a dead fly on top of it so I picked up another container, 2 dead flies on it. Then I looked more closely and dead flies were everywhere in the deli cases. Disgusting. I reported it very politely. Two days later my friend was shopping there and called to tell me she experienced the same thing. We won’t be going back.

This is the second best food lion in Portsmouth. I will say that it could be better if the staff knew where the items were. I also have to add they could do better in the checkout like more cashiers.I need to mention that I have several times in the past have people coming over asking for money and cigarettes If you can del with this then by all means shop there. Okay three Star and Im being generous because once you get in the store you should be able to get what you need, reason being they do keep this Food Lion well stocked. Thànks for reading my review. Ehhh. Biggest complaint at this store is customer service. Its really simple...speak, act like you want to be there, bag groceries properly. Dont put raw meat with cleaner. Pay attention to what you are doing.

Store hours are incorrect on Google. It closes at 10pm on most weekdays. Great place to hang out if youre homeless though. The cashiers are a 75/25 split. One day youll get someone who speaks and responds to you, but mostly its just some sullen, disrespectful underachiever that slams down your stuff and is incapable of making eye contact.
