I had not the slightest idea or image in my minds eye of what this supposed outdoor sports&recreation store was or would be. My friend, Benjamin, had frequently brought it up in conversation because of our shared interest in camping and outdoor adventures. So, it being summer, full swing and, how do you do? I gave in to his pleas to check it out. .Its SOOOO FREAKING RAD!I love this outdoorsy recreation Outlet and military memorabilia emporium. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone whos into adventures in natures wonderland and/or those who are into cool things at awesome stores-

This place isnt what it used to be.All new employees. The gear is Cheap Rothco for most of their merchandise it appears. Some good stuff still if you know what to look for. Very little actual milsurp. I used to come here all the time as my go to spot for gear but todays incident left me angry and confused. In a nutshell they challenged my perfectly good return that was within their policy and gave off hand question/comments. Once I did an exchange I paid extra to upgrade to a more expensive item they said I couldnt return the new item and wrote it on the receipt then tried to tell me the brand was excellent(which is bottom tier) and then gave me a receipt after I complained about them breaking their own return policy. They then stated they wouldnt change it in favor of the customer. AFTER I paid the difference I saw they gave me a receipt for the difference I paid meaning if I DID need to return my item I would have gotten less than 10% of my investment. They then tried to give me seven dollars in the return process instead of my $87 total. In the end all was made legally correct (except the bad feeling in my gut) but I will not be doing business again with Andy and Bax, poor treatment, poor quality gear, poor management (who was half the problem).

What i really enjoy about this place is the varying capacity of first-aid kits. I am positive that Lexie Grey and Mark Sloan would have survived if the largest of the fist-aid kits offered would have been on that flight. But Im no doctor, so what do I know? The selection of boots, mittens/gloves, bags, jackets, hats/beanies and various camping equipment is also a good reason to come here. I stumbled upon this place looking for a good, solid pocket knife. I didnt buy one because I spent the last of my money on Greys Anatomy DVDs, but I will in the future, I promise.I ended up buying a belt because I felt guilty about being there for almost 2 hours, because that was in the price range of the loose change I had in my pocket.Cool place.

They did not or do not accept Military Donations according to Cathy the Manager. I attempted to donate my Current Navy Uniforms and they refused. Andy and Bax is my new favorite store ! Went in for my first time about a week ago, my mom daughter and myself were grabbing thermal socks for grandpa (which their variety is vast) and a few items for my eldest whom is 23 and just joined the military! Woop woop ! Anyhow the store is awesome and they have it all from knives to food, from clothing to boomerangs, throwing stars and emergency water packs . This store is a Portland must and I will be doing my gift and everyday shopping here .

This store is amazing they have a wide variety of all the things I could ever hope or wish for. I was able to find everything that I came to find quite easily without having to ask for much help. My last visit I had a rather large list of items that I was to pick up, the staff had no problem helping me to retrieve everything that I had on my list. All while carrying my 10-week-old puppy, which they had absolutely no problem having in their store in fact they were quite pleased to say hello to him. Which I cant blame them considering my pup is absolutely adorable.

Ive heard good things but my experience was kind of bad. They didnt get their surplus stuff in because of covid so I saw empty boxes marked with names of things I wanted to buy. In the canteen section a bunch of things were in the wrong boxes and I got sold one that claimed to be surplus but once I brought it back home I found out it was a repro by miltec. I look forward to coming back in July once they have more surplus but right now all they have is airsoft stuff. For the time being just use Varusteleka instead. Also their first aid section kinda sucked

I really like how solid every piece of great I have purchased there has been. That said, they seem to be a more filtered place than they used to be. That may well be due to nature of todays military surplus: there is more of a focus on single user, synthetic items and less on long them durability -- that and desert sands are very rough on textiles.

I hadnt been to Andy and Bax for many years. The store is better now. Several staff asked if I needed assistance. They had high quality products like $40 wool blankets. They were very nice. The restroom was spotless. I purchased a duffle bag, a head band and a terrific small carry all bag. The owner/manager is a lovely person. I enjoyed a brief conversation with her. She is committed to making interesting, good quality, useful items available for her customers. This would be a great place to shop over the holidays because unlike other stores and Amazon, they have items you will not find anywhere else. Check out their beautiful enamel coffee pots.
