So, imagine the nicest person youve met in Portland. Then imagine if you could turn them into a mattress store. Yep. It happened. Probably all the local pagans. Anyway, it worked. Ive never cared about a mattress store but this one is good.No commission sales staff. Great place.

What a great mattress store. No pressure, they follow Covid protocols. They feature many local manufacturers. They have a great selection of all kinds and brands of mattresses. There are so many choices its easy to get confused so, our salesperson marked all our top choices for a second (or third) look. Very helpful. We have a very difficult 112 yo bungalow with 2 landings to the upstairs. The delivery guys were great!

Great prices. I wish they delivered to Salem.As a retired person I had days to shop for a $2000 purchase. I checked out virtually all the stores in Salem and in some played the dickering game required to get the best price. I only checked out this store since they stocked locally made mattresses. I found their prices superior for similar quality mattresses.

Our experience with Mattress Lot was fantastic — easy parking, very knowledgeable, no-pressure salespeople, and a respectful delivery team. We even had our (very bored) kids with us, and they were made to feel very welcome. It’s clear this company knows what it’s doing. We also purchased two pillows designed for side sleepers, which we love (we may still return to shop the lovely bedding options!). We are very happy and would recommend the store, and their products, to everyone. Buy local!

They follow COVID protocols. They have a helpful staff. They have great selection. Their workers are not commission based so we never felt pressured to make a choice or decision. And importantly, they had the comfiest bed we could find in SE Portland.

We liked the fact that Mattress Lot relies on local companies and just bought two mattresses and a bed from them. We havent had a chance to try out the mattresses ourselves yet, but our guests raved about the comfort of one from the companys value line. The platform bed looks beautiful in our guest room, and we were thrilled that the delivery guys assembled it for us. Delivery was great -- on time, professional, courteous and friendly. We definitely recommend them.

A month ago I purchased a queen sized mattress called the Chelsea and it has been my best mattress so far. The sales associates at the store were all very helpful and knowledgeable as I did not know the exact type of bed I wanted. They took many precautions with masks and mattress and pillow covers so that I felt safe to shop. The prices are very reasonable as well. Plus their free delivery service was amazing when they dropped it off at my door. A great place to make an important purchase.

Didnt know what to expect going to a mattress store in a pandemic but we were quickly greeted and showed around the floor. We were taught a lot about mattresses and found what works best for us. They even have these disposable pillow liners and mattress liners so you can still feel all the mattresses. Everyone was so friendly and attentive

I had called and somebody gave me an incorrect closing time and after driving for a few hours I had found a closed and previously left a bad review.However, they replied to me and were willing to work with me to make it right. I’m very happy with the store and would recommend them.

I wasnt excited about mattress shopping in covid, but the staff made me feel comfortable. You get throwaway covers to use when trying beds. Staff is very informative, but hands off and no pressure.

We came in a couple years ago to get a new mattress. I was recovering from an injury and our memory foam mattress was not cutting it. We came in and was greeted by a very nice sales associate. They recommended to try out pillows with the beds. This was pre-pandemic, and not sure what the procedure is now days. We probably spent over an hour there trying mattresses. We were so happy with the balance of customer service - always there to answer questions, but never hovering to pressure us.At night I can be caught whispering I love you to my bed at night. It was locally made, which is great. The delivery was amazing - whoever they. use was able to squeeze it up our tiny stairs. And the pillows are one of our favorite things. It really adds a lot to the your sleeping experience. Dont look at it as an upsell yall, get the pillows, you wont regret it! Also - no negotiation is great for us new mattress buyers. I did not want to deal with that BS. We recommend this place to all our mattress buying friends. Remember - your mattress is a 10-15 year investment!

Weve bought several (I think seven) mattresses over the past few years from the Mattress Lot for our home and a rental we have. We keep going back for two key reasons. First, the quality of the mattresses is superb - we love the sleep of the mattresses and several of our guests have asked where they can get the mattresses we have, two of them noting that sleeping on these mattresses at our guest house was the best sleep they have had in years. With all seven, we have not had one issue with quality or wear, quite the opposite - they still feel like new! (I would also recommend the super soft bamboo sheets we also bought at Mattress Lot, only adds to wonderful nights sleep!) What keeps us going back, is the other reason, the service. I am a slow and choosy buyer and I know what I like: the staff are friendly, very knowledgeable about any product I ask about; they are helpful, not at all pushy about which product or price point I am at, and give me time to make my decision. During COVID 19, we had to buy two more-I waited for Mattress Lot to reopen, knowing I could trust them and I was pleased at the precautions they had in place with entering the store, masking, distance, and sanitizing to keep all the product touched free from contact. And on top of that the store is locally owned. I send all my friends there - and Ill be back!

About a year ago I started waking up with a sore back – first every now and then, and eventually every morning. My wife and I concluded that our 20-something-year-old mattress was to blame.Wanting to work with a locally-owned store rather than a national chain, we visited The Mattress Lot. We walked in knowing nothing about mattresses, and hoping for some education – and that’s what we got, from people who knew their stuff.They asked us some questions about what brought us in, and gave us a short but complete course on the options in bedding. They taught us the difference -- pro and con – between pocket coil, memory foam, and latex.Then they left us alone to look at, and lie down on, a variety of beds in each category. They made themselves available for questions but gave us plenty of space to make our own decision in our own time.Ultimately we settled on a natural latex model called The Haven, and sat down to do the paperwork. We braced ourselves for an upsell attempt, but it never came. They wrote up the order, set a date for delivery, and thanked us.We were so pleased with the experience that we went across the street and celebrated with a glass of wine at Providore Fine Foods.A few days later a truck pulled up in our driveway, the old mattress went away, and the Mattress Lot crew installed our new natural latex bed. They even gave us an extra set of cotton sheets as a thank-you gift.Not long after that, my back stopped hurting.If it’s time for a new bed, give your business to some good local folks – The Mattress Lot.

Good selection of local mattresses and bedframes, helpful sales team, and they offer cloths to lay down on the bed to keep yourself and their products clean. Taking covid seriously and doing their best to keep their customers safe. Definitely a good option if youre in the market for somewhere new to lay your head!

Had purchased a mattress from a competitor and had a delivery date. They didnt contact me to alert me of a several day delay. So I canceled with them and purchased at Mattress Lot. They were helpful and got me a bed and frame that I could pick up immediately. Renee was helpful about my purchase and loading in my car. Update 12/13/20: Our sheets arrived and they far exceeded expectations. We purchased the Coyuchi organic percale set, and they are heavenly. I don’t know why we waited so long to buy nice sheets. It makes a tremendous difference in sleep quality. I did not get hot like I normally do - the sheets seem to have a magical cooling feature! Maybe it’s just because I’ve never experienced quality sheets, but I am now a believer. Worth every single penny. What an awesome experience! We love our new king sized bed, sheets, and pillows. We did not try it out in person, but ordered over the phone. The sales associate was extremely nice, patient, and helpful. I can’t believe the mattress was delivered in less than 3 days after ordering. This is a hard time, but mattress lot still went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable- at such an affordable price. I feel like our life just improved tenfold with this bed! We originally came in to lay on a Stumptown Mattress. It was great for the price, but we ultimately went with a different bed in a box. It was a steal! $1299 instead of $3000 due to the manufacturer moving (that we saw online at the brand’s website). It’s been six months and it’s still great. The people were very welcoming gave us a quick greeting and allowed us to wander the store before asking them questions.Overall the purchasing experience was straight forward and fast. They even helped us load a king size mattress into my Hatchback Mazda3. Yes, it did fit. The bed was packaged into three boxes, we just had to remove the first two layers. 🤣

They were able to show me what I needed and wanted, and felt very comfortable with the precautions that they implemented.

We got swindled by one of the big box store snake oil sales people, bought a bed set, paid for delivery to be done a week later. We stressed the importance of having it delivered on that date because my whole house was going into a POD and I needed a bed to sleep on while waiting for my house to sell. Not only did they not deliver on the scheduled date, they didnt even have the common courtesy to call and say there was going to be a week delay. So I called and spoke to Renee who had a friendly voice and got us squared away, with a better quality mattress, for $200 less, and because they are packaged the way they were, we could pick it up in our small SUV! Now I have a bed to sleep on tonight. So glad your company exists. You definitely proved your values and customer care.

I bought 2 bed frames and 2 mattresses. Ive only had the mattresses for a short time, but I like them so far. The in-store and delivery staff were all great - very helpful and professional. The in-store experience is nice - low-pressure but there to help. One of the mattresses I bought had a problem on the first delivery and had to be replaced, and they handled it perfectly. Recommend highly.

This place is beyond amazing. I love the fact that the mattresses don’t have all the smelly chemicals, even the non organic mattresses we looked at had natural fire proofing. Ended up returning our first pic and they did a great job helping us get into a different mattress. Prices are fantastic, so much better than the big box mattress stores. We first went to Mattress Firm and we were shocked by the price and quality difference.

Great store, however Ive never had a customer experience where they couldnt care less whether they made a sale or not.We came in yesterday and today, intent on purchasing a mattress. The mattress we wanted, the Gel Max 12 Queen, was not available until late next month, however we needed it sooner than that as we are moving. We let them know our urgency and that we were even willing to buy the floor model.. they flat out said no. Then we asked if we could get a small discount ($75) if we backordered, they said no. Zero wiggle room, no flexibility, even though we stated we were intent to buy ASAP. It made us feel as if our business was unwanted and unneeded.Sadly, even though this is the exact bed we want and the only bed we kept coming back to, we no longer feel like valued customers at Mattress Lot.@owner- thanks for being just as snarky in your response as I expected. Definitely glad I did not do business with you. We ended up going to SLEEP BARGAINS in Vancouver and got the same exact bed at the price we wanted, without having to wait. In addition, they priced the Copper Lux lower and far more fairly than yours (I hinted to your associate that I would love to have had some flexibility). Amazing customer service from them, SLEEP BARGAINS made me feel valued as a customer, and that they were willing to go the extra mile, especially during COVID. The salesman was beyond appreciative for our business, and went out of his way to get us a great deal on our new bed.

This is by far the best experience I have had buying a piece of furniture. I came in with limited funds and they were SUPER helpful, treating me like any other customer. They also had fast and free (based on my address) delivery. The delivery was right on time and they were very helpful setting up the bed. The bed is super comfortable, but the customer service is really what stood out. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone/everyone and I will use them in the future!

Purchased this ZIG ZAG Full Mattress, OMC PC Full Box set for $644.00 in January 2017 at Mattress Lot. The mattress began to lose firmness within 9 months. It is sagging and so uncomfortable that it is causing medical issues. I wanted to purchase local and support local economy, manufacturer is in Newberg, OR...never again. This mattress is now landfill material at my expense - I am a senior on a fixed income.8-11-2018, an update to the first review. The failed ZIG ZAG mattress was under warranty so the old was removed and a new mattress was delivered yesterday. Slept comfortably without constant wake-ups during the night due to chronic pain. Hope this new mattress sustains its comfort zone. Thank you Mattress Lot for your help.

If you need a mattress, this is the place to get it. They have fancier mattresses and, most importantly, a value line that are excellent. Less money, shorter warranty, but very comfortable. Who actually successfully claims a warranty issue after about 6 months? If it had a problem, you would have found it within the first 5 years I hope. Their value line has a 5 year warranty. These guys are my favorite sales people. I wish other sales people were more like these sales people.

I like the store I bought a foam mattress little over 4 years ago. However the foam sags in the middle. I would expect with the price I paid it would last longer. Now I have to buy a new mattress because my neck hates me. I would stay away from any form mattress.

I always wonder if businesses with hundreds of five-star reviews are too good to be true. Im so glad I got over my skepticism and visited Mattress Lot. The staff was perfectly friendly and informative, never hovering or cajoling. They didnt show the slightest irritation at my staying right up until closing, and they promptly answered my follow-up emails. The delivery people were exceptionally punctual and efficient. I love the values the product range at Mattress Lot represents, and Ive been delighted with my mattress, pillow, and blanket over the past few weeks. What really made me feel glad to have shopped here, though, was their willingness to make special arrangements with me not just once, but twice. It gave me a sense of humanity and community that I cant imagine getting from a big corporate store.

I bought a mattress here in July. I put off mattress shopping for months because I was anticipating a high pressure and obnoxious experience but it was actually no pressure at all. Sales person gave me the lay of the land of how the showroom was categorized but then never bothered me after that which I appreciated, until I came to them with my choice. The whole process was clearly communicated and delivery came as promised.Unfortunately, the mattress didnt end up working out, I found it too hard. You get 90 days to exchange it so at around 60 days I went back in the store to test the floor model I got and see how it compared to mine. The sales person was totally chill about it and super nice. I found one I liked better and the exchange process was honestly so painless I was stunned.. they delivered the new mattress 2 days later and picked up the first one. I even got a refund because the new one ended up being cheaper.I am SO MUCH HAPPIER on my new mattress and overall this was just as good of an experience as I could have ever hoped for. Grateful that this is where I got my mattress, I would recommend them without hesitation. They didnt ask me for a review I just feel so grateful I wanted to tell the internet haha.

Locally-owned mattress store. Clean and bright store with knowledgeable and non-pushy staff. They also have a wide variety of pillows and a small selection of linens. I needed new pillows. A staff member was very helpful and asked questions about my sleeping habits in order to find the right one for me. I was even able to test them out in store. I recently bought my mattress here, and I have to say I had the best experience!I had planned on going and hitting up some of the larger chains like Macys and Sears for labor day sales. Before doing that I picked up my friend and we happened to park right outside this place to grab lunch, so I figured we might as well give it a look even though they werent advertising a sale.All the mattresses were comfortable, reasonably priced, and locally made! After we came here we still went to some of the bigger chains and were turned off by aggressive sales reps and overpriced mattresses. I ended up coming back here at the end of the day and buying my new bed and loving it! They even offered me free delivery although I was outside of the delivery zone.When my mattress was delivered, the delivery guys were AMAZING! I was having trouble putting together my frame and they helped me put it together and got it all set up for me! They were super friendly and gave me a mattress protector.Overall just a GREAT experience and I fully recommend Mattress Lot!

Great overall experience and we ended up with the perfect mattress! Searching for a bed is pretty complicated nowadays because there are so many different materials available. Michael and Mary Ruth took the time to really understand what we were looking for and helped us select a natural latex model that had just the right balance of comfort and firmness.

I was dreading a long, exhausting day out visiting endless mattress chain stores being hounded by commissioned sales people until I discovered The Mattress Lot. Theyre local, they have local inventory, and the customer service is AMAZING. Inventory is excellent and offers styles/ranges for all consumers. Do yourself a favor, go to one place, this place, you will not be disappointed. I even received a hand written Thank you for your business card a couple of months after my purchase. The service was great, but the product is not. We purchased a mattress in May 2017 and have had issues with the mattress holding up - my husband is a bigger guy (64 / 220 pounds) and his side has multiple hills and valleys from his body, side sleeping, etc.The mattress we bought was about $1300, so not super cheap in the scheme of things.Weve moved out of state and dont want to deal with the hassle of trying to make use of the warranty (especially if its just going to get us another mattress that doesnt hold up).I dont know if we just got a singular bad mattress, or if their mattresses arent a good option for larger people, or some combination of the two. I wish wed just invested in a nicer mattress a year and a half ago.

They gave us an education on the current state of mattress options, which was good because I had no idea what to look for.The prices are reasonable and they have some good bargains if youre not looking for something fancy. They deliver and also will take away your old mattress. They seem to carry local northwest brands, which I thought was cool, rather than the big national brands. If youre in the market for a new mattress, you should definitely take a look here.We tested out every mattress they had in our price range and ended up buying a memory foam mattress, which was surprisingly affordable and much more comfortable and quiet than our current mattress. It took us about an hour of looking around, testing and deliberation. The staff didnt hassle us and efficiently wrapped up the transaction once we picked one.

Firstly, if ever there was a time to buy local in Portland, now would be it. Mattress shopping is a huge, arduous task, it has been for me at least. Having been seduced by the ease and risk free online options - I truly didnt like those mattresses at all and it felt like shopping at Walmart to be honest. And when you return those mattresses they go right into recycling which felt like a huge waste to me - both companies I tried actually used Got Junk company to pick up my 30 day old mattress that didnt work out. I talked with the Got Junk fellows and they said they pick up for all of them - Casper, Purple, Sleep On Latex - and that they pick them up several times a week. It just felt really icky and wasteful. When I came into Mattress Lot, they were nothing but friendly and very knowledgeable/helpful. They sent over someone to my house to check out the doorway to the attic to see if a king sized mattress would fit! I feel a little ashamed of buying from online mattress places - I know they are people too - but these people are small business Portland people - and I just have to say it felt SO much better to buy from them. And, their prices are similar if not better than the ones I found and researched online. And their return policy - albeit not 100% like the online giants that are making millions of dollars - their return policy is very fair and manageable. I am truly thankful for my experience at Mattress Lot and encourage anyone who is shopping online or elsewhere - to pay them a visit and see for yourself - like everyone else is saying - they have a very no pressure style. Portland is changing, small businesses that I have loved are closing because rent increases and online competition. I truly found a mattress I love at this place, and I felt really good about where I spent my money.

So, I had truly great customer service from here. The best Ive ever had from a mattress store. Im curious however, about the warranty that only covers the mattress if I rotate the mattress every two weeks for three months and then every two months after that? I was not told about this until after I paid for it. It makes me think that the foam on top is going to compress after a few months and I am going to end up paying the restocking fee to get it replaced. Also what a pain in the neck!I read another review from someone who had a problem with the foam, and all of these reviews talk about service and not long term quality. Any comments on my question?

My wife and I discovered the Mattress Lot by doing a quick online search of local businesses. They have great reviews so we figured we give em a shot. I must say the reviews are right! The staff at the Mattress Lot was extremely helpful and the price and delivery speed couldnt be beat. While the selection is vast we were able to find a great deal on a mattress in the clearance section, brand new and only $499 for a queen set. It was delivered the next day and we have rested easy ever since!

An almost perfect experience. Which is amazing because it could have gone so wrong. We were replacing a 10 year old high end very expensive national brand bed. Went to Big Chain Mattress Store and found a similar one - queen sized for almost 2k. Decided to shop around a little and found The Mattress Lot. Found a bed we liked just as much for less than 1k - and it was local. Seemingly a big win. But then after a couple of weeks of bad sleep we decided we had to return it. Mattress Lot took it back - were very patient with us in helping make a better choice the second time. We have now had the 2nd bed for several months and are loving it. Buying a bed is a big and stressful decision (for me second only to cars in dread). Mattress Lot made it a lot easier and better. Thanks

I just bought my second mattress from The Mattress Lot, upgraded to a king size. The store owners are lovely people and so good at placing you in the right mattress. They take the time to walk with you and explain the differences of the mattresses. I am so pleased with our purchase. If youre looking for a new mattress, you have to shop this place.

Got my C-pillow (for stabilizing my back while sleeping) here, saving me a ton of money, since the online prices were a third higher, and got higher still when they added shipping! They also had a new mattress protector for my king size mattress, since I had to replace that when I melted the original in the dryer by accident. Very convenient.

I had a great experience at mattres lot. My partner and I were nervous about spending a lot of money on a quality queen mattress, but there were a lot of options around $400 & $500. I was surprised by how many different types of firm options, materials etc. we also bought some nice sheets! We were able to get 0% financing for six months which is what made the purchase possible. The sales people were perfect; helpful but not overbearing. And they don’t work on commission so there isn’t that pressure that you will sometimes experience. The people arranging the delivery down to the delivery people themselves were all helpful, prompt, professional. 10/10.

It was such a relief to find Mattress Lot! My husband and I had to get a new bed asap when we discovered in a recent move that our old mattress had mold on the bottom because of our old home. Yuck! We were disappointed to have to suddenly shop for a new bed and possibly pay a lot for it.Mattress Lot was a real life saver! I looked up mattress stores in the area and they were at the top of the list with excellent reviews. I was surprised that so many people had great things to say about a mattress store, but after checking them out, I understood why.The staff were really friendly, helpful, and sympathetic to our situation of needing an emergency bed purchase. Everyone was professional, but not pushy at all! They even said that they do not advertise or push sales, which keeps prices low and customers comfortable. I totally agree! We found an amazingly comfortable bed at a great price, and from a store we felt we could trust. I used to work for a company that had a similar policy of great customer service and products, but NO advertising gimmicks, so I always appreciate it when I find other companies who follow that model. Also, the mattresses they sell are locally made, so it feels great to support local business and industry.The mattress selection is quite extensive, by the way. We bought two beds, a mattress and two pillows in this store. The atmosphere in the store is friendly and there is no pressure to buy. I chose a mattress and was told by Michael that it might be too firm for me. I took it anyway but guess what? It was too firm so I exchanged it after four weeks - again they were very nice and patient (I cant remember the name of the saleswoman, Christine, maybe?) and redelivered without any issue. In both deliveries we were given a 1 hour window and the delivery men arrived within that window and were polite and sociable. The new mattress is a sensation and everybody in the household is happy with what they got.

The Mattress Lot is the only place we go for our evolving mattress needs. We walked into this new mattress store about 8 years ago with our baby and bought a very comfortable queen size mattress. Two years later, we bought a twin mattress for our little. Two more years later, we returned for another twin mattress for our second child. Sometime in those 4 years, we also bought a bed for our guest room. Recently, we returned yet again to upgrade to a king mattress. Every purchase from here has been easy for us, because of the customer service. Their generous return policy (though we have not had to use it!) also provides peace of mind. Delivery and setup adds to the ease. A few years ago, I attended a TEDx and happened to see the owners, Mary and Michael Hanna give a speech there. I try support local businesses when possible, and seeing them at TEDx delighted me so much. I hope The Mattress Lot continues to succeed!

Ive been working in Home Remodeling and construction for about 20 years and my old mattress I bought some time over 12 years ago I started to notice that I was having a really hard time sleeping I would wake up all throughout the night Id wake up every morning in pain, back pain, shoulder pain, neck pain. I would go down to chiropractors and Massage Therapy, soak in hot tubs just to try to get by.... I must say I finally made a point too look into a new mattress... I was greeted by a gentleman and he helped me understand what I was looking for I spent a few hours in there laying around on some beds and ended up finding a latex hybrid mattress that work the best for me.... I must say that the day that I went in there was a typical day where I was getting Less Than 3 hours of sleep, I was very tired and in pain... I laid on this mattress in the store for about 30 minutes or so after laying on many other mattresses... I realize that this was the one that made the most sense... I felt rejuvenated after that power nap.... felt more relaxed, alert in just 30 minutes or so... I purchased this mattress... in about a week or so it was delivered... I have to say that this was one of the best decisions that Ive ever made... I have not had any pain and Ive been able to sleep very well everyday since then... I absolutely recommend it to anyone that might be going through physical pain or having a hard time sleeping... to get down there and look at these type of mattresses... I dont normally write a review but I had to because of how my life has changed...

I would recommend this store to anyone in the Portland area. It is not your typical mattress store. Their prices are fair and their staff offers the kind of service you would expect at a high end jeweler. There is nothing overbearing or desperate about the way they engage with customers. I bought my bed frame and mattress here. They delivered and built it a couple days later free of charge. Later, they let me literally borrow a box spring for a month when I had family and friends visiting this past summer. We later purchased the box spring because they were so nice (and we needed it).

They didnt charge to take away our old bed (we live close), the new bed was delivered on time by courteous staff.
