I was tempted and teased by living so close to Salvage Works over the years. I have always been into carpentry, building custom beds to dining tables to whatever came across my plate to make. Salvage works is my GO TO place for Salvage, Slab and Reclaimed lumber resources. They are friendly, involved and beyond knowledgeable. They also have a story behind all the items they have brought in. The heritage behind the company and how they go about acquiring lumber makes it personal for me also.Below are a few items I built from lumber from Salvage Works.Yacolt old growth Redwood table, blue pine boards and other reclaimed lumber for bunk bed, dining tables, and headboards.
I absolutely love Salvage Works and their amazing collection of reclaimed wood and helpful staff. I no longer live in the state, but often fantasize that if I need reclaimed wood for a future project, I would still somehow get it from Salvage Works. This shelving project was my goal and SW had an incredible selection of raw/live edge slabs to make it happen. Teri also offered a ton of helpful advice about how to care for the wood to get this install to really come to life. Thanks for everything! 10 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We absolutely love our custom table made for our dining nook. From start to finish, we had a great experience with Preston and the Salvage Works team. We needed a very custom piece and wanted some creativity put into the concept as we had a small space, but wanted to make a statement. They knocked it out of the park. The table fits perfectly in the space, super unique wood, live edge all around and custom platform base. Preston came to our home to take measurements and took the time to get to know us and our space so he could create a piece that fits for our family. Cannot thank them enough. Highly recommend!
It was so fun to pick out the chunk of wood that would end up being our hallway shelf, and Teri was awesome! We werent sure what we wanted so she walked us through the showroom and told us our options and helped us pick out this gorgeous piece of wood. Its one of our favorite things in our home! Thanks Teri!
I cant thank these folks enough for being so accommodating and helpful in what Id set out to do. I was looking for a piece to become a large serving/charcuterie board for my wedding and they were kind enough to walk me through the warehouse to show me some options and offer some expert opinions. The piece we landed on was a fine slab of maple with live edge on two sides; already planed and dried. The final product shaped into a perfect specimen that Im looking forward to displaying at my wedding and eventually turning into a table for my partner and I to enjoy through the years. A+ folks with kind demeanor, fine product, and expert service.
Can’t say enough good things about the staff at Salvage Works. They were so great to work with. I came to them with an idea out of the blue and they executed flawlessly. My walnut desktop is the focal point of my office. Everyone who sees it loves it. It’s totally unique and will be a piece I keep forever.
Iv been looking far some unique lumber for a special project for my home. Salvage Works had the bill covered! Not only did they have what I was looking for but three other directions for the same job. We went with live edge slab material but it was far less expensive then the other suppliers I visited. Now I can move forward with my project with confidence.
Salvage Works is such an amazing resource not only for beautiful reclaimed wood but as an anchor in the Kenton community. When we moved into this neighborhood to start our business seven years ago they were the first to come welcome us with warmth and genuine friendship. Their staff has always been gracious, kind and supportive. Ive got to give a personal shout out to Teri because she is such an important part of my experiences with Salvage Works being our neighbor over the years. They are always excited to collaborate on community projects and events and get other neighboring businesses involved in community efforts. So much integrity in this family owned and operated business.
Beautiful reclaimed wood found here, along with the story of where it comes from. I love that as I am looking at a board, I know exactly where it came from. I was able to purchase some boards from a deconstructed building from Fort Vancouvers military base, that I used to walk by all the time. I love that I have a piece of history like that in my home. The people at Salvage Works are really friendly and helpful. I love that its primarily run by women, so my wife and I both feel comfortable going in and asking questions. I will say it might be a bit pricier than other salvage yards, but you are getting quality wood that has been dried, cleared and checked for bugs and free of nails.
Nobody better: these folks have the skill, integrity, vision, and know-how to keep salvage sexy. Pro-tip: it’s all about the vintage lumber. Storytelling doesn’t hurt either—these folks care about where their materials come from. A more lively, down-to-earth, gritty and creative team you will never find! Huge shout-out to Teri in the warehouse and Rachel the GM, co-owner and front-of-house—you two rock! You are cool too, Preston ;)
Excellent, friendly, knowledgeable staff and a gorgeous inventory. It makes me so happy and comfortable to find other women working in such a male-dominated field. And so happy to interact with guys who treat me with respect and dont assume Im lost when Im browsing on the floor. Keep doing what youre doing!
Salvage Works is the high standard businesses should aspire to. They have gifted, hard working folks who know their craft and work together as a team. Mutual respect for co-workers is the norm and there’s a level playing field for all genders. I’m so glad to have found them.
Staff is always extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We did some floating shelves in our tiny house and I had never dealt with live edge before. Teri helped me pick out the perfect lumber for what I needed and told me how to prep and treat it properly. Any reclaimed wood or live edge I need, I always come back to Salvage Works.
I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! The mission, the products, the service, and their team of beautiful humans doing good work in our community to reduce waste, re-use, and re-invent precious resources already available to us. Always a treat to go plunder and explore and see whats happening in the shop! Keep up the good work!
Salvage works is more than an amazing lumber yard where folks can get reclaimed and beautifully restored materials . It is a place of community. A place of industry . A supporter of the arts . And most of all a place with a huge heart . I have been a devotee since it’s earliest days and can say that the integrity of the owners and all the wonderful employees of present and past is always very present . And I also want to give a special shout out to Teri . She is often who you may be helped by when you go looking for that special wood for your project . Knowledgeable and able to direct you to what you need . Thank you Salvage Works for enduring and growing and employing so many talented and dedicated folks . Hats off !!!!
I volunteers at the Kenton Womens village and we needed a sign in and out booth so I went to salvage Works and was greeted by Terri and she was very helpful. We wanted product to be donated to the village to have this box built she took the time to sketch it out with dementions and everything. She said she would call me and let me know what they could do, i was pleasantly surprised that she actually got back to me so quickly.Thank you Terri for your hard work on this project.
Love this place, Preston and the crew know their stuff. It’s more than beautiful wood, they are reclaiming wood destined to be fuel or landfill and putting out it into the world. Keep up the good work
I’ve been here twice to get wood for shelves and wall hooks and had a great experience both times. Everyone was helpful and Teri even cut the wood for me. I love reusing wood when possible.
This is a recycling of wood Bonanza. Best ever
Salvage Works is filled with some of the most amazing people and the products that they provide are second to none! I love sharing a neighborhood with them and using their reclaimed wood on many projects at my business! I couldnt recommend them enough!
Ordered custom shelves. Great service from both Rachel and Teri. They helped me meet my budget and get awesome shelves.S.W. has great materials, solid customer service, and has been a long time supporter of the Kenton Neighborhood. 👍🏼👍🏼
Salvage works is a super Rad spot! Had the best experience with their staff and purchasing some reclaimed horse stable lumber! Turned it into the best table! Thank you! Mickey
The woman who helped me provided great service. Covid precautions are taken seriously. They had solid knowledge of their inventory. I was able to find the perfect accent beam for my cabin. Thank you.
My first purchase the Salvage Works - Teri in the workshop was super helpful. The first time I came I didn’t see what I wanted so she put me on a call list for when new live edge slabs come in. She texted me and I purchased a beautiful red oak slab the next day. Looking forward to finishing it for a dining room table. Very happy with my experience. Will be back again!”
Ive been in to Salvage Works several times and have always had great experiences! I like plenty of time to wander and look through the wood on my own but when I wanted or needed help, someone has always been there to help me!
We had a custom reclaimed countertop for our kitchen made and we absolutely adore it. The process from start to finish - from chatting with front of house about wishes/needs to seamless production and pickup- was easy and delightful. The countertop has held up so well and is quality work that I expect to last for ages.
Staff have always been super helpful and engaging when we’ve gone in for lumber, and what comes out of their shop is inspiring! These folks make me want to be better at making stuff.
Love Salvage works! The team has been super helpful whenever I’ve been in. Teri has offered great ideas for projects and has been very helpful in steering me in the right direction.
Wonderful products! Celebrating businesses like this for earth day. We love what you do. @DanaAustinRealEstate
They have great selection. I unfortunately just left disappointed. In the middle of my shopping experience I just up a walked out. The woman helping me. Should stay in the office of learn a bit of customer service. Your tone and lack of enthusiasm sent me elsewhere.
Great place. Awesome and knowledgeable staff who help and care about my experience and my projects. Teri and all the crew are amazing!
In response to the highly sexist and awful review posted below about Teri. She has helped us several times in the renewal of our old! home. She is nothing but helpful, insightful, and knowledgable. Please dont listen to that guy. Hes just wrong. This is a wonderful place that I wish I could buy out on each and every visit. Like, I literally want everything.
Kind and helpful staff, always. Beautiful salvage wood. Planning my kitchen and part of a bath using their materials.
I love salvage works and have always had great experiences there. Teri especially was super friendly, helpful, and encouraging when I was taking on my first woodworking project!
I love going to Salvage Works and always find the perfect wood for any project. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and kind and make the experience so enjoyable!
Thank you Salvage Works. You have an extremely knowledgable staff, great selection and amazing customer service. Kenton and Portland are lucky to have you!
Couldn’t be happier with my experience shopping for a beautiful piece of live edge Douglas fir slab for our house in Portland. Teri, and the rest of the staff there offered exceptional knowledge and service. Thanks Salvage Works!!!
Not only is Salvage Works a great place to find amazing wood, they are also incredible people that are very knowledgeable and are just plain good humans! Highly recommend!!
The absolute best in the biz. They did it first and are still doing it best.
I love coming to salvage works! I joke that my basement is the salvage works showroom south because I have so much stuff from them down here. My black walnut slab bartop, my open shelving, my live-edge Doug fir slab end table and, most goofily, my pine cone shelf, which is the last few feet left I the showroom of the floor from the Fort Vancouver ccc depot. When I bought that a few years ago, Teri was careful to get my email address so she could send me pdfs detailing the depot and the deconstruction project. Its always fun to come to salvage works and poke around and the staff have always been friendly and helpful when Ive flagged them down with questions.
Salvage works is the premier reclaimed lumber location. They have awesome material that I feel so lucky to have access to and a chill staff thats always happy to help.
Salvage Works is the best! Everyone is kind, knowledgeable, and they do amazing work!
Yet another amazing experience with Salvage Works. Extremely informative, on top of things, and patient dealing with us.A client of ours needed some reclaimed wood and easily sent them to Salvage Works. There were some complications we encountered with the clients choice (this was from our client, not Salvage Works) but Terry and the rest of the crew were extremely accommodating and patient through the whole process. Even keeping myself informed of the present on-hand stock knowing we may need more (which we did). Pick-up was extremely easy and never had any issues. This was my first time using Salvage Works for a company/ B2B transaction and, in the past, have used them for personal projects and will return for any future reclaimed wood products whenever I can.Honestly can not recommend them enough.
I am obsessed! My favorite project I worked on with them was for a custom frame for my wedding. It was on the beach and I knew I wanted something weathered and gorgeous. I could NOT have been more pleased. It was the PERFECT touch to the feeling and look I was hoping for! If you are looking for reclaimed wood or unique handmade furniture RUN to Salvage Works in Portland.
I have been purchasing wood from Salvage Works since it opened and nobody provides higher quality salvaged lumber at a better price in a better environment. Teri and staff will always hook you up!
Beautiful pieces/materials - thank you Tera!!
It’s always fun to go to Salvage Works and comb through their inventory. I’ve been going to them for years to find unique and fun pieces of reclaimed wood to incorporate into projects around my own home or for clients.
They had just what we were looking for. Great advice and assistance!
They helped me find exactly what I wanted, were friendly, fun, helpful, and creative. I’m super happy I came here... and will be back!
I really enjoyed my visit here! The place was very clean and organized. It was easy to look through their stock and find the pieces I liked. I couldnt be more thankful to their employee that helped me put things together! She really made my project seem less tasking.
I love this place! We had a custom fireplace mantle created here from an old log cabin. Were now considering new countertops for the kitchen. The staff is helpful, and creative. Great energy. Highly recommended.
An amazing business dedicated to providing beautiful and special pieces of salvaged wood. Visit them if youre looking for a unique and special mantle, shelves, or furniture pieces.
Very helpful and friendly staff! They offer both raw materials that have been salvaged locally and beyond, as well as finished items, such as tables, that theyve built from the salvaged wood. Its a great place for both DIYers looking for reclaimed lumber or those who appreciate the beauty, history, and patina of items built with salvaged and reclaimed lumber.
This place is a dream. Anytime we have a project that needs a beautiful piece of reclaimed wood this is the place to go.
Ive been to Salvage Works 6-7 times now. Really have a great selection each time and its constantly changing. Its a great place to pick up ideas and unique wood.
Wonder place to find nice people and great selection of repurposed wood .
This place is absolutely, positively a reclaimed wood artist’s dream come true. Thank you Preston for your help!
Awesome people. Make me feel comfortable and answered all my questions.
Not only do they have the most beautiful wood, their customer service is phenomenal. Teri and her colleague in the wood warehouse (I forget her name- sorry) are super friendly and knowledgeable- makes hunting for the perfect piece a lot of fun.
I love going into Salvage Works. They are incredibly helpful and the service is top notch.
If you dont love old wood, this is not the place for you. On the other hand, if you do its amazing.
Makers of fine custom furniture and other items. Limited only by imagination and availability of reclaimed materials.
