Since West Coast Findings Co doesn’t currently have a working website, it’s impossible to know what they offer without actually going in, so I’m here to shed some light with my story.Long story short, you won’t be disappointed. They have every metal thing you could possibly need as someone who works as a jeweler (professionally or as a hobby).I am but a lowly millennial Etsy shop owner, but I care deeply about the quality of my product: bracelets. I had all the supplies I needed to get started except for metal. It ended up being a shocking challenge to find reputable, good quality & well priced chains, jump rings, wire, etc. that wouldn’t tarnish, chip, or turn people’s skin green.Apparently that’s too much to ask these days. There was nothing that fit my needs near Portland (only craft stores with overpriced, bad quality, or low stock), or even online (inconsistent, way too many options, way too little information).But low and behold, I discovered West Coast Findings Co in a local deep Google search. I called to ask what they carried. Their description over the phone sounded promising and it happened to be walking distance from my house, so I ventured over with a very vague idea of what I needed and no idea what to expect.It’s a funny little place. It’s a wholesale retailer in a downtown building full of related shops — jewel appraisers, gold buyers, etc. WCFC is in a little upstairs office, stuffy and cramped and full to the brim with boxes and shelves of jeweling tools that I’d never seen before. It’s the kind of place that feels like you have to know what you’re talking about or have professional qualifications to buy from them.We waited awhile while John (the owner, I believe) was helping other customers. I was so intimidated at first, knowing I didn’t appear knowledgeable about the craft they so lovingly provide for, but he was incredibly helpful, kind, and attentive once I explained what I needed.He did all the calculations to determine the quantity of each item I would need for the number of bracelets I’d be crafting, something I couldn’t have done myself (as I said, I didn’t have any idea going in).I was allowed to look and touch and discuss their products as much as I wanted once I had my place at the table, which helped me make better decisions than I would’ve been able to online.I left with everything I needed, price adjusted daily to match the stock market, all in bulk, and guaranteed pure sterling. I couldn’t believe I’d found such a perfect place, I didn’t even know shops like this existed or were available to normal people.Short story long, if you are like me and aren’t quite sure where else to get your jeweling metals & tools, go to West Coast Findings Co. for their vast inventory, high quality, and fair pricing.*It would have been nice to have chairs or benches to wait on, but to be expected considering every inch of the space was filled. They would probably really benefit from a larger, more open location with way more natural light, but no big deal. Their need for a website is almost enough to knock off a star, but seeing how few people are involved there, I don’t blame them*

I stopped in on a busy Monday, but everyone was patient as we waited for assistance. The assistance was worth the wait, as we all had questions, and each question was patiently answered. It is not just the merchandise, but the expertise you are getting at West Coast Findings. I learned a couple of new things and walked out with a new tool that I did not even know existed, but now can’t live without.This is located on the sixth floor of a historic building. Parking was tough, and I ended up in a parking garage near by. Usual stuff for downtown.It also closes at 4:00PM, just as a note.This is where I will be purchasing all of my silver moving forward. Sometimes I just need to see it and feel it, which in why I enjoy this experience over online purchasing of my silver.

I went here based on other people’s ratings of excellent service. Instead, John was condescending and unhelpful. A note to others: apparently don’t go in on Mondays because he works alone and is frustrated that you would try to be a customer when he has packages to mail.

Excellent resource for most jewelry, sterling, diamond and silver cleaning items and supplies. If John doesnt have it, hell know where you can find it! Highly recommend
