Staff is always extremely friendly and helpful. The puppy working there is a sweet angel and should get a raise. Its a small store but it carries a decent amount of everything and even has a paint center!

(I ran to start my truck and I drive to the closest store as usual) had to stop in the middle of the road because my A/c was blowing hot air, stop at the store to get something to drink 2. Spent tons of cash at this store, Now they are the Entitled! Poor service, Rude Managers and rotten Attitude. That is what comes from the Entitled! Service workers are No Longer welcome and treated like dirt!Stock is very low add they just Dont Care!This is why these stores are Going Out Of Business, Few service people will tolerate this.My Advice is go to Any other place and Avoid St Johns Ace altogether. Excellent and plentiful staff. Great selection of stuff compared to big box stores even though its smaller. Go here to get keys made, much better deal than big stores and theyre able to make keys that other stores cant.

Really friendly store with a wide variety of home necessities. Why shop at Amazon when you can pet a dog while buying a hose reel, some matching touch up paint, a wheelbarrow, brush sweeper, deck screws, flag mount, air filter, etc. etc. Theyll help you find what youre looking for.

Generally, had good experiences at this store till today. Looked online for a tool I needed. It was in stock here, so I decided to make the drive (25 min). When I get there they cant find it. It was a garden tool, so not small. I ask for help and they found the larger, more expensive version. Thought it might be a one time problem. They told me this type of thing has been a problem for 1.5 years now. Seems like they should put something online that says availability is inaccurate before they waste peoples time heading to their store. After a year and a half you would think it would be fixed. It feels like an upsell tactic to me. Dont rely on the website. IF I ever go back here, I will call and have them find the product first. That way they wont waste my time. By the way, there was no offer to sell me the tool at the price of the one that I came for. Basically, took no responsibility and just shrugged their shoulders.

Even under the stresses of the day they were very polite and helpful. They didnt know I was excited about buying myself a chainsaw for my birthday and they made it a great experience.

Ive been going to this store from the first month it opened and have generally been able to find what I needed. Generally the service has been okay for me customer service has been spotty. Could be because of negrophobia, but maybe Im overly sensitive to it. 🤔That being said I still head there first before going outside our neighborhood to help St Johns businesses. ☮🙏 Im sure for many of us its now nice to see something there.

Its a small hardware store but there are so many reasonably priced treasures. There is a little bit of everything in this store. It really reminded me of the locally owned stores that were located in St. Johns when I was younger.The staff is friendly and I felt welcomed in the store. The staff was honest and didnt try to sell me products that I didnt need. As a matter of fact, the salesperson persuaded me to buy a product that was half the price of what I was originally was going to buy and it worked perfectly. I will be back.

One of the best hardware stores in town, I always like Ace (they are independently owned and just share a supplier) and this is a good location, everything you need, very helpful staff, nice that its right on Lombard in St Johns.

The place definitely does offer everything you need for hardware store. And I get that given the location it might be why they have every single item that’s more than $10 locked up. But it does make him going in to grab something quick take just a little bit longer luckily there was lots of employees to help you out though

It may not have everything, but this little store is remarkably well-stocked, and it is so nice to be able to support a locally-owned store instead of one of those international behemoths like Lowes or Home Depot. The staff here is always available and helpful, and they have some great finds specifically-suited to our region.

Not happy. I saw online they had wading pools in stock so I thought Id purchase one locally instead of from Amazon prior to the upcoming heat wave. I purchased online and even though I got an email that it was ready to pick up, when I got there they had sold all of them except one that was extremely damaged. I wont be placing any more online orders here.

If this store was a person Id marry it. The place is a fraction of the size of Home Depot and Lowes, but its so well curated I almost always find everything I need here. Staff is helpful, Benjamin Moore paint counter is excellent, garden center is well stocked... This place is just great and Im delighted its in the neighborhood.

Perfect neighborhood hardware store, with a friendly vibe, carrying everything weve needed for our home, and the customer service is very welcoming and youre treated as a neighbor the same as you would in a small town.During the Covid-19 pandemic, We recently placed an online order for a window a/c unit, got it $18 cheaper than all other competitors and the order was ready in two days, the pickup process was seamless and convenient. I walked in and gave my order info and walked out with my purchase not even 5 minutes later. The customer associate was very helpful, polite and smiled! He carried the unit to my car without even having to ask me. I didnt get his name but will let management know about his great service!Its very refreshing to be treated like a friend instead of a number like weve been by other local chain stores. These guys could teach the major stores a little something about how to show appreciation and value for their customers. Wonderful experience and we are customers for life because of this continued treatment. Well done ACE! Thank you for your kindness and being there for your customers!

Each time I visit, whether looking for help or not (and lets be honest, I usually am), Im greeted with consistently great service and genuine desire from the staff to solve whatever problem, big or small that I have or however particular the product.It is this mentality that sends me long distances to St Johns Ace over the other big boxes that are much closer to me. Special shout-out to Bob in the plumbing department.

Local feel, helpful staff good at helping this do-it-yourself wannabe discover ways to accomplish my latest project idea without bankrupting my limited slush fund. They require masks during the pandemic and have taken some care to encourage distancing by suggesting a direction of travel and marking the floor at 6-foot intervals, but many customers do not follow the guidelines, so Im going there less and less frequently. Maybe I need to give the curbside pickup another try, but so far have not found the online sevice or phone support as helpful as in-person.

This store is the best. Everyone here is super helpful and there is little that they dont have for day to day repairs and projects. Between Ace and Shurway for lumber and building materials weve got our needs well met here in the Johns.

If you want fantastic customer service from friendly people, this is the place. From the moment I walked in, the friendly door greeter asked me what I was looking for and directed me to the exact aisle where my item is located. Another employee helped me find my item and then loaned me the tools and a spot to get it done. In less than 15 minutes I was on my way. I know most hardware purchases involve more time and there is no way to loan tools and a workspace to every situation, but this was a good experience. The owner and the employees are great examples of excellent business practices. If you need hardware and you want a positive experience, go to St. Johns Ace Hardware.

Very disappointed to discover this particular Ace location does not participate in offering a 10% military discount to service members. Apparently it’s up to each individual store. I will not be giving this location my business any longer.

Don’t bother placing an order online for pick up. They let you order items they don’t have! No clear instructions on where to go once you get there to pick up any order as well.

I love Ace! Not the cheapest place to shop but they have almost everything I ever need from a hardware store. Keep customers safe by allowing ten in at a time now. So these days there is like a 1:1 ratio of employees to shoppers. So you can always find someone to help. Their prices are really not bad relative to home depot and Lowes. Ill keep shopping there...

Most amazing service EVER! The big box store didnt have the grill I wanted to send my son. When I called and spoke to Doug, he was the BEST! They assembled it, followed up and delivered it to the new house. THIS is why you need to shop here. Way to go, Ace!

Since moving into the neighborhood, Ace has become our go-to for anything home related! They have it all, seriously. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, Jacobs an expert at paint, competitive prices to Lowes and Home Depot, and the classic neighborhood hardware store feel you dont get at the big name stores.

This is my favorite hardware store always have what I need and more. I am so impressed with their dedication keeping customers safe with their social distancing plan. While I was here, I asked the Helpful Hardware Person how they were doing and they said they were doing good. Said the family was doing great as well when I asked. 😋🦊

I was looking for fasteners. Four #12- 24 machine threaded bolts, with washers, nuts and lock washers. There was a good selection of fasteners but no #12 Size. Number 6, 8 & 10, the next size was 1/4 and on up were available. I decided to switch to #10 size fasteners and purchased those items. I think they will work but would have rather used the #12 size.

I bought a Stihl chainsaw and a few weeks later they sent me two $5 off cards to redeem, I was excited. I go there and they are out of stock on the common chainsaw file I need AND the associate informed me that the tiny fine print on the back of the $5 off cards states that Stihl products, and numerous others, do not qualify for the discount. They sent me garbage with fine print and wasted my time. Done with them.

How this? I do not understand, what is this 2 part epoxy you speak of?

Go here once a week or so, pretty good selection and plenty of staff to bug you

Visited on Saturday morning after seeing such positive reviews on Nextdoor about how they are supporting their staff and customers during the pandemic and I was just blown away at how well set-up everything was and how calm and helpful all of the staff was. EVERYONE was wearing a mask, the carts were sanitized, there was plenty of room in the store (given that they are limiting the number of customers in the store at any given time), and there were plenty of employees there to help find things. A+!

In this time of Covid-19, I want to say they were great at quickly and efficiently providing no contact curbside delivery into my car. I was able to order online and get a pickup right away. When I had a question I got my phone call answered promptly. And everyone was very cheerful and careful with masks and not touching my car doors.I did try to find mulch at local stores and had to give up. Then I tried Lowes and never even got my call answered. Randomly, I heard something about Ace offering curbside pickup and it was sooo easy. I care for my 4 month grandson so I am super caution about having any interactions outside of my small family group of 3.I would shop here again even though it isnt quite as close! And really this store is locally owned too.

I walked into the store on my phone and the manager ask me if he can help, as I’m talking on the phone and I just hold my hand up for a second as I’m obviously busy on the phone and he then throws a tantrum like a teenager and walks off...Excellent jobs skills.

My expectations for hardware stores have been lowered by years of visits to Home Depot and Lowes. My first time at the St Johns Ace I was asked what I was looking for, and walked directly to every item I bought.I was in and out in less than half the time it would have taken me at Home Depot and I felt like I was taken care of.The people that work here feel real. Not like theyve been forced into their work. Theres a younger guy who works in the Paint department. I think his name is Jacob, but I love him. He knows his stuff. Hes nice and likable and hes himself at work. Most employees at big-box stores have dealt with so many people that day that they look at you like as if youre a pallet of bricks they need to scan and move out of the loading zone.But at this Ace, everyone acts like a real person and treats the people who come in as real people.I highly recommend this place.
