A really lovely spot on a main street that happened to be close to where I was staying while in town. Ample parking available in the lot just beside the building. I enjoyed that there was a wide selection of fabric types, not just quilting cottons. I like that they cater to those who make clothing as well as quilt or do other sewing projects. Lots of modern selection in cotton and I found exactly what I was looking for as a souvenir of my visit, Portland fabric with all sorts of landmarks! The staff was very kind and patient.

My favorite place to shop for beautiful fabrics! They keep a steady supply of new and gorgeous fabrics, though I miss in store shopping, I really appreciate that they are taking proper precautions and keeping their employees safe. My only issue is that the online shopping platform can be unreliable, yardage available for fabrics has not been updated as quickly as it sells, and I have had portions of my order canceled a few times. But I understand that it is a small business, and I still appreciate that they have an online option!

A beautiful well curated fabric store. They have a great selection, good prices, and super friendly staff. They carry tons of gorgeous fabrics in patterns that you will not be able to find anywhere else.

A very delightful little shop that had a wide variety of choices. All the fabric was also great quality. They had mostly fabric and notions, but some books, patterns, and gifts. My favorite part though, was the rack of clothing that the staff had made from the independent patterns. It was great to see the samples made, but it also made me look at some different fabrics for some of the patterns.

With rising panic I discovered that I had translated the fabric width requirement from cm to inches incorrectly and as a result I was short on fabric. I am making a dress to wear to my daughters wedding in 2 1/2 weeks. It was 5 minutes 4 on Sun afternoon. I dont live in Portland. I called and apologized ahead of time for my request at 5 minutes to closing time. I described my fabric and read the selvage information to Gina. She quickly found the fabric and explained the options. In short order I had the fabric paid for and was told it would be in the mail the next morning with a 2 day delivery. So relieved! It came on Wed, just as I was told. I am so grateful for Ginas expertise and knowledge of all of the parts and pieces of this request. Couldnt be more pleased! Thank you!

Lots of cute fabrics for quilting and garments. Plenty of notion type supplies and embroidery supplies. The new location is much more spacious.

I am a beginner, I have more questions than knowledge and I didnt have a lot of money to shop with. The shop owner answered all my question, she looked through all her patterns, she opened up a product so I can see and touch it, she was so supportive and helpful. Ive never had someone in a fabric store be so helpful. Not bad prices and selection either. Looks like they have classes too

This was an amazing experience! They have a wonderful selection of all sorts of fabrics and they display everything very clearly. We left with a great selection of silk noil and my friend was so inspired by a sample shirt she is going to learn to sew a copy of it!

Actually, the customer service is fantastic. Everyone who works there has good advice and unbelievable patience with fabric-lovers addicted to dreaming, exploring, and planning--as well as buying. They know their stock well and give great suggestions for combinations you might not have considered. The fabrics are top-notch, all organized in a way that makes it easy to find what you need. Many thanks to Gina and her crew for their help with design problems and their inspiring ideas.

They recommended that fabric be prewashed in hot water to upholster a bolster covering(incompetent advice). When it shrunk too much said we cannot take back fabric that has been washed. Wanted to sell more fabric. Warning...there are ethical fabric merchants in Portland.

Friendly, knowledgeable staff and fabulous selection of fabrics. Not the biggest place, but they have a well-curated selection, and a good selection of hard to find things like wool felt and interesting flannel thats not pink and blue baby prints.The staff dont necessarily want to be your bffs, but theyre always polite and ready with a smile and cordial chit chat. Not sure what everyone is looking for from shop workers. Customer service can be exhausting, but Ive been coming to this shop for years and have always found them helpful.

Store is completely different from our last visit a couple of years ago when they focused on quilt fabrics. No greeting/ acknowledgement whatsoever that we were there from clerk. Left without making a purchase.

This store was a must see! Too bad that the woman behind the counter was so rude. I was planning to buy some expensive silks for flower making, but after being there for a while browsing, she didnt even acknowledge our presence. When I asked her where to find some leaves that were displayed, she directed me to look into a large chest of drawers and didnt bother to help me. She and the man who Im guessing was her spouse had some sharp words right there in the middle of the store. I felt like an unwanted guest instead of a welcome customer. These merchants could take some lessons from my dear friend Martha Campbell Pullen! Always thank your customers for coming and treat them like a treasured guest.

Have heard about BOLT for a long time, but beings as it is not my neck of the woods, I just never went there. I finally took the time to stop in.I expected overpriced fabrics that you could find in other stores, snobby employees and lots of eye candy. I did not expect to buy anything.Wrong. The fabrics are reasonably priced in comparison to other stores in the area (we are talking about the same fabric, same designer store to store) and even compared to online. Yes, you can get cheaper at Joanns but, it is not as awesome and definitely the same quality. That is like comparing Walmart to Macys.The employees were not uber-hyper-friendly, but so what? That would only be annoying. They were nice and pleasant, making small talk with me when cutting my fabric.I found the ULTIMATE color. The elusive color that I have been searching and searching for in stretch knit. I have tried to order it 3 times online, only to be told that it was sold out. Lo and behold, here it was in a local fabric store at a very decent price! I was (still am!) stokked to say the least.Everything this store stocks, from the trims to the fabric to the patterns is the trediest, coolest, most latest and greatest thing. Everything they have is desirable and makes you want to go home and start a mad sewing frenzy.I walked out with a lot. And I will be back.Simply put, this store is a modern sewers happy place.
