They aren’t “temporarily closed” as Google claims. Echo Audio gets 5 stars. Google gets 0 stars.I was just there about 6 weeks ago. I just downsized into a new home and had excess high end audio gear to get rid of. They paid me a fair price for my used gear and even suggested I keep some of it to give to my (adult) daughter rather than sell it to them, even though it would pair nicely with the other items they bought from me. Knowledgeable and friendly. Don’t hesitate to use them for your A/V needs!

I dont know what their brick-and-mortar location is like, its probably great, but I purchased a Benchmark DAC2D from Echo in the summer of 20, and it would regularly cut out after several hours of use. Thinking it was an operating system issue, Id leave it unplugged from the laptop - over the course of a month, when Id leave it plugged in Id wake to find it shut off. Sent it back to Benchmark, and they replaced the power supply board; has worked 100% ever since. I cant speak to Echos testing procedure, but this seems like something that shouldve been caught before putting a unit up for sale.

I have had Echo Layla 3G, and previously I owned Echo older audio interface. I loved their audio interfaces. But I am giving it a one star because of their business ethics. They stopped supporting the products, no drivers for the new windows. The interface hard ware is fine but they are useless without the right drivers. So all the money I spent is gone waste. So be sure to buy from companies that has a better support. Now I have to buy another audio interface which means spending almost another grand only Echo Audio didnt want to update drivers for the updated windows.

One of the best experiences Ive ever had at any retail store. Greg is awesome, they recommended a few products that would maximize my heaphone setup, my budget was around 2500$, instead of just trying to take my money and run, he recommended trying to purchase some used gear and put me on a list for when those come in. Will for sure be back and recommend this place to anyone trying to get into the audiophile space. They are obviously trying to make lasting customer relationships.

Staff is knowledgeable and unafraid to refer you to equipment they dont stock if the believe it will cover your needs. Honestly the selection is a bit small for the lower end Hi-Fi gear, cant speak for the upper end as I dont have 3 grand to drop on an Amp so I stayed away from looking at too many of those.Overall having a place to test out your equipment compared to the stock they have on hand is great, combined with knowledgeable staff who arent just trying to sell what leftover stock they have it gets a 5 star rating even though I couldnt find what I wanted while I was there.

Great store! So many interesting things to drool over. Take a break from over-researching and purchasing online and go talk to a human and listen to the components, its great! They have all ranges of audio equipment, so dont be intimidated by the $10k McIntosh amp. I just wanted a pair of good sub-$300 speakers for my TV setup. I went in thinking the Elan B6 were for me, but after listening and discussing my needs with them, I went with the KEF Q100s. Very grateful for their assistance, maybe someday I can get that McIntosh there...

Top shelf selection, limited and exclusionary offerings for entry level consumers. Anything under 200 is most definitely going to be limited to one or two models in any category. Considering the people on the street right now, and just Portland as a whole, this place feels disconnected, but if youre the target market I guess this is your corner audio store. This is a three star review. It gets 4 for the knowledgeable and somewhat friendly staff.

How have I not written a beaming review for this shop yet? Hands down the best retail business Ive ever purchased anything from. What I appreciate most is that you can walk in there ready to spend a few hundred dollars on your first Hifi setup and theyll treat you the same as someone spending 20 grand. These kinds of shops can sometimes be intimidating, but Echo is far from it. I actually drag my friends here and try to get them to buy stuff, I appreciate them so much.99% of the time they have the best price on something. If you find something online on clearance for for a few bucks cheaper, its still more than worth it to buy it from Echo. The service and care youll get should you have any issue is more than worth the few dollars you saved on that open box thing you bought online (trust me - I have made that mistake!).I cant stress enough how comfortable the vibe is there. Unfortunately, Hifi can be a bit of a dude-centric boys club. It speaks volumes that my wife (an interior designer) sends clients (men and women) there whenever the opportunity arises.Anyway - Ill top gushing - theyre the best. The End.

Echo Audio, a rare gem in the Audio Store scene of the Pacific Northwest. I have been a customer now for almost 10 years. New gear, used gear, slightly used gear-all sorts of speakers, receivers, amplifiers, turntables, DACs, headphones, tube gear, and other source components...I think you can get a graduate degree in practical audio electronics just by regularly visiting the place. Kurt and his team absolutely know what they are doing, and the whole experience is pleasant and extremely reliable. They stand behind what they sell, and service it with no questions asked. At Echo Ive got the speakers that I enjoy a lot! What to say more? These were pre-owned, with small cosmetics, but they sound as if they costed ~~7x the price I paid. The store itself looks like a museum of Hi-Fi / HighEnd audio, with a fascinating mix of brand new and pre-owned gear. Their listening place was not a refined soundproof room, but thats Ok: after all if you are satisfied with the speakers there - these may sound even better when brought home.I was truly pleased by an unobtrusive attention of Kurt and the other guys working there (I wish I was better at remembering the names! Have to come back :))When I came they had everything setup for me for the most effective listening and comparison (I called Kurt a day in advance).I even got a discount when I already said I will buy speakers I was listening to. And the guys did a bang good job on packaging those heavy beasts (120lbs each) and stayed after-hours to handle it all and load into my car.By the way I was directed to Echo Audio by their friends from Pearl Audio :)

On 5/18, I went into Echo Audio to fit a cartridge to my Kenwood KD-500 turntable. This thing is in pretty good shape for a 38yr old turntable. The Grace G-840 arm required a minor repair with the anti-skate clamp which I did in like 10min.The salesman literally scoffed at my turntable. He told me no decent cartridge will help it and pretentiously questioned what system I had at home. I replied I have systems and why does it matter? I told him this same exact KD-500 is for sale at Freds Sound of Music for $1600.Yes I took his attitude personally. This unit was given to me from a very close friend of mine who is very sick. I treasure this turntable and for the salesman to tell me, Youll be back selling it to us for $100, I was appalled. You know what man? Screw you. Maybe you should try to be a little more personable and not look down your nose at folks. Not everyone can afford a $3500 turntable with a $1200 cartridge and $5000 speakers. Music is more than what system you play it through-- its about the human experience. I know because Ive been a musician for 25 years.I did purchased the Ortofon 2m Blue from your business because I didnt feel like driving across town to another store, but this will be the last time I shop at Echo Audio. You got 2 starts for that.I hope the salesman reads this and groks the hurtfulness of his actions.I dont know how people like this make a living. What a dick.

At the risk of gushing about Echo Audio... Id like to add my experiences with Kurt and his co-workers. Ive known Kurt since 1995 and, full disclosure, I also consider him to be a good friend. But, this review is about his store, not our friendship.Back in 1995, I wanted to upgrade my mid-fi stereo. Being a neopyte, Kurt helped me to dramatically improve my system. Over the years Ive been fortunate to have Kurts guidance (and Rin-Tin-Tin ears) to help me aquire better pieces to the point where I now own an extremely satisfying stereo system. And, almost everything Ive purchased has been preowned, saving me huge sums of money! By the way, Echo pricing is very fair. Be advised, they price to sell, stuff moves quickly, so its worth checking the website regularly. However, the most important aspect of dealing with Echo Audio is the honesty and integrity of Kurt and his staff. More than once Ive been tempted to buy a piece only to be talked out of it by Kurt because it wasnt compatible with my existing units. He has always has steered me straight. You will never be over sold. They take the time get a feel for what youre wanting to do and work within your budget to achieve your goals. Youre encouraged to take equipment home and hear it in your listening environment, which is often the true test of whether youll like it or not. Ive found that pieces usually sound far better at home than at the store. They stand behind what they sell. If theres a problem they make it right. If you assistance setting up your equipment honorable mention has to go to Kollin... he pays attention to the smallest details to ensure that everything is set up correctly. For sure, Echo Audio is a far cry from your typical stereo store. I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea.... there is no other like Echo Audio and I would NEVER buy audio gear anywhere else!
