Its unfortunate about the place being safeguarded like a bank... Guess the scars around downtown were cut deep.. but walk past that and you have people waiting around to help you like car salesmen, only without the pressure to buy stuff! Just browsing around and seeing that huge screen in the middle showcasing the product is so cool!
They now have a caged fences around the store exterior, so it looks nothing like the pictures with a clean facade and such. Not sure whats going on, but there are several steps to go through before you can actually talk to a rep who can help you.I was told that I will have a 15 mins wait, turned out to be 30 mins, and I had to ask my wife to go and refill our parking meters because it took longer than expected. At least the waiting area was comfortable and the AC was blowing cold while we waited.
Much different from the apple store of the past. Lots of lines upon lines. They have it down pretty well. Umbrellas for the rain, colored areas for the lines and mics for the plexiglas windows. There are about 10 windows to go to inside and they’ll tell you where to go. Just be prepared to wait outside for a bit before being let in.
I was greeted real nice I sat there about 30 or so minutes it seemed like anyway the experience was all bad I have a IPhone 6 and for some strange reason it just upped and shut up it wouldnt take a charge light wouldnt come on gentleman who diagnosed it for me was polite and did a though job but.the answer I got back.wasnt. It said my IPhone would never cut back.on again and I could buy another one for 29900 I expect a apple product to be a good thing long lasting and all.of that I guess I.got a lemon anyway I.am totally dissatisfied with anything that has a pple name on it. ks216503@gmail,com
Love the cage surrounding the store. Its so Portland 2021! But this is the top Apple store in Portland.
My 2013 Mac book started crashing at the start of August. Up until then it had been working just fine. I took it to the Portland, OR Pioneer Square location to get it service and was told it just needed a battery replacement. This cost approx $200. The issue of my computer crashing immediately started up again. Apple support scheduled me an appointment with a Mac Force who I had to pay another $100 diagnostics fee. I had to take my computer back there several times because they could not pinpoint the issue. They finally determined I’d have to replace my logic board for approximately $450. I took my computer back to the Portland Apple store to see if there was anything else they could do. They said at this point they can’t even send my computer into their repair center because my computer was to old. If my computer had been properly diagnosed the first time I could have save a lot of time and money just buying a new computer. At the end of everything the apple genius employee recommended that I sell my computer on Craigslist to help recover the cost of the new battery that apple told me I need for my broken computer. Very dissatisfied with my experience.
Fell in line at 3pm and was given an appointment to go back at 4:45. Got a text confirming the scheduled time. Went back at reserved time but couldn’t find my name despite the text I got. Someone let me in but was told the product I was trying to buy is sold out. Just wasted almost two hours for nothing! They should have a better system of informing or notifying the waiting customers that the product is unavailable so they don’t have to wait longer for nothing!
Its an apple store so its always cool to step into awesomeness and pick up a new MacBook.Friendly and professional staff!
Refused to cover battery replacement, even though have AppleCare+ due to software explaining battery health at 80% despite battery issues. Also, when offered to pay for battery replacement, explained that they do not have batteries at this store and I would need to drive across town. Why could I schedule a battery replacement in the first place at this location? Overall poor experience.
I spent all day on a call with apple where someone finally stepped up and resolved my issue. They had me make an appointment at the Genius Bar to replace my phone and even provided a code to reference in case there was any trouble where he had “approved” the replacement. I drove from Washington to this location and the employee read his notes then said no. They refused to replace my phone and honor the case he created for me. Des I believe was her name. The manager came over and told me the phone was old and not worth my time to replace anyways. Suggested it was in my “best interest” to spend money on a new phone. I left, called apple again, spoke with another support specialist who agreed that they should have helped me. Then gave me a new case number and sent me back into the store with her information so I could reach out if there was an issue with them doing their job. Luckily the next gentleman in the store who assisted me processed my claim no issue. Wish I got his name to thank him.
Had a broken IPhone. Brought to another apple store twice without any help whatsoever. Phone has been broken since delivery, and I have apple care. Went to Pioneer Square store and Charlie met me, saw the problem and fixed it, the first visit. Charlie was awesome I have a working IPhone and apple still has a customer
Friendly knowledgeable staff, provided the assistance necessary to begin to confront the issue at hand. They did so in a timely fashion and gave some helpful tips to make the process easier to resolve. Professional, courteous, comfortable environment, I only knocked em down to 4 stars because other steps still need to be taken via phone support to finish reparations and I believe that the store should have been able to take the necessary steps during our visit to bring this issue to a conclusion, alas the store and phone support are apparently not on the same wave length as far as being able to work together for the benefit of the customer. Fix that problem done the line and Ill fix my rating up to 5, all in all a pleasant experience!
So I had an appt and it still took an hour for a person to get to me. I spent an hour and a half in the store just for them to tell me its gonna cost more to fix the phone than what its worth.🙄 🤦♀️🤦♀️ Plus my precious time and parking. That could have been said over the phone when I called twice. They look future bound but are very inefficient. I people watched while I waited and they fumbled so many situations. SMH Didnt give it a one star because they lady helping me, I think Alex, was pleasant.
Yeah, way cool electronic stuff all around. Upgrades going on outside. So expect to see chain link fencing on the grounds for a while. I will provide pics soon.
About to drop a ton of cash on some new Mac gear? Welcome to the Thunderdome. This beautifully modern floor-to-ceiling-all-glass tech mausoleum is now surrounded by 8-foot steel walls courtesy of vandalism. You need an appointment because its packed all the time - even having been closed for most of 2020. Friendly staff, weird times.
Walked in midday on a Thursday. I knew what I wanted. Flagged down an employee. They had it in stock. No one was available to sell it to me. Instead of getting the item from the back, the employee took down my info for an appointment. I asked explicitly Instead of doing this, can you just grab it from the back? The response was Im not even supposed to be doing this right now.Im not blaming the employee. I dont think she was authorized to sell me anything. Everything seems to be mediated through the iPads that all the employees are staring at.Its like Apple forgot that stores are for buying things. Seriously, why cant I walk in and just buy something? Absurd.
Went in to get help with a bricked MacBook and walked out with a functioning one. Sterling, who got it up and running again, really knows his stuff, and was able to explain clearly to me what the potential issues were and what steps he was taking to resolve them. Many thanks!
Great service, the staff at the store are really friendly and helps you with any of the issues.
Thank you Apple store for being so helpful and quick! Great experience!
This place is a nightmare, avoid it at all costs. They do not want to help you at all. The management is worthless. We Made an appointment at 1:10PM to have a phone replaced due to the inside of it being completely corroded. We show up and there is a line of 20+ people outside the store with appointments waiting to get inside. There was a second line for walk ins who were getting into the store faster than we were. Waited in line for over an hour past our appointment time, outside. Once we got inside, they let us know the apple care we had been paying 20 a month for still to this day, expired 2 months ago and the replacement phone would not be $99 like they told us on the phone, it would be $600. Not only did we waste hours of our time waiting when we had an appointment, but they have been taking our money for apple care and not allowing us to use it. After he offered us the phone at half price I agreed to just pay it, and they needed us to turn off the find my iPhone on the broken phone before we could get the new one and obviously we couldn’t do that because the phone is broken. They told us we could call sprint to do this, but they didn’t have “time for us to facilitate that call because there was other people waiting”. Not like we just waited hours on them. Ended up leaving. A bunch of BS.
Without the Apple device issue I probably wont have stopped here while exploring the city, culture and its uniqueness. Due to a recent software update the screen brightness dropped significantly on the iPhone. For an adjustment that literally took 30 seconds, I was asked to make a tech appointment.Okay, I can do that and come back in 30 minutes for the scheduled appointment. Another 15 minutes wait. No tech. Why do they make an appointment? As I was just about to walk out on Apple, I thought of giving another try by Apple employees who have just talking among themselves right along the front door. The staff person changed the setting by three clicks on the top right button.Question is why I was asked to make an appointment for a simple adjustment? Shouldnt all staff working at store should be knowledgeable and help with simple adjustments? I guess thats an Apple way!
Always a great experience with the customer service at the Apple Store. Very nice. Very professional. And very helpful.
They are anti right to repair, watch Louis Rossmann on youtube for proof. Also I had a macbook air that died after 2 years for no reason.
Loooong lines but they had a good system in place to keep things safely moving. I was in and out with my order in 30 minutes.
I had the best experience I’ve ever had at an apple store! The covid precautions felt really safe and all the employees were very helpful! Especially Terry! He was so incredible! I look forward to seeing him on my next trip to the store!
Parking can be a challenge. The store is great. Staff are friendly and the selection is good.
Very nice facility and employees. Theyre also considerate and efficient with new covid restrictions. One thing that was annoying was that I pre-ordered a new phone and decided to return it and get the Pro version upon arrival. The team lead refused and said I need to do the return at home, do something online and come back (very inconvenient). Besides that the employee (minus the team lead) was very nice and apologetic that he couldnt help me with the return. Will continue to go back.
Hum, some security around here.Looks like its gonna be a vary beautiful place to shop when the construction finnished.
I made an appointment the other day to bring in my new product that was faulty and couldnt turn on. When I got there at my appointment time, I checked in, but had to wait for more than an hour outside in the cold and realized they had been skipping over me and another person in line. Even though we had earlier appointment times. It seemed that the thing that was most important to get to your appointment was if your last name was easy to pronounce and remember. Once inside the employees at the genius bar were very kind and helpful, but there is definitely a fault in the system with how they get their customers inside.
Staff was very pleasant and I was helped quickly and efficiently. The atmosphere of the store is a happy one and I would definitely return to buy more electronics and accesories.I went in because my phone suddenly stopped charging and would not turn on. They assisted us quickly, even though they were busy and I was a walk in. They got me a loaner phone, as well as ordered a new one for me. They were all very nice and patient.Large store with floor to ceiling glass walls. The store is equipped with all Apple devices and there good number of employees to assist all the customers. As a non Apple person I will admit their retail environment is awesome. The staff know the product very well and are generally pretty cool.
Was a bit crowded but still got fast and friendly service
Visited to trade in a phone. We were able to do the trade in but the service was horrible. Almost the entire time the worker helping was talking about Harleys with his coworker and was on his phone.
My favorite stores seem to be gone... still very nice environment..
I drove 30min, paid for parking and stayed in line for another 15minutes just to make sure I will get the latest version of the magic keyboard for my new iPad. I asked the salesperson if he is sure that Im getting 3rd generation keyboard. Once I came home, I realized they gave me second generation. I will never again buy anything from this store.
I love the all-glass storefront. There is lots of product thats well-laid out and fun to look at. You can try out the products. Theres a place for kids. However, getting help isnt always easy and pretty much everything is overpriced. Being downtown theres tons to do and see. My kids love stopping by this store just to look around and try things out whenever we visit downtown Portland.
I just work as a security officer I feel the prices are to hi
Do yourself a favor and just order your equipment directly from Apple and get it delivered, no need to go downtown and deal with the rude pretentious staff and all the hoops you need to jump through just to get in the door, only to find out they dont have what you are looking for. Plus downtown is just disgusting
Going home was not easy because of all of the freeway road closures. I got on the freeway not going my way. 😟
Nice and helpful staff, happy with the service.
These apples taste terrible and the servers yelled ALLOT for trying to bite them. Not even ripe, hurt tooths. Not even good expire date for price. Might try again. Bone apple teeth
I didnt have a great experience the day I was here. I made an appointment and showed up on time but wasnt seen until a out 30 minutes after my appointment. The employee who helped me was great even though they couldnt do anything for my broken laptop because it was obsolete which is a bit ridiculous considering its only about 5 years old.
The amount of time that it took to get my product returned back to me was atrocious. Much longer than they explained it to me and the contacting process was extremely difficult when the store asked me to contact them. They made me jump through hoops to speak to a representative and even then I was not allowed to talk to someone at the store. Apple as a whole needs to fix this contacting process.
Not open when they say they are and barricaded behind a giant ugly fence.
Standing around for almost an hour without anyone updating me on what exactly is taking so long. Their store phone number rerouted me to their general customer service number. The phone support couldnt even reach the store. It seems like they do a lot to waste your time while providing the least amount of service possible.
Not about the store specifically, everyone there is nice. But if apple is such a great product, why is it when it fails youre the one responsible for ALL COSTS.
Technician was helpful and got my phone replaced
Thank you to Alberto for getting my laptop back to normal! After 2 sessions with apple care+ and no solution! You’re the bestMo D’angelo
Writing this as soon as I got home from my Genius Bar appointment so apple can figure out who Im talking about. Today, 6/9/21 is my first day in Portland and my genius appointment was scheduled for 4:20. I literally rolled into PDX with all my belongings this morning on Amtrak, and its been one of those days where nothing has gone my way. Finally got to my place and realize I need a new power cord for my iMac. I went to Apple because I had to figure out something quick or I was going to be S.o.L. at my new job. The computer system showed no inventory in the area, but my genius JOSH went into the back and dug around until he found one for me. He didnt have to, but he went out of his way and it totally turned my day around. He completely saved me. He was super nice the whole time, and even apologetic about my wait. Josh is the man, he was the most friendly he could be, and he has cool tattoos to boot. I think Josh should be Portlands mayor, or at least boss of the Apple Pioneer Place store. The world needs more people like Josh. Thank you, dude! I am in your debt. #joshforpresident2024
Terrible customer service, employee talks down to customers and try to belittle them just for asking how long a repair will take. Save your time and energy do it online instead
*insert scathing review re: my experience when I showed up 3 mins early to an online-booked appointment and then was told I’d need to wait in a 8 deep line. When I returned six minutes later after moving my car to a longer term spot, was told my appointment had been “cancelled” like Apple cancels black culture. 😒See what I did there? Ps: this review is a one star one, but I want it to be seen when searching for “Apple pioneer place” so gave it a unique second star.
I love Apple and usually coming in to their store makes me happy, but I’m a little irritated about their line/waiting/covid situation downtown. We arrived at 1:40 PM for our 2 PM appointment and got in line. Someone came behind us at 1:50 PM for their 145 appointment, and after we had been in line for about five minutes more, the man who was staffing the line put that woman in front of us? It’s not a huge deal, but I just didn’t understand the logic. He never told us what their procedures are so it just seemed very random. Anyway, this won’t be a problem forever obviously, but def a minor annoyance. We ended up not even seeing the person at the Genius Bar until 2:35.
Dont bring your broken iPhone here. Take it to PDX iPhone Repair in Roseway instead. They can fix almost any problem for a reasonable price and have incredibly fast service.
Place is empty, but you can not access it to purchase anything without appointment. What?
Giant security gates around the outside and security guards that follow you around 😑
Inside tech was awsome. Upset my appointment time was not respected.
Took forever. Couldn’t get help. They changed too much.
Unpleasant staff member spoke to me in a belittling manner this afternoon when I tried to look at the new iPad Pro before ordering one online. When I asked how long the wait would be he seemed annoyed and had no idea. Put me off from even wanting to upgrade. Steep decline from the Apple store experience 5-10 years ago.
Very friendly and helpful staffs!
Kool place
I had a weird experience here. I ran to the store with exact cash to buy an iPad. I told the attendant what I wanted and that I had cash. He didnt listen to a word I said, and began the marketing upsell. I said Im really not looking for a conversation and he took offense and walked off. Then a second attendant finally helped me. I paid the cash and took the box. Easy. I wish the experience was more like buying a can of coke. I really dont want the soft sell.
The place is a zoo, but I truly think Apple designed it that way to create a false sense of volume. I came in to pick up an online order on two separate occasions, so my experience is likely not a fluke. Upon entering, its not clear where pick-ups should go and employee are just milling around; many not approaching to offer help. When help finally showed up, we were passed onto a couple people before finally getting someone that could retrieve our order. The whole process took well over half an hour just to do a pickup. Ridiculous!
Extremely poorly run store. Check-in process was messy and haphazard. Security guards run the check-in line- with total disregarded for the barcode sent to customers- it felt like a throwback to antiquated bureaucratic processes of yesteryear. The first unorganized random line was not Covid compliant and it had guards insulting and arguing with customers. The store manager Brian Lightburn was a myopic thinker with no apparent regard for customer needs. If this is Apples future, then the Company will likely fail in the long term. Brians leadership and judgement creates tension and exacerbates problems, and today he effectively destroyed my 20 year loyalty to the Apple brand---pity!
I shopped there and bought a new MacBook Air. There were a lot of folks at the store but it was pretty efficient they take your name and someone comes by and helps you in about 10-15 minutes if crowded. I know usually you just go to the counter and buy items but that’s not how it works with Apple. I also was able to use my Nike discount and since it is Oregon there was no sales tax which is great too.
I don’t know why charges for variety when they don’t cover it. Never wast your money paying for variety because they can make a hundreds of reasons to not recover it.
Horrendous customer service. An employee whose job was to help me told me that it wasnt his job to answer my questions. Done with this store and not coming back. This high horse is too high for me.
When it comes to apple you expect nice clean lines and a polished surface. For some reason this apple store just didnt live up to those standards. I did really enjoy the community provided artwork though. Maybe other apple stores could follow suit? I think it would be an uplifting message to the neighborhood.
Friendly and nice assistants as always.
It was quite and boring cause its close and two security card is inside I dont know what they do.
They have great people that work there and their security are awesome
Best place to buy and sell
Treked downtown, waited in line just to find out they are out of stock on the part that we made an appointment a week ahead of time to have replaced. How hard is it to check stock when making an appointment and/or checking in for an appointment?
Best shopping experience ever
Very bad people skills not good place to come
Fairly smooth with the new protocols. Make an appointment
Rude and unprofessional personal, will not come back to this place, sad to see what happened to this place.
Where others might find destruction of property, I seen beauty in the mural. A long time coming for Portland. We live in a black and white town where our surroundings tell us one thing but our insecurities overcome the way to get there. Often we move so fast we forget that the mural might be temporary but the memory is a lifetime.
My boyfriend and I got new iPhone here a couple of days ago. It was Sunday afternoon, so we expected to be crowded. After 15min waiting we found an available staff. He was friendly, super kind and tired to help everything we needed. We’re actually back on Monday to get an adapter, the staff was friendly and nice, too! I might want to replace my MacBook before I go back to Japan.スタッフがとても親切です!
I was denied entrance at the door even though the store was still open for 15 minutes (though according to Google Maps it would have been open for more than an hour), even though I knew what I wanted to purchase and explained that I drove an hour to get there.
Store is surrounded by 20-ft steel fence for a compound. Welcome to Portland, so progressive
Terrible lanes management, had to wait for a while in the cold. Security staff were not friendly
Hi Everyone...So, just a quick update. This is the continuing story of my attempt to get my MacBook Pro repaired as it was returned to me from the ‘Apple Trade In And Get $450.00 Instant Credit When You Buy A New MacBook’ place. It was returned because the keyboard was losing letters when I typed. They would pop off or stick down and make like a thousand ‘O’s’ before you even realized it. At the time of the purchasing the new MacBook Air and telling the trade in place about my trade in MacBook Pro, they did not ask any questions, nor was there a place to tell them about the keyboard issues either. So, because of all of this happening AND because they had already applied that $450.00 Instant Credit and then turned around and charged it back... (see plot thickening in previous review) this Representative offered me the option to send it back to their Repair Center, where they happen to be processing and repairing all the ‘mail-in’ defective keyboards on the MacBook’s that were affected by this keyboard being defective issue. So, the Apple Rep arranged to send me a complete return box so I could send my MacBook in and have it repaired that way. I honestly thought this would not be available, or if it was, itv would be much harder than it was. I was very pleased with the Apple Rep. that helped me do this. This is much easier than I thought it might be. So, two remaining things that and I’ll need to write you a follow up on these also- and ‘hopefully’ that will be the final instalment of this review!!! Yeah! Oh, the last two things... 1) Well, the mail in box arrived and it did have a Fed Ex Priority paid label for... but the barcode was smeared as well as the rest of the return label. It was unusable. So, this turned into another 40 minute phone call. However Apple was able to email a new label directly to me and the machine took off. Well, 2) a few days ago I got an ‘update’ email saying they had received it, but due to unforeseen circumstances, the repair has been put on hold.I will update again!Thank you so much again for reading!SincerelyJosh and Sneaker ;)7
Web site says you may make an appointment, at the entrance they say you must
A logistical nightmare. I was coming in with a friend to pick up a repair. He was let right in, I was quizzed at the door by an employee about why I was with him. We were bounced around three different lines without getting basic info - expected wait time, what the pick up process even was - and waited for nearly 90 minutes. Employees passed by and said nothing. We were never even thanked for our patience. The entire time we were standing around, I was standing on a broken foot in a lot of pain. No one offered to help, and an employee came and took a seat as soon as it opened. He scrolled through his phone while I stood around hurting. The whole thing was a horrible trip for a simple pick up - something that could have taken five minutes. Im incredibly disappointed by the experience.
