Seriously one of the best spots weve come across. Small, very friendly, great coffee, fantastic food. Not fancy at all, which is exactly the way we like it. Got the chicken fried steak for breakfast and it was superb. Excellent flavor, nice and crispy but not overcooked. Gravy was very tasty, not too salty like some Ive had. Generous hash browns, well done.Their outdoor seating setup is pretty nice too. Hope they get to keep it. Highly recommended for a casual meal out.
Weve been to a lot of places to try and find our fave burger in PDX. So far, Roxys takes the cake (or would it be the bun?). My partner got the Leather Pride burger, which comes with BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, a brioche bun, and optional mayo, lettuce, and onions. It was delicious. Simple, but perfect. The party itself was juicy while not being a drippy mess, the BBQ sauce was TO DIE FOR, and the bun was soft and complimented the ensemble well. The only complaint was the sheer amount of BBQ sauce that came on the burger. Definitely ask for it on the side if youre not a fan of your burger being drenched in sauce. In all, Roxys was a huge and happy surprise. It is affordable, filling, delicious, and delightful.
Really glad we popped into this place. We were craving breakfast in the late afternoon and it was close to where we were. I would never have thought chili in an omelet would be good, let alone amazing but it was! April and the rest of the staff were great. Will definitely be back next time were in town.
Wonderful, welcoming diner. The staff were so friendly. They treated my child with the respect they dont get in other places. The server used gender neutral pronouns when referring to my child, which we both greatly appreciated. I loved going to the Roxy as a teen in the 90s. Its now my teen childs favorite place. The food was delicious and reasonably priced.
I have a special place in my heart for this joint I worked late down townnso I use to stop at Roxies for a burger n homemade ice tea . Im a huge straight black man n Im accepted here at 2 am now with covid might be different because u cant just go in but I know the same spirit is in that building
The food is great and the staff are even better! Ive been going here for years and I always have a good time.
Highly recommend. Great service. Food was great. Huge omelette French toast was delicious. Nice atmosphere. Ate breakfast outside on the patio. Very enjoyable experience. Definitely go back whenever I’m in Portland!
The staff was wonderful. I came in with a party of 4 early in the day. While I didnt order anything because I wasnt feeling too well, the server was very funny and got everyones orders correct. Great breakfast, a welcoming environment. A great place to go.
I work two doors over. Was recommended their chicken fried chicken. Pretty good stuff! Will be back for more. 🖤
Remodeled since the last time I was here. Super friendly. Menu offers something for everyone. Great atmosphere. Love this place!!
By FAR the best breakfast in town-ENOUGH (!) with the booji breakfast spots that serve you 1 jazzed up piece of french toast for $20!The Roxy is just Good Old Fashioned Classic Diner Food! The Culinary Back bone of America!
Huge portions, good flavors. Breakfast burrito was gigantic.
Super friendly staff and only place in downtown Portland serving breakfast 24/7. I would recommend the fish and chips.
Such a cool space! The cafe drink I was served was exceptional, and the service I was given was the best in Portland. A great place for a casual coffee or meal, definitely recommend giving this place a try.
This place rocks!!! 🥰🥰 best breakfast ever....i appreciate the positive approach and good attitudes of the employees have here ... YOU GET 10 STARS .....
As a staple of late night revellers the Roxy holds a special place in my heart. Its amazing to see them still fighting to bring heart attack worthy foods to the masses. Love you guys!
Service was great! Friendly staff and nice scenery.Food was great!!! Sandwiches are MASSIVE will fill you up. The Onion Rings were the BOMB🤤🤤🤤 LOVED THOSE THINGS, they come with about 10-12 rings, at least thats what we got. One of the servers made a secret menu iced dirty Chai latte and damn it was perfect. Buuuuut the chili cheese fries need some improvement to be desired, no seasoning on fries and the chili beans didnt have flavor so it was basically wet fries with beans :/ Other than that I will recommend to my friends and will see them very soon and thanks to MARK 10/10 server we love you and thanks for being nice :)
Food was fantastic! Customer service was excellent! Will definitely be going back again.
Great place for breakfast! Its a Portland staple with an amazing owner.
Nice brunch. We really love the atmosphere here and food is great.
Been going here since i was 4 currently 16 and it’s still my favorite place to go 😆 I do miss the dark aesthetic though ☹️
My overall experience here was worse than before they closed down. They changed the hours to close by 2pm. On top of the new hours of operation, the prices increased too much for the quality. Even the fries were not worth anywhere close to their price. They were soggy with oil and not cooked all the way. They need a big overhaul to save this place sadly.
This restaurant is so eclectic and weird, but in a good way. They have this pink and purple trippy lighting, and it felt amazing after a few ciders (which i had somewhere else before, they don’t serve alcohol). The best thing is they serve breakfast all day. I wanted something light, so I chose the grits, they were so silky and buttery. Our server, Spectrum, was amazing. Huge selection of sandwiches, pancakes, burgers etc. And it is one of the historic, “weird” restaurants of the Pearl, Portland. Everyone should definitely check this out.
Always have very quick service, and huge portions. Never disappoints!
The Roxy has been a favorite for years, and one of my go to spots when I am downtown. I had not been there since Covid happened, and got the Hero as reccomended by my server. Half for lunch and half for afternoon snack. Always glad to support this place.
Always, good food. Fun atmosphere.
Incredible service and friendly staff. We ordered 2 omelets, one Soylent green and one chili, both were GIGANTIC. Hit the spot after a night of drinking 💯
Friendly, great food and overall cool place.
Great place - felt very welcoming immediately, and the food was delicious!
Very clever names for their food. My partner and I got the sweethearts burger which was very bland and pre-formed.
Always great people, great service and yummy diner food.
Great food + excellent service! A PDX favorite.
Really cool little place, great food and extremely friendly service. Looking for a LGBTQ+ friendly restaurant this is it.
This is one of my favorite places. The atmosphere is completely Portland and the food, while being greasy spoon fare, is of consistent quality (ie, tasty) for an excellent cost.I bring every friend new to Portland here and everyone has loved it.
The Roxy is a wonderfully inclusive greasy spoon type of diner. I hear theyve remodeled and redecorated during their 2020 Covid 19 closure, but Im sure Ill love it when I get a chance to return!! The staff are terrifically talented at being unique, some to the point of being famous for their rudeness..and I wouldnt have it any other way!!
I was missing two of my eggs from my order and the hash browns were severely under cooked. I order a quad espresso knowing ahead of time it would be plain but surely expected more than just under 2oz of coffee. Would’ve been bearable if it tasted decent. I had 4 bites ate the toast and pitched the rest.
Great food, amazing service, what else could you ask for!
The Roxy is good for next day hangovers. The food was mediocre. We ordered chicken fried steak with corned beef hash. The chicken fried steak was good with juicy steak with another gravy on top with poached eggs on the side. My corned beef on the other order was not so tasty. The corned beef was definitely from a can. It was grilled to perfection. But it would have been better had it been real corned beef with potatoes. That is the only reason why I give this restaurant 3 stars. The ambuance was a little different for my tastes. But the best part was Jesus on the wall.
Fast service, fresh food, excellent customer service.I ordered a burger and chili cheese fries, they were excellent, fiancé ordered an omelette and a blueberry pancake, niece ordered burger with really good onion rings 😋everything was perfect. We would definitely go again next time we are in Portland.
Great food, huge portions
5 stars for the awesome service.
Omlets are huge and delicious!
The animal it was really hard because of all the regulations but they were following them to AT they really wanted stay open I could see that Passion the food was so so yummy but their biscuits need some help I love them money and the effort they spent on the outdoor area a hope at some point I get to you said the place was re done beautifully love the bathrooms totally handicapped accessible the restaurant to bathroom small PA little difficult this place stance to stay around its an icon
Comfortable atmosphere, friendly and welcoming service. Delicious comforting food, I always leave full, and happy with the bill. What more could you want?
Everyone loves a solid greasy dinner, and Roxy is slaying the game. Their food is consistent, good, and a great value. Service is funny and friendly. The atmosphere is kitschy and kind of dive-y, but in a cozy, comfortable way. Veg/vegan options available. NO BOOZE, so dont go in with that expectation.
Service was fantastic and food was reasonably priced and quick. Food ranged from above average (gravy, coffee) to average (omelette, hash browns, biscuit). Over easy eggs were right, which I expect, but dont always get.Id absolutely eat here again for a quick diner meal. Its old fashioned comfort food, not high end chow.
They say you save the best for last, but I had my worst dining experience of 2019 at The Roxy this morning, right at the end of the year. I awoke early at my hotel and did a Google search for an open breakfast spot. The Roxy was listed open and I made my way over. I loved the atmosphere and the servers were very friendly. I decided to order a very basic meal, a ham steak with two eggs over medium. The eggs, on the bottom, were burnt charred black and crusty hard. I tried to eat a bite, but the burnt taste was overwhelming. The ham steak on the top side looked okay, but the bottom of it was also charred black. The ham was a hard, rubbery consistency. I tried to eat a few bites, but just couldnt. I give this place two stars, an upgrade from one, because the double tall late was delicious and the server was great. The kitchen, however, needs a new cook.
The atmosphere is amazing, great coffee. Friendly servers. Good humor within the staff and the way the menu is written. The go to place for late night food and a pick me up. All of the food Ive had there has been very good except for the gravy on the biscuts and gravy.... It had a weird taste, almost like a multivitamin. Not sure if I just got a bad batch but maybe I missed that its made with something Im not used to. Overall, always a positive experience.
Just in case you where wondering about this place, it was amazing. Where from Salem Oregon and came in for breakfast after a fun night out. Always want to try something new. Service was great and a very nice atmosphere. Food was delicious and didnt cost an arm and a leg.
The Roxy is always fabulous.
Cool place, but the food is mediocre at best and definitely not cheap for what it is
Always been a staple of Portland! Love this place. Eccentric decor and entertaining menu. Once in a while they get a server in with less then professional behavior however those people don’t last long. Still food and atmosphere is worth checking out if you want to experience that “Keep Portland Weird” vibe 😉
Such a funky safe, eclectic awesome retro diner experience. And theyre open crazy late hours!!! First time visit I had cheesecake and a cup of coffee. 4am. Dashed out the door, drizzling rain, perfect sleepy morning. Best service. Definitely will be coming back!!!!!
If you are looking for an authentically Portland after hours place to wind down, this is it. The Roxy is a staple with great vibes, lots to look at, unique service ;) and friendly patrons. We often come here after a show or a long night out and it never disappoints. Tourists beware, you may feel less than welcome. Also, I highly recommend ordering milk ;)
It’s all so foxy at night at the Roxy...While no vegetarian delight, its still worth it for the coffee and vibes.
Super funky, Super friendly and SUPER out -there. Man I love these little out of the way places. The staff only cares that you are respectful and if you have an attitude theyll shut that right down. They pump out the good product, give you a fun atmosphere and only ask that you are nice. The food was greasy but at 2 in the morning its kind of what you are looking for. I hope well be back
Staff is always friendly and personable. All (paying) walks of life are welcome and Im always amazed at the new things featured on the walls. Great food with plentiful portions every time and one of my favorite cups of coffee. Menu is always comical and relevant to pop culture. A must go for any wanderer or local.
My boyfriend and I were so excited to see that the Roxy was open at two in the morning AND was serving breakfast! Upon walking in, the environment was very upbeat with good vibes. It was very popular at this time, as it is one of the only restaurants open for 24 hours. I got scrambled eggs with ham steak and toast, and I could not have been more impressed by the flavors. By far, one of the best late night breakfasts/meals that I have ever had. Two thumbs up and highly recommend!
Classic, campy, a gem of another era
Excellent Food. Burger was delicious. Chili was sublime. Service was outstanding. This was my first time eating at The Roxy. Its my new favorite restaurant!
What a great place! The food is fantastic. Three decor is chic. Staff are incredibly friendly. There is no parking garage or lot. The is street parking and a couple of parking lots a few blocks away.Definitely would go back.
Even though it is the only place open late night (downtown,) it is best not to visit then and tax the overworked, severely frustrated staff.I know they are trying their best, but if management does not set them up for success with more labor support, that sentiment can only go so far. 35 minutes for bacon and hash browns while I watched people seated and ordering after me receive their French toast, omelettes, and sandwiches. I received one refill of water before my food arrived, but not after. Luckily, the person seated next to me did not want theirs. The staff were really trying to make the best of an overwhelming situation. But management should be taking care of them during this process. Dealing with rude drunk people is worth double the labor and double the pay. Please go to this unusual, Portland establishment. Just avoid weekend early morning hours and you will have great service and food.
Good Heart Attack
The wait staff are amazing. They have just the right amount of attitude mixed with great service. I go there weekly with a large group of friends and they treat us wonderful every time. They dont mind that we take up a large part of the restaurant and they always behave as if theyre genuinely happy that were their customers. They never act put out. The food is anything special but the breakfast is always great. Prices are reasonable and the FAQ in the front of the menu is hilarious. Also, theyre open late and they dont serve alcohol. Which is great because you dont have to deal with obnoxious people drinking while youre trying to eat and they dont put up with obnoxious drunks coming in from the surrounding bars. And if graffiti is something youre into, the restrooms are covered in some wonderful examples of sharpie art. Ive included an example to give you an idea
Enjoyed it with some like to haves, hotter coffee, bright lights instead of dim mood lightening. The food was tasty and was very fresh unlike chain restaurants. The whole ace had a vibe to it that I appreciated .
The atmosphere is by far the best part of this place. The food is... okay. I dont go here for the food, I go here for the atmosphere and all night dining. The food I got most recently came full of onions, which were not included in its ingredient list on the menu. There was more onion than beans (it was a taco salad). I also watched them leave it out for a really long time, and when it came to my table it was cold. I guess the main issue here is the staff. Theres a very I dont have to show anyone common politeness vibe, no matter how nice and accommodating you try to be. Its pretty upsetting because they present as a very inviting place for queer people, but its not really inviting when being there gives me anxiety. Its like they want customers to feel bad for ordering there, which seems like a poor way to run a business.
Very surprised, in a fabulous way. Looking for a quick bite that had a menu for those sensitive to certain items, we decided to give this a shot and hoped for the best, having bad experiences before.Food is absolutely delicious, this is the first time I have ever been blown away by a meal to this degree. We enjoyed the humor of the menu and the overall atmosphere. On our list of places to visit again! Youve won yourselves some regulars!
I absolutely love this restaurant, this is one of me and my girlfriends favorite places to go for our dates. and because theyre open so late its awesome as a late night pondering place to go and get pancakes. All the staff are super kind and helpful 😊
The atmosphere and everything seemed great. Though, when started eating the food I realized that I had just experienced why it isnt good for a restaurant to be opened 24/7. The coffee and pancakes tasted very off like the equipment hadnt been cleaned properly in a long time. I ate few bites because I was hungry, paid and then left. Though I wont be returning and dont recommend this location to anyone until they bring their facility up to code.
